Excellent evening vibe. Food is wonderful but some dishes are over priced like the Peking Duck and Dover Sole. The bar area is the one to go for dinner, very relaxed and buzzing

We had a fantastic experience here. The food we had was great. Of not was the pawn toast and the spring rolls and the sea bass was amazing - although perhaps needs some spice ? We were served promptly and all our order turned up in a timely fashion. I love the decor here and the ambiance is great too.

Basement rating for a basement restaurant

The location of the restaurant in the basement of Dorchester is befitting the basement quality of the food and service in China Tang. The food was completely bland tasteless and unremarkable. At the end of the meal, they had the cheek to try to charge me service charge twice! A truly pathetic experience. If you want poor food, even worse service and be charge twice for it, the please go there immediately!

The fact that this restaurant is based in Mayfair and it’s part of the Dorchester hotel you would have some high expectations of the food and service but I was very let down!

Unfortunately there is honestly nothing special about this place.

Service - Was not up to standard. Seating staff was missing, no drinks menu, no complimentary pickled cucumber.
The staff could have placed napkin on the lap and pulled out the chair but nothing of such.

Food - Mediocre, honestly don’t know what the fuss is about. You could get something as decent or even better locally most probably.

Value - overly priced i think for what it is, your paying for location and name.

Main restaurant decor - Nothing to great, type of style of decor you would find at your local Chinese restaurant, very outdated.
Although reception and bar looked great.

Lived & worked in Hong Kong & China for 27 years so have a fair idea on the subject of Chineese food
China Tang was always exceptional but like many have been missing for a year from the dining scene.
Well happy to say nothing has changed, still clearly amongst the very very best.
Food quality is exceptional, staff improved service & I noted how much they clearly wanted the customers to enjoy their visit
With all trip advisors one needs to cover food menue, wine list, ambience & so on …..
Pointless here it’s expensive & worth every penny.
A dinning experience that does not translate.
Strongly suggest you visit & try for yourself .
No disappointments in sight at China Tang

What a treat. Absolutely fantastic menu - great variety of dim sum and Chinese classics. Recommend the truffle and wagyu dim sum to start, crispy chilli beef was spectacular, soft shell crab superb and a new favourite was the steamed prawns with garlic. Delicious white wine, recommend having a delicious cocktail in the bar beforehand. Authentic delicious Chinese food, definitely worth the higher price tag - restaurant could do with a spruce though.

First visit to China Tang but most certainly wont be the last. Thoroughly enjoyed the theatre of the duck presentation. Food was excellent, atmosphere was equally as good. Definitely will return.

Outstanding food and quality . The reason i have been visiting this restaurant for the past 11 years it’s the taste of their food , The Cocktails are amazing however the server was cold maybe she was tired .

I used to go to China Tang with my parents as a child and was an avid visitor until pre-lockdown always have fond memories. Celebrated my most recent birthday here and was so shocked. The service was bad, our waiter was quite icy, the gent taking our drinks orders was lovely though. The food I found was quite bland. I never used to have this problem at China Tang. I think the pandemic may have affected them. I hope China Tang finds their way again.

I have dined at China Tang several times over the last decade on visits to London. This was my first post COVID and although having to adjust my expectations somewhat feel that there is work to do to get this restaurant back on track.We had a glass of champagne which was not poured at the table, seemed a little light on the bubbles and a flute three quarters full at the princely sum of twenty five pounds.A polite word with the manager led to them doubling down saying, "this is how we always do this". OK....The food was not up to par - the chicken squab was tasteless, the prawns though were decent.I feel that whilst a challenging time for the hospitality industry it is likely better to offer a reduced menu at the highest standards than allow things to slide and hide behind the pandemic. It risks regulars moving on especially as new openings gather pace...

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
