Daikaya (Ramen Shop 1st Floor/ Izakaya 2nd Floor) Washington Reviews from The Last Year
TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE: Having experienced quite a few ramen
TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE: Having experienced quite a few ramen shops in the DMV I feel comfortable giving this one a 3*. It is a good ramen experience however not one I'd consider in my top rankings. What I was disappointed by is the takeout ramen is not ready-to-eat and requires reheating since the broth is frozen and the noodles are par-cooked. I knew I was getting ramen that needed to be reheated, however, I didn't expect that the ramen wouldn't still taste like it was recently prepared. The broth from my Shoyu ramen didn't pack the level of flavor I expected from traditional shoyu broth. It seemed like "bottom of the pot" broth. However, the Fried Gyoza (deep fried dumplings with pork and chicken filling) was delicious despite it being a takeout order. Overall an OK experience and I'll consider dining-in the next time when I'm in the area. Give them a shot.
This was my first time visiting Daikaya after a friend
This was my first time visiting Daikaya after a friend recommended it to me. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, which I really liked, and was a bit spicier than I was expecting for ramen. The service was quick and friendly. The shop itself is bigger than I expected and I didn't have to wait for a table or anything. Odds are if you sit at one of the long tables, you will end up sitting with other people. I did really like that there were water pitchers readily available. This ramen was solid and I would visit here again!
My go to spot in DC whenever I'm craving ramen.
I usually get the spicy miso which is packed with flavor but the shio is also good albeit lighter. Since it's such a small spot with limited seating, the servers are really quick but not in a bad way. They have a seasonal cocktail which always hits. Great place to eat at when you're in Chinatown!
A small ramen restaurant located in Chinatown with a couple
A small ramen restaurant located in Chinatown with a couple of booth seating, two long tables with multiple stools, and high stools surrounding the small kitchen. However, some outdoor seatings are available too. There are 8 different ramen choices on the menu, and only 3 appetizers to choose from. I ordered the shio ramen with extra noodles, shoyu ramen with extra noodles, and fried gyoza. The ramens were on my table only 5mins after I ordered. The ramens' broths were delicious, and the ramen were cooked al-dente. The fried gyozas were ok. They tasted like they were from a big frozen packet. I would avoid coming here during peak hours as seats are limited. But the wait may be short as food is served pretty quickly. There is an automatic 3% surcharge on the bill which according to what they state in their menu, "... maintain employee benefits and keep menu prices consistent". Also stated on their menu, the charge could be removed upon request.
Got the tomato curry ramen and shoyu ramen.
Both were really bland unless you add a flavor topping. The tomato curry ramen didn't have any tomatoes and it also did not taste like it was cooked with any tomatoes. The curry flavor was good but it was still lacking a lot of flavor, it felt like I was drinking hot water with a lull hint of curry. The vegetables didn't help with anything because they were all flavorless. It was odd eating boiled brussels sprouts. You can get corn with extra charge but I feel like it should be a regular included topping. Unseasoned vegetables that are way overpriced for how much you get. Extra veg on the shoyu looked very similar to the amount of veg on the curry ramen, aside from the mount Everest of bean sprouts you get (unseasoned and bland, not charred like it advertises on the menu).
a small ramen spot in chinatown.
got the shoyu and it's decent for what the dmv offers. the place is small but there were still seats available during lunch time.

In January I was on a mission to try as many new restaurants that I heard about, seen, or smelled while walking through the streets of DC. I have a goal, go to every restaurant in DC, seems doable. (Optimistic at heart.) Ramen is my fave for the winter! I heard this place gets packed so I ventured out as soon as it opened! Score, no wait! This foodie loves herself a good Ramen! Service was awesome, sat at the island near the kitchen to watch the cooks. My food was good. Ramen is so filling that I had to take most of it home. Spring rolls were delicious! I definitely recommend this spot for all your ramen needs. Located across from Capital One Arena, this is a place to check out while in the area, before a game, or if you work on the hill like me! Super YUMMY! By the time I left, the place was packed and a line at the door was a telltale sign that this is the place to be!
Great ramen spot in DC! Small seating inside the store but
Great ramen spot in DC! Small seating inside the store but plenty outside. I recommend seating outside if you have plans to be places after your meal (cloth may smell food inside as its an open kitchen setting) Servers were nice, food was delivered pretty fast. The ramen noodles were spot on. The owner adds certain % to bill to help pay employees benefits. Lets not make this a thing please. (Note says they do remove the charge if asked. How about not add to begin with and take care of your employees).
Best ramen in DC in my opinion.
Variety of options. Small space that doesn't take reservations. Be prepared to wait (but it is worth it). Price is very reasonable and portions are filling.
Good food.
Long wait at times but worth it. I'll definitely go here again for a 4th time
Some of the best ramen in dc.
The wait goes quickly. Vegan friendly! Much better for small groups.

My favorite ramen to this day! Tried it first in 2019 and nothing has lived up to it ever since
Consistently fantastic food and service
We had not been to DC for 5 years, but we made a point to return to Daikaya. We were not disappointed! The menu was just as surprising as before, and everything we ordered was top-quality. It was a busy Saturday night after a Capitals game, but our outstanding server Laura made us feel completely at home, made some great suggestions, and really made us feel like regulars despite how long it had been since our last visit.
Cozy little place, amazing food.
Our group split dumplings and the ramen was delicious, good flavor and heat. Staff was friendly and helpful.
We were in the area to attend Awesome Con 2024.
Food courts at the event were packed. So we decided to try Daikaya Ramen as it was just 10 mins walk from the event. We got very lucky as they had a table for 4. I have heard that this place is usually packed. Very fortunate. As soon as we got seated, there was a decent line. Service was great. We had a couple of questions regarding their specials. Our waiter was very nice to explain the specials to us and also recommended some things to us. Most of us ordered the spicy miso. It's so good. I have never been able to complete a bowl of ramen, but I crushed this one. It was so delicious. Highly recommend this one. Not too spicy. Spice levels are 5/10. Price is nominal as well. Similar pricing to other ramen places. Ambiance is cool. It's a small place. They have a combination of booths, standing and rotating seats. I will definitely go back again.
This is my favorite ramen I've found in the DMV.
I've tried several different types of their ramen and has loved each one. I love their spice bomb! Even though they don't have reservations, the wait is never very long. It's not a place to just sit and hang out. No frills and family style seating.
Okay ramen a little pricey.
I had okay service they did not really check up on you. They can't really seat larger parties of 4. I was in a group of 5 and I had to sit in the edge. When we were heading out and we paid the lady chased us out saying why we left a small tip. Keep in mind they automatically charge you extra to help with cost of living. I was extremely disappointed and taken back when she got mad that we did not tip extra. I am extremely confused on why she would even go out of her way to run after us.
I must say this is some of the best Ramen I've ever eaten,
I must say this is some of the best Ramen I've ever eaten, although the restaurant is the size of a closet the food is worth, squeezing in for
I loved Daikaya years ago when I lived in the city.
This time however - the soup was bland. Noodles and toppings were okay. I left most of the meat untouched. The skill and care that went into each bowl just isn't there. At this price point, I expected better.

Stubbled across thos after my movie got canceled across the street. Great drinks and skewer up stairs and Ramen downstairs. A Gem
Twenty minute wait, but food was amazing and atmosphere
Twenty minute wait, but food was amazing and atmosphere aesthetically pleasing. The room was a little bit loud but overall good experience. 10/10 recommend.
Good slurping
Arriving a midweek evening about 6:30pm, the place was packed. Put my name down for the waitlist, it was about a half hour wait to dine at the communal table. We ordered the mugi-miso and shoyu ramen. Wish they would give both halves of the egg for the shoyu ramen!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
