Subject: UnGift Card Limitations – Seeking Resolution
My husband received a generous $300 worth of Desi Vega gift cards as a gesture of appreciation for covering an on-call shift. Excitedly, we decided to use these gift cards to celebrate our 11-year anniversary at your restaurant.working as an attorney, we used to receive many Ruth’s steak house gift cards but with recent merger we started to desi Vega. To our dismay, when attempting to use the gift cards, we discovered they were only valid for the Metairie location. This was unexpected, as we had assumed Desi Vega's was a restaurant chain with transferable gift cards. The restriction felt like a slap in the face, and we find it unacceptable that such limitations were not communicated clearly when the gift cards were given. If Desi Vega's gift cards are location-specific, it might be helpful to update the branding to avoid potential confusion. While I understand policies vary, I believe clear communication regarding gift card restrictions is crucial for a positive customer experience. I hope this feedback can contribute to an improved process. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We have always enjoyed our experiences at Desi Vega's, and it is my sincere hope that this situation can be addressed. Don’t waste your time on this restaurant and especially don’t give gift cards to others since they have limited use. I am left with $300 worth of gift cards after having to spend $290 with tip. I’ve been to the Metairie location and they should shut it down it’s a dudgeon. If your gift cards are non transferable change your name!!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
We had such a great experience this summer that we really talked up the service and food to our very good friend. It took 30 minutes to get wine, an additional 20 to get mixed drinks and at that point we ordered appetizers with our entrees as to we were attending a play. Our appetizers were very good, our steaks not so much. All of us ordered medium rare, the picture below is my mediocre medium steak. Our friend sent his filet back because it was blue, a male came up and argued with him that it was cooked as requested, mind you our friend is a Chef. It was so disappointing and a let down for a $1,200 dollar meal.
Be the first to ReplyBusiness attire on a Saturday? No thank you.
Restaurants provide 2 things: food, and ambience. This review is about ambience. The whole point in dining out is it is a relaxing and enjoyable experience, it takes the weight of cooking (and washing up) off the diner's shoulders and, hopefully, does things with the food that the diner never could themselves. Having a dress code is the antithesis of creating enjoyment. I booked to eat here on a Saturday, and was immediately sent a snobby email reminding me that I attend in business attire. Business attire... on a Saturday? I can only assume they must get a lot of estate agents dining here (I think you call them realtors) because nobody else I know dresses for business on Saturday. I immediately cancelled. It's not that I didn't have a suit with me, it's the simple principle that the ambience was immediately destroyed by them even having a dress code. Maybe this is a cultural difference. In Europe, nowhere has a dress code. I have eaten at De Karmiliet in Bruges in a vest (it was a hot day) and the Fat Duck in a hoodie (it was cold), and others in whatever I through on that day, usually shorts and a t shirt. Proper, welcoming staff make you feel as important as the rest of the clientele no matter what. I don't yet have much experience of dining in the US but I've also booked Arnaud's and Emeril's for my stay here; if they also request a suit I'll be walking right back out the door and heading to Acme Oyster House - delicious and loud and every bit of ambience a restaurant needs!
Be the first to ReplyJust go to Ruth's Chris...
Let me start off by saying I'll never cheat on Ruth's Chris again when it comes to steak. This place was terrible! From the time we sat down it was 2 hours before we got any other food and we had to ask for bread. It took them 20 minutes to bring the check(they won't split checks either) My steak was tender but the flavor was very much lacking in almost every dish. This place couldn't touch Ruth's Chris with a 10 foot pole . Service was bad food was just okay and way over priced for what they served. Just go to Ruth's Chris where you don't have to ask for refills and they can assure your steak will be cooked right this place literally tells you they can't do anything more than medium well which is honestly a red flag because if you can cook a steak you should be able to make it no matter how someone likes it . We had a party of 7 and everyone of us were disappointed and felt like Ruth's Chris is much better.
Be the first to ReplyBest steakhouse so far!!
Our family is on a mission to eat at all the highly rated steakhouses in New Orleans and last Saturday we went to Desi Vegas. This is the best restaurant for steaks so far. Service was excellent and the ambiance is bright and airy. We all enjoyed their cocktail menu. Our starters included fried green tomatoes with crab, a butter lettuce salad with pears, candied walnuts and bleu cheese, special salad with goat cheese and crab and the tuna Napoleon. A Cesar salad and a wedge salad were also ordered. All servings were generous and they were not skimpy with the crab. Everyone was pleased with their choices. For the main event 2 petite filets with béarnaise , a ribeye with oscar( crab, asparagus and béarnaise) and a New York strip. All were cooked to our exact specifications and the quality of meat top notch. Sides were also generous enough to share: crystal onion rings, mushrooms and creamed spinach. The onion rings are lightly battered and thin rings. They will warm up great in an air fryer, by the way! We were very sated but did manage to share a red velvet brownie with ice cream and a crepe brûlée. Both were good. It was a tasty excellent meal and our absolute favorite for both steaks and sides. It is expensive but we’ll worth it especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyDesi Vegas is “The Place” in NOLA
People, people, people. This is “The Place” to dine in NOLA. Exquisite menu, wine selection and bar. It was recommended to us and so I am recommending to you. Lobster, mixed grill, NY strip, gulf fish, scallops, shrimp and all the sides of sweet potatoes, asparagus, lyonnaise potatoes and the meatballs. This place cannot disappoint. The staff is very attentive. Chris, Diego, Adrian, Gregoria were all so helpful and welcoming. Service was amazing, food is delicious and the pairings were on point. We drove 7 hours to NOLA. Ate here twice during our stay. We will return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, just a little too stiff for us
Almost everyone in costume, but you are allowed to wear shorts and polo. Therefore the prices are high. The food though is great. We had a "lady" steak, but that was for us a normal size steak.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and atmosphere
Fantastic food, I mean really Fantastic. Pricey, but worth every cent. Get the crayfish stuffed shrimp, you'll order another after you try it.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent barbecue served with class
This place is completely unexpected. Typically, when I look for good barbecue, this is not the type of setting I envision. My bias is from excellent barbecue places in Texas and Desi’s came very close. We ordered three meats and the smoke flavor and rub on the brisket was very good. Surprisingly I thought the ribs were the best part of the meal. The shakes are amazing. I had the bananas foster. They have a very good menu and it is well worth going to. I didn’t think it was over priced at all, considering what we had
Be the first to ReplyUPSCALE DINNER LOCALE
One of the last “dress code” dinner locations. The food was very very good. The service was uneven. We learned (by overhearing the neighboring table) that we were never presented with the daily specials. The peanut butter pie (a frozen dessert) came out ROCK HARD. They gave a steak knife(???) trying to help. When paying these prices, you expect food to be presented properly……yes, they took it off the bill, but still…..it’s the little things that make a premier restaurant great.
Be the first to ReplyLacking Atmosphere
Don't get me wrong, steaks were pretty good but for the cost, no better than I've had other places. All that fluff about dress code is a bluff. Room consisted of T-shirts, sweatpants, hoodies and cowboy hats. I'm not a snob about clothes but don't act like you have a dress code and then not enforce it. Basically tells me as long as they are paying customers you don't really care (which I'm fine with...take the dress code off your website). The venue was very loud for a "fine dining" experience. There was one table watching two 6-6 teams at a bowl game cheering like it was a national championship game. Nothing was said to them and they were extremely loud. It felt more like Buffalo Wild Wings. If you've never been to a nice steak house, give it a try...maybe it will be a better experience. Our servers were very friendly...no complaints there.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and food!
Food and service were outstanding! Felipe( our waiter) was attentive and helpful. We were a little worried when we seen they didn’t use much seasoning for the steaks but the butter and salt and pepper were perfect. We are from NW Indiana and have been to many Chicago and Indianapolis steak houses and have to say this was better then any we have had!
Be the first to ReplyUnacceptable and unprofessional!
Unprofessional and unacceptable! In Europe and basically all over the world I like to go to excellent restaurants (Michelin one or two star restaurants) . So over time I have build up some “gastronomic experience “ Well this time my experience at Desi Vega was exceptionally unpleasant. I had this knifing negative experience only once before in my life and I am 50 now…..so let me tell you my gastronomic experience at Desi Vega! At our arrival we were seated immediately after preparing our table. Behind us was a large group ( 20-30 persons) eating. After 10 minutes another group of at least 30 persons joined them although there were no tables available to seat them. The whole space transformed in a very noisy bar with a lot of coming of going of guests. With more alcohol , more noise. I made a first remark to the waitress and she didn’t seem to alnowledge my remarks and non-verbally she showed a kind of disinterest. After 15 min a manager came to ask me if all was fine and I repeated my remark and asked him for a quieter table which he refused. Another 10 minutes later another manager (Diego) came ask me the same question????? I told him basically the same and very quickly he wanted to end the conversation by apologising about the situation. Diego walked away and at the same moment he showed to his colleague manager in a non-verbal way ( turning his eyes) his irritation and he clearly thought I was a very annoying guy from Europe make some problems about nothing. So another time I stepped to them and I explained them that his behaviour was unacceptable and unprofessional. Again there were dismissive. So my evening with my daughter was spoiled and this for more then 230$. I refused to tip and even then it seemed they were not understanding my refusal to tip as there were all standing together at the wellcome desk discussing my action . And by the way they have 3 managers for one restaurant???!!!!! I am impressed as they were completely useless. And oh I forgot they gave us a dessert as a gesture because of all the annoyance caused by the big group. Thank you Des Vega! Never ever again!
Be the first to ReplyWhat an excellent experience.
We had a wonderful experience. Kelly, Randy and Brandon were the perfect serving team. They exceeded our every expectation and made excellent recommendations. The food was superb, the wine was excellent and the steak was so tender and flavorful that we went home happy and well fed. We will be back.
Be the first to ReplyFamily dinner at New Years
We had dinner at Desi Vega's while in town for the Sugar Bowl. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was polite and knowledgeable, but not overbearing or ostentatious. The food was truly one of the top ten meals we have had worldwide! We were stuffed after dessert so it was good to walk back to the condo and burn a few calories off. I would highly recommend eating here when in New Orleans. I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyAwful dining experience!!
Awful experience at desi Vegas steakhouse! Michelle confirmed our 12 top via email and then didn’t put us down. Had us wait two hours for a table then fed us awful tasting food. And we were celebrating the holidays after the loss of my child and they completely ruined our night. Chris the general manager patronized me and our party by calling us “vocal young ladies” as if my age and vocal ability has anything to do with them messing up our reservations. Spent thousands of dollars this Saturday night on a limo, baby sitters, makeup, Covid tests, and awful food to end up being treated so terrible. Bartender was rude as if it was our choice to be standing there for hours. They had us crying from being so frustrated after waiting so long to eat. honestly it felt like abuse. I can’t believe I paid for that type of service. Awful customer service and they chose not to make it right. Losing business this holiday season for sure. And I will always let anyone I come in contact with regarding desi steakhouse know my experience. Disgusted.
Be the first to ReplyGreat steak restaurant & atmosphere in NOLA
The food is consistently excellent, from the appetizers to the entrees, sides and desserts, you can’t go wrong with anything you order. This one of our “must-go-to” restaurants whenever we’re in town. Ask for Kevin & Louie—their service was spot on in every way!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service!
Friday night dinner. Waiters were Randall and Brandon. We received the absolutely best service I can remember. Seamless, fun, polite, lovely, charming to name a few adjectives to describe our experience. The food was very good too. Had the mozarella salad, bacon spinach salad, two filets that were cooked perfectly. Housemade meatballs for a gift from the kitchen. Cosmos were delicious. Not terribly expensive for the atmosphere and service. Ask for these guys.
Be the first to ReplyGreat steak!
Great food and great, cool atmosphere. Perfect for our 23rd anniversary. I had the filet and my wife had the fish in lemon butter sauce, both of which were great and cooked perfectly. Do miss out on the French onion soup either and the Maker’s Old Fashioned was money. Waiters were all over us but not too pushy. We had a great meal and a great time.
