Might be one of the best meals we’ve had!
Didn’t have a reservation but lucked out with 2 seats at the chefs bar. The wine list is fantastic with over 600 bottles of Spanish wine. Our sommelier, Christian, chose the perfect Rioja for us. We were recommended to have 6 tapas dishes but ordered 4. It was close to the best meal we’ve had! Razorback clams, manchengo salad, burrata and squid ink rice with fish. The chefs were so in sync, it was a pleasure to watch them work. We can’t wait to go back!

I pass by this place all the time and notice their bright yellow sign but who knew it was Michelin starred? I didn’t have reservation but I figure still early for dinner but I still cannot get a table. Unfortunately, it’s one of those popular tiny spots so you get the picture, long waits and limited seating. I don’t mind sitting at the bar but their bar seating is atrocious. You either sit next to busy kitchen exit or actual door exits. Their worst bar seat is next to the side door where servers go in and out to work at their next door restaurant and outdoor seating, And this is type of restaurant that badly needs more seating. Food is good but it’s hit or miss. Some dishes work better than others. Razor clams always great so they are good here. Chopitos were so dry and no different from calamari of an average bar. They only serve Tapas and I had a feeling at $20 or $30 a pop, they add up quickly. I would come back maybe with reservation for a table or at least better seating strategy at the bar but I will probably limit myself to three dishes and a beer and then go to East Village for some delicious ramen which I imagine wud come out not only tastier experience but cheaper, too!
Be the first to ReplyMichelin 1* Spanish worthy as a food-crawl venue
This popular, reliable and consistently good casual Spanish Tapas/Pintxos eatery has been our perennial NYC favorite for years. Offering a diverse range of creative and exotic ‘tough-to-decide’ dishes from a compact menu, reaching a decision could be quite a challenge. After some gargantuan effort and debate, our party of ‘famished’ 4 finally settled on the following: Ensalada mone Manchego & pimenton marcona almonds Razor Clams a la Plancha Bacalao Croquetas Fideos, Chorizo, Clams & garlic sherry aioli Sweet Bread, fennel al mone and marcona almond vinaigrette Lamb Belly marcona mole and sungold tomatoes Piquillo Peppers braised oxtail and Jamon Iberico Foie Gras cino cebollas Crema Catalana Bunuelos de Laurel ( Bay leaves fritters ) Overall, the food was still very tasty and good, though I did detect a slight slippage in quality and execution ( result of staff attrition caused by Covid? ). Case in point, the slightly overcooked Razor Clams and Croquettas. However, there were more than enough lip-smacking goodies to offset these short-falls… the salad with ’ one-of-the-best-tasting dressing ’ was such an example. As in the past, the gorgeously sauced, huge slab of seared Foie Gras was another stand-out…as was the crispy Sweet Bread… A most enjoyable first meal. For me, the most important factor was that, I got to enjoy and share such delectable food with my loving family!
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience here at lunch
Great selection of tapas. Everything tasted good!! Service was excellent too. I really like the crudo and the croquettes. For a hot day in nyc their air conditioning was top notch in the little house on the street.
Be the first to ReplySuper!
Super good, ordered 3 tapas and actually u need 2.5 to be satiated. All were top notch. Scallops, goat and cod…. Will be back for more.

Brought my son and husband here. Best decision ever. Antonio our server was amazing at explaining each dish & making recommendations—felt like we were on top chef! Each dish was better than the next! Will be a memory for always. ThankU
Be the first to ReplyCasa Mono, excelente!!!
Second visit to Casa Mono, always delicioso, pork belly, foie grass and duck breast were to repeat everyday, great wine selection, I'll repeat next time in the big apple.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, rude waiter
The food was really good. We ordered 5 plates and 2 deserts which were all really good. Service wasn’t good, they gave us 2 plates which we hadn’t ordered before taking them back. The waiter suggested we should “tip more” after we tipped 15% which was 35$, for 2 people. Never have I had a waiter tell me I should tip more which he even said rudely. Ruined the dining experience for me. Not going back.

Second time back, if I have to say one word it would be consistent. Food quality, service, good wine and drinks. No wonder they have a gazillion Michelin Stars. Raquel was a wonderful host and Chef Jonathan went out of his way. Considering he's the Chef of a Michelin Star restaurant, you have to appreciate his willingness to stop by and say hello to a patron that requested to say thank you in person. Awesome! We'll be back everytime we're in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth a Michelin star!
Service wasn’t great and attention to detail was poor. Explanation of dishes wasn’t given at the start of ordering and the presentation wasn’t great. The tapas was nice however this restaurant does not warrant a Michelin star. Disappointing!
Be the first to ReplyMouth-watering and truly memorable tapas
We merely stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant – we were wandering around, looking for a place to eat and were drawn by the restaurant’s smaller size and intimate atmosphere. Lucked out in that we only had a 15 minute wait time. We had no clue this place had a Michelin star until we started dining. We sat at the bar, which was super cool because we got to witness the chefs preparing the tapas first-hand. Every dish we tried was incredible, with my favorites being the goat confit and razor clams. I’m always a big fan of tapas, and thought that the dishes at Casa Mono were especially innovative.
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING
This is now one of my da restaurants! The food was spectacular as was the service. There were 2 of us. We ordered 6 dishes but should have stopped at 5. All were excellent. The fluke, pulpo, pork sausage and razor clams were top notch. Looking forward to coming again next time in NYC
Be the first to ReplyFood superb, atmosphere a bit less so
Go here for the food, not for the crowded tables and noise (now you know why I didn't give this five-stars). Two couples and we enjoyed 10 dishes and enjoyed all of them: Salad, thin escarole with great dressing and manchego cheese, scallops with mint chutney and cashews, razor clams with herb and garlic butter (save the butter for dipping your bread throughout the meal!), pigs ears (you would never know, crispy and spicy), duck breast with amazing cherry sauce, goat confit with avocado, meatball with baby eels (!), bacalao croquettes with orange aioli, fideos with chorizo and clams (outstanding), pork bellow with potatoes. All had wonderful sauces which made each dish unique. Food service paced well.

We had the most wonderful brunch with friends yesterday. Our server was amazing… every morsel of food was outstanding. Everything was so good we had to re-order several dishes. 5 star experience all the way!!!
Be the first to ReplyTasty Small Plates Lunch
We were very happy with our experience at this relaxing small restaurant. Service and explanations of food were excellent, and the flavors were top notch. A Spanish Tapas restaurant. Pork Meatballs, Tomato Bread, Mushroom dish, Oxtail peppers, were wonderful as were the two desserts - the bread pudding and the creme brûlée. Our sparking wine was perfect as well ! Five Stars.
Be the first to Replya nice brunch
I was here this Saturday with my brother and a friend for brunch. We were walk ins and were acoommodated at an outdoor table, but not in the structure on the street. Service was very good. Friendly efficient waiter who brought the food quickly. My friend had a tempranillo that was expensive but delicious. I had some cava. My friend who had been there before was disappointed that there were no razor clams available. That said, we enjoyed the pan con tomate, charcuterie board, patatas bravas (nice and crispy), and a few other dishes. Shishito peppers and croquetas were also solid. I thought everything was very good. I know it's New York, but I've eaten all this in various places in Spain at a fraction of the cost. Still enjoyed it though.
Be the first to ReplyOK Food, Less than Average Service
Ambiance and Food are good, but not certainly NOT great. Manchego salad was tasty, as were most of the tapa dishes. Service was not good, with the waiter ignoring our table and acting as if he was granting a giant favor by taking our order. Had to chase server down to pay the bill in this tiny place even with just six tables with customers. Among the most disappointing servers in New York City.
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant Week Lunch
On July 19 through August 22 Restaurant Week started in the City. Five weeks of choosing where to lunch or dine in Manhattan and the boroughs. We chose Casa Mono as our first place to have lunch. Eden and I had eaten at this Michelin starred restaurant when it first opened but it was Carole’s first time. The menu was spare with one appetizer and a main course. A frisée salad flecked with pimenton, almonds and three large triangles of Msnchego cheese was delicious and filling. A
I ordered a plate of Bacalao Croquetas with orange alioli to accompany the first course. Grilled Dorade with peach salsa followed. We drank a flute of Cava Mono Brut. Service was friendly and professional. The servers all wore masks. Even though we sat indoors the French windows were open so there was plenty of fresh air circulating. We enjoyed our lunch.
Great Spanish food
Great Spanish food. Pork belly, dorado, and salad were all quite good. In a beautiful part of grammercy. Good service and ambience.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely amazing
Casa mono was is an amazing tapas restaurant with an amazing elevated version of Spanish tapas and a wine and beer selection. Service was some of the best service I have ever gotten in NYC. Food, drinks, atmosphere and service was a 10/10.
