Charlie Bird still flying high
A pleasant weekend lunchtime visit - nice seating outside, friendly and efficient service. Some menu choices weren’t available which is a bit frustrating given it’s a fairly short menu but i suppose that’s the sign of a good place! Would definitely recommend!!

We sat at the bar (tables were all reserved) and Hector was our waiter/mixologist. He made awesome margaritas for us and gave great advice on the menu. We order the foccacia bread, roasted farm chicken and roasted scallops. Excellent choices, fresh and very well prepared. We had the chocolate budino (came with rice krispies!) and it was a fine way to cap off the meal. Hector made our visit fun and we'll be sure to come back. Thank you!

A cool place with an unusual vibe. Seemed a bit overpriced. The pasta is excellent. We tried a few dishes. The drinks are great - especially the Italian Manhattan. Tried it once; probably wouldn’t go back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent restaurant in Soho, New York
Expensive, but interesting and excellent food and service. We live on the Upper West Side of New York, so going to Soho is unfamiliar to us. We would come back to this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food, Wine and ambiance
This was our favourite restaurant out of 3 nights in NYC. Great food, ambiance and extensive wine list paired with a very knowledgable and pleasant sommelier.
Be the first to ReplyBuzzing Village Spot With Good Food
I tired Charlie Bird on a recent trip to New York for the first time. I had a pretty good experience. The food was tasty. I had some fresh East Coast oysters to start and a chicken dish for my main. I think one thing that threw me off about the meal was that they served some focaccia bread to start off that was dry and not light and fluffy. It's always a shame to start off the dinner experience with some dry bread, because it sort of sets the tone for the whole meal. Other than that, the service was fine with a friendly and attentive server and the atmosphere was buzzing. a mostly positive experience.

An excellent dining experience. Food was delicious! I recommend: Agnolotti, roasted cauliflower as a side and chocolate cake for dessert! Outdoor patio setup was really nice especially on a warm fall evening. The indoor setup is equally nice for when it is cold outside. I will go back as there are other items on the menu i want to try!

Being in the midst of a pandemic while anxiously awaiting the return of NYC restaurants, I was MORE than happy to have a celebratory dinner with friends at Charlie Bird. Prior to booking, I amended the reservation a few hours before and was warmly accommodated by the Maitre'd via text. Entry is stunning and energetic, thanks in part to a creatively crafted playlist of hip hop/r&b tunes. Now for the service and food: Storm was wonderful. Pleasant, poised, and suggestive. Her engagement, a large part of the experience. The food was flavorful, thoughtful, and seasonal. We shared a mix of the steak, trout, roasted chicken, cauliflower, hamachi, and salmon tartare. All usual dishes, separated by distinctive taste. Pleased. Restaurants like this are the pulse and heartbeat of dining in NYC. I'm proud to say, STOP BY!

Cool and fresh atmosphere
A bit pricy
But food is very tasty
A lot of big windows
I liked the 60’ design
Extremely enjoyable lunch
We stopped in for a late afternoon lunch and were very pleased with the food. Our Hamachi and Lunch Little Gem Salad were ideal appetizers and the Chicken and Tonnarelli Cacio were nicely prepared--with great flavor. Our server was knowledgeable about wine and thoroughly enjoyed discussing it. The windows allow the sun to stream in during the afternoon--which creates an upbeat and bright atmosphere. Check out my photos for more details.
Be the first to Reply2nd visit, won't be coming back
2nd visit. After 4 years. Exactly how I remember it.
Was an evening visit for coffee and drinks. 4 of us.
Inside was too loud, a cacophony- crap loud music. We sat outside. Service was excellent. Love the wine glasses here with the thinnest of stems. Overall it was okay this time. The coffee was almost cold. Had to send it back. The replacement wasn't warm either.
Bird might want to reclaim his good name
First visit July 2019. We stopped in for an early dinner. The immediate first impression is the bad music playing, and not playing subtly. The next impression is the excellent service, although carried about by slovenly dressed staff. The wine list is really nice - well thought out, if tending toward the obvious, with prices that were quite reasonable. Sadly, the fish was not fresh and was cloaked in a tongue-scorching overdose of salt. The side of carrots was also super salty. To their credit, management handled everything graciously, but we see no reason to return.

This is a quick one. Good food. Good service. But who the hell thinks playing hard core gangsta rap at 6:00 pm is a good idea at this resto? F bombs. N bombs. Basically an angry, hate filled 90 minute soundtrack over a pre theatre family dinner. I would fire the idiot who thought this was a good idea. No issue with hip hop or rap but this wasn’t cool. Just stupid. Never be back.

This restaurant is a must when visiting New York. There wasn't a disappointing aspect to the meal. The only criticism would be of the music...a bit too loud for me and older rap (not a fan); but don't let that dissuade you, the food is fantastic.
Eat the focaccia when they bring it to your table. Warm, drizzled with just the right amount of olive oil. Just heaven.
We shared the eggplant with tahini and a gem salad. Both excellent.
The gnocchi were small light pillows of tender dough tossed in just the tight amount of sauce. If it were not considered rude I would have literally licked the plate. It has a bit of a spiciness to it but not so much that it overpowers or spoils the taste.
The chocolate cake with the olive oil ice cream and rice crispies was the perfect finish.
Do yourself a favor and visit.
