Very EXCELLENT.
.. the menu has a a little of EVERYTHING. Itc was all skillfully prepared and tasted SUPER FRESH...
Be the first to ReplyDanji is a very quant, intimate spot for Korean food.
I enjoyed the fried tofu and bibimbap without meat. I like that they feature which dishes can be gluten free or vegetarian options. This is a small space so seating is close. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was fresh and flavorful.

Cozy space and very intimate for a date night! We sat at the bar because they had reservations for the other tables, but the bartender was friendly and attentive since it was a small space. The noodles were solid and the chicken was nice and crispy. The drinks were my fav!

The food was fairly tasty but overall felt everything very overpriced for what it was. Can get better korean food in ktown for a fraction of the price. Expected more fusion/ creativity.Best dish out of what we ordered was the bulgogi sliders

Wow wow wow, if you want delicious Korean food please come here! We ordered a ton of dishes and EVERYTHING was delicious. Black bean noodles were good, veggie dumplings and shrimp scallion pancake were very good, and soy garlic wings, bulgogi sliders, and bibimbap were exquisite. Highly recommend and looking forward to my next visit.

Wow! -Yellowtail sashimi: classic and satisfying 7/10-Pork belly: 10/10 MUST ORDER. Was perfectly cooked-Kimchi fried rice: 8/10 the egg was perfectly creamy. Menu on the smaller end but all the items I tried were so delicious. Service was quick. A little bit of a walk from the subway but def worth it.
Be the first to ReplyFood was excellent.
I just wish there was less sauce in spicy chicken. as its taking away the flavor portion from the chicken. Itself. Fast service! The place is a little too warm my liking as far as ambience. But I guess that's how they like it.

Came here for dinner at 7:30 on a Wednesday night (friend was able to get a reservation). Inside is small but cozy and chic. Service is nice - waitress was really nice and helped recommend a few of her favorites and also gave us a ice cream on the house at the end :) Spicy Chicken Wings- 4/5 - solid, crispy, really good when they came out hot! Spicy but not too much heat and still a little bit of sweetness. Also side pickled radishes are great for offsetting the heat Bulgogi Bimbambap -5/5 : favorite dish of the night! Rice was very crispy from the hot plate, and the bulgogi was flavorful, veggies were great too. Plenty for 2 to share too.Black Bean Fish - 4/5 - definitely not something I've had at other places. Fish was fresh and overall tasted good! Nice to have rather than a must order kind of dish in my opinion! Would come again!!

Three days a week I walk past here and everytime I say "I need to check this place out". Finally I followed through and was very happy. I came with 2 other foodies and we got the prefix tasting menu. To say it was filling is an under statement... filling, delicious, and reasonably priced. I'm not sure many restaurants can check all of those boxes. Items that came I'm the 3 person tasting menu: Wild yellowtail sashimi x6: light and refreshing appetizer to start with - makes you believe you will get great food (true) but leave the restaurant not to stuffed (not true)Tofu with ginger scallion dressing x6: medium lightness, but makes you realize you might have made a mistake thinking you wouldn't leave super full.. tofu was soft and delicious with the toppings. Some sort of pork belly with a radish wrapper x6 (didn't eat this, but other parties confirmed its deliciousness)Chicken wings x6+ believe these were soy-honey glased as opposed to spicy. They were a little slippery and a lot messy. Probably my least favorite of the tasting menu, but was prepared nicely and the sauce was goodBulgogi beef sliders x3: was like pulled beef on a tiny bun with pickles and scallions. Was really great, but starting to get full... MAINS: came with rice and a bunch of their sidesBlack cod: probably my favorite item of the night. I was already full at this point so this was light and delicious and perfectly cooked with a sweet soy sauce which made eme very happyShort rib: fall off the bone delicious and juicy. It was more than enough for 3 people after all the prior items. I wish I wasn't so full to enjoy more of it. We ended up taking most of this home to reheat the next day. Dessert:Three different types of ice creams (in order of preference).Green tea: my favorite and was a nice ending for the meal. Smooth and Tasted Mochi-like Sesame: tasted peanut butter-y and was really different than what I am used to. Still yumProcesseco sorbet: weirdly this tasted exactly like processco but in a good way. I don't love sorbet hence why this was my least favorite but it was still good. Very very different than what I am used to though. Tldr: delicious, reasonably priced, would definitely come back here for tasting menu or a la cart.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our first time at Danji and loved it.
The service was fantastic, very attentive and well paced. We did the tasting menu, and loved it all. The pork belly was melt in your mouth, and as someone who doesn't normally enjoy tofu this changed my mind. Would definitely go back!
Be the first to ReplyMade a reservation for 2 here for my friends bday.
The place is pretty small but it's not too busy during a Tuesday. The menus are found underneath the drawers of the tables. The bibimbap and the yellowtail sashimi were really good and would recommend! The kimichi fried rice was alright, but it was a bit unexpected as it didn't have much of a kimichi taste at all as I would have liked
Be the first to ReplyI came here for summer restaurant week summer and thought
I came here for summer restaurant week summer and thought it was a good deal given the regular menu prices. That being said, the regular menu prices are pretty absurd -- $54 for a small piece of short rib with unseasoned vegetables?? $26 for a tiny scallion pancake?? I'm all for smaller portions if the flavor delivers, but Danji lacks that extra oomph to justify its price point. Our server was also pretty rude and bluntly told us to leave because another party was waiting for our table. There was no one waiting, and there were other tables open. I understand if there's a 90 minute limit at the table (which I was not aware of), but there are certainly more courteous ways to ask patrons to leave. There are much better options for Korean food, so while my meal was overall good, this place is a skip for me.
Be the first to ReplyAll around outstanding.
Modern and innovative Korean served family style. Get the tasting menu so you can share and try most of the dishes on the menu. We sat in one of the outdoor cabins which was well ventilated and covid safe. All dishes were well done but we especially enjoyed the KFC- Korean Fried Chicken! Make sure to try some soju too!
Be the first to ReplyWent to Danji with friends on Tuesday evening.
Tried most of the menu and find very few reasons to complain, as the dishes were tasty and inventive and the service was great.Quality: With our group I got to try a large portion of the menu and I felt it was consistent and delicious. The highlights for me were the Fried Tofu, so tender and flavorful, the Spicy Chicken Wings, and the fantastic Bulgogi Beef Sliders. The Shrimp & Scallion Pancake was the weakest of the appetizers, but still good. Both the Sizzling Wet Kimchi Fried Rice and the Fresh Noodles In Black Bean Sauce were solid mains, but the Sizzling Bulgogi Bibimbap was the highlight. I did not order it, but had a bite of the Braised Black Angus Short Rib, which I believe was the odd man out of the dishes. It did not seem to fit the flavor profile of the restaurant and would be the only dish I would not get again.Quantity: Large portions for all the dishes I tried. Value: $23 for Spicy Chicken Wings. $23 for Fresh Noodles In Black Bean Sauce. $26 for Sizzling Wet Kimchi Fried Rice. $60 for the Restaurant Week Three-Course Prix Fixe.Ambiance: Danji is located in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan. The restaurant is a on quiet street. They have an outdoor dining structure as well as a few tables outside. Inside they have a bar at the front, two long high-tops and then some tables in the back. The tables have drawers with the menus, which was a unique touch, and spoons can be found everywhere as decor. The music was an excellent selection of relaxed dance music.Crowd: Reservations are recommended, but not necessary on a weeknight.Service: Friendly service, even with the tight space to operate.Parking: Relatively easy street parking.

The restaurant itself was smaller, so you should probably make reservations if you have a larger party. I went in the early evening and was able to get a seat at the bar. I ordered the Sizzling "wet" Kimchi Fried Rice with Bacon and a cocktail and a spicy ginger margarita. The margarita was equally spicy and refreshing. The Kimchi fried rice was delicious and packed with flavor. I especially loved the little crispy bits you could get from the sizzling plate. Service was great and food was amazing, 10/10 would recommend.

If I could give the service at Danji more than 5 stars, I would. They went above and beyond for our group of 4 last night. We booked an indoor table and unfortunately they weren't able to accommodate us at first, we got to sit at the bar eventually and bought us our first round and even some appetizers to make up for it. We got most of the menu, bulgogi sliders, shashimi, shrimp scallion pancake, wings, fried rice, everything was SO good! The food was amazing, the ambience was great but the staff there is the best!
Be the first to ReplyWe were jonesing for some Korean and Danji delivered.
Everything that graced my chopsticks was banging! We had Yellowtail Sashimi & bulgogi sliders to start. Cod and braised beef rib with rice and banchan for our main. Green tea and black sess sorbet to cap it off. The cod, dare I say, was better than Nobu's. Only regret is not trying the Korean spirits. We were drinking G&T's which was hilarious, but what can you do, it was 90 degrees out. I'm jonesing for some more Danji just thinking about this meal.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good, disappointing service, drinks were fine.
Covid safety: there are individual outdoor booths, each with an air conditioner and fan. 100% of staff not masked.

We'd been meaning to try Danji for years and finally made it out for dinner. It was worth the wait!I'll start with the food. Rather than doing the set menu, we went with a mix of dishes. The standouts were (1) the yellowtail sashimi (5 slices, comes with a nice salad, not too spicy) and (2) the bulgogi sliders (incredible flavor--highlight of the evening). Also good, but not quite as stellar, were the wings (tangy and again not too spicy) and the scallion pancake (it's more like tempura veggies and doesn't have the smoothest texture, but the sauce is great). The only one I'd avoid getting again would be the bimimbap, which wasn't super flavorful compared to the other dishes. (Also, definitely get the kimchi on the side; it's great.)As for seating, we took one of their "outdoor booths," which is basically a private dining room on the sidewalk. It was very nice and the service was fast overall. Definitely worth a visit!

I only really go places in the states that are organic and local, and this place lists all their purveyors and has vegan options. I came here for Father's Day dinner and my parents did not want to get the tasting menu because they thought it was too expensive (classic Asian parents) however after ordering couple things to share we actually spent the same money so do yourself a favor and get the damn tasting menu you won't regret it. We got Bibimbap, the Miso Cod, and the Kimchi Rice, as well as Rice Cakes and Chicken Wings. Portions are decent sized, they have outdoor seating since it's a small place. This place is also recommended in Michelin Guide- why I chose it. Side note- the Miso Cod was superrrrrr salty. They said on their menu they avoid ingredients with MSG, however Asian sauces such as gochujang and black bean paste already have MSG in them, unless they are making their own, it's unavoidable. Decent food, nice atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyDanji is a great Korean tapas spot in Hells Kitchen.
It's a good choice if your in the Restaurant row area and are looking for some solid Korean food that is reasonably priced. We recently went for the first time and had;Bulgogi Beef Sliders - these were great, the bulgogi was delicious.Shrimp & Scallion Pancake - this was my favorite dish of the night, perfectly fried and not greasy. The shrimp was fresh and tasted great.Sizzling Kimchi Fried Rice w/Bacon - a bit too spicy for my liking but still a good dish.Sizzling Bulgogi Bibimbap - like the Bulgogi sliders this was a great dish. Danji really does Bulgogi very well.

This review is strictly based on their tasting menu: My friends and I (group of 4) got a tasting menu for 4 and it was honestly the best Korean food I've had in NYC so far, considering the portion, pricing, and variety of food. It's a modern twist on Korean cuisine yet it still preserves the traditional Korean food flavors. Nothing too extravagant or too fusion either, which I really liked. I especially liked their short rib and black code, which were the mains of the tasting menu. It was SO flavorful and absolutely delicious. I also loved their black sesame and coconut ice cream which were not too sweet but packed with flavors. Even if you are not getting the tasting menu, I highly recommend trying the ice cream from their dessert section!

Came here on Sunday for dinner and got one of the outdoor tables which was actually great because I felt we had more space and it was quieter to talk!We started with some blackberry soju for the table which was delicious. For appetizers, we got the spicy chicken wings, bulgogi sliders, shrimp and scallion pancake and veggie dumplings. Everything tasted good but the wings and shrimp and scallion pancakes were the stars of the show. Next up we got bulgogi bibimbap and sizzling wet kimchi fried rice. I don't eat red meat but everyone else loved the kimchi fried rice. One of our soju glasses spilled while getting the food and they brought us 2 glasses of sake (with a heavy pour!) which was so nice! Really enjoyed the food and service here, will def return!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is awesome! It is a Korean small plates
This place is awesome! It is a Korean small plates restaurant. We went before a broadway show (Company), so we made an early reservation (5:45) as we knew wanted the tasting menu. They have some community table inside, so be prepared if you are attempting to social distance. We opted for seats at the bar and they were very accommodating. The bartender was very friendly! We opted for two cocktails. I wish I could remember the names as they were both great. Mine was whiskey based and my dates was vodka based.Everything on the tasting menu was delicious. We started with yellow tail sashimi, which was super fresh. Then we had a crispy tofu with ginger dressing. It was crispy on the outside which was very nice. The flavor was right in too. Then we moved into the shrimp and scallion pancake. Idk what the dipping sauce was but it complemented the pancake perfectly. The KFC spicy wings were not too spicy for me. They had a great flavor and a nice breading. The beef bulgogi slider was TO DIE FOR! I could have just had them and been satisfied. However, the soy poached black cod was super surprising, as I don't really enjoy cooked fish too much, but this was deeeelicious! The black sesame ice cream was a perfect ended.Would love to go back to this place and will certainly recommend it to anyone!
Be the first to ReplyAlways have to participate in restaurant week and this
Always have to participate in restaurant week and this time, my friends picked DANJI. The inside is REALLY small so not necessarily ideal for large parties but there's enough room so you're not cramped/on top of one another. Since we came for restaurant week, we got three courses. For drinks, we got the black raspberry soju from their cocktail menu. I'm not a huge fan of soju but this one made me change my mind. I started with the wild yellowtail sashimi which was really really good. The fish was super fresh and was on top of a srichaha-like sauce which added a nice kick. My friend got the shrimp and scallion pancake which we bought thought was just okay. For my entree I got the veggie bibimbap & thought it was pretty bland. I know bibimbaps are pretty much just rice bowls but even with the gochujang sauce and fix-ins, the dish could've still used some salt. My friend got the short rib which she kept raving about so it must've been good. For the last course, we got a coconut ice cream and a sesame ice cream. If you're a big dessert person, i would recommend going for the coconut one over the sesame -- it tasted like crackers.
