Shout Cackle and Serve
Was let down by this experience - the whole lunch experience was a little off. 5 waiting staff were cackling and talking so loud within a metre from our table. Felt it was a little sloppy.
Be the first to ReplyStrange and Disappointing
Had such high expectations given the Cipriani name and this experience was just a letdown. The ambiance was very uncomfortable— lights on full brightness for Saturday night dinner, no music. There was a giant TJ Maxx price sticker on the front of the candle in the bathroom (which obviously isn’t a big deal, heck I love TJ Maxx, but it was funny given how they market themselves.) The service was ok- nobody was rude but we had to ask for things like bread plates and silverware, we waited 20 minutes before having to flag someone down to order, etc. We were celebrating an anniversary (noted on our reservation) and it was never acknowledged, which is not necessary of course but not what I expected. The food was fine but not outstanding and not in line with the high price point. In a city with so many amazing Italian restaurants, I would strongly recommend you choose elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyUnworthy Of the Name Cipriani
There is NOTHING outstanding about this restaurant. it should be ashamed to call itself Cipriani. The food is inedible. The tables are LITERALLY glued to each other. The service is akin to an automated assembly line. They cannot even make a simple martini properly. The wine glasses are a total joke. All that cost me US $300 plus tip. It was our 31 st anniversary dinner. My wife was in tears. We would have eaten better and had more fun in a regular local italien kitchen. What a disappointment. I was robbed of $300+. It does not deserve the one star that i had to give.

Horrible fake italian food, served by horrible fake italians, that know nothing of the culture. Avoid at all costs and go elswhere.
Be the first to ReplyNot All That Special
The staff were cordial and professional, but seemed stretched too thin, given the premium price. The food was competent for high-end Italian, but nothing special or creative. Old school menu, old school restaurant. In my perspective, the potential celebrity spotting was not worth the price. My complaint about the bitter broccolini was explained away as it's from Italy and always that way, followed by an offer to replace with spinach or similar cooked veggies. I should have had another salad, but didn't think of it. Actually my salad was the highlight of the meal.
Be the first to ReplyI had a lot of expectation!
I had a lot of expectations because It is really difficult to get a reservation here, but the food is really mediocre. The Italian cuisine really basic. No high-quality ingredients. Really dissapointed!
Be the first to ReplyV Average. Carbone is much much better in every aspect.
Pretty average sad to say. Food was okay, dessert (vanilla meringue) excellent. The thing that really let it down was the staff. There must have been a waiter to every two tables. Staff chatting / arguing battling on….It looked like the manager was herding kittens trying to get the most basic tasks done. Some elements of service we had at least three people asking what we wanted. Then they would forget and we had to ask someone else. Nothing was on time nor served with elegance. Just felt like they wanted to get that table turned and get the next people in.

Huge and expansive waste of time… Not what it used to be anymore. The service is a punishment. You have to miss it..
Be the first to ReplyExcellent as usual
Everything here is top notch, the service, the quality of the food, the atmosphere...but this is not the place if you like privacy, big tables and slow service. Food is amazing, of course prices are a little high but they are totally fair. Every time I visit Manhattan, this is my place to go.
Be the first to ReplyNice place but average experience
We have been to several Cipriani's. NY Downtown is certainly not the best one..
First of all the place was completely packed, bar, tables, everybody on top of each other. No social distancing. Manager trying to shake hands with a lot of people. looks like Covid does not exist here. Our table was not ready and we had to wait 20 minutes at the packed bar. Then we got a nice table for five. We shared starters and they were good. Typically Cipriani food, nice and fresh. Unfortunately the mains did not have the same quality. My Veal liver was overcooked and my wife's chicken as well. The Cipriani cake was great as always. So..a mixed bad. And an expensive bag, 1000 dollars for this experience is a lot of money. Service was ok, friendly but not very professional.
High quality restaurant ....
I visited with my wife last week at this restaurant and we really enjoyed the location, design, quiet and most of all the excellent quality of food and the excellent scratching of the wait staff. Not a cheap restaurant but worth it depending on the variety of food. For a first course we took carpaccio which was one of the tastiest we have eaten so far as well we took mascarpone soup and a main course of real pompadour spaghetti as spaghetti really should be. A must-see restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyA very sad birthday dinner
Came here to celebrate my birthday along with a friend and was really let down by the unprofessional attitude everyone had at the restaurant. The security/ bouncer outside was rude, did not acknowledge us as guests and spoke rudely, our reservation was misplaced and didn’t have a table reserved for us.
When we were seated, we were just thrown in the back of the restaurant. There was no server attending to us, the salmon served was a let down and the Bellini wasn’t made well, not really worth the hype, wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone. Goto Wall Street Cipriani if you want better service . The service staff was not welcoming at all. Terrible way to have a birthday dinner .
Good vibe good food
We arrived on time, took a while until our table was ready. During out waiting time the manager kept us busy with complementary drinks and friendly discussion so we didn’t feel the waiting time. The place was packed, busy and full of positive energy. We were 3 pax, the food is consistent with the other branches even on other countries. We ordered the cucumber salad, the bresaola, the tomato salad, it was a perfect combination. As for the main the 3 of us shared the pasta bolognese and the veal with lemon sauce. We really enjoyed the food, drinks, amazing atmosphere and friendly staff and manager. You need prior booking and to be positive to enjoy the place.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Disappointed in this restaurant. I had high expectations but they were not met. It started when they got our appetizer order wrong. The tenderloin that I ordered was far from being tender. Would not go back or recommend.

Always my favourite restaurant in NYC.
I’m italian, and I’m an habitué during the weekend for my Saturday / Sunday lunch. I love their pasta. Service is perfect. Elegante.
Horrible
Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. We made a reservation for 10PM and had to wait 50 minutes till they got us a table! For a woman who is probably wearing high heels to a nice restaurant it’s a torture. The crowd is unfiltered, people could be wearing beach clothes. Also no one is social distancing and they were barely guests who wore masks when they were moving between the tables. I ordered a shrimp carpaccio, they brought me a meat carpaccio. In the end the check said “Branzino carpaccio”. And the only reason I ordered it was because they apparently ran out of hurrays. Then some random guy just took our extra chair where my purse was laying and dropped it. Then I ordered a branzino, it was average. My partner’s lamb chops were overcooked. Our vegetables weren’t even heated. Some people were turning on music on their phones, talking too loud. Too drunk also. Then one of the staff asked if we wanted desert and gave us a minute to think. Then we asked another waiter for ice cream to which he rudely responded “the kitchen is closed, no ice cream, finished”. Then they overcharged us with the Bellini making it 3 glasses when we ordered one. When we asked the waiter LITERALLY 6 times to take the card with the check he ignored us. Horrible experience just horrible. If you are willing to spend $300 on cold food and no customer service at all - that’s your place. It’s a ripoff paying just for the name. Really, this place needs some really really good organization as it is the most disorganized $$$$ restaurants I have ever been in my life. Nothing near would have happened at Marea, Joel-Robuchon, etc. Very very disappointed. I rated it “terrible” and trust it is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E.
