Ciccio Mio is small, I HIGHLY recommend that you make a reservation. This spot is very cozy and the staff were fantastic. I had the spicy vodka rigatoni and it was so good, very flavorful and it was a spice level that I could handle (I'm a wimp when it comes to spice). The bread they give you before your meal is SO GOOD. I really enjoy that they have mocktails, I had a phony negroni and it tasted like the real thing. I really enjoyed the decor, the staff were all very attentive and the food was fantastic. It's also close to the metro, which was another added bonus.
Be the first to ReplyThe bread was absolutely incredible.
I would give the bread itself a 9.83/10. Only took that much of a point off because it did hurt the top of my mouth once or twice but so worth it honestly. Please get the bread!!! You won't regret it!!!

Ambiance: Super amazing, felt like a blast to the past with all the vintage/old paintings and photos on the wall. Dim light, very romantic, music playing softly in the background, real candles, and velvet seating. Service: Katie did a fantastic job with taking our orders. Very polite, accommodating, and reasonably attentive to our needs. They consistently kept our table clear of empty plates and gave us new silverware between courses. Food: Everything tasted great. Appetizer was Foccacia and it was a very good garlic cheesy bread that had this whipped ricotta cheese that we added a ton of to on each bite. Chicken parm had a generous amount of sauce, chicken tasted juicy and the breading had some crunch/crisp to it. The spicy rigatoni was not spicy at all, but the amount of flavorful deliciousness made up for it tremendously. Definitely the top entree of the table. Last, but certainly not least, the vesuvio potatoes. When I tell you that these are the best potato side my wife and I ever had in our lives, you better believe it. We asked for it extra crispy, and man, did they deliver! They added chicken flavoring to it, so each potato was oozing flavor. Even the potato skin alone tasted fantastic. It did get salty at the bottom, but that's to be expected because of all of the flavor. Cannoncini tasted awesome, reminding us both of a ferrero rocher and the hot fudge complimented it perfectly. The quality of the gelato is out of this world. We are thinking it was because it's soft served, and it looks like a tall amount, but we went through it quick! Then there's the Tiramisu, extremely delicious. Strong tiramisu flavor in a mousse texture/form. I had the need for more bites that I intended, for sure.
Be the first to ReplyEvery Hogsalt restaurant is good, but Cicco Mio is special.
You'll need to get a reservation in advance as there's very little room for walk-ins. Given the Italian theme, I recommend trying the pastas. The vodka rigatoni and truffle bucatini were fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to order again. We also split the antipasti board and were quite pleased. Honestly my favorite part was the Cosmo I had to drink. So often in Chicago I get overly syrupy cranberry cosmos, but this one was fresh and tasty. I'd go back for that alone! Their Cosmo on the menu has Campari so I ordered without.
Be the first to ReplyThis will always be my favorite Italian joint in Chicago.
Great service, the servers are amazing. the best chicken parmesan Ive had. Spicy Rigatoni a delicious go to. Drinks and dessert 10/10 The vibe is very comfortable yet elegant with the perfect amount of lighting and cozy red velvet couches.

Is good but not worth the effort of fighting to get a reservation. The food here was pretty good, but not as good as some of the other hogsalt restaurants (bavettes or gilt bar). All the pastas we got were pretty good. They were all well-made and were perfectly textured. From the pastas, my favorite was the vodka pasta. The flavor was really good. For the dessert we got the tiramisu and it was extremely mediocre. Not really much flavor or texture. I wish ciccio mio had the same desserts as bavettes or gilt bar. There's no point in going with an Italian themed dessert menu if you don't execute well. Was disappointed enough by the tiramisu that I grabbed a chocolate cream pie from gilt bar on the way home. The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty similar to the other hogsalt group places, so was dark and cozy. The service was great and attentive.

Ciccio Mio is, unfortunately, worth setting an alarm to remind you to get a resy for. This intimate spot with a charming, old school Italian aesthetic fully nails its execution on ambiance and service categories and I would give it a 4.5 out of 5 on food. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you will be well taken care of. Service was fantastic. My partner and I were able to sit side by side in a booth and take in the ambiance together. We arrived hungry and ready for drinks! I ordered 2 aperol spritzes (normally my summer drink but that's neither here nor there) and my partner ordered a lovely glass of red wine. We ordered the focaccia to start-HUGE. Did not anticipate receiving a loaf but it was really fantastic. We then ordered the spicy vodka rigatoni and it the paccheri alla Norma. Again, VERY large, generous portions. A positive. Quality was fantastic. We've had vodka pasta at home and other establishments but this was truly the best...the noodles were perfectly Al dente, HUGE, lots of sauce. The paccheri alla Norma was smoky, cheesy, and I loved the different pasta shape! I had never had this dish before and it was a pleasant surprise-I would've loved a bit more eggplant but after doing a small amount of research on the dish, it seems Ciccio served it in an authentic manner. Would love to see an eggplant parm option in the future, perhaps! We somehow managed to make room for dessert and we ordered the tiramisu. I did read reviews about it being booze-heavy but I thought I would feel differently for some reason, but alas, it was a bit too boozy for my taste (and I do like booze!) It was a generous portion and beautifully presented but had a bit too strong of an alcoholic taste for me to want to order it again. This was the only 'skip next time' item for me. We never felt rushed, service was wonderful....a nearly perfect experience in my eyes!

But I had to bring this up. The ambiance was beautiful, waitress was lovely, food and drink was delish , BUT when got home to reheat my leftover vodka pasta, I reheated it right out of the container they packaged it in, first bite I bit down on something very rock hard!! Nearly chipped my tooth it hurt so bad. I take it out of my mouth and it's litterally a small stone/ pebble of some kind. Definitely not food matter. I was so disappointed because this place was perfect in every other way. I'm not sure if it was from the spices, the kitchen, the, sauce but my goodness I am disappointed. I thought about calling and asking for my money back but it's not worth the hassle. Ciccio, if you're reading this- please make sure you're looking into quality in the kitchen!! Was a very expensive dish as well- about 40 after my added protein

A nice Italian restaurant. Can't wait to come back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat options.
Food and drinks are amazing. All the servers and staff are attentive, nice, personable. The ambiance is out of this world. Unlike any other restaurant & it shows with how fast reservations are booked up!

As most everyone knows, it's nearly impossible to get a reservation here. We decided to take our chances and walk in on a Saturday evening. Walk ins are available to sit in the "lounge" area which is basically four small stools near a window and a couch and two arm chairs with a coffee table. We arrived around 6:15, put our name in, and went next door to Gilt Bar to have some drinks while waiting on our table. Our table was ready after about an hour and 20 min, and the host was kind enough to hold our spot while we finished our last drink. Even the lounge area was very cozy and ambience was great. Don't let the "lounge" part fool you, that area is still FULL service. We each had a glass of Chianti. The complimentary bread was perfectly crunchy on the outside with a crisp crust. We ordered the Caesar salad, vodka rigatoni, and chicken parm which was plenty for the two of us to share. EVERYTHING was so delicious. We finished with the bread pudding which was a HUGE portion and absolutely fantastic. The service was impeccable start to finish. Would for sure come back, and wouldn't mind at all dining in the lounge area again.

Ciccio Mio was one of the BEST dining experiences I've had in Chicago! For three people, we ordered one appetizer, two pastas, one main, and a side. The service was fantastic with complimentary bread and soppresata. I would go back in a heart beat!
Be the first to ReplyAmbience and service 10/10.
The spicy vodka rigatoni and paccheri alla norma were average at best, could be served at Olive Garden. The vesuvio potatoes were coated with thick layers of butter and again average at best. Super cute place but I don't understand the hype.

Everything about this place was just amazing but it was the ambiance of this restaurant that was my favorite part! Service was great and so was everything we ordered. Next time I'm in Chicago I will be back for sure!

I waited forever to get a reservation at Ciccio Mio, and it was well with it. First, the space was absolutely beautiful. Dimly light, intimate and had beautiful pieces of art and decorative pieces everywhere you looked. I felt like I was transported to a supper club in the 1940s, which I loved. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive, and we did not feel rushed at all as often happens in very popular restaurants. The food was very impressive and tasty, and the portions were enormous. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had and could have easily fed 4 people. The burrata was fresh and had the perfect texture. I had the pasta with eggplant, and it was so flavorful and had the perfect amount of spice. My husband loved his chicken Parmesan and even commented that it was the hugest piece of chicken he'd ever seen at an Italian restaurant. We somehow found room for the pannetone bread pudding, and wow! I would have licked the plate if we weren't in public. Cocktails were solid. Overall amazing experience with fantastic food and service, very intimate and not at all stuffy or pretentious.

The charm, the food, the service, this place hit the mark! The only disappointment is that I didn't take more photos! We started with the meatballs, burrata and mozzarella sticks which were all phenomenal. For the main course I had the spicy vodka rigatoni and prawns to share with the table, everything the rest of the party ordered was equally as good. This place is a must if you're ever in the area!

Incredible experience! Food was great and service wasn't rushed, we really enjoyed our time here. Very small and intimate and can't wait to go back and try more from the menu.

Ciccio was great! The ambiance is very romantic and interesting. The lights are dim and my party and I had sofa seating. The service was prompt with no flaws. I tried the spicy vodka rigatoni and the lasagna bolognese rotolo. Both dishes were very good! I have no complaints. However, I will say that another restaurant in the city has a vodka rigatoni that I enjoy more (and it's cheaper). The bread and giardiniera were awesome.

Chicago favorite!! The speakeasy vibes always get me, you enter the library lounge while you wait to be seated. Once your table is ready you are taken through a closed door to the dimly lit and intimate dinner room. Booth seating with beautiful design, chandeliers and floral wall paper. Food and service was impeccable, the whole evening was wonderful. Great spot that is relatively new and not as well know to those visiting the city. Will be returning soon!
Be the first to ReplyThe interior was very warm and welcoming.
We enjoyed the layout. We were welcomed by the host in a warm manner. The waiter was polite and served our needs well. Most importantly the food was amazing. I really enjoyed the chicken parm and rotini with vodka sauce. The whole experience was something I will always remember for years to come.

Now, I see the reviews about service however! My experience was the complete opposite. My friend and I took a sporadic trip to Chicago and found this place in our search for pasta. The host greeted us and then notified us that they were totally booked for reservations however, they did have a small sitting area in the main lobby/ kind of like bar seating but not at an actual bar. It worked for us! We sat down the waiter was charming, and sweet! Informed us of the menu, I wanted a Paper Plane Cocktail and finally found a place in Chicago that knew how to make one! I am a burrata girl and this was almost perfect! No overly salted the texture and flavor combined with the olive oil! To die for! I would go there for the bread and burrata alone. Cocktail amazing 10/10. I decide to try something new I did the bucatini pasta with spicy pork! However, the gnocchi PILLOW SOFT! I was mildly jealous about my food choice, the bucatini was great too, the gnocchi stole the show. As a girl who loves good food! This place is a 10/10!

Sunday evening Italian dinner a perfect ending to our Chicago trip. Mushroom Carbonara was actually a sleeper pick and was the best dish we had. The Rigatoni and Gnocchi were enjoyable as well. You can't go wrong here. We ate at their sister spot Gilt Bar earlier in the trip and had the Orecchiette and Pork Loin Saltimboca. They were hits as well. These guys get it, excellent hospitality group. I would try and sit inside but enjoy the quiet city vista outside as well.
