Spectacular restaurant in Chinatown NYC
Excellent choice in Chinatown in New York Excellent atmosphere, fully booked, very careful attention. each dish richer than the last, the fried rice, the five-star steak, and also the branzino are highly recommended. Highly recommended, I would definitely return
Be the first to ReplyGood atmosphere, exotic food!
Environment: Rating 10 Drinks: Rating 10; Highlight for the Golden Ratio Starters: Rating 9.0 - Highlights include lobster toast/spicy shrimp and tolinho Primavera; Main dish: Rating 7.5- Exotic, tasty, but low in protein since it was a Kung Bao Chcikenโฆ the standard dropped a little It's worth it in the end

Very well decorated place, in a Chinatown alley with history. The food is very good but be careful with the spiciness for those who are not used to it!
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere and staff
Great venue for a special night. Prices are good for portion size and staff help you decide what they think will be enough based on how hungry you are. Some great tasting food and whilst choices are not extensive they are varied with everyone catered for. Ambience is brilliant with interesting back story. Nathan was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and theatrical which we loved. He made the evening very special for us.

the food is very good, the staff is very professional, like the owner who is explosive, but very kind
Be the first to ReplyA gem of a place
A gem of a place. Highlights include, the crispy eggplant, oxtail buns and the lobster noodles. Venue looks modest and unassuming from the outside but is chic and stylish on the inside.

Chinese Tuxedo was our best dining experience and night in our New York holiday. The food was divine. Flavours, textures, quality, presentation and service. It was quite loud, but itโs a hip, happening place on a Saturday night so we loved the vibe and the decor is really hipster too. After our dinner, we were invited to the speakeasy downstairs which was an added bonus. What a great way to cap the night, as the dj had a great vibe and the place was bouncing. Iโd highly recommend this place to anyone on a visit to New York.

Didnโt know what to expect when we walked through some alleys of Chinatown to arrive at a non impressive storefront but once we entered, you enter into a completely different place that is both chic and inviting. We started with an appetizer of burrita, pork dumplings and cruda. All were well prepared with a combination of seasonings that were creative and satisfying. The fried chicken and eggplant were excellent and the desserts creative and satisfying. Our server Jasper was excellent! Would definitely return!

Absolutely solid entry to the NYC Chinatown Scene! Can't say that the place warrants a Michelin star but for a local eatery it is innovative and well executed. Went here with friends for dinner. Dinner was excellent. The food was impeccable: - Hamachi Crudo - Burrata - Oxtail Buns - Shrimp and Sesame Toast - Sirloin - Branzino - Creme Brulee I have not been disappointed with any of the dishes we ordered. To be completely honest the food on the menu can be ordered by randomly dropping pins and pointing over to anything on the menu. It is that good. Music can be a little softer though but I get why it is not.

Beautiful restaurant with a very interesting menu. Our biggest mistake was ordering too much food but everything we ordered was incredible. This is very different food from any we have ever had. Wonderful place!
Be the first to ReplyGood food but questionable serviceโฆ
Adrian shared that pairs of 2 usually order one plate per category (a total of 5). Out of the entire menu, 2 items stuck out to my friend and I. He reminded us of the โtype of orderโ that is expected to fulfill a reservation? Seriously? Then he says next time we should try to order one from each. We are all paying customers and it is a shame that he would make us feel less then. He didnโt know what we were capable of ordering or spending. Very disappointing experience. The food was good. While waiting for our Uber in an enclosed area attached to the front of the restaurant, one of the hosts came out and asked if we needed something. We told them we were waiting for our Uber and he said โokay you just canโt smoke hereโ- we donโt know where that came from. We feel that we were racially profiled and discriminated, as two women of color. Unacceptable.

The food was just wow! We took the tasting menu and it was awesome. Vibe is great as well and great bars to go after just next door

A lovely restaurant, very cool and fun ambiance. Very good food, go ahead and order your favourite dishes to share. Kind and helpful personnel, big recommendation!
Be the first to ReplyTruly amazing experience
We first visited Chinese Tuxedo 2019 ( on vacation from London UK) we had a great experience and this was on the top of our list. We were not disappointed the food menu has slightly changed but the quality and choice is excellent. The chefs are creative and dishes are unusual but delicious! The staff are professional and attentive. This is definitely in the top 5 best Chinese restaurants in NYC
Be the first to ReplyNot your typical Chinese restaurant
Excellent food with complex flavors and texture. A relief that its menu is not what one would expect from a typical Chinese restaurant. Far more diverse in ingredients and preparation. This, and the unique ambience and atmosphere makes for a very pleasurable dining experience.

Quality and professionalism from the entrance to the dishes and the service...top! I recommend it with no reserves!

Chinese tuxedo NYC Hold on to your hats. Excellent hidden away spot i China Town. Love it Fun spot. Excellent food. Two bars. Speak easy downstairs for after party.
Four seasons downtown NYC located a host walk away.
Chinese food
Over price bad quality Chinese food, only for white people make them money for white employees there
Be the first to ReplyGo to Hutong instead!
I like to go to haute Chinese cuisine for CNY. Being Chinese, and having dined at top Chinese and western restaurants in NY, I generally know how dishes at establishments like Chinese Tuxedo ought to taste. It was a miss for the most part.
Decor- too loud and too dark. The venue is beautiful, but given the decibel of noise level and basically utter darkness, more fitting for CT to be billed as a bar (indeed it has a subterranean cocktail bar called Peachyโs).
Service- guys we are all still reeling from omicron in the city, ok?! The darn waiter and a couple of other staff members had no mask on. NOT acceptable. And sometimes our waters were filled; sometimes not. Very hard for waitstaff to deliver topnotch service when it is sooooo loud. No one could hear what the waiter was saying.
Food- CT bills itself as a Cantonese or Cantonese inspired restaurant. Cantonese cuisine is generally spiceless; however, this place overused spices to the extent that the spiciness bastardized the fundamental, underlying flavors of the dishes. This rings true from their dumplings to the $42 beef dish that tried to combine Korean BBQ and Sichuan flavors into one but failed miserablyโฆ
We had 3 different types of dumplings, a specialty appetizer, fried rice, noodles, fish and the above-mentioned beef. So yes we ordered and tasted enough dishes for me to be able to say that half of them were simply NOT good.
Go to Hutong instead for true haute Chinese cuisine, with gorgeous decor but where you can still have a conversation. And truly gracious service.
But if you prefer a bar type joint where you have to scream to be heard, and where the waitstaff act like they know how to serve truly graciously, and with dishes that were mostly missesโฆ top all this with a relatively hefty price tag โ then this place is for you.
Cozy and Chic. Incredible Service.
Flavorful food. Cozy, contemporary vibe. But the very best part is the service. Shiitake and shepherd's purse dumplings were beautifully presented, delicious, delicate, and had just the right amount of heat. Crispy eggplant... just amazing! Try it. You will not regret it. Spicy Mi Goreng (minus the egg) had szechuan spice and was perfect on a chilly, winter night. I'm vegan and when we sat down at our table, our server, Adrian, immediately presented me with a list that he had handwritten of vegan options available on the menu. He was perfectly attentive but never hovered. Best server we have had in a very long time.
Be the first to ReplyMost horrible experience
Most horrible hygiene at Chinese tuxedo. Food was average. Some dishes were good and some were bad what was most shocking was the hygiene standard. We got dessert spoons which were completely and disgustingly unclean. Photos attached. And then to top it all my daughter had a very bad stomach pain which we are yet dealing with at 1.30 am. Not sure whether they are connected but Chinese tuxedo needs to get their act together simply apology for dirty spoons doesnโt do it to jeopardize the clients health and well being.

Without a doubt my favorite hang out right now. Whether your riding solo, on a hot date or treating the fam, this restaurant is fabulous. Food is delicious, staff are attentive and clearly love their job which shows in how they treat you. Sexy decor, buzzing atmosphere (Friday night). Chef's cooking up magic in the kitchen. The Strange Flavor Burrata, Roast Duck Special and Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice are must haves. Definitely taking left overs home with me.

We had dinner there in September 2019. It's only now that I find time for a review ! Never mind...
Food was excellent and of outstanding quality. What is really different ist that kind of fusion cuisine that is not exaggerated but perfectly balanced.
Highly recommendable!
Great food on Chinese New Year
Came here a little nervous about the prix-fixe menu for Chinese New Year, but everything was excellent -- noodles, shrimp toasts, dumplings. All flavorful and creative. Our least favorite was the Sea Bass, though it was fairly good I'd go for something else next time.
Atmosphere was fine, though we expected it to be a shade more elegant. Wine pours kind of small :(. Service was okay, though granted it was a very busy night.
We would definitely come back for the food -- would try the regular menu next time. The prix-fixe at $88 per was pricy.
I love this part of China Town, with the old windy, gritty, narrow streets. Very charming, very New York.
