Used to be a regular until was overcharged and charged by something I didn’t request. When spoken with the owner she simply told me to dispute the charge with my bank since she wasn’t going to refund me or do anything about it! Food is too expensive for the small portions you get. Same goes for drinks ! If you want authentic Brazilian food, go somewhere else !

Love this place, I have been several times and food is always so good. The restaurant is tiny and very cozy, personnel super nice.

Be the first to Reply#1 Brasilian in NYC...we love it!
My wife and I always love dining here. The Casa team is GREAT! Cozy space...warm vibes...genuinely friendly staff...and the cooking is outstanding. Soups, interesting appetizers, and the feijoada--aaaahh, the feijoada...delicious and uplifting. Start with a caipirinha...devour some apps...order a simply white wine...dive into a feijoada, and you will be good-to-go. We look forward to eating here again and again...muito bom!

For a Sunday brunch, 16 family members arrived at noon. We were going to a nearby 2pm matinee. We told staff about our time frame when the reservation was made. We reminded the waiters, politely, when we arrived, that we had to be out before 2. The restaurant was almost empty and we expected no problem.
I approached our waiter to ask if our group of 16 could get 4 separate checks, 1 for each family unit, instead of having to divide up a huge bill at the end. I was told repeatedly that they can't do that. No attempt to suggest of any kind of alternative.
The prix-fixe brunch menu has no prices, includes no beverages, and lists the choices for 3 courses. It looked like you should order one from each section since that's what you'll pay for. A cousin who'd arrived early explained that desert was only an option, and the 2-course choice is less expensive than ordering all three. (The menu in no way indicates this.) All of us ordered just appetizer and entree, since a third course might be tight for our 2pm matinee anyway.
The appetizers came at 1pm. We'd already asked the waiters, politely, more than once if we could be served in time for our matinee. After the appetizers, everyone else in the restaurant -- who had all arrived after we did, and ordered the same limited number of dishes from the same small menu -- was served. We were not. Waiters kept saying, "Coming right out." Nothing arrived until 1:30.
Few of us knew what specific Brazilian dishes look like, so my husband assumed he received the entree he'd ordered 75 minutes earlier, and began eating. I asked the waiter if the bowl in front of me was the chicken plate I expected. He checked the orders, realized I'd received my husband's bowl of fish stew, and moved the bowl to my husband. Then the waiter brought my chicken entree, took the dish my husband had already started eating and brought it to whoever had ordered it. (We're all cousins, but that still seemed unhygienic.)
Everyone was rushing by then, so we couldn't possibly savor the food. The comments I heard ranged from Good to Average. My chicken dish was mediocre. Many people didn't have time to finish. We had to deal with the bill while we were eating. One person had wine, a few ordered coffee, and a very generous tip was included on the check. The 16-way split came to $62. Considering the level of food and service we got, that was appalling to most of us.
The two toddlers in our group received the high chairs that were requested at reservation time. They were the only people at our table who were treated with any respect, attention, or courtesy. Especially at prices like these, that's inexcusable. My family members will never visit Casa again, and we'd like to warn other groups about the way they may be treated there.
Great food in a tiny cozy spot in the west village.
Must try the stroganoff, fried empanadas and the bonbons to end it. Lovely cozy spot, kind of tight seating but otherwise good. I can imagine at times it can get loud due to the size, but that wasn’t the case when I visited.

I just loved this place. The food was excellent, but you got to enjoy Brazilian "street" food and an atmosphere of eating in a semi outdoor environment. When I was there all of the doors / windows were open exposing the restaurant to the street. I loved it. Yes, it can be loud, but during busy times. I recommend going just when they open or have a early dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGood: Food. Bad: Loud, Very.
The dining area is small, and when we arrived for dinner it was nearly full. The noise level was extremely high, so high that conversation was difficult at normal tones. The only word to describe it is "din." Fortunately, the food was good, though on the expensive side. I read that other reviewers have described Casa as "quiet" and "intimate." Regrettably, it was neither on the night I was there.

Quaint quiet restaurant in a really nice part of town with fantastic brazilian food! We had a craving for brazilian food and happened to find Casa. I ordered the feijoada which is a traditional brazilian dish and the portions were huge. On top of that the ordered the steak and yuca fries. All of the dishes were perfectly done and just the right combination of flavours! If you're craving brazilian food I highly recommend giving this place a shot!

What a find. The locals recommend this place so it had to be good. It was great. Small intimate dining with classic brazilian dishes.
