Welcoming, delicious , 5 star service
With this being our first visit to New York and our 25th anniversary celebration, I decided to reserve a nice dinner at the end of our busy tourist day. From the time we were seated, we received top notch attention and treatment. Our anniversary was immediately acknowledged by multiple staff, were gifted a personalized copy of the menu , and a complimentary sparkling wine. Our head waiter expertly guided us through our menu selections and wine choices with a friendly and helpful demeanor. I lost count of the number of staff who unobtrusively served us and whisked plates away at the precise times. ( Of course , our water remained filled throughout) . Not once did we have to ask for attention. A very special thank you goes to Desmond, and CeSar for their outstanding service. In addition, I’m so grateful to Cheran for making our experience NEXT LEVEL. The memory of our experience will last a lifetime. Michael Keogh we appreciate your talent and hospitality!!

My son and I were celebrating my birthday, and had high hopes for a fabulous dining experience. The ambience is without a doubt impressive. My son had let them know it was my birthday, and our menus had “Happy Birthday “ printed at the top, a nice touch. The restaurant was less than half full, yet the service was lacking. We were at our table a full 15 minutes before any acknowledgment (water, drink order). Our nice waiter was clearly stretched too thin, and was apologetic. Eventually our drinks came, then a lackluster amuse-bouche of butternut squash appeared. We shared wildly overpriced so-called “Bad Boy” oysters on the half shell, and wonderful grilled octopus as appetizers. Having heard so many accolades for the short ribs, we bit the bullet and ordered this $67 (!!) entree, along with the seared tuna. The tuna was delicious, but the short ribs were embarrassingly poor — chewy, flavorless, and swimming in a greasy broth. So disappointing and surprising for such a fine dining restaurant. Later, when the manager came over, I mentioned the mediocre short ribs. He was quite apologetic, said they weren’t from the restaurant’s usual purveyor (then why serve them?), and immediately removed them from our bill and comped us a round of drinks. A classy move. He also said they were missing some of their service staff. I didn’t have the heart to mention my birthday, so no special treat arrived as promised on the website.

My fiancé and I had dinner at craft in November the week before Thanksgiving. We showed up for our 8:00 p.m. reservation and were informed that they were running about twenty minutes behind - no bid deal. The woman we spoke with asked if we would like to sit at the bar while we waited, which was perfectly fine with us. Cocktails were excellent, which was good for us as we had a very long time to sit with them. We didn’t get seated for dinner until 10:00 p.m. At that point, we had checked with the person we first spoke with multiple times, and we noticed people coming in well after us were being seated. I pointed this out to our original contact, who apologized and offered to take care of our cocktails, which was appreciated. We were seated shortly thereafter. We came in well dressed, were polite, and acted as one expects in a fine dining establishment, so this was rather odd. We never really understood what happened. Anyway, I digress. Once we were seated, however (at a table another couple had asked to be moved from? Slight wobble - At that point we didn’t care), things improved. Our server was very pleasant. I had the big eye tuna entrée, which was top notch - the olives used in the dish this fall were a perfect balance for the flavor of the fish. My fiancé chose the duck and wouldn’t stop raving about it. The hen of the woods mushrooms were a stellar side dish I would highly recommend. So, all in all, a delicious meal in a lovely location, just much later than we had expected.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service, food, drinks . . . everything was great. We were sitting at the table to the left of the column in the pictures across from the bar. This was our 1st visit to Craft, and it was my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Our server gave us great recommendations starting with the huge bone in ribeye, potato puree and hen of the wood mushrooms - he basically ordered for the table with the exception of the drinks. It was a wonderful 5 Star dining experience. Next time in NYC we will be coming to Craft.
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant of our trip!
This was hands down our favourite restaurant of our over 2 week holiday in NYC. We loved it so much the first time, we cancelled a reservation we had on another night at another restaurant, so that we could return to Craft for a second time. The service was a huge step above any other restaurant we had dined at. Service was exceptional across the board, but a special shout out to Cesar and general manager John Gargano who went above and beyond. Food was amazing. Best risotto we had ever had in our lives thus far. Save room for dessert which was scrumptious!! Thank you to everyone at Craft, including all those working behind the scenes in the kitchen. We had two most memorable nights of our trip thanks to you!

Planned this family/holiday dinner in NYC for 2 months. Very disappointing, no other review is possible. Perhaps our expectations were too high (?), we've been to 25+ "Top Chef" (and Tom's) other restaurants. The restaurant is beautiful, great ambiance. Server had a bit of attitude from the start, no idea why. Sommelier was great, same for appetizers (the foie gras and the octopus)! Main course went downhill... steak and marrow (a specialty) was cold and under-seasoned, beyond shocking to us. Duck was overcooked and without crispy skin, again shocking. So, really no possible recovery from that. Server saw our troubles, (we didn't eat half our food), and didn't help or offer any fix or options, just more attitude. All we wanted and expected, of course, was Great Food, and simply didn't get that.

This was our first visit and we will definitely be back! The service was wonderful. Servers were very attentive to details to make our daughter's birthday dining experience a memorable one. The food was exceptional from start to finish - appetizers through dessert. We are extremely pleased with our overall experience.

We went to Craft to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Service was excellent--professional but not pompous. The food was very good. The only dish that was a bit of a letdown was a side order of chanterelle mushrooms which was dry and quite expensive.

I had a lovely brunch experience here. While not every dish is a hit out of the park, you get a good amount of food for the price you pay in a snazzy modern restaurant. Pair it with a fun cocktail selection and some dishes that taste as good as it looks, Craft is a wonderful place to celebrate any special occasion. While I wish service was a bit faster, it is a popular restaurant and things can get busier than expected. I really enjoyed the unique cheeses featured in some dishes, as well as their cod. Large portion sizes - you'll get the most bang for your buck and walk out feeling stuffed.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service with Some Good Dishes
This was our second visit to Craft since it opened many years ago. Then it was a stake house. Now Craft offers a more varied menu from pasta dishes to fish and meats. Some menu items are good to very good. These include the arugula salad and the mushroom risotto. The black bass was grilled with no sauce, nothing special. The burrata was a bit of a disappointment. Pavlova was good. Though the dishes are pricy with many entrees the $50 range and starters around $30, the wine list is reasonable. The very knowledgeable sommelier pointed us to a beautiful reasonably priced burgundy. Others service was good, also. John Gargano, the restaurant's maître runs a tight ship.

The staff is incredibly hospitable and warm. Particularly wonderful were the octopus, fish and squash agnolotti. A delightful meal, thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyGood food nice staff
The place is charming, the staff is really nice and the food is very delicious, big portion also. The only thing is that they can’t chose their clients and when you’re seated near 3 young ladies eating with their knees on the seat, speaking loudly you could say almost screaming, using their phone to watch videos … well that’s not what you want to see and hear in such a restaurant. I know it’s difficult but I guess manager should tell those kind of clients to leave or behave They were kind enough to give us another table and offered the dessert We will definitely come back

The hosts were welcoming and inviting. The food was scrumptious. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I had the pork. OMG...it was crisp on the outside. It was moist and juicy on the inside. It literally melted in my mouth. The wild mushrooms delicious and the greens were firm and perfectly sautéed. The greens had just the right amount of bite to them. Lastly, the Meyer Lemon sorbet tasted like a lemon festival in my mouth. It was light and refreshing. Lastly, the waitress was knowledgeable and accommodating. I loved everything about my experience. Quick note, the restrooms were very clean which says a lot in my book.

Beautiful restaurant, great service and excellent food. We went for an anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. Pricey but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyWONDERFUL Experience!
Everything was nearly PERFECT about my family’s experience here. The food was absolutely fantastic. The wait staff attentively ensured all our needs were met, questions answered, and the pace between drinks/ordering/meal courses wasn’t too fast or too slow. They also went the extra mile to customize our experience since we were celebrating a birthday. The only thing for us was that it was a little dark to read the menus for guests with limited eyesight. But we used phones!

Beautiful restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere despite a fullseated room. Observant waiters and perfect food. A very nice and succesful evening!
Be the first to ReplyGraduation Celebration
From start to finish, this was a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is beautiful, perfectly lit, and the music was a sublime backdrop to the evening. The food and drinks were delicious and beautifully presented. The service we received was personal and attentive, but not overly so. John, Julius, and Jesse made our graduation celebtration the evening we knew Craft would provide. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Evening
What an incredible night. Excellent drink choices (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), delicious starter (grilled octopus), mouth watering entrees (quail and duck) and sides (sauteed greens and gnochi) and the best dessert one could ask for (toasted marshmallow cake). Went for a birthday celebration and the staff was more than welcoming and made us feel like we were VIP. Highly recommend.

We traveled to NYC for Easter from New Hampshire. We are big fans of Craft and Tom and missed this place during the pandemic. We both ordered the anniversary Tasting menu. What a delight it was! Everything was served with perfect timing. food was very delicious (I found lamb on a tough side but everything else compensated for it, my husband had not complaints). We both had excellent Zelenski Mule cocktail to benefit Jose Andres' wonderful charity. Service was perfect. I've liked this place more than Daniel and Le Bernardin. It didn't disappoint this time either. The dinner was worth the price. thank you, Tom and Craft staff.
Be the first to ReplyEverything Was Amazing
The whole evening was simply perfect - the atmosphere, the food, the wine list and, most importantly, the staff. They all went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the full Craft experience. Our server, Cesar was absolutely incredible - so personable, so attentive, so knowledgeable about the menu and completely focused on our enjoyment. We also had the pleasure of meeting Tim, the floor manager and John, the General Manager both of whom took the time to introduce themselves, make sure we were happy and chatted with us. The food was so fresh and innovative and the wine list was extensive. We were made to feel like valued customers and, for that reason, we will return.

From the greeting to our exit, this was an amazing experience! The team approach to service complemented the dinner and added to our memorable visit, special thanks to Caesar. The ability to hear our conversation was a treat too. Each course was fantastic as was the cocktails and wine selection. Great night!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect for a special occasion
Came here for a special night out and weren't disappointed. We ordered the duck and the short ribs, and to be honest the short ribs were far superior and we'd highly recommend them. service was truly excellent and everything was at least good. Even the bread was amazing. Would be happy to return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat start, awesome middle, but disappointing end
Food was great but there were some service missteps that lessened our experience: we were halfway through dessert before our coffee arrived. Also waited close to 20 minutes after finishing dessert, ultimaty asking a busperson to notify our server we would like our check. She was pleasant, though. I hate even mentioning it but it did detract from an otherwise great evening.

Never, ever have I consistently had the quality and service of Craft. Been eating here for over a decade and it’s as good as it’s ever been. Best restaurant in NYC to me.
Be the first to ReplyAn Englishman in New York
With high expectations of this exclusive New York talking point, I booked ahead with the hope of a very special experience. With a 7.30pm reservation, I was 'disappointed' that the ribs I had come for were already sold out. The manager John Gargano came to explain the current supply challenges facing NY restaurants. He re-assured me that any other choice on the menu would delight. With a huge smile, 20 minutes later John brought me a plate of the ribs that he'd managed to procure. I was speechless. Needless to say the ribs were heavenly, but more importantly John and his team had turned my 'disappointment' into delight. Craft is a 'must' for any visit to New York.
