Be the first to ReplyAwesome spacious restaurant with a large selection of foods
Awesome spacious restaurant with a large selection of foods from curry rice plates to ramen bowls to BBQ items. They do serve alcohol here as well! I always prefer Japanese BBQ over KBBQ as I feel like the meat quality and the seasoning are better. JBBQ focus more on quality and less on sauce whereas KBBQ like to drench the meats with sauce which make them taste sickening more easily. The meat quality here is above average and I think they are reasonably priced. We also tried some appetizers, ramen, and the rice plates. They were all good. Service was a bit slow as I did ask for water 3+ times before I finally got my water, but the server was nice and wasn't grumpy or rude :) I will come back when I crave for Yakiniku again.

I wish they had an AYCE option because the meats were really good but quite pricey for a platter. We got a variety of meats to share for the table. I think my favorite will always be the Harami! The galbi was tasty as well! We also got the karaage and that came in super big pieces and fried to perfection. We also got the yellowtail Kama- that was good too although they needed to give you some Kama sauces. Overall quality meats, just a little pricey so you can't really binge unless you wanna spend hella $$.

I am so happy when they reopen for lunch on Fri through weekend now. Nothing can compete with high quality meat with variety of choices such as pork belly, galbi, seafood... come a long with hospitality. The servers all are very friendly, take care of customers and always very nice. This place also good for snacks and beer with big groups. Also they have Mori Ramen next door you can just order it and munch the ramen along w Bbq. I love Japanese culture not like Dan Iztakaya sth increase the tips by themselves not under the customers consent while their service is nothing.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is my boyfriend and I's favorite japanese bbq
This place is my boyfriend and I's favorite japanese bbq spot in San Jose! We usually try not to go out too often to save money, but we always try and make it a point to come here at least once a month. Whenever any friends or family are visiting from out of town, this is definitely our go to place as well! The reason why we're so obsessed with this place is because the quality of meat is SO good and you can definitely tell when you are eating. Not only that, but the service has always been really friendly pretty consistently, you can tell that (I HOPE) they really like their jobs :) Definitely go for their happy hour as well because they have a great happy hour!
Be the first to ReplyHusband suggested we try something new for dinner one night
Husband suggested we try something new for dinner one night and we ended up at Chikara. We arrived right when their doors opened for dinner, but was told their BBQ area was completely booked by reservations.Tip: Make a reservation if you're looking to grill. If you're not grilling, they have another seating area for people who are ordering their other menu items like udon, ramen, and rice bowls. We were told their bar grill-area was available so we grabbed those seats. We ordered their large (5oz) kalbi and large (5oz) harami. The marinades on both of these were delicious, sweet and savory. I preferred the kalbi, which was fatter and juicier, but husband preferred the harami, which had the loveliest marbling. We also tried their hot stone braised pork and rice which was delicious. Meat was tender, sour kimchi to compliment, and topped with a sunny side up egg. Of course I couldn't resist and ordered a whole grilled salt and pepper squid - tasty as well, and reminded me of my time in Vietnam. The service here was great, with all the wait staff being genuine and friendly.Husband and I would definitely come back (with a reservation so we can have a table all to ourselves).

Found my new favorite Japanese BBQ spot in Santa Clara! Chikara is the place to be! You order a la carte meat and veggies dishes that are cooked on a grill in the center of your table. There are precooked hot dishes to accompany your meal as well. Everything we ordered was fantastic:*Karage*Gyoza*Garlic fried rice*Kalbi*Harami*Chuck eyeroll *Assorted vegetables*Spicy miso ramen
Be the first to ReplyTips:-get here early, this place is packed quickly.
It looks like there is space but it's less than you think and the parking lot is small -bring clothes to you don't mind smelling like sesame oil and smoke after eating-ask for a new grill top when it starts to get too dirty and sticky-bring your wallet, this place is a la carteFood here was worth it, and servers were really nice once we were seated. But when waiting for a table you may feel completely ignored. If you can push through everything else will flow quickly and easily. Something I appreciated was they will serve you a lemon sour if you request it. I didn't see it on the menu but they do serve it and it's like a hard lemonade (the best ones don't have any extra sugar, just a lot of lemon, sochu)Anyways, this place has really great quality.
