Cara Restaurant Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Booked a reservation here for 7 for brunch - beautiful
Booked a reservation here for 7 for brunch - beautiful place and the ambiance was top tier. We got seated right away. Everything we ordered was tasty, but our personal favorites have to be the truffle fries and the chicken shawarma. For dessert. we got the hot sticky toffee pudding and it was to die for - perfectly warm and crunchy on the outside. My only concern is we waited a little under an hour for our food, we didn't mind though because we spent time taking photos. We were also seated all the way in the very back corner, yet the restaurant was not busy at all - wondering why we were put all the way in the back (and no, we weren't a loud group at all)
The restaurant is beautiful and the service is great.
But food was definitely below average, I don't think I'll be back here again unfortunately.
An incredible space with pretty good food and okay service.
We did valet parking, which is $15 card only. You go up a few big steps and then are greeted by a stunning courtyard and lobby. There's also a beautiful bar to the side. Our waitress was sweet but not super attentive, as we waited a while for water a couple of times. The brunch menu was pretty good. I got lemon pasta which was tasty and my sister got an omelette, which she said was good not great. Then I got apple pie, which had a good filling but burnt crust. I'd come again for drinks and maybe something small to eat, but not for a full meal.

A most beautiful space with elegance and a delicious menu.
The service is on point and this restaurant always exceeds expectations.
My second time going to Cara restaurant for dinner.
It's a relaxing and amazing experience sitting by the pool and enjoying your dinner and drinks. The food is great and most importantly the staff is very welcoming and accommodating. The bar area and the back patio are also great.

Good vibes! We were greeted right away from valet, hostess, server, phenomenal service. The place is clean and well kept. Decorated like you're on a very relaxing vacation. We came here for brunch and they had adequate choices for food. The lemon pasta was delish, and the presentation of food was pretty, even the drinks have flowers in it. We had a great time. We weren't rushed at all. Our server Dylan is very attentive, quick and knows the menu and had great recommendations. Will definitely come back. The bathroom was clean, and well kept.

A jewel of a hotel!
To say this is a jewel of a hotel is not enough praise! The hotel is gorgeous and a tranquil spot amidst a busy part of the world - the lobby and pool area are elegant and oh! so comfortable; the bar is beautiful, and the rooms have every possible amenity, including an amazingly comfortable bed. I was impressed by the quiet of the room even overlooking a large dinner party that was held in the evening - we couldn't hear anything. We also loved the proximity to hiking in Griffith Park with spectacular views of the LA Basin. I would highly recommend the Cara - we have stayed in many different hotels all over Southern California over the years and the Cara is a true gem!
A must-visit hotel for style, excellent service and a supremely great experience!
This hotel is a must-go for anyone looking to stay in this part of LA. The whole feel of the hotel is retro-Hollywood fabulous, and the rooms are very comfortable. More than this, the enthusiasm and graciousness of everyone who works at the hotel were remarkable and unequaled by any other hotel we have ever stayed at (even the 5-star hotels). We felt thoroughly looked after, and no request was too much, even including a late checkout so I could conduct a last-minute business video call. Even the valet service was unbelievably friendly. And the restaurant and bar are gorgeous, with very delicious food and cocktails. Our only regret was that we didn't book a longer trip. We can't wait to go back.
Beautiful and clean and welcoming except for…
The staff was wonderful and welcoming. The first room was a very comfortable twin. When we needed to extend our stay, a twin was not available so my son went to a different hotel. My room was comfortable and clesn and fine until it was time to dleep. There was a terrible sound of what seemed like industrial floor cleanets thst persisted for hours. It was a terrible nights sleep.
Good location, really good food, absolutely superb people.
The hotel is in a convenient location. Even though the rooms are a bit small, they make up for all of that with the best staff I have seen in a long time. They are courteous, friendly, attentive and eager to serve. The food is very good, but it’s the people there that truly stand out and make it memorable stay.
Love the Cara
I was so charmed and impressed by the Cara. They overdeliver on style and service. I really felt like I wasn't at a corporate chain -- there's a person-to-person warmth. I know the whole place was a conversion from a regular motel and I looked into the history of the place when I was staying there. The old motel they converted was also a pretty beloved and safe motel for the tier it was in. I had been worried this place had some sort of bad history but honestly it's just good vibes at the Cara and their renovation has been gorgeous. Great beds! Small rooms if that's a problem for you but we didn't mind it. We'll be back.
Do not stay here
Hotel staff changed my reservation and didn’t inform me. Paid $1100 to sleep on an air mattress. Homeless people everywhere the moment you step out of hotel. Took 2 steps past front steps and homeless guy pulls pants down exposing himself. Not safe area at all. Not a boutique hotel just dressed up motel. Super slippery bathroom floors due to lack of doors. Staff was rude and very unhelpful.
This is such a lovely hotel
This is such a lovely hotel. I'm grateful for Ceasar, at the front desk who was especially friendly and helped me get an early check in to shower and rest after a long flight from NYC. I really enjoyed the text process directly to the front desk, it was helpful for several questions I had and items I forgot. I ate a nice lunch at the restaurant by the pool, the staff was delightful and the truffle fries were to die for. Ask for the Cara Cara sauce! Be aware that there is a restaurant in the middle of all the rooms that can be loud in the evenings. If you are on East Coast time and needing to go to bed early the noise is difficult to handle. It did all quiet down completely by 11pm but that is 2am for me. I would reco this hotel to anyone with the evening noise caveat.
A Jewel in East Hollywood
A jewel adjacent to Thai Town, Little Armenia and the southern tip of Griffith Park. They took an old style motel and turned a very classy, original and elegant hotel, bar and restaurant. The vibe is outstanding. If you love to hike or walk, the location can't be beat as you are steps away from all the trails in Griffith Park. Highly recommend.
Awesome stay!
Beautiful boutique hotel in the mid le of Hollywood! The room was small, but perfect. The linens are super cozy and the bed was very comfy. We did not get to eat during our stay but would love to come back Highly recommend!
Beautiful, relaxing, design-centric.
What a truly pleasant experience. The rooms have a minimal and clean design. The restaurant is stunning and the food is outstanding. The bar has an intimate vibe and perfect ambiance; great for a romantic nightcap or to listen to the DJ while enjoying some chilled red wine. I would highly recommend this place, especially to couples. It’s beautiful here.
