We had a very impromptu Sunday date lunch here with reservations made as we were leaving the house. I recommend parking at the lot on 9th and Massachusetts Avenue if you are having troubles finding street parking. The lot is about 2-3 blocks from the restaurant and you get to pass beautiful Center City on your walk there. Service was great as expected. The servers were attentive, warm, and did a thorough job describing the menu items. Since our lunch was not expected, we had a time constraint of 90 mins. Even though our server said the omakase can be done in that time frame and she can ask the kitchen to speed up the execution, we didn't want to risk it. We want to be able to sit and comfortably enjoy each dish. I ordered the smaller version of the omakase with their lunch bento box. I have to say the food was absolutely beautiful and pleasing to the eye with great detail in colors and garnishing. My favorite items from the bento box were the delicate and fresh scallops and the flavorful brussels sprouts. I also enjoyed the shrimp tempura with the creamy sauce. The other options were ok which included the chicken egg roll, wagyu Yakitori, and carrot salad. My husband ordered the bok choy and Wagyu appetizers which were both delicious. The sauces stand out for both dishes. He also ordered the unagi paella which was a nice spin and fusion of Japanese and Spanish cuisine. The rice was fatty and perfect with the fatty unagi. The server recommended to use the back of our spoons to scrap all the crispy rice from the bottom of the dish. Sadly, there wasn't that much crispy rice on the bottom and I was a bit disappointed. Otherwise, this dish is delicious. I think because Spanish food is heavily influenced in the menu here, the dishes were hardy, meaty, and full of robust flavors. I personally felt like many of the dishes were a bit heavy and it didn't take much to fill our bellies up. If anything, the presentation of the foods and the amazing service definitely makes this place worthy of visit and Michelin star!
