Food: okayService: goodI put my name on the list here after many raving reviews from other people promoting this as the best ramen spot in DC and one of the best in the country. The staff here was so wonderful and friendly and I like their ambiance. We waited about 35 minutes for a table for 4, on a sunny Saturday spring morning.I had their seasonal ChiuHai cocktail and it was delicious. Bright and crisp and good on a nice day. I got their spicy miso ramen and it unfortunately was just okay in my opinion. The pork chasu slices were small, which were offset with ground pork that didn't taste fresh. It also had very little spice, which was disappointing for a spicy miso. I do recommend adding veggies, at minimum corn, because other than excessive sprouts there weren't other veggies. Noodles were great though - wish I had ordered extras.

Google told me to go to Daikaya to have very authentic Japanese ramen in DC. I arrived around noon on Monday, April 4th. People were waiting. I was solo, then found a counter seat. The menu made me feel like inflation. The ramen noodles were around $16.5! I was from Texas. Everything was expensive here in the Capital. The mugi- miso noodles were so authentic. I loved it. If you are going to visit here with your friends, you might wait. But it is definitely worth waiting if you want to try authentic Japanese noodles.

We saved it for our last full day here and it was well worth the wait. We came before the dinner rush and were seated and served very fast. Service was really friendly with a couple employees checking in on us. I don't eat pork so it's challenging with ramen; but I love ramen. To the veggie ramen I go and this is one of the best versions I've had. The broth was packed with flavor and the toppings were unique and delicious. Two kinds of seaweed, carrots, Brussel sprouts, bean sprouts and snow peas. I added in an egg and the veggie spice bomb. I slurped down just about all of it until I felt I would burst and sadly had to make the tough decision to leave a little in the bowl.

In short, it's probably not worth the wait to come here.

The charred/grilled flavor of my shoyu ramen was overpowering the rest of the bowl. I only had one piece of chasu and maybe another quarter of one disintegrated into various pieces in the bowl (it looks like it should come with two). So if you're a meat lover and still want to come here, I'd advise adding getting extra chasu or getting the gyoza (which were good).Otherwise, the service was fast and the casual seating arrangement was fun.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday! They don't take reservations, so we ended up waiting around an hour to get seated. The restaurant has limited seating inside, with a mixture of booths and communal tables, and has a few outdoor tables. I ordered the Veggie Ramen with the Veggie Spice Bomb as an extra topping. Unfortunately, I was pretty underwhelmed by this ramen. The noodles were great and I liked the vegetables, but the dish overall was pretty bland. It's clear that if I didn't pay extra for the Veggie Spice Bomb, the broth would've had no flavor. Even with the extra topping, the broth wasn't very flavorful or spicy. Our waiter also brought us sesame chili oil to top our ramen, but that only slightly helped. I had high hopes since I've heard really great reviews of this place, but it's disappointing that I've received yet another bland vegan ramen. Service was pretty fast and we got our food within 10 minutes, but I don't think this place is worth the price or the hype.

I moved away from DC five years ago and have never found veggie/vegan ramen as good as the Daikaya ramen. Today I finally got to eat it again, and it was just as good as I remember. Rich, loaded with noodles and vegetables, and HUGE. You will never leave Daikaya hungry! The interior is also charming; bustling, with the feeling of a busy noodle bar as you sit at a long wooden table, but never too loud or cramped. Honestly one of the best places in DC!

I had been walking by this place for a while and it was always busy. I finally stopped off and it was worth it. The ramen was delicious and they had some options for broth and toppings.

The restaurant is very small but the atmosphere is nice and they do have outdoor seating as well. Only issue is during winter, sitting outside is a little chilly, even with hot ramen.

Pricing is pretty decent, and you get a good amount of food for what you pay.

From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

It's fine if the sellers are just individuals that can't use the reservation. But just curious: 1. What's preventing people from creating lots of email accounts and write a script to book all the reservations FOR FREE then resale it here? 2. Since restaurants can be partners, can they benefit from the bidding? If so wouldn't this just be ridiculous? So a restaurant can sell reservations just like selling a ticket? And customers not only need to pay for the reservation also need to pay for the meal?

Once you place your bid, all sellers with a connection to the venue will start to work on fulfilling your desired time and date of the reservation. This process can be instant or may take a few days as most locations are either fully booked or hard to get! Stay tuned!

Best Answer Hey @HolisticQuestion30, whenever a bid expires, can't be filled or is cancelled by you, your funds are deposited in your AppointmentTrader Main Account in real time so you can use them for another bid instantly and don't have to carry multiple authorizations on your credit card for a number of days. You can access the funds with the credit card number that is shown next to your main account (labeled 'Show Card Number'). The real-time access is also true for any funds you earn from selling or reselling a reservation. You can use this card-number at any place online that accepts credit cards. (Currently limited to USD, multi currency support is planned.) AT is currently working on implementing a push-to-debit function, if you would like funds sent to your bank account before this feature is live, please email support [AT] appointmenttrader.com The team is usually very responsive and happy to assist with bridging any tech gap with their service :-)
