We went here on Friday night because it was the only place with reservations available last minute. That should have been a clue. The food was very expensive and had zero seasoning on anything we ordered. I would give an extra star for the service if only the food was worth a single star. I can't believe a high end restaurant would send out such awfulness plate after plate.

Convivial has always been Ok, but our last dining experience there on 17 March 2023 was profoundly disappointing. The meal started ok with a fine steak tartare and well made martinis, but the entrees were a complete disaster. My partner and friend were served basically dry mussels of a suspicious quality and a filet of Branzino that had been horribly mutilated and unseasoned. The mussels in particular were extremely bad, containing little to no broth and were rubbery and fishy. I got the steak bavette (basically a steak frite, or attempt at one anyway) which was similarity disappointing. The steak ordered as medium rare came out fully raw, chewy (like gum), and completely devoid of any seasoning or flavor. The fries were at least good.

The lackluster food had no flavor or flare, which made the price feel like a scam. The escargot was chewy, the mussels dry, and the branzino tasted like it was sourced from the grocery store frozen aisle, with the two fillets stacked like it was being staged as a whole fish. I tried a bite of steak and can only comment that the texture was weird. The only things we finished (and liked) were our cocktails and the fries. Our server was very nice and took one of the dishes off our bill.

The branzino taste like it was boiled with zero seasoning of any kind (not even salt or pepper). The mussels were so dry that it was chewy with zero seasoning as well. The pot came with a 1/4 inch of "broth" in the bottom and when we asked for more they brought out unflavored cream. The service and drinks were really great. That is the only reason I would give them two stars.

We got the quiche lorraine and the omelette. I was really impressed with the quiche - it was really fluffy and melted in my mouth, and complimented the crispy crust perfectly. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other dishes.

Excellent all around! My husband and I went for breakfast this weekend and the service, food and atmosphere were all exceptional. We had the crepe and French toast and both were to die for! Our sever was very professional, friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!

What a delightful restaurant! From the moment I walked in the experience was great - friendly host, accommodated my request to sit in a quieter section, let me squeeze in an order for happy hour with only 2 min left! My friend and I shared the quiche bites, foie gras, burrata, and a bottle of bubbly. She loved her bouillabaisse and I totally enjoyed my loup de mar branzino. Although we were stuffed we managed ;) to devour the floating islands dessert - amazing! The best part was our server - so friendly and attentive. Kept saying he wanted to earn our repeat visit - he definitely did! Can't wait to come back!

Truly some of the best food I've had on a date night! My partner and I went to celebrate Valentine's day, and the experience was excellent. Highly recommended if you're feeling French and are looking for high-quality food and well-sized portions.Drinks: We started with the Napoleon's Gain drink. I got mine with vodka (it normally comes with Gin) and it was similar to a Moscow Mule. My partner also got the Château des Antonins Cabernet Sauvignon with the main course.Food: The Foie Gras & Duck Liver Mousse was extremely tasty! For anyone who hasn't had it (I hadn't before), I'd recommend trying if you're feeling adventurous. My main course was the Loup de Mer (branzino) and it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. My partner got the Cassoulet with duck, and it was great as well.Dessert: We got the Le Grand Rocher Jivara, which was essentially an oversized Ferrero Rocher. It was AMAZING, highly recommend. I got the recommended pairing (Graham's 20 Year Tawny Port)-- if you're feeling bougie I would go for it.

We had Valentine's Day dinner here and it was a truly bizarre experience. First, we arrived on time for our 8:30 reservation and told we could wait at the bar until our table was ready. We took 2 barstools and proceeded to be ignored for 5+ minutes, it almost felt like the bartender was actively avoiding eye contact. This would not have been an issue but there were maybe 8 people total at the bar with most already drinking and chatting. The hostess ended up coming over and telling us our table was ready before the bartender ever acknowledged our presence. Once we were seated, we didn't hear from our waiter for another 7-10 min. When he did come over, it was to finally get our drink order and tell us that we needed to order all courses at once. We probably put our meal order in around 8:45-8:50 for everything. At that point we were served our drinks and left alone. 20+ minutes later, our water came by to say there was an issue with the ticketing system and our food was on its way. Around 9:15, I had to ask for bread since we still didn't have food. We finally got our appetizer course seconds before the bread came, around 9:20ish. Our entrees came out promptly after that course. We ended up ordering the baked Alaska for dessert (it's close to 10 if not later at this point). Before the dessert even arrived, our check was dropped off. I don't blame them for doing this since the restaurant technically closed at 9pm, but it was the restaurants fault our dinner was dragging on this long because of the first delay. The dessert arrived immediately after we ordered, while my partner was in the bathroom, and the waiter lit it on fire while only I was sitting there. I was taken off guard otherwise would have asked for him to wait. Half the reason you order the baked Alaska is for the fire so was disappointed only 1 of us got to enjoy. It became very clear we were our servers last table when we could hear him loudly talking about his tips and lingering watching our bill. I didn't put a card down until we had had some dessert, but it was immediately picked up and returned. His service was abysmal and it was obvious we were overstaying our welcome (despite 4+ tables still seated and casually enjoying their meal). It's very unclear to me how this was even ranked in the Washingtonians 100 best, let alone #20. We LOVED our food but at what cost... we got a great story out of it but highly recommend you seek out other places in the city for this price. If you do choose to go to convivial, do not go on a day that might be busy (Friday-Sunday + holidays) because they are not equipped to handle a rush.

The food and service were good. But, like a couple of other reviews, we were confused as to why the restaurant was so empty. It is because there are 2 rooms. The front room is bustling and has great energy, and the back room is very quiet with many empty tables. We couldn't figure out why were seated in the back when we were there early. Definitely request the main room on the front vs the one by the outdoor tables in the back.

The meal was fantastic. The service was amazing. However the hostess was incredibly rude. She refused to seat us at a window, claiming that the restaurant was fully booked, and wanting to seat in a corner next to a wall. I counted 30 tables in the restaurant. When we arrived, one was occupied. When we left, less than half were occupied. The waiter, who was incredibly gracious, moved us to the window. When we left, the hostess doubled down and argued that we don’t know how restaurants work, and should not have had that table.

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
