"Alright" place for a meal
I was in need of a light relaxing meal while in New York and Petrarca appealed as it was near my hotel, Italian and looked inviting. I ordered the plate of salami/ham and a small carafe of wine (Taurisi). Everything came quickly and was fine, but nothing was outstanding. Maybe it was early evening and the establishment lacked atmosphere, but despite the décor it did not feel “Italian” in any way (welcome, staff, ambience etc.) I am not sure that I would return
Be the first to Replya wonderful find
Our favorite trattoria closed, so we had to find another. This place is a great neighborhood restaurant. We've eaten here many times in the past year and we're always happy with the food, service and atmosphere. The salmon is great, as is the gnocchi. The wine list is terrific. Whether you're eating indoors, or out, this is the place to go.
Be the first to ReplyAs good today as it was nine years ago
It wasn't until I attempted to write a review of an August dinner with friends that Tripadvisor reminded me that I had eaten here before, for the second time -- in 2013! My review from then said that, while there are many restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, this one had the most interesting menu, and turned out to have great ambiance, food and wine. It still does, with the added attraction of offering gluten-free spaghetti or penne. My wife and I won't wait another nine years to return, and our friends have become believers, too.
Be the first to ReplyA cool spring evening...Petrarca was a movie-like find in our hotel neighborhood
There are innumerevoli Italian restaurants in Lower Manhattan. Several of those become highly regarded, richly recommended. Some feature easily visible locations in famed neighborhoods. Here's one you might not have heard about... Petrarca Cucina e Vino on White Street. On the corner of White and Church, the spacious windows, simple message chalkboard, the bold PETRARCA name emblazoned on the awnings, all this beckons one. The dining room is Edward Hopper style uncomplicated. One enters, scans and selects a table. The view is easy. Go for window side. The servers are friendly and unobtrusive. We split the Linguine Di Seppia--succulent and not over seasoned. For our green, we enjoyed the sauteed spinach. The crusty bread is just out of the oven. I can't take credit for finding this Italian epicurean delight. I'll leave that for you.
Be the first to ReplyGood mainstream Italian restaurant
Nice atmosphere though a bit cramped. Two notes: Carbonara good but extremely salty, they linguini were overcooked
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Tribeca Gem!
My fiance and I have been coming to Petrarca consistently for years! It is such a fabulous Italian restaurant. The quality of the food and service is always impeccable! Truly a Tribeca neighborhood gem! A wonderful outdoor people watching scene in the summer, with tables to dine al fresco while the ambiance during the cold months is delightfully cozy and warm. A great place to bring parents/grandparents, as you are able to easily hear people inside... some restaurants in NYC can get so loud in the evenings.

Cucina e Vino was a delight. Very extensive wine list. Nice menu with very good choice of specials. Good service and atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly service, nice and sunny place, hit or miss food
The place is nice, lots of windows and nice decor. The fresh pasta - both the spaghetti and the sage nhoque - were delish (main dish). We order the beef carpaccio and it was not good at all - the meat had no flavor and was not tender. We also ordered the arugula salad with shrimp (salad was good but the shrimp was among the worst I ever had, not seasoned properly, no flavor at all!). The cheese platter was good and the desert (profiteroles with ice cream) was a total hit!

Ivano, we can’t express how much we feel at home when we step through your doors. That is an uncommon experience these days. We look forward to having another five star experience. It would be acceptable in my eyes to visit at least a couple times a week! Thank you again.
