Amazing food, ridiculous prices on wine.
We ate in the bar, and the food and service was very, very good. Granted, the portions are small, as is appropriate for a tasting menu, and the prices are high. But we really only had difficulty swallowing the wine-by-the-glass price. $32 for a French burgundy, and $35 for a California pinot!?! We could have had a great bottle of Sonoma wine for that amount. Of course, not at Cyrus. This review would definitely be 5 stars, but I had to subtract for that. But to return to the positives, even the amuse bouches were surprising and superb. The quality and variety of ingredients in everything are beyond reproach. Finally, the pastry chef is absolutely a star. Her selection of delectables included tiny puddings, chocolates, cookies, and candies that delighted and amused. All in all we are happy to have had the experience.Sadly, this restaurant is now closed. Wonder where the chefs went???

Oh, I miss this restaurant so much! Champagne and caviar to start, and then one extraordinary dish after another. My husband and I stayed at the hotel, only to visit the restaurant, given the hotel was $500/nt. Impeccable service, extraordinary food. Fond memories.
Be the first to ReplyEating at Cyrus last year was bittersweet for us.
What a relief to be able to experience all they have to offer (for the first time) and disappointing that it will never happen again. They treated us like royalty for our 1st anniversary, I wish it was to become an annual trip. I won't go into details about the courses however a special dessert was brought to our table as a gift. It had a balloon which as it deflated caused a snowstorm of chocolate flakes inside a glass dome. The flakes finally landed on some rich chewy cookies, UNFORGETABLE!!
Be the first to ReplyI miss Cyrus, a lot.
When I got news of the restaurant's planned closure last October, I immediately made a panic call to the restaurant. I was lucky. I got to have one more dinner at Cyrus a few days before they closed for good. My first meal at Cyrus back in 2010 was magical and transformational. Before Cyrus, I really didn't care much about western cuisine, particularly the expensive ones. Manresa was the only other place where I had experienced tasting menu back then and it was just okay. But at the end of my first meal at Cyrus, I heard myself saying: Oh my god! I can't believe I am saying this. This is the best restaurant I have ever been to!After Cyrus I am more eager to try out other tasting menu restaurants such as Per Se, Robuchon and Meadowood, and open up my wallet in that process (cry cry!) All these places cost more and have more stars. But it didn't matter. I still like Cyrus the best. They had the best bread offerings. Seriously! Oh and the dessert/candy cart always made me super giddy! Every course of my three dinners there was consistently super yummy, simple yet complex, and always beautifully presented. What's more, the service was friendly, classy and precise, never stuffy or pretentious. I hope that Chef Keane, after a much deserving break and some fun at Top Chef Masters, will find the perfect spot to reopen Cyrus soon! I will be there.

Hands down BEST restaurant that I have ever been to!I took my wife here for her birthday and from the cocktails at the bar to the last crumb from the box they sent us home with (for the next day), every thing was excellent! We started in the bar I had a Dry Martini and my wife had a Lemon Drop...Closed now.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife took me to Cyrus last year for my birthday.
It was our first Michelin 2 star experience, and it's 4-star hype met our every expectation. We went with the 12 course and were more than stuffed by the time we reached the desserts. From the bartender recommended Pappy Van Winkle to the fried donuts at the end, Cyrus provided us an experience that is yet to be matched by any other dining establishment. In fact, we have often wondered whether it could possibly be exceeded.Chef Keane please come back to fine dining soon. We look forward to another exquisite experience!
Be the first to ReplyWay overdue review.
I went to Cyrus with hubby in late September right before they closed their doors. I really wanted to love Cyrus, and maybe I would have if I managed my expectations a little more. I think it was because they were showcasing their "Best of Cyrus" menu before they closed; the meal didn't really feel cohesive. Service was outstanding, though, and they helped me out with surprising another diner friend at a different table. :)
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite dining experience of all time.
The ambiance, service, and, of course, food, are all world class.
Be the first to ReplyI am sad to hear this place closed.
We went here to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and the service and good was exceptional. We were not able to get reservations for French Laundry even after trying to call in advance and instead followed a friend's advice and dined here instead. We went for the full 6+ course dining menu with wine pairing, the bill was about $500+ but I must say, it was totally WORTH IT! Everything dish served was a master piece. Presentation is exceptional and taste kept up with how good everything tasted. I hope the owners find a new location and re-open. I would make the drive to dine here for a special occasion. We even got a carry bag to take some desserts home because we were so full from the dining experience :)
