Simple stunning experience
My friend and I booked Da Terra after scouring the web to choose a Michelin star restaurant. I am so glad we picked Da Terra. The food and wine flight were amazing and it was the relaxed but efficient service that struck me. We both felt at ease and really relaxed when other Michelin restaurants can give off an air and pomp and grandeur. Definitely worth every penny.
Be the first to ReplyThank-you Team Da Terra!! Exceptional; Well Worth A Special Journey
Yet again, Chef Rafael Cagali and his superb team at Da Terra have excelled and exceeded all expectations for a well crafted, unique, and flavorful meal. I was so impressed with the quality of the meal I had 18 months ago that I brought a friend to share in the experience on this trip to London. And while we also visited two 3* restaurants on this trip, we both agree, Da Terra was the best all-around meal and foodie experience. Chef Rafaelโs personal attention to detail and passion for the food were evident in his frequent stops at our table to introduce a particular course and the quality of the food itself. I definitely will plan a return visit the next time Iโm in London and look forward to the day Team Da Terra earns their 3rd Michelin Starโthey and the food experience they create are worth it!!!

My partner and I came here for the first time to celebrate our 3 year anniversary and I was surprised at how low-key and relaxed the atmosphere was, which to me is a good thing! The service was truly impeccable and always friendly and warm. The decor appeared classy and minimalistic but look closely and you will see the incredible attention to detail. And the food, oh, the food. It was far and beyond better than what I expected. The chef definitely tells a story with each course and everything was very unique. Truly one of the best meals I've had. Absolutely phenomenal and worthy of its Michelin status. Chef Rafael Cagali deserves it all!

My wife and i are very lucky in that we visit a good many michelin star restaurants but we were not prepared for what Rafael had to offerโฆ.. I didnโt know if i should write a long review filled with all the incredible highs of our evening or leave it short as, i am still quite speechless and wouldnโt want to spoil anyoneโs visit by giving anything away. Hands down this is the finest restaurant I have even been to. Amazing evening thank you very much

We had the evening tasting menu. Everything was perfect: excellent food & wine, very nice & attentive staff, beautiful place & table setting. Compared to other Michelin Star Restaurants we have been to, Da Terra feels more relaxed and genuinely friendly. Even Rafael himself spends a meaningful amount interacting with his guests and explaining some of the dishes.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing attention to detail and top quality food.
Such a great experience at Da Terra. The quality of the food and presentation was first class. The staff were fantastic and knowledgable. Head chef is such a humble gentleman who takes pride in his restaurant. Three Michelin stars on the horizon..
Be the first to Replyร fantastic culinary experience again and much more
We went back there for our second dinner in this restaurant and we loved everything even more than the first time. The creativity of the chef, the recipes and the preparation of each dish are second to none. In addition to a perfect service we enjoyed very much the opportunities to talk to the chef when he brought himself dishes to the table. This was an extraordinary experience again.

Weโve been coming to Da Terra since they opened and have seen them grow in to a fantastic two michelin star restaurant. The food , wine and service has always been exceptional. This continued today with yet another amazing visit as once again the creativity from the kitchen of developing new dishes and the constant willingness to improve the quality of those that have been on the menu from the beginning. Our visit started with the usual warm welcome on arrival before we entered the restaurant. Here we were to be greeted by manager Charlie , sommelier Maria , head chef Mark where after a brief chat we then headed to our customary table 10. Once settled it was then nice of chef / owner Rafael to come over and say hello. This was followed by a nice surprise as we were treated to a complimentary glass of bubbles of our choice from Mariaโs new champagne trolley. Next was to decide on our menu choice. We opted for the full tasting menu and for the first time I chose to have the wine pairings whereas my wife only wanted to go for wines by the glass. We started precedingโs with the Caipirinha a take on a Brazilian cocktail. This was followed with a fabulous selection of snacks including a Duck Caesar , Stout Cup and Scallop along with the Mushroom and Taleggio Doughnut. Now it was time for the first course and what an incredible way to begin. The new Carabineros with datterini , palm heart and tomato vodka was absolutely mind blowing. This was paired beautifully by a Symington Family Estate Quinta de Fonte Souto 2020 from Portugal. Next to arrive was The Humble Chicken where the style of the dish had changed once more only to produce another stunning result. The wings , foot , yolk , white beetroot , tucupi and white truffle was a sensational burst of flavour on the palate. This version we both thought was the best to date. The dish was complimented superbly with a fantastic Negotians Vinarius Posip Tardiff 2020 orange wine from Croatia. Next to arrive was the Sourdough with bone marrow , cultured butter , gonneli 1585 olive oil. This dish has also been redeveloped to include a bone marrow spread and two slices of charcuterie. The pairing for the bread was a local dark mild from the local Boxcar brewery. This led us to the classic Moqueca a brazilian fish stew of aged turbot , manteiguinha beans and farofa. The few little tweaks made in the kitchen elevated this classic dish to an even higher level. The wine selection came from Mariaโs home country of Greece. A fabulous Estate Argyros Cuvee Monsignori 2019 was an absolute treat. Our next course was the Cannelloni of courgette , houghton springs farm trout and chervil along with trout charcuterie. The wine pairing for this course was a Chateau Montus Blanc 2014. Now it was time for the main course and what a lovely surprise we were about to receive. We were honoured to be given the opportunity to try the new Pork Loin dish with cassava , sausage , morel and chimichurri. Well be could both honestly say it was amazing and I hope everyone gets to enjoy it soon. This was matched by an incredible Shafer 2018 red wine from the Napa Valley in California. Full of red and black berry flavours but not high in tannins made it an absolute dream. Next to come was the Romeo and Juliette a delightful cheese course featuring a goatโ cheese and a guava gel. This was nicely paired with a 30 year old Apostles sherry from Gonzales Byass. This brought us to the Baba with cachaca , pistachio and N25 reserve caviar. Now it was time to finish this fabulous menu with dessert. The Pineapple with coconut , fermented pineapple juice and verbena was a perfect way to end. The pairing was a sweet wine sent from the gods. The Umathum Beerenslause 2019 from Austria with citrus and honey flavours was just the perfect match. We finished with tea and coffee accompanied by a selection of Petit Fours including Cupuaca Cake , balsamic ice cream , macae chocolate and passion fruit and liqueur candy. This brought to end an outstanding dining experience that will be very hard to beat this year. The food was exquisite , the wine pairings were amazing and the service was impeccable. I really would highly recommend a visit here as you will enjoy food that you simply canโt get anywhere else. Thank You Rafael , Charlie , Maria , Mark and all the team for an amazing lunch and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Me and my partner went to DaTerra a few months ago and had a wonderful time. It is a blind tasting menu, so you do not have to order and let the chef make you discover their world. I really enjoyed the non alcoholic pairing. Every course was better than the other with a true explosion of flavors in your mouth and the service was great. I really loved the desert called "romeo and Juliet"

Da Terra is in my neighbourhood and I find myself going back here often. Each and every time, I am amazed at how incredible the food is. When compared to some other 2-star restaurants I've been to in London, the experience feels more deserving of 3 stars. Service is exceptional and they have very kindly catered to my salt intolerance for a couple of months. The only small criticism I have is that they should carry more natural wines in the menu and include a few options in the 'by the glass' list. Apart from that, everything is perfection. Fine dining doesn't get finer than this.
Be the first to ReplyFinest symphony of flavours, texture, color and form. Food & Wine. A must visit!
Yum Yum to this Modern European 2 Michelin Stars food heaven, in London. Rafael, the chef drawn inspiration from his Brazilian and Italian roots to deliver a blind tasting menu (omakase) that paired amazingly with the selection of wines. One food space you cannot ignore. A must visit when u are in London. Go for the pairing, u be thrilled by it. Thankfulasalways โค๏ธ๐โค๏ธ๐โค๏ธ๐ #daterra

It was a pleasure to be back at Da Terra again and have some delightful dishes prepared by Chef Rafael Cagali and his team and served by some wonderful and friendly staff under the watchful eye of charming Charlie. The new decor was very welcoming and I did notice also the change of crockery and cutlery - beautiful!!! The open kitchen also great and I placed my guest to ensure that she had full view of all that was happening in the kitchen. The menu was different to the last time I was there - this time the dishes were based on a Brazilian take and was absolutely delightful and full of surprises. It is quite difficult to choose which dish was the best as each had its own superb and distinct combination of flavours. But I have to admit - the Moqueca dish was simply divine. No wonder Da Terra has earned a second Michelin Star - well deserved indeed!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent but would have liked a bit more Brazilian influence
We had dinner for two, the long tasting menu, which took around 3+ hours. Everything was impeccable - taste, presentation , service, and engagement of the wait staff. The chef made a point to go to each table during the evening and of course we can see the kitchen at work from the dining area which is always nice. We were perhaps hoping to see more Brazilian influence in the menu but this is a minor comment, as is the fact that several dishes had that umami hit that all top-end restaurants seem to have nowadays. A very pleasant evening, slightly expensive but we are not complaining since it was all very enjoyable.

Canโt leave a review of my experience as Iโve not been able to secure a booking due to my dairy intolerance. Whilst I fully appreciate dishes canโt always be adapted, I would expected a 2 Michelin star restaurant would be more willing and creative in their approach to support vegan or dairy free customer.
Be the first to ReplyHands down one of the best meals I have ever had
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday in March. From start the finish, the meal was incredible along with excellent service. The pacing of the dishes was spot on also. In terms of flavours, we were both blown away by the complexity and ingenuity of the dishes prepared by the chef and his team. I can confidently say that this restaurant sets the benchmark at the moment for the overall experience and value for money.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the money, amazing experience
Everything is perfect(food(taste, design, portion), service, tableware, atmosphere), we enjoyed our evening there from 6:30 to 22:00.

Unbelievable food and service. Would highly recommend. Service was great, lovely atmosphere. Sommelier was very knowledgable and personable
Simply Outstanding
There could not have been a much better way to get my 2022 Michelin Star year up and running than with an absolutely fabulous lunch at Da Terra. The food with some new dishes and redesigned old ones was amazing , the wine pairings from sommelier Maria were perfect and the service was impeccable as always. Weโve had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant from the beginning three years ago through to the two michelin stars they have now but I would have to say that this visit just about tops them all.
On saturday we arrived at Bethnal Green station and took the short walk to the town hall where you will find Da Terra. A warm welcome awaited from Jasmin before she escorted us to our now customary Table 10. Once seated over came manager Charlie for a nice chat and to offer us a complimentary glass of bubbles to welcome us back. Now to the menu where there is a choice of three tasting menuโs to which we opted for the long ten course.
We started things of with the fabulous and refreshing amuse bouche called the Caipirinha based on the brazilian cocktail. This led us to a selection of snacks that were simply delicious. A Cod Croquette , Beef Tacos , Taleggio Doughnut and a fabulous New Scallop Cup.
Before we moved onto our first course it was time to select some wine to pair with the menu and I have to say that sommelier Maria came up with an absolute beauty. The Robert Sinskey 2016 Pinot Noir from the Napa Valley in California was light and fruity and just a sublime pairing.
So now to start the menu of we enjoyed a stunning Arctic Char with houghton springs , courgette & tucupi. This was followed by the Custard with mussel , sake kasu , trout roe , seaweed and accompanied with sea lettuce crackers that was easily one of the best dishes Iโve eaten at Da Terra. Next to arrive was the famous Chicken which had been revamped and personally I thought it was the best version to date. It came with wings , liver , feet , egg yolk & onion.
Now it was time for the Bread course featuring sourdough along with bone marrow and three types of butter. This led us to the Moqueca a fantastic brazilian fish stew with wild turbot , palm heart & farofa and accompanied with chillies to just add a little heat to the dish.
We now moved to the meat dishes which started with the fabulous Raviolo of duck , whey , watercress and smoked duck charcuterie. Then it was time for the Hereford Short Rib with crosnes , cassava , chimichurri and heavenly veal sweetbread salad. These were just another two superlative dishes to add to what weโd enjoyed throughout our lunch.
Next to arrive was the cheese course called Romeo and Juliette with a goatโs cheese topped with a guava gel and a fennel cracker. This led us to the Baba with cahaca , pistachio and kaluga before finishing with the dessert of Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb with coconut and twenty five year old balsamic. I have to say the addition of coconut really enhanced this dessert to the next level.
We finished with coffee , petit fours and a digestive from their drinks trolley to bring to end another outstanding visit to Da Terra. The food under the inspiration of Rafael , Mark and all the team with the combination of new and revamped dishes was simply stunning. The wine pairings from sommelier Maria were a absolute delight and the service led by manager Charlie was first class. A visit to this restaurant really is a must especially with itโs brazilian influence that your unlikely to experience anywhere else. I really canโt wait to plan my next visit.
Thank You Rafael , Charlie , Mark , Maria and all the team for a truly fabulous dining experience and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
It has Got even Better!
I last visited this restaurant before it got its first Michelin Star. Now it has two stars and they are well deserved.
Rafa, the talented man behind this success, recognised me and welcomed me very warmly. He has a genuine warm personality without any pretentions - unlike some other "Diva" chefs I have met.
The food has developed into a food lovers delight. It was not experimental but it pushed you to the limits of great flavour. Some of the tasting menu dishes made me cry out for more!
All of the courses were served with friendly enthusiasm and attention to detail.
The wine master (with amazinging hair!) made very interesting choices with the wine flight. He was also an amazing character.
All in all, it was a superb pleasure to dine there.
One of those perfect meals
Interior is nice , modern.
Warm welcome, open plan kitchen- we were in the room away from the kitchen.
Had the 10 course - absolutely excellent.
The amuse was amazing.- so many and all outstanding in appearance and taste.
Some outstanding dishes: the ceviche, the chicken, the beef.
Desert was good.
Service was good- slightly slow in clearing empty glasses.
Nice touch by Rafael Cagali to present three of the dishes.
Great wine menu and helpful sommelier.
Positive:
Great food, looks amazing and outstanding taste
Nice touch by the chef to present a number of dishes.
Negatives:
Bread as a course
A Indian waiter with terrible BO
Fantastic birthday meal for my partner
Spectacular food, loved the open kitchen concept. It allowed me to watch how coordinated the team was while working to prepare a meal for us. Loved how the chefs took turns to come over and describe each course to us, i particularly enjoyed the moqueca, cheese and guava dish, and the sheepโs yogurt dessert. I actually did not enjoy the cachaca dessert with kaluga hybrid caviar as much as I thought I would, but everything else was flawless.
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch
Service was amazing, so friendly and informative. Lovely to see all the levels of staff being involved. Beautifully baked bread, not a fan of the bone marrow, personal preference, however.
I have given this 4* due to the desserts not on par with the savoury. With a constantly changing menu, Iโm 100% sure this would just be a view on the day, but thatโs how I found it on this occasion.
Perfection with a twist
The presentation is exceptional, but the thing that takes this restaurant to another level is the flavour variety and combinations.
The staff are superb at their craft and the food is sensational not only in presentation, but equally the flavours are superb!
The venue itself is in a very different building, an old town hall, and the walk to the toilets (beautifully clean) is a walk through history with superb renovations.
I wonโt list the foods as it changes every time.
An experience not to miss.
Stunning Cuisine, up there with the best of the best!
Perhaps you might not expect Bethnal Green to be a temple of culinary excellence but think "The Fat Duck", or L'Enclume and now you should be thinking about Da Terra.
We have had the pleasure of dining at three 3 star Michelin restaurants recently as well as some 2 stars and this is right up there with them.
Rafael Cagali and his team all have excellent pedigrees and this shows to the full. We went for lunch on Saturday and there was a choice of the "short menu" (7 courses), the long menu (10 courses) as well as the 5 course lunch menu. We chose the middle one.
The menu is a surprise and you are given a copy at the end of the meal but dietary issues can be taken care of provided they are notified up front. Some of the courses on the menu have a distinct South American theme delivered with real delicacy.
Da Terra is situated on a busy road (a short walk from Bethnal Green Tube) the restaurant occupying two rooms in the Town Hall Hotel. We were fortunate to be seated in the front room which is bright and airy and has the added bonus of a view of the final preparation area. Rafael himself oversees proceedings and even serves some of the dishes himself and discusses them with the diners.
As the menu is a surprise I will not reveal any of the details but needless to say there are other small courses to accompany the main ones. Portion sizes are just right for the number of courses and everything was a work of art on a plate with flavours to match.
Obviously with a wide range of flavours you are unlikely to like everything, there was just one very small part of a course that did not work for us, the rest was just magical.
The atmosphere is lovely and it was obvious this is a place for foodies to come and enjoy themselves. All the staff were friendly and engaging, we chose our own bottle of wine (rather than go with the wine pairing) and wine service was spot on, we asked sommelier Alvin to recommend a glass of red to go with the one meat course and he certainly knows his stuff.
This was as good a meal as we have had in recent times, obviously it is not cheap but worth every penny. Surely a third Michelin star beckons soon and we will certainly return.
Spectacular and humble
We went there for a special occasion. They greeted us with a nice card congratulating us. That was very kind. In general the Ambiente was very Personal. Not stiff at all. Everyone was extremely friendly and funny as well.
We felt very welcomed by everyone.
No to the food. One word only. Amazing!!! Not everything was to my liking but the attention to detail, the accuracy and most importantly the flavours were outstanding. I canโt remember how many courses we had but we had a lot.
I think for a 2 Michelin Star restaurant the prices were not too expensive. Well done guys!
