Chiltern Firehouse London Reviews from The Last 180 Days
Enjoyed a delicious business lunch in the restaurant, followed by some drinks in the bar. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or special treat! Everything we ate and drank was delicious and the service was very good. Look forward to returning soon.
Completing my visits to Andre Balazsā holy trinity of Chateau Marmont, Sunset Beachā¦was drinks and dinner at Chilton Firehouse midweek one March evening - a cleverly designed, exclusive (8 years from opening) fire station converted into a 5 star hotel, brasseries-style restaurant and bar.
The glamour and atmosphere alone make this place worth a visit and itās good to see it hadnāt lost its appeal as one of Londonās most exclusive places to see and be seen. It does feels like itās a members club (which it isnāt) but youāll need to book fairly early in advance to get a table or āknow someoneā to get in at shorter notice. There seems to be permanent paparazzi stationed outside waiting for a glimpse of the regular A-list and celebrity guests and plenty of people dressed the part once inside. The clientele is otherwise distinctly European and American these days like many of Londonās other premium hotspots, no bad thing.
We had the chargrilled whole roast spatchcocked chicken which was excellent with a fantastically moreish homemade cookie trio with vanilla ice cream (not quite as formulaic as it sounds I assure you). Of course dinner was never going to be cheap but I was still rather surprised at being charged £38 for the grilled Carabinero prawn starter dish, which featured a pair of small-ish prawns looking rather embarrassed on a large plate. At least we could have one each. Whilst that did put a slight dampener on the experience, the drinks, waiting service and (prawns aside) quality of the food was first rate.
I distinguish waiting staff from general staff as the other staff we encountered from the cloakroom attendant to the door greeter seemed a bit haughty and aloof - just something to keep an eye on because whilst that can be overlooked when places like this first open up and are in their prime, 8+ years later theyāre going to start needing to be more welcoming to guests as the power balance inevitably shifts. Weāve seen it all before!
Itās hard to beat drinks here on the terrace on a warm evening too if you donāt fancy staying for dinner.
The restaurant was phenomenal - I went here for my 30th birthday after visiting back in 2015.
If you can get a spot in the garden it's perfect on a hot day. The food was great, and the cocktails even better.
Our waiter Lorenzo was extremely on point; great customer service. After we had our food we were originally planning to leave however they found us a spot in the bar and stayed until close drinking some cocktails.
Naturally on the expensive side, we spent £330 between two - that was champagne, x2 three course meals and 3 cocktails each.
To top it off they were filming a film or something similar outside which was fun.
Had lunch there and it was really mediocre food. Also, had chicken that was supposed to be boneless but had a bone in it. My pan con tomato was the worst I ever had. The sauce was so garlicky, I nearly choked. I would never eat there again.
It took 20mins to get any service despite repeated attempts to get the waiters attention. While attempting to lift the plate, the waiter dropped the sourdough bread onto the serving tray and then proceeded to pick it up, place it back on the plate before placing it on our table. The correct response should have been to apologise, go back to the kitchen and get fresh bread. I highlighted this to another remember of staff who apologised and brought out āfreshā bread, only all 3 slices were burnt. I have to wonder if they simply placed the same slices back in the oven and brought them out again.
Service for the rest of the meal was through gritted teeth because we dared to complain.
After mains we were told our time for the table was almost up. I reminded them that we only received service after 20mins and were then able to stay until we finished our dessert.
We were told we could continue to enjoy our drinks outside in the terrace under heaters. Despite there being a few good tables available, we were given the least desirable spot in front of the entrance with a small heater.
Food is massively over-priced for what it is and the attitude of the staff is deplorable. They definitely think they are above the rest.
Wow ā we were literally scoffed at by our waiter, treated with disrespect the whole time and the food was burned and substandard. Give this place a miss. They think theyāre above you.
Food was blend and portions were small - certainly not what was expected given the price tag - certainly not worth it. On a par with a chain restaurant
Poor start as we waited for 15 mins for doorman to acknowledge we where there⦠your in the restaurant that say - another 10 minute wait - your late they say tersely ⦠and you need to leave in an hour and half ⦠serious staff attitude . Waiter was a joker using sarcasm and talking far too fast - really badly trained Oh the food you may ask ⦠ok is the best I can say no better than that - rib eye for two at Ā£120 was modest and the extras extortionate fries Ā£9 Only thing that was good was the cheese board Feeling fleecedā¦. We left with no attention or thank you from the staffā¦. But why bother with customer service when people are queuing to still get in.. For 2 people Ā£306 .. sat so close to others we could hear their whole conversation Avoid and save your money for a quality restaurant with proper service
We ordered the duck to share It was plentiful But there was no sauce So it was a bit bland. Itās was moist but not juicy. Extra sauce was needed. Again, we ordered two sides which also limited in flavour
Somewhat pretentious- a Ā£50 bottle of red was described as āvalueā. Not sure what planet the waiting staff descend from.
I canāt even find the words to explain my utter disappointment that you are no longer making crab donuts, you are renowned for that special dish. I arrived yesterday like a child walking into toys r us! Only to have my hopes and dreams shattered when a member of staff had told me the devastating news.
I hope youāll put this mistake right then we can move on with our relationship!!!
This bar...I mean the fire place, the martinis, the waiters in the cute jump suits heerrmmmmm (noise of excitement). I could marry for money and spend all my time here, not mad about it. Also the hotel rooms looks like a blind vampire designed them, in a good way
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
