Over. Overrated. Overpriced. Just over
New Yorkers don’t go here anymore other than showing visiting tourists and colleagues or as a novelty. There are endless options available with superior service, food, drinks, and atmosphere. I would not waste your time and money here. It’s mediocre at best and disappointing when your expectations are for a NYC experience unless you’re expecting the overpriced, rude, and dismissive when slow service.

Made reservations for two, one hour later not seated yet. Place was super crowded and noisy. We had to leave. Not a good experience.

Overall Catch is good, but they have a ton of things to work on. Im convinced since this restaurant is pretty popular that employees don’t really care to improve because they get tons of customers regardless. We had a reservation and got seated 45 min after our reservation time. Isn’t the point of a reservation to reserve your table?? We got to our table and it was practically on top of our neighbors. Im not exaggerating it was maybe 3 inches away from them. We actually ended up making a lot of conversation with our neighbors we were so close. We ordered drinks and they were amazing we got a fruity mojito. The lobster Mac was great as well and the food came so fast. No complaints on our waitress she was super nice. If you’re into crowded spaces and long wait times then Catch will suit you just fine.

Firstly, booked for seven, two weeks in advance and only got a table for five. After not being able to move us to a larger table we were told to share menus as there were not enough in the restaurant. An ambiguous menu, not knowing what was a starter and a main. Secondly, they kept bringing the starters and the mains at the same time causing the mains to be ice cold after finishing the starters. (Which were very average for the price). Service was poor, often not having any water and having to contact others to order drinks. Generally, such a disappointment. If you are wanting to order Wagyu, I highly suggest not ordering it here. It was simply not up to the standard of any entry level steakhouse in a meat regard. I do not recommend, and the STK steakhouse will offer you twice the value.

This was the best overall meal/experience of my life. We had a party of five. Tried several appetizers and entrees. Cantonese Lobster (wow), wagyu (also wow) two sushi rolls, 12 oz filet , lobster mash potatoes(amazing) Octopus (best I ever had by far), truffle fries, Brussel sprouts and dessert (doughnuts).

Had brunch at Catch with family, while in NYC for a long layover. The place has a fun vibe. The brunch menu felt limited. We had sushi to start and then our main entrees. Service was not great. A side of bacon was never delivered, and we waited quite some time for our second round of drinks to come. With all of the great places to eat in NYC, I don't feel that this experience really set them apart.

Me and my partner visited Catch NYC for a date night. We were told to wait in the bar until the table was ready, we waited for over 45 minutes. We ordered wagyu steak, lobster mac & cheese and lobster mash. Including drinks our bill came to nearly $600. We both had violent food poisoning that same night lasting nearly 3 days. I have emailed Catch NYC and haven’t received a response. We have never felt so ill and has completely ruined our trip to NYC.
Be the first to ReplyThe Fixed Brunch Price!! Not Champagne It's Cava
Disappointed with the fixed brunch, we felt rushed the whole time. It states from 11 to 3 well they are trying to get you out the door by 4 even if you come at 3. Bar closes at 4pm even if your still eating. The staff brought our mains when we was still eating our starter so it got cold. The waitress brought our bill while we was eating our desert and we will still had half a bottle of cava. They didn't replace our tab water after we finished at bottle. Also it's forced advertisement as the menu states champagne but its defo Cava. The food was quite nice though but hard to enjoy as felt like we had to eat super fast.

Totally loved this restaurant. We did Brunch. First of all the Bloody Mary rocked… amazing. I also love a menu that it’s hard to narrow down to just one choice… so I’m gonna have to go back :) In the end I had the Tartare Trio… loved it. Next time it’ll be the Steak & Eggs. Thx Catch for an amazing Sunday Brunch in NYC.

This place was hopping and we know why— every item we ordered was spectacular and the wait staff (especially Vae) were superb and very attentive.

Very busy, noisy and tiny tables really close together - you may literally be touching your neighbours. Apart from a few proper main courses, most of the menu is small sharing plates. The kitchen is “dynamic” which means that even though some dishes are starters and other more suited to being a main course, they come in a random order (ie in whichever order it suits the kitchen - not you - to produce them) and possibly all of them at the same time. Our very close neighbours had a grilled steak of some sort, which came on a hot grill to be cooked by them on the table. Am sure they enjoyed it, but with the prevailing breeze blowing in our direction we spent half our meal shrouded in smoke from their private indoor BBQ. Not what you expect with the eye watering prices that Catch charge for everything. Given that it was packed, they clearly don’t have a problem pulling in the punters, but it was poor value for money, the food was average quality, and is definitely more style than substance and not a fine dining establishment. Slow service. Would not return.
Be the first to ReplyLovely dinner but got busy and loud later!
Went for a midweek dinner with a work colleague - we went quite early and it was quiet but by the time we left at around 8pm it was packed! Had a thoroughly delicious meal and service was attentive and our server was able to make great recommendations! Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyOverrated, overpriced, underdelivers
Having dined at Catch 3 times over the past 5 years when visiting New York, the quality of the experience has deteriorated significantly upon each visit. I would now remove 'good food' from my last review titled 'awful service, good food'. The service, when you can finally get someone’s attention, is impersonal, rushed and rude – the waiter had no interest in us as customers, more as ATMs, and did not explain the menu which is based around the irritating trend of small sharing plates, rather than standard starters and mains. Dishes come when they, rather than you, are ready – despite our request to have a break between food arriving. As a result, we had to rush the food to prevent it getting cold and there was no room on the table to even have a bottle of water. The food itself was greasy, uninspiring and incredibly overpriced - $22 for 2 beef skewers smaller than your pinky is ridiculous. The sushi, however, was good – nothing special and not worth the price tag, but better than the other plates. Cocktails were sickly sweet. Tables are tiny and too close together, especially in covid times – expect to bump elbows with your neighbour. We left stinking of smoke as the table next door ordered the wagyu cooked tableside. Restaurant is very loud. Do not recommend – there are plenty of better places in New York that serves better food, for a better price, with a better atmosphere and better service.
Be the first to ReplyLeft after 1 hour..did not get a good table
Very busy and trendy place. Reception arrogant and not very personal. We booked a table for dinner at 8 and they let us wait 20 minutes for our table. Then we were put at a table for 4 people...but we were with 5 and it was impossible to sit with all of us. So after complaining back to the bar. Another 10 minutes waiting time. Then put on a table for 5, but so close to 2 other tables that we were sitting back to back with our neighbours. Did not feel comfortable with Covid. Answer: this is New York, if you don't like it go back to the bar and get on the waiting list. Might take long.
We left. The lady who returned our coats yelled at us that we had to tip her...
This place is fully overrated. People are arrogant and unfriendly. Cannot judge the food.
Ok food, very expensive and probably not worth the money
Surprised at the 5 star reviews of the place - it’s definitely a ‘place to go’ rather than ‘you must go here because the food is great’.
We started with sushi and sashimi which was very good and worth getting. The other meals/sharers we got weren’t so great. If everything wasn’t $20/30 a portion I’d probably mark higher, but you can’t charge that much for average food when you need to buy 3-4 items a person. Our bill for 2 people came to $300+ minus tip. Unnecessary.
Service was fine except they changed servers mid-visit without really explaining so we had a bit of a lull.
The restaurant is big, busy and noisy. Good for an atmosphere, a bit daunting in covid times but it is what it is.
Nice food - shame about the doormen
The food is a 5/5 - so, so good. We spent $500+ and we ordered multiple dishes twice because they were so delicious. Unfortunately the overall experience has been marked down due to the fact we were let down by the guy on the door, who told us when we popped out that we could get straight back in and then made us wait in a queue for 15 minutes for an empty club (after which we left). It left a sour taste in an otherwise pleasant evening.

Christmas Day dinner and what a treat!!! On the second floor so a short elevator ride to be greeted by an open airy loft style restaurant. Cocktail bar on the left in case you are early. Food is mainly seafood and outstanding at that. The big signature dishes are Lobster Mac n Cheese, Crispy Shrimps, the Whole Red Snapper. Go for those 3 dishes and you will leave delighted.
Be the first to ReplyVery lively and great food
We went to Catch 09/10/2021 (UK date format)
The restaurant was buzzing (though a bit loud and crowed) It’s located in the meatpacking / Chelsea area (Londoners think a posher Shorditch vibe) area was brilliant especially if you wanted to head over to a few bars ect and they did have their own a few floors up!
Food was delicious and had a bit of a twist on usual fish/sushi family style serving places. You had the small sharing plates like sushi ect but also got your own main meal which I thought was a nice change!
The service was good, they were quick and attentative. I would defo recommend to experience it if you’ve not been.
Dinner
Nice food, but expensive and poor service. Very rushed, and very noisy. Unfortunatly not a great experience.
