We arrived pretty late in the evening.
The place was pretty packed, but we were seated very quickly. I really like the vibe of the place. It was very moody since that day it was raining outside. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. The place was a bit loud. I ordered the pork Berkshire pork chop. The middle of the pork seemed a bit under cooked, but since it was very late (after 10:30pm), I decided to not bother the kitchen staff. The sautéed rapini had a good bite, and the balsamic glaze complemented the cooked parts of the pork chop. I decided to take my portion to go and reheated it on a skillet. The meat was already well seasoned, so it was good after thoroughly cooking it through.

The food here was so delicious! There wasn't one menu item that we ordered that didn't taste good. I really liked the potato gnocchi and salmon. The bread was also delicious. Our server was very nice and helpful. I loved the atmosphere with all the plants and warm lighting. I will definitely be coming back to try other items.

I've been meaning to check out this place for brunch for awhile, but haven't had the opportunity until recently. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and their patio does have heaters. There's also a fairly large bar area with high top tables and first come, first serve seating. I thought all of the food that I had was really good, and the portion sizes weren't too bad either. These plates are meant to be shared, but there are a few that will suffice as a single entree. The Wild Flower Honey Butter toast is AMAZING. The soft scramble was surprisingly good as well. For my drink, I enjoyed the Hello is the Final Word cocktail. They warn you on the menu that it's spicy, but I still wasn't ready for that heat. I swear they put a ghost pepper in it or something. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and think it's a solid brunch offering in the area.
Be the first to ReplyThe brunch food was beyond amazing.
Each dish had so much distinct flavor and was curated perfectly. The service was excellent with quick orders and the food coming out at a reasonable time. Whether you sit outside by the patio or inside the cozy and chic interior makes the experience even better. The Vietnamese coffee was by far the best coffee I have had in D.C.

My friend wanted to celebrate her birthday at Chloe and it did not disappoint! As a larger group, we had a set menu of items that were ordered ahead of time so we could all share several of their dishes. We were given the Roasted Beet Salad (super fresh), Caramelized Cauliflower (flavor was delicious), Spiced French Toast, Soft Scrambled Eggs with Wild Mushrooms, Norwegian Salmon, Penne Pasta with Pork Bolognese (great mixed spices), and Crispy Lemongrass Chicken. Everything tasted delicious and it was all just great flavors all around. Overall, a great dining experience as a group. The decor is chic and the open kitchen concept is so nice especially with the hanging plants. Our server was attentive and everyone really enjoyed dining there. A great spot for brunch!
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing Valentines Day experience.
..From the entering reception to the very end, it was all just "meh". First, we were treated poorly when we needed to dine outside. Why advertise your heated outdoor space if you are not using it and treat your guests as an inconvenience for requesting it? Next, at a restaurant of this supposed level and caliber, no one inquired about any of our dietary restrictions or allergies. Our final analysis: overhyped and basic. We ordered many dishes and most were underwhelming. Did not feel like a Michelin-rated meal at all. Tuna Tartare was the surprise standout. Chicken was good but actually lacked a bit of flavor. Gnocchi was one-note and boring - I don't get the hype at all. Cauliflower was overpowered by tahini, too creamy and imbalanced as it relates to flavor- it was kind of gross, actually; yams and mushrooms were super dry and weirdly textured- disagree wholeheartedly with previous reviewers there. We skipped dessert, as at that point, we gave up. Wine selection was limited and our choices were uninspiring and expensive. Server was helpful and friendly for the most part - Kudos to Kelvin. Replace or re-assign the hostess; she is very unwelcoming, unfriendly and didn't take any initiative. Or better yet, provide customer service training to your staff!
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped by Chloe for dinner on a recent Sunday.
This restaurant has been on our list to try for sometime now. It was easy to make a reservation online. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated soon. The host and service staff was very friendly and gave us good suggestions on what to order. The ambiance is also very welcoming and lively. We ordered a few cocktails and all were made well:La Lavande - It was a good drink but a tad bit too sour, but adding some Simple Solution made it perfect!Snearkernet - This drink had wonderful flavors to enhance the flavor of the Bourbon Hello is the Final Word - True to the description, it had a good spicy kick! The drink was worth the heat and I really enjoyed it.For the meal we ordered the following:Roasted Beet Salad - very fresh and light and a perfect start to the mealRoasted Jewel Yams and Wild Mushrooms - a wonderful combination of Yams and Wild Mushrooms. The spices seemed to be on the higher side but it went well with the dish.Norwegian Salmon - cooked perfectly with a melt-in-your-mouth finish!Potato Gnocchi - one of the best versions of Gnocchi that I have eaten - could have ordered a few of these! For the dessert we ordered Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse - the taste was wonderful but I wish the mousse was a bit lighter.A definite gem in the DMV!

The food is terrific. Great spot for date night too! Try the half chicken with sticky rice! The penne is also so good, extra pepper flakes please
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal food.
I can't believe I have yet to post a review, especially because this has been a DC favorite of mine for a few years now. The fish and chicken entrees during dinner service, are exceptional! Brunch is also quite lovely.... and the drinks are out of this world!

Dinner here is a MUST! Every item ordered was amazing! I took a friend here to catch up, and we loved every bite we had. We started with the whipped ricotta which was a great way to start the meal alongside a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. The ricotta came with a light salad and grilled bread. I loved the slight sweetness from the cherries and honey. Next we got the cauliflower that was crispy, tangy, nutty. It's coated in a light tahini and topped with fresh herbs and pine nuts. We loved having this to get a simply, yet standout veggie addition to the meal.Next up was the potato gnocchi which came with little mushrooms, tomatoes, and corn. WOW. I loved it so much I ordered one to bring back for my roommate to try. It was light and summery, but so flavorful! Our main was the spiced chicken. Please don't miss this one!! I normally don't prefer chicken over other entrees, but this one is unlike any other. The skin was so crispy and the meat couldn't be more juicy and tender. It comes with a vinegar sauce, but I didn't think it even needed it (though, it was tasty). Under the chicken sits a bed of sticky rice that soaks up all the flavors of the chicken and is the perfect bite!! I also loved how perfectly cooked the broccoli I was that comes with it. The portion was definitely more than my friend and I could finish, but that just meant we got to have leftovers for the next day . Even though we were full, we had to try their dessert. We went with the chocolate mousse topped with Oreo crumble, caramel and nuts. It was simple and light, but a yummy way to end the meal on a sweeter note. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The food was standout. The environment is nice and even more fun if you go for the chefs counter to watch as they cook the food. My friend drove and was able to find street parking right outside, which was a bonus for her.I'm hoping to come back to try their brunch next! You can't go wrong with anything you get here.
Be the first to ReplyDinner at Chloe was a very enjoyable experience and I will
Dinner at Chloe was a very enjoyable experience and I will definitely be returning. Great location, first of all. Has patio seating for summer/those who aren't comfortable eating indoors. Great indoor decor; very modern, chic, open, well-lit/natural light. My friend and I both started off with mocktail versions of mint juleps, which were very refreshing on a hot summer day. We then had the ricotta and toast, which had a lovely summer preparation and the bread was grilled perfectly. We also ordered the hummus, cauliflower, and gnocchi. The hummus itself was very good, but it was topped with a veal mixture--which sounded intriguing on the menu, but it was ground veal which I thought was bizarre--not a very elegant appearance and really did not pair well with the hummus IMO. I usually like meat paired with hummus, but this was greasy and had a ground meat texture that didn't make sense. It would be better if it was a pulled/braised meat instead, and ideally would have better color contrast (the brownish/tan color of the ground veal was essentially the same as the hummus). Again though, the hummus itself was good and had a very smooth texture. The cauliflower came highly recommended, as the waiter said it's one of their most popular dishes. Although I liked it, I thought the tahini "dressing" was WAY too heavy; I like the idea of tahini on caramelized cauliflower and the pairing makes sense, but it was just really overly dressed and overwhelmed the actual cauliflower flavor. Lastly, the gnocchi dish was an A+ and is why this restaurant is still getting 4 stars. One of the best 'pasta' dishes I've had in awhile, and not even from a pasta/Italian restaurant! The gnocchi were super light and not at all dense, they were seared first so had some color to them, and the sauce/vegetables they were in was just delicious--buttery but somehow not too heavy, and lots of fresh spring vegetables blanched to perfection. I did not try dessert on this visit but hope to next time!Service was quick and plates came out as they were ready. Portions were definitely on the smaller side, but that's to be expected of this kind of restaurant where it's all about sharing 'small plates' anyway.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant has a great atmosphere and amazing food.
Their roasted chicken and whole fried fish are impeccable. We also tried their hummus. I never had a hummus like that with veal on the top. Amazing food.

Recommend making reservations on Resy Ambiance: Very cute and intimate place for date night or a large group (there was a party of like 8 there). The portion sizes are a little small but the server mentioned people get 2 dishes a person. We did 2 entrees, 1 side (fingerling potatoes), and 1 dessert to share and it was perfect! And 2 glasses of wine (Sauvignon Blanc) was so refreshing. The gnocchi and pasta were both amazing, great flavors! I would only knock down half a star for our server, he was a little dismissive & didn't make eye contact with me which was odd. I would 100% visit again.

6 of us walked in around 845pm hoping to eat and we learned that they kitchen closes at 9. The hostess said if we could order in the next 10 minutes, they would seat us so we got to work! We were seated by the bar immediately. The bartender took a little while to come take our orders so we were a little nervous that we wouldn't be able to order our meals. Eventually, the hostess came to take our orders and we ordered two orders of the bread plate and one order of the ricotta plate for the table. Then three of us ordered the penne pasta and two of us ordered the chicken and our last friend just got a drink. She like the drink, strong but tasty. Each of us enjoyed the pasta and chicken but the white meat on the chicken was a bit dry. The penne pasta was good but a little too saucy for my liking. Although the sauce was tasty, the ratio was off for me. I would go to this restaurant again to try the whole fish, which they were out of the evening we went.

Upscale tapas-style restaurant with a modern flare! I came by with a mentor from work and we had dinner here. I must start out with the fact that their cocktails are absolutely divine. I had the La Lavandre, with was lavender infused vodka, and it was so refreshing! Highly recommend. For our dinner plates, we had the burrata salad, wild mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, and pork chop. The burrata salad was my favorite by far, the tomatoes were sweet and the burrata was very fresh. The wild mushrooms were good too but I found the sauce too sour sometimes. The potatoes were very good but they could have been a bit more smashed. The pork chop was also good but it was a bit too tough to eat and thick, it was hard to cut it. For dessert we had the cheesecake and that was 10/10! So overall, we enjoyed our dinner but some plates could have been better.

We asked the waitress to bring us the best food for our table and she did. It was fantastic. Great cocktails as well.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was top notch as was our server, Rachel.
The gnocchi was the standout as well as the cauliflower and the Norwegian salmon. The whole crispy fish is just ok. Be aware, they will shuttle you in & out of there within 90 minutes. This is not a "relaxed" dining experience.

Cyndy's Bottom Line: A 2018 & 2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand award winning restaurant. *Reservations on Resy*Street parking or parking lotWe have dined at Chloe three or four times times and each time the experience was exceptional. A long overdue update. We first dined at Chloe when it first opened and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Then we participated in the James Beard, Taste of America D.C. event in June of 2021. A spectacular dining event to support independent restaurants to survive amidst the Covid-19 crisis. From start to finish everything was so delicious and excellently prepared in addition to the wine pairings and whiskey flights.Just recently we had brunch and I was so amazed with the level of execution for the brunch offerings. This is what's we ate/drank:*Spicy Bloody Mary - love the spiciness!*Warm scallion biscuit - DIVINE! Best biscuit in DC! I couldn't believe my taste buds. The biscuit is literally served warm and sprinkled with a touch of fresh chives. The top is golden brown, the sides are brown too and buttery crumbly. The inside is moist and buttery.CynTip: ask for a pot of honey and pour it on tothe plate for dipping. Yummy!*Fresh Ricotta -grilled house made bread, really raw honey, rosemary and oil olive.-Creamy, fresh and milky ricotta. *Kale, Green Apple & Fennel Salad - with labne, zaatar, pomegranate, lemon vinaigrette.-Fresh, delicious, a good balance of all the ingredients. The labne is fresh with a light creaminess and a sprinkle of zaatar seasoning.*Crispy Lemongrass Chicken -jalapeño cilantro emulsion, jasmine rice, peanuts and coleslaw-This dish is so creative and well composed. The jalapeño cilantro emulsion is so flavorful adding a touch of heat and herbaceousness. The jasmine rice a perfect fluffiness that absorbed the emulsion, so scrumptious to eat it together. The chicken moist and tender with a subtle lemongrass flavor not to over power. The coleslaw chopped or grated to a fine perfection. Dressed well and the flavor complimented the chicken.*Great friendly, attentive and accommodating service. Mahalo, appreciate it!

I've eaten at Chloe twice now and both times the food has been excellent and the service a bit slow/just okay. Highly recommend the veal hummus--by far the best dish on the menu. The gnocchi, fingerling potatoes, and cheesecake are also wonderful.
