Daniel New York Reviews from The Last Year
once in a lifetime experience for us
It was a great honor to spend an evening here with my son. It was his first experience at a world class restaurant. We live in New Zealand so are not use to the quality of food and service offered . What made the evening so special was the exceptional service provided by the staff especially Jonathan. He made us feel so welcome .We have created a lifelong memory and would love to return one day.
I ordered the four course tasting dinner.
It was not like French food more like different experimental food. Everything was great. Amongst the best meals I have ever had.
Daniel, our New York favorite.
New year eve 2018, our last dinner at Daniel. So high time to go back! It was as wonderful as then and before, great food, great service, great wines. Yes, it is expensive, but worth it.
Everyone was so nice and caring!! Clean facilities and
Everyone was so nice and caring!! Clean facilities and great relaxing vibe. The food was exceptional; highly recommend the cherry and abalone!!
What an incredible dining experience, second to none.
The 5 course menu was exceptional and only eclipsed by the setting and experienced and caring waitstaff.
One of the best restaurants in the whole world.
The service, the food, the ambience, the other diners --- all make this restaurant Heaven on Earth!
Gastronomic Nirvana is at 60 E 65th street! Daniel Boulud's
Gastronomic Nirvana is at 60 E 65th street! Daniel Boulud's flagship will take you on an absolutely sublime culinary journey, second to none. I had dined here before, for an intimate dinner for two, however this time we were a party of 13 with one of our cherished clients. All I can say is Daniel delivered as you would expect, superlative service, dishes where the ingredients harmoniously blended where each dish was equivalent to the next in unforgettable taste and presentation. Each featured on custom selected China and vehicles that tied to the dish in thematic balance. Our courses were bookended with an amuse bouche that was unexpected in its sheer depth and variety and finished with an assortment of unique chocolates and truffles along with a bag of petit beignets and lastly a beautifully packaged Cannelle for the road. Service was synchronized, warm, attentive to each individual's need without being encroaching a true waltz and never a prolonged wait between courses. Our sommelier was spectacular! Do be sure to adhere to the dress code as it is taken extremely seriously as we learned when one of our party members arrived in her designer sandals by mistake and was addressed by the hostess upon arrival and again at departure (a bit much). Nonetheless, Two words: Simply Outstanding!
I suspect all future fancy restaurants will now be held to
I suspect all future fancy restaurants will now be held to a higher standard. More than a meal, it was an experience with perfection in food, service, presentation and ambiance. A memorable celebration of my son and his girlfriend's engagement. Thanks!
Wait service, fromager, all excellent.
Food nuanced and well-conceived. Very expensive wine list lacking in interesting thought in the $200 to $500 range--to get anything decent you have spend $800. That's just not right. Then, you look around the room and realize this is all about the out-of-towners, and you get it. Good for the economy, but not a repeat for the locals.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had.
Daniel's has long been one of the best restaurants in New York and the United States. From the service to the food itself, it is no exaggeration to say that this restaurant has done everything to perfection. You can only come to the restaurant to spend money and you are guaranteed to be served amazing food.
My wife and I were happy to return to Daniel for the Spring
My wife and I were happy to return to Daniel for the Spring menu. On this visit we were seated in the upper lounge - a quieter, smaller spot overlooking the bar. The lounge provides a comfortable spot that affords more privacy and easier conversation. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, the lounge was perfect. Also perfect was the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable service provided by Pascal and Serenity - both of whom enhanced the experience with their clear focus on our comfort and enjoyment. Kudos to Pascal and Serenity. A nice touch was the visits we received from some of our past servers just to say hello. Every element of Daniel is designed to make us feel at home, as we are among friends who offer a great experience. Few restaurants in NY offer this level of doubting our comfort. While sitting in the lounge offers one the opportunity for ordering alle carte, we opted to explore the 5-course tasting menu. My wife added a sixth - the outstanding duck consume. Starting with beautifully prepared amuse bouche of little delicious canapés, each a work of art. With each successive dish our amazement at the beauty of the preparation and the perfection of the preparation increased. We very much look forward to returning. Thank you Pascal and Serenity and Chef Boulud for another beautiful experience.
The melt in your mouth, plating, ambiance was superb.
There's a reason why this restaurant is still going strong after so many years. It's one of those places you keep going back to and getting the same experience (in a good way) and you never feel bad about how much you paid!
No Longer What It Once Was
Our first visit to Daniel was in 2010. At that time it was probably the best dining experience we had ever experienced with excellent food, exceptional service, and a decor/ambiance that was classic but not stuffy. We returned this past January to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Sadly, our experience was vastly different. The food was honestly forgettable. The service was not great (I should not have to ask multiple times to refill my water glass as an example). And the ambiance was off-putting with garish paintings and carpets that in places were threadbare. Having dined at several Michelin star restaurants over the years I don't understand how Daniel has maintained 2 stars based upon our experience.
Excellent
Just what you would have expected. Food and service were just excellent. The main courses were great but the desert was mouth watering and just fantastic
Absolutely Magical Experience
The team at Daniel's truly created a sensational experience for us. The team made us feel like we were the only people that mattered, and we have been to plenty of Michelin Starred restaurants. Their ability to create a magnificent culinary adventure that show cases why they are one of the best restaurants in the world and client centric end to end experience beyond even the best out there was magical. The environment was elegant but comfortable in every way. Whether you're here for an evening meal or celebrating with others, Daniel's will exceed any expectations and even set new standards to what it means to be the best. Thank you, Pascal (I hope I spelled your name right) and your team for serving us with excellence.
Best meal of my life
Nothing short of spectacular I eat out in a lot of high end places globally but this place is my number 1 a really expensive but worth every penny experience.stand out dish was the foie or Maby the veal with broccoli and blue cheese I don’t know but amazing
Special meal at Daniel
The food and ambiance are excellent. Waiters/staff also very helpful and attentive. Price fix menu only option but good choices and we were given multiple dessert items to top off a wonderful meal and experience
Wonderful meal
Another wonderful spot by Daniel Boulid. Can’t go wrong with his establishments. The food was wonderful. The drinks were wonderful.
Great meal
Daniel is a great restaurant in New York City. The food and drinks are tasty. Everything was delicious. Great team who are professionals.
I expected more, but not bad
I’ll start off by saying that while I don’t consider myself some frasieresque elitist who eats at places like this regularly I do have more than plentiful experience eating at a relatively wide variety of highly acclaimed restaurants both in and out of the US (although NYC is a focus point) which I believe would develop in anyone a perspective through which a restaurant like this can be judged. All this isn’t to say it’s a bad place to have dinner; the service was just the right level of attentive and the dining room was elegant while not drawing attention away from the other people at your table. My main issue is with the food itself… I had come here, in part, to impress my companion, but mostly to satisfy my desire to eat here considering the reputation. When you mention eating at Restaurant Daniel in an off-handed manner I’ve found many people both immediately recognize the place and express incredulity at such a prodigal exercise. Needless to say, I had waited for a good time to go for some time. Needless to say, I went in with high expectations. It was in that vain I got the seven course tasting menu. I found the start to be interesting, essentially three mini dishes which felt like a three course meal being served to a fairy tale giant. This was again followed with an interesting foie gras spread which my companion expressed to my agreement had an almost chocolate quality. At this point I am more than satisfied with the meal thus far and somewhat excited to see what comes next presuming the same uniqueness and quality of the first two dishes. Needless to say, I was sorely mistaken. After this my memory is foggy, as some of the dishes seem to just blend together in my memory on account of their frankly bland experience. There was essentially some fish and seaweed with drops of sauce, white truffle drizzled in a white truffle soup with dots of black truffle, another fish thing, bison (which was tasty but was small and the only meat course), and a couple more dishes. This fog isn’t because I wasn’t paying attention, I could describe every course I’d had at Gabriel Kreuther more than a year ago in excruciating detail, but because so many of the courses were uninventive and frankly boring considering the price. Even dessert seemed a bit off, it had a white outer coating and a chocolaty inside that somehow was less bold than the chocolate undertones of the foie gras. The coffee was great though! None of this is to say I disliked the food, but it seems to me like fine dining at its worst. portions so small I got a lobster roll and grand central terminal for the ride back, flavors so subtle they seem almost afraid to make a serious impression, and this je ne sais quois, which felt almost pretentious at times (my companion and I were definitely sure some of the staff were putting on fake French accents) I’ve mostly focused on the negatives, but given the price I think that much is fair. I’d still like to make clear that I didn’t dislike my experience, but the opposite of love is apathy, right?
Great culinary experience!
We LOVED Daniel! Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and expertly executed, showcasing the chef's dedication to quality and innovation. Dining at Daniel was truly a highlight of our culinary trip!
This upper east side institution was one of the original
This upper east side institution was one of the original New York City culinary renaissance stars. And it feels a bit like a blast from the past. The grand space is sprawling. A team of staff focuses on your every need. They are all extremely friendly and hospitable. Sadly the pace of the meal is a bit slow so at times they are left standing around. I will say 188 for 4 course at a 2 star Michelin Icon is reasonable. And you will leave feeling full. The food feels a bit dated. And the dishes are hit and miss. But that is a matter of taste. The meal started with a trio of leeks (very good). The spot prawn was a bit anemic. And the oyster dish didn't feel balanced (overly bitter) I enjoyed the bass. The lentils were perfectly cooked. But the bay scallops was a miss. The best dish was the perfectly cooked risotto with a hefty portion of black truffle. The mains were both ok but not amazing. The veal was overwhelmed by the cheese sauce. Finally the quail was solid. The deserts were fantastic and the drink menu is a hit. If you love classic Michelin style fare Danial is a must visit.
Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here and I couldn't be
Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Made a reservation for 6 pm and arrived to a stunning restaurant with a comfortable table with a great view. It was wonderful before the food even arrived! Service was on another level as expected and cannot think of anything other than positive things to say! Food was delicious and such an amazing experience. The unexpected cheese course was such a great addition! Dessert was by far the best thing I've ever had with the Pettit fours and the freshly baked madeleines and the chocolate batons and to go caneles ! Just wow! The cherry on top was the personalized to go menus of our meal. Just wonderful! Also - the cocktails alone are worth a trip to this restaurant! The food is an experience I would love to have again and hope to! The service is exceptional too!
Friendly and welcoming staff, a nicely laid out restaurant
Friendly and welcoming staff, a nicely laid out restaurant and fantastic food. For any other restaurant, any of these factors would be a nice bonus but, for Daniel's reputation these factors were expected and they did not miss the mark. Each dish was fantastic and explained in depth as it was served. The wait staff were highly knowledgeable about the meal options and beverage pairings. What really set Daniel apart though, was the experience that the staff created. The presentation of each dish was carefully laid out and presented in an almost choreographed way. Additionally, their attention to detail was almost predictive of our needs. I have never had a dining experience like my experience at Daniel. I highly recommend visiting Daniel especially if you are trying to make an evening, "a night to remember".
I will definitely come again, whether it's for the service
I will definitely come again, whether it's for the service or the food, it's top-notch New York quality. My friends and I were late due to traffic, but they didn't cancel our reservation because of it. Unfortunately, we ended up sitting in the lounge later, but the experience was still excellent.
Service and ambiance were on point in my opinion.
The culinary experience was however not all hits and I found it to be a cumulative 3 stars for me. For example, I really enjoyed the parsnip-celeriac veloute, but found their rendition of foie gras gelatinous and unimpressive. Furthermore, the bison seemed to have been sitting under a lamp for too long and was cooked more than medium. I felt the remaining dishes were well executed.
This is truly one of the best Michelin star restaurants in
This is truly one of the best Michelin star restaurants in NY! From the moment we walked in, we were treated with so much respect. The waiting area and the dining room were very fancy appearing. The food was probably the best I've had from all the Michelin star restaurants! Aside from the amazing variety of blended flavors, the amount of food is what really impressed me. There were what felt like 10+ course and each course had solid material like steak, fish, foie gras, etc. By the end of the meal, I was stuffed!! Felt like a it was really worth the money. The restaurant was spacious and quiet, so we could enjoy the meal as a family. Daniel Bullard himself came to the dining room at the end of the meal and we took a picture with him! Very friendly guy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
My least favorite Michelin dinner.
Payola? 2 Michelin stars is excessive. Nothing felt inventive or even interesting. Judging by the majority of the crowd; stuffy, 70+ year olds, I just knew dinner would be underwhelming. My favorite bite of the night was the bread service. Thank you to the waiter who kept refreshing my plate. I would've left starved otherwise. We chose to do 4 courses versus 7 as the longer menu just wasn't anything we were interested in eating. Although I still ended up disliking 3/4 dishes I chose, I would scream if I had to sit for more courses. Adhd and a meal you don't enjoy is a painful combination. What I did enjoy was the service. Everyone was welcoming and attentive. I also enjoyed the dessert course and the fresh madeleines. However you don't pay $700+ on dinner just for dessert.
Unsurpassed dining experience
Daniel keeps getting better. It has been a while since I came and this time I felt that they are at their peak. We had a short timeline of only 1.5 hours but managed to fit in a perfect 4-course meal. Each dish was beautifully served and delicious as well as unique. I kept repeating, " I am so happy". I eat out quite a bit and this meal is my favorite for 2024 yet!
It is the epitome of a luxurious special occasion
It is the epitome of a luxurious special occasion restaurant that has been in business since 1987. Created by renowned chef, Daniel Boloud. The menus are tasting menus (dégustation )of 4 to 6 courses with a sublime wine list and sublime service. The service is very theatrical and the surroundings of fine art paintings by renowned artist. Alex Katz helps with the ambience of the setting and dining room. This is not your normal restaurant it is a special occasion restaurant
Loveeee
The ambience was just perfect.. The food and it's quality was simply amazing.. The staff is very nice all in all very good experience it was!!
It really is a great choice for celebration dining.
We had the four course meal, but it ended up being so much more - there were three more sweet offerings after our 4th course desert. I was afraid of getting more food in the end! They gifted us couple of little rum cake bites to go which I didn't have the stomach to eat until the next day. It was just a delightful experience that lingered and echoed in the little rum cake bites I scoffed down a day later - yes, it was still delicious.
Disappointed
I was there in September. The service was very good but I was very disappointed in my food. The pork was very dry. I have dined at very fine Michelin star restaurants elsewhere and Daniel was not on par with those sadly.
Extraordinary
One of the best culinary experiences we’ve had in a long time. The food was extraordinary and the service was top notch. We savored every course. And they did a lovely job celebrating my mom’s 85th birthday (we indicated on ressy and didn’t remind them) and made her feel so special. It was a beautiful experience all around and I highly recommend. Look forward to going back.
Doesn't disappoint, only maybe during COVID.
Love the food, the atmosphere, the location. Service is impeccable as it should be. Perfect date night.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
