Poor food, average service, very overpriced
After reading the reviews we were hoping for a top notch meal to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Upon arrival no acknowledgement was made of this request and we were seated on a dingy table behind a pillar. The service throughout was bland, the waiters were going through the motions and all fairly unfriendly. The food was unexpectedly bad. My daughter and I had the paneer sandwich which arrived as four small lumps with no adornment, or sauce to cut through the excessive spice. Both the chicken tikka main and king prawns were bland and excessively dry. At over £35 each I thought 3 prawns with barely any garnish or chutney was unreasonable. We ordered some raita to try and hep with the dryness. The desserts were again decidedly average with the chocolate wafer part of the dessert having a very unique unpleasant flavour. The bill at £425 with 2 non- drinkers was ridiculous! Go to gymkhana instead - 100% better in every way.

Excellent range of Indian food, wine and special cocktails. Service is very good and it made for a great night.

Nice venue, lots of candles. Service was good, food not brilliant but solid. Love Indian, this was average for what it was and the price involved

It is difficult to comment on the whole menu, extensive as it is, but everything we had was top-notch. Good service, although we bought very expensive wine so the waiters were around us like mosquitos to the flame. Good vibe... expensive dining but quite a few tourists so it must be in a guide for 'best Indian restaurants in London.'

If you want an elegant Indian dinner, this is the place to go. It is quite expensive, but worth it. Both the food and service are of excellent quality.

Expensive but top notch. The food is skillfully crafted. Flavours are amazing. The ambiance and decor are superb and the service is great. This is not your high street curry house.
Be the first to ReplySTILL BEAUTIFUL AFTER ALL THESE YEARS! The place to have Indian Food in London
I went for lunch at Chutney Marys, and the hostess who seated me looked right at me and smiled immediately. The manager was also quite attentive. I was then given the opportunity to select a good table and seated. The server, Mario, was highly detailed and treated every request as if it were "my order." I selected the lunch special, which featured a Lamb Kebab and a Prawn Curry. Let me start by saying that the kebab was absolutely mouthwatering, tender, and juicy. Dryness is not present. Perfect for a beginner. I took my time and ate mindfully. Then comes the prawn curry, which is a lightly to moderately creamed flavored masala dish, which was the ideal combination for the prawns. Your seafood should never be too makhni'd (creamy), and it was done that way.
Be the first to ReplyUtterly Brilliant !
Flawless service with outstanding food, wine and ambience / environment. We both opted for the tasting menus (vegetarian and standard) plus wine flight. The food presentation, quality and flavours were standout, absolutely brilliant. Wine pairings were spot on and the service shone. Having been fortunate enough to eat at London’s top Indian restaurants for a number of years, I would say that last night’s meal was the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten, anywhere. Fabulous effort by owners, management and a first class waiting team. Bravo!

I booked a table and had to confirm with a credit card. The day before, I emailed them to say that I needed to cancel as my wife was not well. They never actually acknowledged my cancellation request and went ahead and charged my card £60!! They have not responded to a single email asking them to explain their fraudulent actions. Be the first to ReplyFood exquisite, ambiance less so.
Can’t fault the delight of the food but the noise levels are not so. Bit like a theatre audience before the curtain goes up, just too loud and distracting hence my rating. Sorry.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Indian food
The food is simply superb although sadly they stopped making their awesome soufflé From the starters , which have some great examples of modified street food, to the deserts it’s all just faultless If you like great Indian food then give it a go. You won’t be disappointed
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite Indian restaurant in London
We have been to Chutney Mary and its sister restaurants several times and try to eat there each time that we're in central London. The food is great and as good as any that we have had in either London or India. The atmosphere is elegant, yet lively. And the bar is surprisingly good for an Indian restaurant.

My 12 year old daughter and I had dinner while on vacation. It was a wonderful experience; great service and great food. She loved the Pure Vida and had an amazing vegetarian dish. They were very accommodating with my dairy allergy and the food was fantastic. We will definitely come back next time we are in London!

Amazing delicious food full of flavor! The food portion is very good and price is reasonable. The food was hot and good spicy

Better than Tamarind for sure. I love the ambience, the tables are spaced hence you get little privacy. The waiting staff are amazing, they build rapport and give their suggestions only when asked and I like that. The good was good, portion sizes were decent and the dessert was probably the highlight of the meal.

This was my third time coming here, and each time I walk out amazed. The food is clever and incredibly tasty, the service is impeccable and the ambiance is perfect. Can't recommend it highly enough!

A truly outstanding Indian restaurant and in my view one of the top three in London. This restaurant stands the test of time. The staff are incredible in particular the new Manager Tyson George. A true example of leadership from the front.

A spectacular first time experience at this iconic restaurant.
In every sense, this was a five star dinner: food, drinks, ambiance and, mostly, service. Everyone was attentive and charming; we particularly enjoyed our main waiter’s advice and friendly banter. In Tyson George, Chutney Mary has a fine professional here.
We shall visit again, soon!
High class Indian restaurant
My daughter and I had dinner here after a day out in London. I couldn’t fault any aspect of the experience.
The food, service and ambiance were fabulous. It is a little expensive, especially for a small glass of wine, but I would happily eat there again and recommend.
Great ambiance
We had lunch at the restaurant to celebrate a friend ‘s 70 birthday. Location is excellent as not far from the tube station. Beautiful ambiance and excellent service. The food was very nicely presented and cooked perfectly. Well worth the cost . Staff were attentive and friendly. Some of the dishes were very unique and definitely different from any of the other similar places . Just loved this place and no doubt will be dining here again

The food was most delicate, not greasy and with superb flavours. Service by Tyson George was outstanding. He was most hospitable, knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs. Definitely he has the calibre of future manager. He performed very good sanitization in between courses.

What an evening. I was with my wife (who is not a fan of Indian food and who basically just wanted to please me ). The artichoke recommended by our waiter,,Tyson George, was exactly what we need as a starter together with an amazing Dal Mahkani. The KIs Gosh was also super tasty and mildly spicy (just enough but not too much). We’ll be back for sure
