Perfect for dinner before a show
We had 5 pm reservations before a 7 pm Broadway show. (The staff made sure we had time to walk a few blocks over.) The three of us enjoyed small plates delivered over an hour — especially loved the endive salad. The dining room and service are cozy.

In Short: This is THE wine spot in HK. You can't do better and it'll surpass even your wildest expectations! Don't think twice - just come hungry, thirsty, and ready for an unforgettable experience! It's both intimate and incredible!
This is easily the best wine bar in HK! Because hey, let's be honest - we've all been craving a spot in Hell's Kitchen with delicious food, a reliable wine list, and killer service. Neither a "Mediterranean" bar with wine, nor a restaurant with an extensive but vapid list of vino.... NO! We want the real deal! An intimate wine bar that delights us, helps us forget about the stress of the city, activates each of our senses and reminds us that life should be decadently delicious!
Though there are a few places that scratch the surface, as a long-term resident I can assure you that nowhere in the neighborhood begins to provide the experience that Casellula gives their diners. Careful thought and planning have clearly been invested into every element of the experience that they provide.
Dining here is a dream come true. Here, every aspect of a great night out just fits together. Earlier tonight, my friend and I had the pleasure of bar-side conversation and culinary curation from Tiffany, Jennifer, Kristen, and Vinnie. Together, the strung together a night for the ages!
Unlike many wine bars, the menu here details provenance, flavor profiles, and other pertinent information. As a wine lover, you will easily feel at home here. The truth however is that you don't need any prior knowledge because your bartender will happily take it upon herself to match you with the perfect fit. Seeking a wintery red? They've got you! Looking for a crisp white? No Problem! How about something sparkly? Sure, why not!
One pour and we were sold... but that's just where the fun began! Now, the food menu took front and center, and boy did it deliver! The citrus salad was both simple and refreshing. The endive salad will blow you away with its complex flavors and drizzle of brightness (enough to add cheer to even this grey, post-apocalyptic winter day)! Looking for something hearty? Well, their glorious and yet unpretentious Mac & Cheese will more than hit the spot!
At this point, we were several drinks in and bursting at the seams. However, as it'd had been a nightmare of a day, we opted for the grand finale - three cheeses to pair with one final last glass of wine.
Now for context, my friend and I were drinking the whitest of whites and a full body red - AKA a cheese mongerer's worst nightmare. One sampling platter to share and pick up the notes of both glasses? Oh dear!
Fret not friends - the crack team at Casellula had it under control! Upon receiving the most beautiful of platters, we were then wowed by the sheer knowledge that was shared with us. Origin, texture, pairings, and a secret "extra" with each cheese made this the best cheese tasting of my life! (And trust me - I've both conducted plenty of tastings for work, fun, and have attended several as well. This was truly next level and capable of being an experience within itself)! You can tell when a tasting is done with both love and logic. This one set the bar by which all other cheese tastings shall be measured!
And so there you have it folks... A finely curated selection of wine, exceptional food pairings, unbelievably fun service, and an ambiance that will make even the toughest date melt!
Casellula earned themselves two new regulars tonight and we will be happy to spread the word. Without questions one of the best dining experiences that I have had anywhere. We are truly blessed to have this here in the heart of Hell's Kitchen! Can't wait to return!
A cheese and wine-lovers' paradise!
Where to have a light dinner pre/post theatre? We had been to Casellula during previous visits and were satisfied, so we decided it was the best option. It was better than ever. We dined there twice this time! First, the space and staff are warm and welcoming. You feel immediately comfortable. Though there are other things on offer than cheese, we are big fans, so we opted for the cheese board and a bottle of red. The cheeses come paired with accompaniments (the blood orange compote was amazing!). This is not a random selection of cheeses. Both the cheese monger and staff know their stuff and are more than happy to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with their guests. That was probably us you heard moaning and groaning with delight! Truly delicious. It's a relatively small space, so make a reservation. Have a fantastic evening!
The best spot in all of NYC
Love, love, LOVE this little hole in the wall. They are the experts in affordable yet luxury wine and cheese. For the best dinner, capitalize on the vast knowledge of the workers and let them create an experience for you. Talk to them about what types of wine and cheese you enjoy and let them handle the rest. This place is SHOCKINGLY affordable - you can easily get out of here for under $50/pp (which is unheard of in this area of NYC when it comes to personalized/unique dining opportunities).

Absolutely fantastic! Had a glass of great wine - a tempernillo. Peppers stuffed w mozzarella and wrapped and broiled in prosciutto. Then unbelievable endive and pear and blue cheese salad w a side a carmelized bacon. Awesome experience. Totally suggest it. Get there at 5 for a table. No reservations. Awesome

I’ve been to this place twice: the first was by chance, and the second was planned. We were walking around HK and every restaurant was either packed or too noisy or both, then we made a fortuitous turn into 52nd Street by 9th Avenue and saw this cozy quiet place. The service was unobtrusive and they have a good selection of wine and cheese. I don’t know much about either and I left all decisions to the wine and cheese captain. All of her recommendations were really good.
If you’re in HK and want a quiet evening, head out to Casellula
Great Local Spot
My guest and I shared some amazing wine and food at Cassuella. We had a fantastic cheese board, which was paired expertly with the wine we were drinking. We also tried the bacon and Brussels sprouts, both excellent. They definitely know what they are doing. It’s a small place and they don't take reservations, so I would recommend getting there close to opening if you are trying to get to a show after.

A local wine bar the service great food which makes it always packed. They don't take reservations so plan strategically or be prepared to wait. But once you get a table, the dishes to get are the pig ass sandwich, mac and cheese, chistorras in a blanket and a plate of cheese and meets. Pair it with some great wines like the Chook (a sparkling shiraz from Australia)

Delightful cheese and wine in such a cozy atmosphere. The service is amazing and that all together make it a great combo for a wonderful night.

Went here after theater on a Friday night. Staff were great (found us a table even though we hadn't had a reservation) and every morsel we put in our mouths was terrific.
Great wine, Fabulous cheese and the Pigs Ass was as delicious as promised. Let the cheese monger pick for you - totally fun and delicious experience
