Once Upon a time ...
The place was once an oasis as a pastry shop and for tasty little snacks. Service was unfriendly, no menu at the table, strict reprimands for picking up food at the counter. Why didn't I want to sit in the sun? No, I had my reasons. Ham roll garnished fresh from the cold, the daily pastry rock hard, supposedly freshly baked, you could have beaten someone to death. Lemon soda with syrup and half a slice. There must be a reason why the place is almost empty at lunchtime, the parliamentarians who used to be so numerous have probably moved on.

We checked into this cafe for a lunch and tea. We had some local food which included a stew composed of various parts of an animal, quite an interesting and traditional experience. We concluded with a nice Strudel and tea. Would recommend it, was very calm and had a cozy classic and fresh interior.

Horrible experience! The waiters are unfriendly and mean, my friend received hot water on her jacket due to the waiter's fault, luckily she didn't get burned, at first I felt sorry for the waiter, I was worried who wasn't or not burn your hand when you ask for a towel to dry yourself with, he told us it's just water! We waited 20 minutes to be served, we asked for whipped cream, he told us that there are only normal cafes 10 minutes later the ones next door had whipped cream! In short, a catastrophic welcome!! The Parisian waiters next door are angels!!

Expensive and uncommitted staff. The lady behind the counter who fixed coffee definitely needs a charm course. Wow, how she clattered with glasses and coffee cups.

Rude, rude, coffee with holes, mediocre cake, each waiter does their own thing, I endorse other comments
Be the first to Replycardinal perfect
While looking for a patisserie to drink a good Viennese coffee and try delicious desserts, we came across it by chance and decided to go in. The interior is really elegant, stylish and historical. We tried melange and einspanner coffees. We loved the einspanner, which was soft, delicious and served with perfect cream that smelled of milk. Among the desserts, we tried sachertorte and cardinal. We liked both of them in terms of taste, but cardinal is definitely a unique dessert that should be tasted when you come to Vienna. Cardinal is a dessert that I would like to eat again at Sluka or somewhere else if I come to Vienna again.

Very nice place, typical Wien cafe, all was in place, very correct - just as expected. Very good coffee, nice cakes - just like it should be.
Be the first to ReplyVery unpleasant situation
I went a couple of months ago. The service was generally good and the place was pleasant, but when it came time to pay the waiter who served me asked me if I wanted to leave a tip, I answered no, since as far as I know it is not mandatory, because the waiter began to raise his tone. , shouting around him so that everyone could hear, saying why he didn't want to leave a tip, if anything the service had not been good, he was hallucinating, and I answered him very kindly that yes, the service had been normal, but after Paying more than 20 euros (for 2 coffees and 2 pieces of cake) I didn't think I had to tip, while I was paying the waiter kept shouting looking at the other customers, there was a line of people right next to us waiting for a seat. Never in my life have I experienced such an unpleasant situation.
Be the first to ReplyWaiters and service charge!
Recommend by our tour guide, we had two coffees, peppermint tea, strudel and doughnuts, all very nice. However when presented with the bill - total 30 euros, my husband offered a 50 euro note, expecting change. The waiter then said no change- service charge. We would have given a tip, but to expect 20 euros on a 30 euro bill is a bit steep in my opinion.

Nice inside - service fine, the waiter is a hoot! Cappuccino very average as too hot and head not smooth. Cakes average but maybe we chose poorly?
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Very good cakes and coffee - really delicious and nice looking! But the service is terrible and very unfriendly. The staff is covering their incompetence with full occupancy of the place but actually they are simply not attentive to the customers, their needs and their wishes. The staff thinks that their working comfort is more important then the comfort of the client. Very disappointing as the space is located in the very heart of Vienna
Be the first to ReplyA Lovely Visit.
We were taking part in a week long cruise along the Danube, and had a guided tour through Vienna. Before returning to the ship, we had a short period of free time in that lovely city. Having heard about the famous coffee houses, we went to the Sluka Coffee House. It proved to be a great choice, as we entered the magnificent & striking building we were warmly greeted, and shown to a delightful seat. I asked the friendly waiter for pastry recommendations and, following his advice, we weren't disappointed. The food & drinks were superb, along with the service and the comfortable, classy decor. All too soon we had to leave, due to timescales, but it would have been a pleasure to stay much longer. We intend returning to Vienna, and another visit to the Sluka Coffee House is a certainty!
