Outstanding restaurant
Outstanding service (especially Oliva). The entire wait staff was extremely attentive. Food was amazing. Everything was ala carte. The portions were huge. Desserts were delicious. Worth the trip.

A wonderful dining experience. Delicious dinner with portions large enough to take some home. Our Server Stevie was witty, personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu selections. Good ambience and perfectly selected background music. Extensive dessert menu. Highly recommend Chef Vola's.

Long time local first time visit. Food was good, service was good, atmosphere was good and chairs not so good. This is a one and done place. AC does not have the same vibe as it did 20 years ago and more.

Very over rated . All hype The food Very average at best. The service is slow and the small araggant manager was terrible. My wife cooks way better Italian. Try angelos in A.C. or cappricio.
Be the first to ReplyNEVER GETS OLD
This place never gets old. It is run by professionals and the food is excellent year in and year out. A true gem of Atlantic City. we like to celebrate our wedding anniversary here.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing meal.
The 4.5/5 rating this restaurant gets is a perfect example of why I don't give any weight to online restaurant reviews. If I'm being generous, the food was edible at best and grossly overpriced. Dine here if you want to say you have, but otherwise, pick somewhere else in the area. I'm sorry chef, but your kitchen needs to step up its game.
Be the first to ReplyFeels like dinner at Grammaโs
My husband was able to get reservations for us for dinner. They only take reservations and are booked solid. Thereโs a public parking lot on the corner- $15 parking on the weekend. Olivia was our server. She was friendly and enthusiastic sharing her favorite dishes as well as the background on the restaurant. Itโs BYOB and they do have Coke products. Olivia brought us delicious bread while we checked the menu. We split the mozzarella tomato prosciutto then my husband had the veal cutlets and I had the Chilean sea bass with tequila lime honey sauce. Everything was delicious!! I wish we could come here every week. The service was great! The owners walked around the dining rooms greeting the customers and thanking them for coming. The restaurant is in a converted home which really makes it feel like youโre dining at your Grammaโs house.
Be the first to ReplyJust Incredible....Actually Lives Up To The Hype (+ Anthony)
We had heard do much about how good...make that great...the Chef Vola "experience" is and how hard it was to get a first-time reservation. We went for our 30th Anniversary and I can tell you this place lives up to its historic hype. We eat Italian often in the best places in South Philly and we finally found a restaurant that truly compares to, and often exceeds, those terrific places....Chef Vola's! One of us had the Veal...it was pounded paper thin and they said it comes from a local farm. It is not easy to match the South Philly veal...Chef Vola's certainly does. The Chicken Parm....we had them add their special blush sauce to it and what a great idea as that sauce is a one of a kind special treat. I could write paragraphs about this sauce but that would not leave room to mention how tender the Chicken Parm was....it was!! Leave room to share the desserts...we had both the Banana Cream Pie (Sinatra's favorite) and the Butterscotch Cheese Cake....WOW! We were so glad we got one of each to share....we could never yet decide which was better. Last thing...and super important....portion size. We were going to a show after dinner and actually took an Uber back to our hotel room to drop off the leftovers so we could take them home...they were huge and tasted just as good on Day Two. Our server Anthony....he was incredible and I hope we get him again as we're going back later this month just to do it....it was that special. Anthony truly was part of the "Chef Vola Experience"....super knowing about the menu and very professional as was all the staff (hard to believe how much staff they had). Just incredible....

We have dined here before. It is a BYOB. I brought a nice bottle of Chianti. We also had a Pinot Grigio. My wife had salmon. I got the bone in veal chop parmigiana. This is one of my favorite dinners. Bone in chop pounded thin. I a So had the soup, chicken.it was delicious. Anthony was our sever, excellent service. The whole staff is there for you. Can be hard to get in but weโll worth it.

Be the first to ReplyOutstanding in AC or Anywhere Else
The food and service at Chef Vola is amazing. Reservations are difficult to get, especially in-season. Itโs an old house located on a small street a block from the Tropicana. There are NO signs on the house, but youโll know youโre there by the wonderful aroma. Itโs a little pricey, but being a BYO certainly helps. The entrance has no ambiance so upon arrival you may question this review. Be patient, the best is yet to come! ENJOY!
Be the first to ReplyChef Volas is the very best.
Thatโs it. Nothing to ad. 5 stars. The best food. The best service. We have been going for years and used to go once or twice a month. Yes it is that great and that worth it. Chef Volaโs is not for everyone. It is tight, noisy, fast paced and can seem intimidating at first. We love all of that! Old school, real food. No nonsense. From the grandma bowl the giant salad arrives in to the servers knowing every inch of the menu and perfectly listing the specials, everything is done right. Always. Whether crowded or end of the night and quiet. Nothing changes. No shortcuts. No lack of professionalism or courtesy. We feel at home and at ease eating there. Itโs like family. Down in grandmas basement, eating the best food and loving every bite of it! Nothing has ever been sent back. Nothing ever poorly prepared or off. They are truly amazing. The restaurant business is rough and crazy and the Esposito family do it the best. The owners are great as well. Always friendly and welcoming. Reservations arent easy and you need to know the secret! Donโt forget the greatest homemade banana cream pie on earth!
Be the first to ReplyBest Italian you will get in AC
Everything was perfect, from the food to our waiter. We had a reservation. There's unfortunately not much of a waiting area. Luckily we were seated soon after our reservation. Our waiter was fantastic, knew the menu well and got along well with our group. The sides/pasta is done family style, so we ordered a bunch of things. Everything was so good and delicious. The sauces, so flavorful. The portions, HUGE. We ordered a little bit of everything, and while we were SO full afterwards, it was totally worth it. We're actually making plans to come back down to AC just to go to this restaurant again. If you are in AC, you need to go.

As always this restaurant delivers from start to finish. The service is outstanding. The food was delicious with plenty of leftovers for another meal. I have read some of the reviews below and I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience here. We sat upstairs in the newly renovated area and it was fabulous. We loved everything from the bread to the desserts. They now offer credit cards as a way to pay.
Be the first to ReplyGood but disappointing
Chef Vola's was recommended and we were told the food was excellent but pricey. I don't mind paying a higher price if the food is better than average. Chef Vola hit one out of two... price was high but food was only average. The dining room is in lower level of an old home. Tables were very close together with little room for chairs. Plenty of choices on menu to meet anyone's likes. Service was amazingly good - actually great. You could make requests to any of the staff and they took care of it immediately. The portions were huge. One of my favorites is lightly bread bone-in veal chop. But when I saw the size, even though it looked outstanding, I didn't order it because we had plans after dinner. We made reservations for 6:00 but didn't need them. Still, I would recommend reservations. I'd recommend taking a taxi or ride share because parking is limited. It's a short walk to the Tropicana casino. Though it was only average, the food was good so you might want to give it a try.
Be the first to ReplyDONT WASTE YOUR MONEY..TRULY OVERRATED
It all started by a man peeing right outside the front door to entrance, then I went inside and the smell of old dirty bar rags hit my nose. that place needs to replace its rugs, paint and just a good cleaning from ceiling to floors. upstairs to our table, bumping into the wait staff bringing uncovered food to other tables. then sitting down with a Plastic table cloth !! I swear it weighed about 5 pounds.. the food then came, every single item we ordered was horrible. from the broccoli rabe to the signature cutlet.. the oil was so old, the rancid-ness burned my throat.. the staff was great but the rest of the over 300.00 dinner tab was horrendous !
Be the first to ReplyNot Impressed
My husband & I were quite excited to finally be able to score a reservation on a Saturday night to Chef Vola's. I'm saddened to report that the food was sub par at best. They upsell you all night, and recommend only the most expensive meals on the menu. If you want a side of pasta with your Chicken Parm its an extra $14.25, and no free refills on soda, which was never told to us until we received the bill. The restaurant is an old house. The downstairs bathroom is located in the kitchen where the dishwasher is. Our dining experience was so tight & uncomfortable. A party of two and your table is the size of a TV Tray stand, while you are awkwardly sharing a meal with the couple next to you. People who have the use the bathroom are knocking into your seat as they pass by because the pathway is so narrow. The owner came to visit a table to our left, yet never acknowledge us or anyone else which was quite rude. The only positive was our servers were lovely, we had four of them. Yes, four. The experience was overall a total disappointment despite the service. Lastly, if you do decide to give this place a try whatever you do, do NOT arrive early. The waiting area is the size of a small closet and people need to get by to also check in and/or exit the building through this so-called lobby. We arrived ten minutes early, not knowing how long we would be waiting for a cab from the Borgata. It was a cold night in November and waiting outside was not an option. So good luck, you've been warned, not worth it.
