HORRIBLE PEOPLE OPERATING THIS BUSINESS!
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT. They cancelled a Valentine's Day reservation made on Open Table 48 hours before the reservation because they "claimed" their confirmation text messages were not replied to. No attempt was made to call me to confirm, nor were text messages ever received. Furthermore, when I called to inquire as to why the reservation was cancelled, they offered a new reservation, but only for a prix fixe menu, and I would need to reserve with a credit card. Then, the person hung up on me when pressed for an explanation as to why I was not contacted by phone. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXTREMELY ARROGANT!

Really deserves a 3.5 We went based on reviews here and mentioned in Foursquare as on of he 15 best tasting menus in NYC, at #15. Hipster interior, not at all stuffy. Music a mindless playlist of current radio hits. One other couple there all evening. Your only decision is whether you want the $49 wine pairing to go with your $149 eight course meal and the correct answer is yes. I understand why places like this may not be able to offer any choices in the lineup for operational reasons. The problem with that is, they have to play it safe and down the middle in that case, which limits the creativity that might otherwise be there. Whereas we want to be surprised. If you get what we did, you will find the hamachi crudo in a nice presentation, some cold lobster, cold crab, rare tuna, asparagus with truffle, a little steak, etc.All good, nothing memorable. Generous with the wine pours.

Every bite is a winner. Chef Vincent's food is beautifully plated and even more delicious. This is one of my favorite places to eat in NYC, or possibly anywhere!

Every course was absolutely wonderful, especially the tuna with browned butter and the perfectly done scallops. Impeccable service and wine pairings were perfect!
Be the first to ReplyWell made prix fixe tasting menu
I was taken here for my birthday and couldn't have been happier. The outdoor seating was comfy and spaced out on a quiet Village street. (We went in early September so I can't say what they do for colder weather.) The prix fixe menu came with matched wine tastings for each course, which usually is prohibitively expensive but not here. Each dish was so beautifully prepared with great attention to detail. They do some of the modern foams and similar techniques, but also more traditional presentations. It was nicely done but not fussy. I don't eat meat so they modified the meat item to accommodate me (I do eat seafood). And the wine choices were smart, and they weren't shy about keeping our glasses full. We sent friends later in the month and they also loved it, so these people know what they're doing.

One of the best meals Iโve ever had and the service is ridiculously friendly. For example, there was a delay with our table so Chef Chirico came and hung out with us while we waited. And they accommodated my vegetarian wife with a custom tasting menu.

If you want to spend an evening with haute cuisine food with a good wine pairing, Coarse is an excellent choice. Give yourself about 2 hours and be prepared to relax and enjoy. You donโt choose your courses, but if youโre willing to trust the kitchen and chef, youโll have an enjoyable and memorable evening.

As a family of cooks and Napa Valley winemakers we were looking forward to dinner at Coarse. Chef has excellent pedigree, and the restaurantโs concept intriguing.
Very nice, funky vibe and lots of energy. Good start.
The six course tasting menu is paired with wines. There is an option to upgrade to โbetterโ wine pairings, but when I asked the difference I got an unintelligible answer. If the server did not know he could have told me so or ask another staff member.
The wines were poured generously, but they were of mediocre quality.
The โrawโ/minimally-cooked dishes were hit and miss, but nothing inspiring or outstanding.
By the third course some of the family was getting antsy to give up, but we persevered through course five and departed before the final course and dessert.
The concept just did not work for us.
Another example of over promising and under delivering. Live and learn.
Instant classique
Coarse is an instant classic for all foodies. Raw or mildly cook dishes are served at this Tasting Menu only venue. Chef Vincent is present and serves tables which makes you feel at home. Wine is paired and included in the price. We had the $99 tasting menu which was outstanding, All around. Highly recommend this spectacular restaurant. Salute to Chef Vincent!
Delicious, unique and welcoming.
The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff incredibly kind and the food is creative, unique and delicious. I highly recommend the full tasting menu with wine pairing.
Note that the photos of the food donโt do it justice.
Hidden Gem
This may be one of the best dinner bargains in NYC. The menu, which chef changes on a daily basis based on the best available ingredients, is well thought out and executed to perfection. At $99.00 for the standard tasting menu, you are enjoying 7-8 courses with paired wines. While I found the wines uninspiring, the food was spectacular. I would return in a heartbeat. If the wines were slightly better, I would have paid $250.00 per guest and still have felt it to be a bargain. Chef was personable, interactive and knowledgeable. He and his staff bring their culinary โA gameโ.
