COTE Korean Steakhouse New York Reviews from The Last Year
I was not sure what they were going with the name COTE but
I was not sure what they were going with the name COTE but when you see the designs in the restaurant, it seems they are going for "flower" in Korean. This was not obvious because I think most Koreans would spell that "kkot" but that would probably be too confusing for most non-Koreans. That was not the only thing that was a little off for me. The overall experience was a little off. Maybe this is what happens when Korean restaurants try for Michelin stars. They have to modify the concept as was the case with that other Michelin star Korean place we recently visited, Jungsik. To be fair, COTE is a little closer to a traditional Korean BBQ shop. The tabletop grill, marinated (mostly) meats, banchan. However, the flavors, while good, were missing in some key aspects. The meats that were supposed to be marinated did not have the deep sweet/salty flavors I love in Korean BBQ. And for some meats, the server only seasoned with coarse salt, including the wagyu we added to the Butcher's Feast. I appreciated that with the wagyu because it lets you really appreciate the rich fatty wagyu flavor, but for other cuts, the flavor was a little boring. Now I know this is a "steakhouse" but it is a Korean steakhouse. Give me some more flavor! At least with most steakhouses, you get the dry aging and the butter. However, I have to admit the meat quality was still great. The steak tartare highlighted that. The Korean bacon was also pretty good. Overall, I was happy with the food but not blown away. I have to say something about the service because that is one thing that really surprised me. At some Michelin star places, the service is overbearing suffocating. COTE, on the other hand, is a little lacking. A couple of us made a little mess on the table, and it was never cleaned up. They were still there when we left. The ambience is very different from a lot of star rated places. Music is pretty loud and conversation was a little hard to hear. Maybe this is a new direction for the Michelin folks to be a little more casual, so may need to get used to it. We have a reservation at Atomix later this year. Cannot wait to see how they stack up!
My group went with the butcher's feast which came with 4
My group went with the butcher's feast which came with 4 cuts of meat: hangar steak, ribeye, american wagyu, and galbi. In addition, there was banchan which were delicious and slightly different from typical Korean restaurants. Service was exceptional and I have to say the wagyu was delicious and melted in my mouth. Highly recommend for a group for up to 5 and the portions are more than enough to leave you full afterwards.
This was my second time trying Cote.
The second time was just as good as the first. One of the best Korean steakhouses in NYC. The food is on another level. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating to our needs. We got the butchers feast and it was plenty of food for one person. Definitely recommend that and the steak tartar.
So good!! The butchers feast is an absolute must.
So much variety and the service is amazing. Highly recommend.
I've never seen a steak omakasi on the menu before and came
I've never seen a steak omakasi on the menu before and came here specifically to try it out, because my meat loving curiosity got the best of me. A quick note about reservations, they do not really take reservations for parties of two, except at the very beginning and end of service... Which doesn't leave too many spots each night. We got lucky with a last minute cancellation a week before, so I can only assume that they are booked out, far in advance. We arrived a few minutes early for the reservation, but was able to have a drink at the bar. There is a speakeasy type bar underneath the restaurant called Undercote, But unfortunately it was reserved for a private party on the day that we went. Definitely would be cool to check it out on another night though. The service was excellent And the drinks were fantastic. Once seated, the service was impeccable. And every single dish that they brought out was amazing. I know the steak omakasi price is a little hefty, but for a one-time experience for me, it was well worth it. It started out with a course of oyster and uni, and then caviar, which was an unexpected surprise. Them, We had six different cuts brought out immediately on the table, ranging from a filet mignon (our favorite), And two different kinds of wagyu, which were so rich and Delicious. There were also additional meats at the end brought out, and several side dishes too. All of it was amazing! And if I'm feeling indulgent, I would say a do again! The only downside I would say, is if you go with the wine pairing, just know that they are very portioned with their pores, and so you will need to self-regulate with your courses. Most places I've been to before that offer wine pairings, usually are not shy from topping off and giving a little extra to get you through additional courses, but this one they expected a 2 oz-ish pour to get you through at least two or three different kinds of meats. The wines themselves were good, but overall I wouldn't say it was worth it for the price. If you're able to snag a reservation, I would say definitely check it out!
Really enjoyed dinner in the outside cabana(?) the other
Really enjoyed dinner in the outside cabana(?) the other night. We ordered tuna tartare to start which was really good and a nice portion for five people to share; then we moved on to the butcher's feast - 4 (or was it 5?) different cuts of beef - with each person receiving 4 pieces of each type - all yummy but my two favorites were the rib eye and the galbi - with tasty sides like kimchi radish (though we asked for more and are still waiting), the fluffiest souffled egg and many delicious pickled things (especially loved the pickled cauliflower)- I didn't really care for the kimchi perilla leaf. Finished off with their lovely soft serve with a caramel drizzle. Perhaps not my favorite Korean bbq in nyc, but still very good. Eating in the cabana was a nice private experience- one could look longingly at the giant front window and almost feel like you were part of the restaurant. Only minor complaints were a very driven fly that would not leave our raw meat alone which really focused attention on the lack of attention that we received for a time - was it that the grill needed time to heat up or was it out of sight out of mind? anyway, a minor blip in an otherwise good experience
More than lived up to the hype! We had a Friday night
More than lived up to the hype! We had a Friday night reservation for four @ 6:30pm indoors (which we got day of through Resy notify), but when two people in the group weren't able to make it anymore they still sat us (even though technically parties of two are only supposed to be allowed at the first or last seating of the night), which was much appreciated after waiting so long to finally try & being so excited to finally have a table booked! The Butcher's Feast was superb! Each cut felt like it had a purpose. Whenever I've had things like this in the past, I've always ended up liking one cut the best and wishing I had just a lot of that one type rather than a little bit of the many different types, but each truly was delicious! It wasn't the absolute best steak of my life but it was really good; I'm sure if I opted to supplement with A5 or any of the super premium options it would've been mind blowing / life changing. It also was a ton of food with all the banchan, stews, soft serve, etc.; very well priced / would even pay more. Big fan of the Nomad at Night cocktail; sweet and fruity :) Amazing service, vibes & decor, and food. Will 100% be back as soon as I can secure a reservation again haha!
The most unique steakhouse experience
I’ve been to my fair share of steakhouses, but this was my first Korean steakhouse – what a treat! We all got the Butcher’s Feast and were blown away by the quality and quantity of amazing food. The meat melts in your mouth, and the sides are excellent too. Loved the salad and paella. Also big fans of the stews. To top it all off, the ice cream at the end with miso caramel was to die for. Will definitely be back, if lucky enough to snag a res!
What a fun experience this was.
We went big and did the omakase (pretty expensive so be prepared for that), but we got so much food and the service staff prepares all of the meat at the table for you, cooked to perfection. Everything was delicious. Make sure you go to the speakeasy downstairs after!
This was my third time at Cote and it's been a few years
This was my third time at Cote and it's been a few years since the last time I came. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't as good as I remembered. The Butcher's Feast used to be pretty good value, but due to high inflation in the past few years, it's price went from around $58 back in 2021 to $74 in 2024. I went with a group of five and for sides they gave us two egg souffles but only one each of the kimchi and soybean paste stews, which come in small bowls. It felt a little ridiculous that we were each paying for a Butcher's Feast but sharing 1/5 a small bowl of kimchi and soybean paste stew. I feel like they should at least provide two of each. I also didn't notice until the end of the meal but they took out the mushrooms and the grilled rice cakes from the set, which they used to include. I can't recall what I thought of the banchan the last two times I was here, but this time around I actively disliked them and couldn't really eat much of it. A lot of them were way too sugary for some reason, and I usually really like kakkdugi (cubed radish kimchi) but this time it was too salty. The meat was also a little oversalted, so when I tried dipping it in the ssamjang it was an overkill. This was also my first time sitting in their outdoor patio area, which definitely impacted the experience. It was hot outside, and there was only one fan in the booth to cool us down, so I was sweating during the entire meal. Luckily the servers cooked the meat separately, so there wasn't any extra heat from that. They also brought out all the raw meat at once, which is fine if you're inside, but the entire time I could see flies swarming over the meat, which was not super appetizing. Overall I think they should reconsider their outdoor setup.
Cote in New York truly lives up to its Michelin star
Cote in New York truly lives up to its Michelin star reputation. The steak is absolutely incredible, cooked to perfection by the skilled servers right at your table. The pacing of the meal is excellent, allowing you to savor each course without feeling rushed. One of the most pleasant surprises is that you leave without the usual lingering smell typical of KBBQ restaurants. The atmosphere is sophisticated and well-maintained, enhancing the overall dining experience. The service at Cote is top-notch, with attentive and knowledgeable staff ensuring your meal is flawless from start to finish. However, reservations are a must and need to be made well in advance. Make sure to call ahead to secure your spot. Overall, Cote offers a fantastic dining experience that is a must-visit when in New York. Highly recommended!
A food memory for life!
Pure magic! The hype is real and it was not easy to get a table - now we know why. Cote is something else. We went for the Butcher’s Feast and added the Japanese A5 wagyu. All cuts served were so delicious - next level is not enough. We had to close our eyes to fully experience all flavors. We will never forget this food memory.
Not your grandfather's Steakhouse
Delicious. Had three different varieties of steak. Each one melts in your mouth. Server suggested the special house wine that they had that night. I found that it paired perfectly (everyone around us was talking about the wine--reminded me of Italy where the house wine usually beats anything else). Service was a bit bumpy as people were either going on break, etc.--that was the disappointment of the evening for a Michelin restaurant and why 4 instead of 5 stars. But would I go back and recommend--Yes! One of the best steaks I've ever had--Yes!!
Wrong visit
We entered without a reservation, were advised of a 30-minute wait at the bar before being allocated a table. The young Sheril from Puerto Rico suggested we enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited. However, she later informed us that no tables would be available at that time.
Great if you’re going for the ambiance.
Our second visit. First time was sitting outside in the (closed) street during COVID. This was our first time inside. Cote has become very popular and gained a Michelin Star in the interim. The service and ambiance are excellent. There are many servers who are all polite, attentive and helpful. Seating at the tables is strikingly spacious for Manhattan. The bar seemed cramped, crowded and oddly right in the middle of everything (in a bad way, causing an obstruction). The cocktails are fancy and tasted great. The wine is poor. I would say the food is well presented, but the taste is adequate. There are plenty of more authentic and cheaper korean BBQ joints in NJ and Korea town, where the food tastes much better, without the flashy ambiance or popularity of Cote. My advice … go to Cote for the experience, but know there plenty of other choices if you are just looking for tasty food.
10/10.
Both the food and the experience were truly 5 star. The ambiance is dark with bright/neon lighting accents. Great vibe! The hostess was so sweet, she treated me and my friend to a drink at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. Delicious! Our server was great, the service overall was honestly great. Everyone was helpful, attentive, and kind. The food was... INCREDIBLE. We ordered the Butcher's Feast and every single thing on the table was amazing. The cuts, to the extras, to the soft serve, so so so good.
Long awaited visit.
Did not disappoint. However, we weren't able to eat indoors for the full experience, but it was still nice dining at their outdoor setup. Hope to visit again soon and get a table indoors next time. Delicious and high quality Korean dishes!
Butcher's Feast - a thoughtfully executed and flavorful
Butcher's Feast - a thoughtfully executed and flavorful meal. 4 different cuts of meat, plentiful sides, and a dessert, with the meal being relatively healthy (mostly proteins & vegetables). Would definitely recommend trying and I have enjoyed it every time. What I enjoy at Cote: - The variety & quantity. From unique and delicious side dishes such as perilla leaves, egg soufflé, and stews, to the different types of meats, you get diverse tastes & filling amounts of food. - The flavors & quality. My personal favorites are the Wagyu Flatiron, A5 Miyazaki, and Cote galbi. The meats are tender and so flavorful even with just salt. Another flavor combination I love is the soy sauce + caramel glaze on the soft serve. What's great about The Butcher's Feast at Cote is the variety of dishes and flavor profiles. In addition, you don't have to do any work, as they cook everything for you. The small touches such as the smokeless grill and the coat attendant at the front all add up to being a great experience every time I go. I'd recommend making a reservation, as I've always been seated promptly without having to wait.
Ok so we finally tried this sought after famous upscale
Ok so we finally tried this sought after famous upscale Korean bbq and boy was I disappointed. Perhaps it was an off day for them or maybe I came in the game too late, but the quality of the meat was good but not blow me away good. The service we received was also subpar. To give some context to the service, let me explain. I booked a table to celebrate my fiancé's bday and clearly jotted that down on the ressie. Cake was brought in by my daughter and it was taken away to the back. Now tell me why the waiter came up to the table and asked in front of the bday boy if the cake was for the dinner or for storage? Ummmm....really? If it was unclear, you could've pulled me aside and asked me privately. I didn't expect such nervous waiters in a high end restaurant. Now the food, the appetizers and cocktails were good. We really enjoyed them. The meat was also good but I expected better I guess. I've eaten a lot of kbbq in my life from all different price ranges. That was meh. Def no to kimchi fried rice. The tartare and pork belly app was bomb. Ambience was very New York nightlife vibe. The tables are too close together I think. It's like nyc nightlife vibes. I've chatted with friends just to see what their thoughts are and they seem to love it there. Perhaps it was just an off day. 6/10 will not go back again unless it's someone's celebration and I have no choice. Photos aren't that great coz I'm not the best photographer and I also had a few drinks in plus the lighting. Sorry! But better than nothing
Cote Korean Steakhouse
Not your typical koreatown restaurant. More like fine dining version of Korean BBQ. Top notch service and high quality beef. Give it a shot if you want to try something different than going to 32nd st.
Mouth watering steaks.
Service was fabulous. They were very accommodating to someone in our party that had a shellfish allergy. I really liked our waitress for this and for her overall friendliness. Oh, and the meal was capped out perfectly with the little vanilla soft service with soy-caramel syrup. It was the absolute most refreshing way to cap off the red meat heavy meal! I thought it was great to be in a Michelin star restaurant that had a plethora of young people not wearing sport jackets for once.
Immaculate service, and the food was sublime.
In terms of service, your table was never left unattended, and if you wanted to make an order, you could flag any of the staff, not just your dedicated server, an art that is lost in many establishments. The meat was levels above what you can get at a competitor Kbbq location for a comparable price, a testament to their painstaking dry-aging process, which I learned about when watching a YouTube video highlighting the chefs' preparation. I am glad I took the risk and splurged on this place, as the prices are very reasonable, but the portions, including the meat, quite generous. The soups were on the saltier side, but the freshness of the ingredients and authenticity of the pickled radish made up for these slight shortcomings, which are preferential. I plan to return to this fabulous restaurant. Amazing, trendy ambiance to boot, which was icing on the cake.
Best all round Korean food experience.
All round best Korean food experience with outstanding service and a very well rounded selection on their Butcher’s Delight.
bruh. trendy, filled with white people with too much money.
bruh. trendy, filled with white people with too much money. food is whack, most of the meat is wildly average with a few cuts that are good but not 30$/ounce good. like there's SO much good korean food nearby why would you go here other than for clout
A pretty trendy spot for upscale Korean bbq.
I can still remember the softness and butteriness of the meat. Aside from the meat, we also ordered the house-smoke pork belly, scallion salad, kimchi wagyu paella, and oysters. They also have a good selection of banchan. Our server was also great, he took care of us the entire night by cooking our meat and making sure it was to our liking. The only negative part about our experience was that we had a 9PM reservation and didn't get seated till close to 10PM. We even arrived a little early to get seated on time. Overall, this place was still pretty good and wouldn't mind coming back!
Reservations here are quite difficult to get so ended up
Reservations here are quite difficult to get so ended up coming here for an early dinner. I've tried different KBBQ before and have to admit that COTE puts a unique modern twist that gives you that sense of fine dining with the familiarity of Korean BBQ. I would also say the price is quite fair for the experience too. If you're able to get a reservation, worth a try.
Flew out from CA for Valentine's Day to celebrate
Flew out from CA for Valentine's Day to celebrate anniversary with my gf. I gotta say, definitely worth the trip. Enjoyed the food and the service. Server cooked food for us, cooked it well and he provided really good info with the questions my gf and I asked. You could tell he enjoys the interactions he has with the guest (shout out to our server, Laslow). He was so informative, such a total connoisseur. I really appreciate the experience he provided. Definitely will be coming back on my next NY trip.
For Steak Aficionados
Very hard to get a reservation but worth the trouble. Tried their Butcher’s Feast which consists of 4 different cuts of meat of 2 oz each (hangar steak, 45-day dried ribeye, American wagyu & Korean galbi), soup, an egg souffle, a number of Korean pickled sides, and dessert. I added a Japanese A5 Wagyu as supplement. You know the quality of meat is excellent if the only seasoning you need is a sprinkle of salt. All the meats were incredibly tender but the best was of course the A5 Wagyu. Finely marbled and melt in your mouth buttery and rich. I would definitely go back and next time order the A5 and the galbi again. While it is Michelin-rated, atmosphere is laid-back, informal and unstuffy. Pricing is also reasonable compared to other steakhouses in the city. Service is decent and the servers do know how to grill a perfect medium rare in front of you. Liked that the grills are smokeless so you don’t leave the restaurant smelling like a chimney.
Disappointing Service at Cote Korean Steakhouse
Disheartened by Disappointing Service at Cote Korean Steakhouse. Our family's recent dining experience at Cote Korean Steakhouse was unfortunately overshadowed by subpar service from our waitress, Olivia. Despite the restaurant's reputation for delectable Korean cuisine and a stylish ambiance, Olivia's inattentiveness and lack of culinary knowledge left us feeling disheartened and dissatisfied. From the moment we were seated, Olivia's demeanor was noticeably dismissive. She struggled to explain the Korean food concept, offering vague and unhelpful responses to our inquiries. Her lack of knowledge about the menu was evident, leaving us to navigate the culinary landscape on our own. Throughout our meal, Olivia's presence was sporadic and her interactions with us were curt and unwelcoming. She rarely checked in on us, failing to inquire about our satisfaction or offer drink refills. Her lack of attentiveness extended to the end of our meal, as she simply dropped off the check without any words of gratitude or farewell. While the food and ambiance at Cote Korean Steakhouse were ok, Olivia's service shortcomings left a lasting impression that detracted from the overall experience. We were disappointed that such a reputable establishment would allow such subpar service to go unnoticed.
Without doubt a perfect evening
Absolutely delicious food, incredible flavors that just left you in awe. Amazing service! Awesome vibe. Truly loved it and one of our best dinners ever
Cote on bucket list!
Stinky toilet, poor lighting ...there was hair on my steak...was on my bucket list but not anymore...you can't say if it's Asian,American or whatever...too pricey but since it was on my list so 🤷🏻 ♀️

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
