Really overpriced for the portion and food.
I did enjoy the half duck dish (68 pounds) but would definitely recommend Chinatown if you're searching for tasty Chinese food. Also hard to find in Harrods (5th floor).
Be the first to ReplyTempura is fine, but does not worth £17 price.
Seafood noodle is salty and tastes like street food. The shrimp is still cold. Definitely not worth the £32. Worst about the restaurant is the server put the chopsticks on the table after picking them from the floor. You don't see that because that's before you are seated.

Salt! That's the one word I need to say in regards to the review. Everything we tried was devout of any salt. I got the chai wu fried rice and it was pretty good once I put a little soy sauce in it to give it a little bit of a salt. The crab corn soup was really an egg drop soup with two very small pieces of crab in it and it too needed salt. We had some dumplings and they were just OK as well. The lamb springrolls were pretty dry. So while this place wasn't awful it wasn't great because everything we tasted needed salt. This place is expensive son for it not to be very good is disappointing. I would say to try again because maybe it was an off day.
Be the first to ReplyVery delicious, at the top floor of the shop.
Highly recommend. All the foods tasted very like the cuisine in China.
Be the first to ReplyYou won't come here for the food.
It's overpriced and underwhelming given the better quality and prices you could get in Chinatown. It's ridiculously over the top - £16 for a bowl of crab and corn soup? That said, the ambience is top notch and they have a proper wine list that you won't get in other Chinese restaurants. The service is good although they didn't top up our wine which was annoying given the price. The tables are also too small for Chinese family style food sharing. We spent too much time trying to clear space.

I'm an avid sushi lover and the sushi did not disappoint. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting with dark moody tones. The servers are very knowledgeable about the menu and the overall taste and presentation is impeccable. I had two sushi rolls and the seafood noodle bowl and I would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you for such a great experience!

Initially we started off on the wrong foot as the server after about 15 minute wait brought our cocktails and also advised us that our meal would be coming now- before we even had started with our cocktails. We are expressed our reluctance to have our dim sum with the cocktails. It appeared that she recovered and waited. At the appropriate time she asked if we were ready for our food. Overall, the dim sum was outstanding and the service attentive and we enjoyed ourselves and will come back.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible food I had here.
I ordered whole Beijing duck, when they brought it out, I saw it's big one. I wanna change it to half. The chef said no because it's been cooked the whole duck. I said ok, then the chef just cut come very light pieces for my mom and I, we even still hungry at the end. I'm so angry because I paid the whole fuck price they just gave us a little.

Excellent food! Excellent staff! Definitely worth traveling through the crowds of Harrods to find this well managed restaurant.

We had 3 days in London and I wanted to dedicate 1 to a day of shopping at Harrods. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and while we wanted to go to Chinatown once during our trip, we decided to hit Chai Wu. It felt. little awkward to go to a restaurant in a department store but we are glad we did. We needed the rest, as for my wife and I we like to shop as a sport :).We decided on a half duck. It was DELICIOUS. The chef came over to carve the duck, each accompanying sauce was amazing, but the duck was so good it really didn't need any. We decided to have the remaining duck turned into a fried rice. It was good, but not enough duck for me. We would definitely go back. And have the duck again.

Located on the fifth floor of Harrod's, this pan-Asian cuisine restaurant was a huge disappointment. I first became acquainted with this restaurant years ago. My experience was this restaurant was very, very expensive and the service and ambience where simply okay. My dish had to be sent back to be remade. A 12.5% service is automatically added to the bill although it is not deserved. I think there are better options in London if you are interested in high-end Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is open all day. chaiwu.co.uk

Be the first to ReplyYes, it is on the expensive side, but worth every penny.
We had a lovely dinner at Chai Wu after spending the day at the Harrod's Spa (Urben Retreat) as well as lots of Harrod's shopping. We loved that we could walk up and have a spectacular dinner right inside Harrod's.

This was a regimen by a colleague and I must say we were very pleased . The food was delicious and service was excellent . I loved the variation of dishes and will definitely recommend to family and friends if visiting in London . It is a little pricey but worth the splurge.
