Birthday outing
I booked this on a recommendation from my daughter, it was my wife's birthday. We were promptly seated and approached by a lovely waitress whose name was Kushboo. She was very pleasant and friendly . She took our order and it was brought to the table fairly quickly . The starter was really good recommend the cauliflower. Our mains arrived and again recommend the GT Chicken lovely light dish. Our dessert was brought out with a birthday candle, nice touch. I also had the best masala tea ever . I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyBest food ever. Be back soon
We havenโt been here since before lock down, the food is as good if not better better that before. Best Asian food in London!
Be the first to ReplyJust awesome!
Came here with the family and from start to finish just excellent. Service is so quick and efficient. The food is stunning and so delicious. For Canary Wharf the food is so well priced and very affordable. I wish I could give them 6 out of 5! Totally recommend coming here!

Great service, lovely food. Small, but tasty portions. Not the cheapest, but good quality. Very helpful staff, great with the kids.
Be the first to ReplyService much improved on last time
Hadnโt been here for about 5+ years but had a sudden craving for Sunday Indian. My gripe last time was the service which could be offhand. But yesterday all the waitresses were friendly and efficient. Without really thinking about it I went vegetarian, with delicious puris, cauliflower florets and idlis (?). Chai and kulfi were top drawer. Iโve recently been to Mowgli Street Food which is a similar offering in a slightly lower price bracket and I think that takes the prize. But do go to Chai Ki if youโre in the concrete jungle of Canary Wharf.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food - poor service/noisy
Superb starters/main - but waiters took a long time to take orders/kept leaving to attend to others - starters and mains delivered at the same time (not requested) and we were then urged to leave before we had finished our final drinks/cocktails!! We were not later in arriving- this was not our fault! Restaurant VERY noisy too -tables tightly packed.
Be the first to ReplyGreat starters, average mains
Excellent starters, good service, but average main courses. Dahi puri, bhel, and chaat were delicious. Mains (biryani, lamb suka and achari chicken) were not great. Meat was over or undercooked and the dishes lacked taste. Service was good, but not exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyGreat staff, great food and drinks, a very lovely place
Love the ambiance, the food and the drinks. The staff was super courteous and welcoming. They suggested great things to eat and drink. Huge shout out to Sara and Angel! Great service!

Amazing food and service here at the Chai Ki at by the Canary! Our server Rozeta was lovely, which complimented everything really well
Be the first to ReplyIn need of better staff
Arrived prompt for a 1945 booking. The very helpful front of house took us to our table and gave us the menus. 15 minutes later we had not been asked if weโd like to order a drink. There was lots of clearing of tables and a bit of standing around by the young staff. The food looked and smelt pretty good, but at 15 minutes wait and still no acknowledgement from the waiting staff, we decided to go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyBang Bang top Indian!
Top Tikka, booked and glad we did as it was banged. Front of house and waiters were bang on and mega attentive. The food, well being foodies in London it was too drawer for the area where competition is tough. Nice to see something other than sushi.....! Great flavours serves 'bang bang' style. Really well priced and a visit worthy of some good Indian restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyServed meat to pescatarian table which got eaten
Unfortunately a serious error was made where they served chicken to a pescatarian table, which they confused with paneer. The pescatarians ate it, until the meat eaters at the table said to stop because it was chicken. They have the dish free of charge and have a round of chai free of charge (ยฃ2.50 eachโฆ). but still charged us full whack for a table of 6 and kept one chai on there because it was ordered at the start of the meal. Overall good food but service questionable with that in mind
Be the first to ReplyPlease avoid this place - they wont accept families with kids
The restaurant is pretty empty today and we just wanted to have a table for 8 and they wont give it to us even though the restaurant is pretty much empty.
Be the first to ReplyWould give 6 stars if I could!
Absolutely loved our visit to Chai Ali restaurant. Friendly staff who looked after us very well and the food was delicious! Thank you for making our anniversary a special one, we will definitely be returning!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Indian Food! Fancy Place!
We order the fixed menu of the day and was incredible! All the plates were delicious and the food was really tasty! Lots of flavors! Some of them were spicy! Definitely Iโll be back when in London! All food was to share, and the portions were well balanced. (P/D: I didnโt got time to take pics on the food before we eat, cause as soon as it gets we have to try it)
Be the first to ReplyLovely food and cocktails
Really nice Asian fusion menu - staff were pleasant, and food tasty.
Cocktails different, nice and well made - pricey, but worth it!
Okay food, Very Poor service
Pros:
- Food seems to be reasonable tasty, although if lukewarm to cold when it arrives.
Cons:
- Very poor service from staff and especially the manager who clearly was not concerned with making her customers happy.
Having pre-booked for lunch for three people on Jan 15th 2022 in the London Docklands restaurant.
We arrived and were shown to an extremely small corner table.
After being told by the waiter that not all the food could come at the same time due to the table size,
I gently asked that we be moved to bigger. The waiter said it was not possible so I a asked for the manager.
She repeated it was not possible as well. I voiced that I was not happy with this. She then left us to it.
We had to wave down a waiter as they were now all ignoring us to get the rest of our food which was now cold.
We promptly ate our cold food whilst the staff and waiter ignored us, waved down a waiter again, paid and left.
I will never be coming back to this place.
Summary
If you go to this place and ask or complain about anything, be prepared to be ignored.
The quality of the food is okay, a little on the pricey side, but not good enough to justify going there considering the poor attitude and service from the staff.
Indian fine dining
We came over to this restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed. We were seated quickly as we had booked a table. Our waiter Andy looked after us from start to finish. The service was excellent with all staff contributing. The food was absolutely delicious and flavoursome. We ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka naan, dakshini platters, gilafi seekh kebab and old Delhi chicken biryani. My daughter had a maha mojito, so her five a day were covered!
Cheesecake and kulfis for dessert afterwards were also superb.
The food came very quickly, was hot and well presented. I might also add cooked to everybodyโs perfection.
My only criticism is the music was a bit too loud, and would prefer authentic Indian music.
All in all a lovely place to come for a bite to eat.

Friendly staff. Good Food. Served by staff Maria she know the Menu and she is the best. One suggestion complementary tea served was very sweet needs some attention. Definitely will come back soon with friends and family. ๐
Be the first to ReplySlight improvement on last time here
I wouldnโt have chosen this place as my last two visits have not been great but came with someone who had not eaten here before. Once again the service left a lot to be desired, despite being quiet it took along time for order to be taken, for food to arrive and for bill to be brought over at the end. Waiters seemed very matter of fact when taking order or answering queries. I enjoyed the Kerela Pawns. Himilayan ribs and wings were flavourful but a little too much kick for me. Fries tasted a little undercooked and naan was little dry.
Be the first to ReplyChilli Paneer is amazing!
Chai Ki does the most amazing chilli paneer. We are frequent visitors just for this dish - the service is always great and the restaurant always has a lovely buzz. Please open up more restaurants across London!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing - gone downhill
The two main dishes were both a bit cold when they arrived (they did not arrive together). One of them (Himalayan ribs and wings) tasted fine, the other was unimpressive (paneer curry). The basmati rice was of low quality. Standards have really dropped since the last time I visited!
The decor was the height of trendiness, and it was quite busy on this Friday evening - but neither is an excuse for the disappointing food (temperature) this time.
Disappointing service and average food
Food is average, would be suitable for a non Asian customer, I wouldn't say the flavours were not authentic Indian and prices are overpriced for what you get.
Food arrived promptly after placing an order. However the service in general was disappointing. I was expecting a waiter to come and ask if everything was OK at the very least but most of the staff were randomly walking around without a care in the world. We were a group of three that ordered at least 9 items and the very small table made it difficult and uncomfortable to eat from because of the lack of space.
I asked a waitress if I could pray somewhere in a quiet corner, she asked the tattooed guy behind the bar for permission but he said 'that wasn't allowed', which was a strange response. I wouldn't go back here because the food is just OK!
Do not come if you are a family
Terrible customer service. They don't cater for families at all here and don't allow buggys in and asked if we can wake our daughter up so she can sit in the high chair instead. We left.
Be the first to ReplySplendidly original Indian
Only the Toddy Shop comprising tables right at the front of this restaurant next to the bar is currently open leaving a large vacant space to the rear. But no matter because there are more than sufficient original dishes from the menu to tempt the palate. Anglo/Indian as a description doesnโt do justice to a starter of small crispy calamari pieces which would not be out of place amidst the fritti misti an upmarket Italian. A thinly crusted naan with chicken onion and garlic looked and tasted like an Indian pizza. For mains old Delhi chicken biryani was a large plate of saffron infused rice quite crispy to the palate with cardamom and cloves to add some mild spice. Lamb sukha masala comprised shoulder of lamb pieces with yoghurt mustard and garam masala but with two lamb samosas making it feel like an all-in-one starter and main. Only butter chicken slightly disappointed as the ratio of chicken to sauce rather favoured the rich creamy sauce in which chunks of meat were fairly drowned. That did not, however, discourage me from finishing the sauce with a spoon. No draught beer available but a bottled lager sufficed.
