Amazing restaurant! We went for my partner's birthday celebration with family that came in from out of the town. Every dish was beautifully presented as well as delicious. Nothing disappointed from appetizers to main course to dessert and drinks. Everything tasted so fresh, true to its farm-to-table motto. And the ambiance of the restaurant was very cozy and thoughtfully decorated. Our server was very nice and had great recommendations about what drinks to pair with what food. Just make sure to get a reservation in advance! They opened up one month before you'd want to go

Back in the 80s I lived on Cedar street just a few blocks from Chez Panisse. I never ate there because the reservations were difficult and the costs were way out of my price range. I owned their cookbook and her Pizza and Calazone cookbook but the recipes at the time were out of reach. Luckily, my daughter and son-in-law took me here for my birthday. The Bay Area was the cutting edge for innovative cuisine world wide in the 80s and 90s and Alice Waters' Chez Panisse was the epicenter of innovation. A lot of the iconic restaurants from that era have closed like The Mandarin and Bay Wolf but Chez Panisse has stood the test of time. For that reason alone it is a "must eat here" just from a historical perspective. So here is how it scored from best to worst:Pizza with Sprouting Broccoli $25 - 5/5: the pizza was fabulous. I own a wood fired pizza oven and make a lot of pizza but my pizza can't compare.Apple and Huckleberry Galette $14 - 5/5 best galette everOlives and Anchovies $7 5/5: I eat a lot of olives and these were kind of addicting LOLTagliatelle with Wild Mushrooms $28 - 5/5 the fresh pasta was divine but a little under seasoned Beef Sirloin with Tapenade $40 - 4/5: it was good but not greatLittle Gem and Blood Orange Salad $17 - 4/5: I liked this saladRadicchio, Beets and Shrimp Salad: $19 - 3/5: the flavors didn't work for me, but if you LOVE radicchio and beets, you'll love this saladChicken and Polenta $29 - 2.5/5: it was OK but I couldn't discern any saffron and it was very under seasoned. Honestly, COSTCO sets the standard for roast chicken and all restaurants which serve roast chicken must exceed that standard. Sad but true.The service here is exceptional 5/5. Given the labor shortage and inflation, Chez Panisse has definitely prioritized service over value and quality. It was a mixed bag for sure, but overall it was a fabulous lunch. The venue is very comfortable and not overly pretentious. I would definitely return to eat the pizza, pasta, salad and desert. The entrees for me were pricey for the quality and serving size. Check it out.

I had high expectations coming into it so it was hard to overcome. I don't think it was the best meal ever but it was top notch in service and experience. We had a perfectly cooked lamb our night. I would recommend going to this establishment if you're a foodie.

While the upstairs cafe remains beautiful, and the service warm and welcoming, we were very disappointed in the quality of our food. Having been to the cafe over 70 times, and having wonderful family memories, we were sad to see that the food was so subpar. Leave this restaurant as a beautiful memory, the food pre-prepared, oversalted, and very dated and clunky. With so many young chefs that are creating such innovative dishes based on Alice's premise, this restaurant needs a full overhaul of the menu, food and presentation.

So my kids surprised me and my hubby with dinner at Chez Panisse. I haven't been this excited fir a dining experience in a long time. We had the pre fixe menu with the wine pairing. Everything was delicious and fresh. The wines paired wonderfully. And the service was exceptional. I loved watching the team in the kitchen. Great experience. Enjoy.

A pretentious and delicious culinary experience for those who have disposable income. We were granted an opportunity to dine here recently for an occasion, and the reservation was many years (and savings) in the making. It costs more than $450 for 2 people for dinner with taxes and tip. The food was great, per myth and expectations. The menu changes frequently, so you never know what you're going to be served, but we were lucky enough to get a lovely four-course meal. The bread was freshly baked, the butter freshly churned. They served fancy appetizers and gorgeous citrus salads with unique dressing. And we had a homemade mushroom pasta dish that was memorable. Main course was steak served rare with a side of small potatoes. But despite the good food, I'm not sure it's worth the hype. It's impossible to get a reservation, unless you want to dine at 9 PM. You have to book months in advance, and it requires regularly refreshing the web page to get any availability. The experience is high-end, pretentious and exceedingly full of itself. And while food is a wonderful thing, it feels wasteful bordering on obnoxious to spend so much money on a meal when so many people and Berkeley and Oakland are surviving on so little. Real talk.

What’s wrong ? We visited in August of 2022 and the cafe was excellent. This time in December horrible. Server BIG TIME attitude. “If you don’t like what you are doing go find another place to work “ Salads pomegranate 5/10 no love here. Fruit was dry and salad was placed on the plate fast food style. Farmer salad dressing boring I mean really boring Mushroom pizza 5/10 salty crust, flavors not inspiring at all Confit duck 2/10 totally over done. Dry and not edible Orecchiette pasta with chili and garbanzo beans 1/10 really ? This was so basic and thrown together we almost returned the dish. So sad … Huckleberry and lemon ice cream 1/10 so so so sweet it wasn’t edible period Apple tart 9/10 excellent crust and delicious. I think it’s time to have a sit down and ask what are we trying to accomplish here. Following this establishment since the day it opened. It’s not me it’s YOU ! We can’t wait for the new team to arrive. Merry Christmas!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
