This place is overrated.
The food looks good but its overpriced. We got the butchers feast which was 68 dollars person and included around 10 small pieces of meat. The meats were mostly delicious, except for the galbi which was pretty average. The sides- radish kimchi 5/10 bland and not as good as other places- kimchi 4/10 thin in texture and not flavorful- mustard greens 8/10 this was the only good side imoThere's better korean barbecue all around k-town and in queens. Here's some better ones- gopchang story- love bbq- gan hoo bbq (flushing)- kang ho dong (flushing)- cast iron pot (flushing)- chilsung garden (flushing)

Great quality and amazing service! The wait staff goes from table to table in their area to cook and flip at just the right moment. Unique cocktails to get it going. Plenty of sides and accompaniments. Highly recommended but be prepared to spend liberally.
Be the first to ReplyThis place def lived up to the hype for me.
It was almost impossible to get a resy, but I was so happy I finally was able to! We all did the butchers feast with the A5 wagyu as an add on and wow it was so worth. The meat was so tender and flavorful and our server was so nice and prepped everything perfectly for us!! Would def go back!

Delicious place to eat Korean barbecue! Of the appetizers, the tuna tartar (comes with delicious chips on the side), chicken nuggets (they are served at the bar but sometimes they let you order it at the table), and the scallops. My table ordered the butchers feast, and all the cuts were great. My favorite cuts were the flat iron and the galbi. Both cuts were flavorful and juicy. The wait staff is very considerate and explain all the pieces. They start off greasing the grill with a slab of fat, and they make a show out of it by provoking fire. It was a great experience!
Be the first to ReplyCote is one of the more affordable Michelin meals.
Considering the cost of other one Michelin star establishments, Cote is a very good deal. You can get a meal with your party for less than $100 and feel very full afterwards. My friends and I ended up getting the butcher's feast along with the steak tartare and kimchi wagyu paella. The wagyu in the paella just melted in my mouth. However, it was more wet and somewhat creamier than what I expected it to be. Our waiter/meat cooker portioned the paella for us into bowls. The steak tartare was good. Having the quinoa act like caviar was very innovative. The tendon puffs were able to hold up the weight of the beef without breaking and provided great contrast to the tender meat. The butcher's feast was very satisfying and eat cut was cooked perfectly in front of us. The dwen-jang soup was spicer than the spicy kimchi stew. The kimchi stew was highly fermented as it tasted more sour. Banchan was great all around, especially the fermented perilla leaf. I liked that the ssam wasn't just lettuce but included perilla leaves as well. The savory egg souffle was oh so soft, and the edges had a nice char against the bowl. Samjang was average. I've had better. The soft serve at the end was amazing. I loved the savory sweet soy sauce caramel, and it paired so well with the vanilla soft serve. We did end up ordering too much because everyone got a bowl of rice on top of getting a bowl of paella. Even though the waitstaff recommended getting an appetizer with the feast, it would've been just enough with the feast. Cote is good, but it wasn't life changing compared to other Korean bbq places I've had without the acclaim of a Michelin star.

Steak omakase meal at cote was delicious and definitely worth giving it a try to experience what a Michelin star Korean bbq meal entails. Everything from start to finish was amazing and I was very impressed with how they were able to elevate Korean bbq like this. We also got a couple rounds of their mixed drinks and every drink we ordered was really well made and tasted great. Every cut of meat was absolutely amazing and I loved every single course. And all of the banchans that came with the meal were impressive.

Cote has been on my list for quite some time and reservations are rather difficult to come by, especially for a party of two. We got the steak omakase for a special occasion. The servers cook the meat for you and explain what everything is of course. This is not a typical steakhouse experience, Cote offers more interactive and fun experience as you see the meat cooking in front of you. The steak omakase, although expensive, was very good. You'll be leaving very satisfied, not too full but also not hungry. The American and Japanese wagyu were absolutely mouth-watering! The bonchon (side dishes) are amazing! Service here is good, there is a coat check. And there is also a speakeasy/cocktail bar in the basement, which is likely just as busy as cote itself
Be the first to ReplyWasn't sure what to expect, but left feeling satisfied.
We had the Butcher's Feast. The food was great but you can get similar quality for a better price. However, for a special occasion, I think this is worth it if you're looking for something fancier. Excellent service. It's easier to get reservations for 4+ people I believe.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and ambience.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the service. I'm not sure if it was because they were too busy but left a little left out. Overall would be back and hope to get better service.
Be the first to ReplyThe presentation was pretty.
Service was good. Not really sure why there's a Michelin star though because nothing was AMAZING. The quality of the meat is good but not spectacular. The meat was juicy and nicely marinated for the marinated cut but the portions for the meat were extremely small. I guess the portion of side dishes tried to make up for the lack of portion size.

Tl;dr: Amazing experience, lots of food, good service, make reservation, secret bar We came here during our visit to NY after hearing about all the hype. Think we got lucky and only had to book the reservation a week in advance, but heard it can also be 2-3 weeks sometimes, so book em early!! We ordered the Butcher's Feast as well as drinks and a couple other sides like the oyster here. The Butcher's Feast came with four chef selected cuts and sooo many yummy sides plus Ban-Chan, scallion salad, lettuce wraps, egg soufflé, and a nice soft serve dessert. My favorites were the: - marinated galbi that they served last - mushroom (they placed these juicy mushrooms on the rack and served it to us when it was cooked with a puddle of soup in the middle!)- egg soufflé- dessert!!The meat and experience was amazing and left us feeling very happy and fulfilled. PSA they also have a "secret" bar downstairs that I'd really recommend you checking out! We were way too stuffed by the time we finished to order any drink, but it looked like such a relaxing place to chill if you have some extra time!

I came here with a party of five for dinner last Tuesday, and each one of us left much happier people. We kept it simple and just got the Butcher's Feast. They gave us four different cuts of meat and lots of sides. Every single cut was delish, but the one that still has my mouth watering until now was the last cut -- the marinated galbi. The sides were also really memorable, look out for that egg soufflé. It really reminded me of the good chawanmushi egg I would eat from home. For cocktails, get their Friesling--they still have green chartreuse in this shortage! The server was also super nice and friendly. He cooked everything perfectly in front of us, and gave great recs and conversation. I will definitely be back soon to try to full steak omakase meal, and just to try more cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyIt's 100% worth the hype! From service to food.
The ambiance is casually intimate. We ordered the butchers feast, wagyu paella, A5 japanese wagyu Miyazaki, and 2 drinks (princess peach, the wicked). All the meat are fragrantly cooked and all came out medium-medium rare. I honestly love all of the food, especially the japanese wagyu and scallion salad. The reservation for 2 people are either first or last seating and I recommend emailing them for availability before walking in. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible experience.
The cuts were delicious, the service was attentive and top quality, wonderful drinks and delicious sides. The quintessential Korean Steakhouse at the top level of New York dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed our time at Cote.
The service was excellent, and the food and beverages were outstanding. We sampled several different steak cuts, all of which were flavorful, tender, and fresh!

Cote is a Michelin-starred Korean Steakhouse in NYC that specializes in Korean BBQ. During my recent visit, I was lucky enough to have Christy join me for dinner since they only offer a minimum dining experience for two guests.Upon arrival, we were promptly seated at a cozy outdoor booth equipped with a heater for added comfort. Cote offers a la carte options, a butcher feast with set meats and banchan, or a steak omakase menu. We decided to go with the butcher feast, which includes four different cuts of meat and various Korean accompaniments. We also ordered the steak tartare and some scallops to grill alongside the meat. The steak tartare was absolutely delicious, with a refreshing hint of citrus that paired perfectly with the tender beef. The butcher feast arrived with generous portions of banchan, scallion salad (my personal favorite), red leaf lettuce with Ssam-jang, savory egg soufflé, and two types of stew. Our attentive server assisted us in grilling all of the meat table-side. The selection of meat was good and I thoroughly enjoyed trying each cut both on its own and wrapped in lettuce. To cap off the meal, we indulged in soft serve, which was the perfect sweet and creamy treat. I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and eager to return to try the steak omakase.Overall, Cote was a delightful dining experience with excellent food, attentive service, and cozy ambiance. If you're a fan of Korean BBQ, I highly recommend giving this Michelin-starred restaurant a try.
Be the first to ReplyCote was absolutely delicious.
My friends and I had the butchers feast which was the perfect amount of food for us to get our fill. I've had a lot of Korean bbq spots, especially being from California. However, what took Cote to the next level was the ambience, food, and service. Our server Ron was absolutely phenomenal. He didn't rush us at all, and the took his time to explain about every little detail regarding our meal.100/10 for Ron!!!

Food/service/environment all very good! Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed a fancy KBBQ! Love the atmosphere of this place as well. It might as well be a night club The food was also great! I love high quality meat every-time! The service was also very nice and talkativeMaybe the only thing I had an issue with was that our server who was cooking our meat maybe had too much salt bae energy within him haha

I've never been so impressed with a Korean restaurant in my life outside of my mom's home cooked Korean meals. Thank you, Cote. That was a beautiful meal.-- We got the Butcher's Feast (tasting menu).

Another great night of delicious meat! Cocktails were great yet again. The butchers combo is insanely filling - we weren't able to finish it all. The ice cream and shot at the end were yum. Staff was courteous, fun, and Carlos was a great sport.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was amazinggg Korean bbq.
It's a bit on the pricier side situated in Chelsea, but the quality is worth it. On a Saturday night, we were lucky we got an 8 pm reservation which they seated us timely without any wait. Parking is super easy on the same block on weekends. For 5 people, we got the Butcher's Feast, Tuna Tartare for appetizer, and a Kimchi Seafood Paella to share. The Tuna Tartare was fresh and a nice salty umami mix with the crispy seaweed chips it comes with. Presented nicely, but I wish there was more. The meats were so marbled and so buttery in your mouth, it was perfection. The Butchers Feast comes with a nice assortment of meats, egg soufflé, banchan, two yummy soups, lettuce, rice, and scallion salad - everything you need. The Kimchi Seafood Paella was better than I thought it would be - this dish is a MUST!!! I eat mild spice level and this was tolerable for me. Overall, the food was spectacular. My only gripe about the food is that I wish their banchan was a little more authentic with more dishes. Banchan is a huge staple to a Korean meal and that was a bit of a let down. While the food tasted generally authentic and great quality, I felt like the lack of any Korean staff members took away the authenticity just a little bit. We had a good experience though and would come again.

My friend snagged a lucky lucky reservation for this place and boy was it an experience! It's a glowing purple hue inside, roomy cool and spacious. The service is definitely high end -- organized, friendly, efficient. Beautiful setting and aura. Classy feel but with a hip twist. For first timers, I would recommend the Butcher's Feast which gives you a taste of all their recommended cuts. Everything was so delicious and so tender but my favorites were the fatty shoulder and the marinated beef. The dry aged cuts were also melt in your mouth and mellow. I enjoyed the novelty of Korean style BBQ fusion with western style dry aging (the dry aging chamber is downstairs across from the hidden speakeasy, aptly named UNDERCOTE). The side dishes were good, particularly the green onion salad, but the variety was less than some places I've been in korea town LA. I'd come here for the meat alone, not necessarily for the other dishes.
Be the first to ReplyCote was a fun experience! The vibe of the restaurant felt
Cote was a fun experience! The vibe of the restaurant felt very inviting and it's located in a nice area. They take you to a standing bar to wait while they prepare your table or if the rest of your party was still arriving. I enjoyed a water there but the bartender was friendly. Ice cubes were cool too. As one of the only Michelin KBBQ around, I was really excited to try Cote. My party got the butchers feast and seasonal fish. The banchan was fresh (onions and okra were great) and the meat came out pretty quick. The servers cooked for us right away and the bites of meat were great, meat was tender and juicy. The beef here was nothing short of amazing, and I expected the fish to be the same. However, the fish tasted rather ordinary for the price point (~$45) I was paying and was a bit of a disappointment. Steak was great thoughAlthough the food at Cote is overall very solid and the cuts of meat are premium, I like to measure flavor by the dollar, and Cote provided a little less food than I thought a KBBQ normally would. 4/5 people in my party still were a bit hungry afterward, but everyone enjoyed the bites that they had. Also wanted to mention the ice cream at the end was really amazing. Definitely a great way to end the meal. Solid experience overall.
Be the first to ReplyWas extremely excited to try out this place.
I initially saw a feature they had on YouTube and told myself I have to go there. Made the reservation on sevenrooms 30 days in advance. For being a Michelin star rated restaurant I had very high expectations although I was left quite disappointed. I ordered the butchers feast, also an additional American Wagyu Cote Steak. All the sides were ok although each cut of steak lacked depth and flavor. The meats are cooked by the waiter and I told him that I wanted my steak to be cooked medium and not medium rare as they recommend. Because of the lack of attention by our waiter our steak was more on the medium well side which was not tender. I had better steaks are other steakhouses in the city.Overall I thought that the service wasn't up to par. Because the waiter is in charge of cooking the steaks and tending to multiple tables, the service has to be spot on for the steaks to be cooked perfectly while also maintaining a high level of exceptional service. However the service overall was lackluster, they were times where I couldn't find him. Felt as if he didn't care too much about my table. To make matters worse, I gave the server a standard 15% tip despite the service, and somehow when I checked my credit card statement I was overcharged more than a 25% tip. I reached out to management and they fixed the issue.I was expecting an over the top experience at the only Michelin rated Korean Steakhouse in NYC and ended up quite disappointed overall.3/5 stars.
