Food mediocre (at best), certainly overpriced for what it is . Service poor--items were brought out one at a time with the explanation that it's family style but one portion for 5 people is not family style Unlikely to be back
Be the first to Reply*Chef's Kiss* The vibes.
The service. The pizza. All of it. I loved all of it. I met up with a friend in the city and we decided to grab dinner at Che Fico! We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us at the bar. The large window made for a perfect view of the sunset. If you have a romantic date night, there's a seat that faces directly into the window that is a must! They were doing a special wine tasting when we were there with a flight from two winemakers from Italy. While we didn't do this experience, the couple next to us did and it looked great. We opted for a glass of the chilled red which was perfect. We went family style here, which is definitely the way to go. We started with a caesar salad that was full of flavor. We shared a sausage pizza that wasn't on the menu. The bartender hyped it up for good reason. They've mastered the pizza dough here and it was absolutely delicious!! We also paired this with the cauliflower side which was cooked perfectly. Everything was absolutely amazing! On top of that, the place is decorated beautifully. So many great vibes all around.

OVERALL Che Fico is gooood! It is a beautiful, very trendy/stylish restaurant with tons of plants, beautiful light fixtures and bar, with an open kitchen and large dining room. It's the perfect spot for a date night or a friends dinner. It can get busy on the weekends though, so food is slower to come out since they get backed up in the kitchen, so I recommend ordering appetizers if you arrive hungry, but the service is still great - very friendly and accommodating. FOOD Order Recommendations: Caesar Salad Margarita Pizza Short Rib Agnolotti Orange Sorbetto Salted Caramel Gelato Drinks The drinks were solid - I got a Margarita and the Mezcal drink and I usually dislike Mezcal but this one was amazing - very light on the smoky flavor with nice sweet hints. Appetizers The Focaccia was fine, but nothing special, so I wouldn't order it again. I HIGHLY recommend the Caesar Salad. It was light and doused in Parmesan and salty anchovies that paired perfectly with the fresh, crispy lettuce. Pizzas I HIGHLY recommend the Margarita pizza. It was one of the best I have ever had (including from Italy). The crust/dough was perfect texture - crunchy but also soft and chewy. The sauce and mozzarella cheese were perfectly salty, sweet and decadent and the light dusting of Parmesan on the crust tied the whole pizza together. This is a must order item. The Diavola pizza was fine, but nothing special, so I wouldn't order it again. Pastas The Tagliatelle Ragu and Short Rib Agnolotti are both yummy, but I'd recommend the Agnolotti over the Tagliatelle as the Tagliatelle could have used more meat/Ragu and the noodles were a bit over cooked - but the flavor was still good. The Agnolotti was bursting with meaty flavor and a delicious sauce and the noodles were cooked aldente, which gave it a nice bite. The only thing is it is a little rich so it can feel like a lot of the same bite - but it is perfect to share! Desserts Lastly, the gelato...the Salted Caramel Gelato was the BEST I've ever had (including from Italy). The texture was soft, chewy, decadent, and so so creamy. The flavor was salty and sweet and so delicate yet bold. I HIGHLY recommend! The vanilla gelato wasn't as good - it was icy and not as rich in flavor. The Panna Cotta was also not great - very salty, had lots of nuts on it and was too small of a portion. The Orange Sorbetto was AMAZING - super tangy and refreshing, definitely recommend! All in all, Che Fico is super good and I definitely recommend trying!

i wanted to deviate from the usual pizza places i order from so i decided to order the salsiccia. ended up being the best pizza i've had in sf
Be the first to ReplyNot sure why it's rated so low but I came here for an event
Not sure why it's rated so low but I came here for an event with a set menu and thought everything was delicious and well made! Started with some delicious focaccia with whipped mascarpone and olive oil that I couldn't miss! The second course consisted of roasted carrots, and Caesar salad - both which were so fresh and tasted like it came directly from the farm. We wrapped up with gnocchetti with lamb, broccoli rabe, and lemon. It was cooked pretty al dente and the flavors were really addicting with the salty and sour combos. Overall I couldn't believe I was able to each so much but the meal was worth every bite!

2 I have been here twice now. This most recent time, the pasta and pizza had terrific flavor and texture. The fried risotta appetizer might be my favorite. I had the scallop crudo and it lacked a lot of flavor. Felt held up by the citrus. I had some mezcal drink on their menu which was refreshing. We sat at the bar due to last minute reservations. I am uncertain of their walk in availability. Ambiance is beautiful with lots of decorations and their dry aged meats in the background! I would recommend checking it out but get a reservation at a table if you can! The bar is hard to hear the server.
Be the first to ReplyOur food was good not great.
Way overpriced for what we received in my opinion. They tout the menu as served family style and "shareable" but the portions seemed quite small. Service was the saving grace for us. They were awesome. It's a nice space, not too loud and very inviting.
Be the first to ReplyLovely place for dinner with a fun and trendy ambiance.
Their staff are all super attentive. The octopus starter was extremely tender but some bites were a bit fatty which was a small detractor. Their pineapple pizza is the only acceptable version of this that might be allowed in Italy. I've always been anti-pineapple pizza, it's a bit sacrilegious to put it on pizza, but their ultra thinly sliced pineapple version is acceptable in my book. Also, the thin crust pizza is pretty amazing in general. The crab pasta was a major highlight. The pasta was hot and tender, dark hand made noodles, tons of crab meat, and overall a standout on the menu. They also put chili flakes into nearly every single dish. My wife doesn't eat spicy food, so that would've been helpful before ordering three spicy dishes back to back... on her birthday. The escarole was a total pass, it had a vinegar flavoring to it that seemed to throw off the flavor and we barely finished it. We finished our meal with chocolate budino and sorbet, and the budino was totally out of this world with salty chocolate savory goodness.

3.5 stars The food is good but not good enough to justify the prices. We tried: Focaccia - Very fluffy and oily bread with whipped mascarpone. I didn't love the spices on top of the bread and found it a bit too oily for me but the whipped mascarpone was very good. Octopus - Solid rendition of octopus though not sure it's worth $34. Margherita - Pretty thin bottom crust with fluffy end crust. Solid. Bigoli Nero - Pretty disappointed, the crab was nice but somehow the dish didn't super come together for me. Agnolotti dal plin - Really good, rich beefy flavor without being overwhelming. Crostata arrosto - My boyfriend liked it, but I'm not personally a big fruit tart person. Chocolate budino - This was fine but could be skipped. The thing that makes me reluctant to return is everything on the menu is a solid 10-20% more expensive than other similar Cal-Italian spots (Flour + Water, Cotogna, Delfina), not to mention the extra 10% dine-in charge.
Be the first to ReplyToo Loud! Overpriced.
Music is ridiculous. The restaurant has a time limit on you table. It's just means they are more concerned about turning the table over than your experience.
Be the first to ReplyTwo stars for vibes, interior decoration and service.
Food is average and several of our dishes were salty and portion was small. Price is expensive and there is a 10% service fee.

Food amazing and staff was great! Every interaction with staff members were all very friendly. We ordered the salccicia pizza 10/10, focaccia was our favorite. Definitely coming back to try more!

Came here around 5:30 on a Thursday night and was blown away. My party and I made reservations on OpenTable and we were stunned with the quality of the food and service. Located on the top floor of an unassuming storefront, Che Fico is a beautiful restaurant for dates, special occasions, or work events. There interior is one of the most beautiful rustic yet elegant that I've seen in SF and there's a gorgeous skylight that offers great natural lighting. Yes, the place is super expensive and yes, they add a dine in fee... but it's definitely a place you should try once! Focaccia $11: so fluffy, olive oil forward, and light. I loved the whipped mascarpone.Giardineria $10: an assortment of pickled cruditรฉs- it doesn't seem like much but I'm glad we ordered this as it served as a nice palette cleanser between the rich dishes. Pineapple Pizza $30: I know, I know, this is a controversial order, but Che Fico does it well! The thinly sliced pineapple offers a delicious sweet counter to the spicy, tangy marinara sauce. The crust of this pizza is dusted with Parmesan cheese and to die for. I ate the crust with the whipped mascarpone. Agnolotti Dal Plin $36: our friend who ate here before highly recommended this and we weren't let down. These soft pillows of pasta were filled with tender, flavorful short rib. Definitely get a bowl for yourself- it was hard to share as it was so good. Service at Che Fico is great. One of our friends didn't like her drink and the waitress replaced it without issue, and folded napkins when members of our party went to the bathroom. Will definitely come back for the next special occasion!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and incredible service.
Expensive but reasonable given the quality of the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyI came here with 2 friends for a weekend dinner in SF.
Some of my friends were really hyping it up so I wanted to give it a try. We were planning on going out after dinner and we intended on getting cocktails, however they did not have liquor and only had wine, which was kind of surprising. We ordered the focaccia to start and it was incredible- would definitely get this again. We ordered the cacio y Pepe and sausage pizza to share. I felt like the cacio y Pepe pasta was super cheesy it was almost overwhelming, and I'm a cheese person. The pizza was just average. Overall the food had me generally unimpressed. Lastly, there was an additional charge added to our bill, which is their dine in charge. Why not just factor that into the price of the dishes? Overall the service was lovely and the restaurant was very vibey, romantic, and beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food, very overpriced.
I had my first $50 pasta tonight ... Worth a try at least once tho, probably won't be back for a while.
Be the first to ReplySuch a special spot in sf.
The gnocchi alone should be a reason to visit. The focaccia with whipped mascarpone was amazing. The ambiance is beautiful and the food and cocktails were incredible. Highly recommend!

I attended an intimate dinner for ten in the private room at Che Fico and it was really lovely. The server was practiced at being inobtrusive while also always keeping our water and wine glasses full. The focaccia with whipped mascarpone was ridiculously good and I wish I could've gotten more of it.The insalata di cicoria with castelfranco, persimmon, Teleeka (a delicious trifecta of soft ripened sheep, cow, and goat cheese), hazelnut, and mint was exciting in a way super seasonal California produce can be. I couldn't help but take a picture of these gorgeous pink chicories.Che Fico is a very good place to host a small group dinner.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant specializes in severely overpriced food
This restaurant specializes in severely overpriced food that's drenched in olive oil. $36 is just too much money for their pasta dishes, which aren't anything special.I liked the music even though it was on the loud side. It's a big bummer that you can't order any food while waiting at the bar.

We were so disappointed with their cancellation policy that we never ate here. They require you leave your credit card number and if you cancel less than 48 hrs they charge $25 per person as a penalty. We were planning an early birthday dinner on Monday evening and unfortunately the honoree fell ill Saturday and called me . I cancelled the reservation to avoid the charge so I guess I will ever know if the food is as great as folks say.I really disliked the penalty being so unreasonable given the wave of sickness we are seeing in the City. Fortunately we did have a lovely party at a nearby Italian place that was great and does not charge penalties for illness.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience all around.
We had counter seating, which is arguable the best spot in the whole restaurant. It was really cool having the opportunity to watch all the chefs create the dishes on the menu right in front of us. We had a few short, but lovely chats with one of the chefs as well (unfortunately didn't catch his name).Every dish we had was spot on. We ordered the hand-pulled mozzarella, escarole pizza, lasagna funghi, polenta, mandarin sorbet, and kiwi budino. They were all delicious across the board, and I really have no complaints about any of them. My personal favorites were the pizza and the mandarin sorbet. The pizza crust was so light and chewy, and I loved the tang of the sourdough. The presentation of the mandarin sorbet was so fun: it was served inside of an actual mandarin!Wine recommendations from our server Kira were fantastic; and her advice to eat the polenta we took home as a breakfast dish with some fried eggs was *chef's kiss*.The only unfortunate part of the night was realizing that one of the beautiful earrings my husband gifted me had fallen off during the night! I left a voicemail with the restaurant, but I guess they never found it since I didn't get a call back.
Be the first to ReplyGiving a 2 star review for pompous attitude and service.
Food is pretty decent but their wines aren't great. They add 10% to the bill for their employees which is outrageous given dishes on the menu are over $60. Neither of us in the group, all San Franciscans, will ever return back to this restaurant unless they get over themselves and start remembering to put their customers first.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I made a reservation about a month in
My husband and I made a reservation about a month in advance to come here on a Friday night for a date night. The decor inside is amazing - it's probably the most well decorated restaurant I've been to in SF. We were thoroughly impressed by the food. Here's what we got:Focaccia - some of the best I've had. I loved how crispy it was on the outside and the cheese + olive oil was delicious with it.Salmon Crudo w Horseradish - not the best crudo I've ever had but solidly good. The horseradish was tasty but not overpowering.Grilled octopus - the BEST octopus I've ever had. It was so tender that I was doubtful I was eating octopus. Salsiccia pizza - I am a pizza fiend, and this pizza was the best I've ever had hands down. I was skeptical because it came out with tons of raw mushrooms on top, but they were delicious. The crispy crust covered in parmesan cheese was amazing.Agnolotti del plin - I have had this dish at many other pasta restaurants in SF, and Che Fico's wasn't my favorite. The flavors were great, but I thought the pieces were too big and meaty. I prefer smaller pieces of pasta in this dish. It felt like a meat dish not a pasta dish. The service was wonderful, the wine was great, the food was great. I did think the food was slightly overpriced, but I still think the overall experience was worth it.
Be the first to ReplyThis is, in my opinion, some of the best pizza in SF.
The service is good as well. Having said that, I think the pricing at this restaurant is over the top, even when we factor in current inflation. To start, the food is very expensive. A 12" Margherita pizza is $30. Pasta bolognese, $38. (The bolognese, while a staple, was unremarkable with the pasta being soggy and overcooked). Steak tartar? $36, but also not very interesting with the beef tasting less fresh than it should be.This is very expensive for what it is. But when you get the bill, they add in a 10% "dine in fee" before tax to justify the "true cost" of running the restaurant. This seems kind of absurd when it feels like this cost is already priced into the food, but it also feels like a bait and switch when they only mention this fee in very fine print on the menu. If the cost of running the restaurant is so high where they need both high prices and this fee, they ย need to change the format to something less casual. On top of that, they are very coy about whether this is a gratuity or not. Are we to assume that 10% is an automatic gratuity like other restaurants do? Apparently not. In fact, in adding a gratuity, you are paying this as a percentage of this fee as well. So now you are being double charged for service. If you go to Flour+Water, which has comparable format, food, and service, but with a greater reputation, the prices are far more reasonable. So it's not like Che Fico can claim they are doing something totally unique here.It all feels very backwards and while I enjoyed my meal, I left feeling ripped off. Although I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past, my opinion has soured based on this experience.
