Still Quire Good
Hadn't been since before Covid. We finally went back yesterday to a packed house. Dim Sum is still really good with an excellent assortment of Dim Sum and specials. Plenty of large dishes too. Highly recommended but prepare to wait on weekends at prime time.

I work very close and this places is always busy on weekends and holidays. Pretty tasty and fresh. Carts come around quite often, the ladies are very nice but English sometimes isn’t so good. But you end up always getting what you want. Top dishes are shrimp shumai, pork & shrimp shumai, meatballs, baked pork buns and pork spare ribs. Go early or after 2 to get a table.

This is one of those places where you feel like you should share with the owner what they are doing wrong - but then you look around and see how busy it is - and decide he/she must be doing something right - but you just can't see it.
We were in the mood for dim sum and found this on TA not too far from home. Unfortunately, it did not live up to its reviews (at least not for us - we were pretty disappointed). The place is well past its prime - not particularly appealing from the outside and definitely dated on the inside (worn carpets, peeling wallpaper, electric outlet covers duct taped to the wall, etc.).
They did have the dim sum experience we were looking for - with the push carts - but the food was just OK - certainly nothing special.
That all said - I have to concede that the place was packed - so obviously others don't' share my opinion. But it's not what I was looking for - I doubt I will return.
Great service and dimsum
First I have to correct the listing as this is in Avenel, NJ, not New Brunswick as stated on TripAdvisor’s page. This is the first time I have eaten here since they changed ownership. The restaurant is nicely spaced (not overcrowded) and the staff attentive but not overbearing. Parking was also ample. Our friends arrived before us on a Sunday around 11:15am. They already had a table which can be very hard to get on a Sunday. Food was served quickly and we were eating as soon as we sat. I enjoyed the beef rice rolls (cheung fun) and the lotus leaf wrapped chicken the most. We also had two noodle dishes which were very large that we ended up doggy bagging them. Tea was refilled often and quickly. Because we sat for a long time catching up, we did not feel rushed like other places. But then it helps when the other couple frequents the place often and they are familiar with them LOL. I would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyVery good Dim Sum & attentive staff
We just happened to be passing through & decided to eat a Dim Sum lunch. Every new customer is invited in with a big welcome smile & greeting. The ladies bringing the carts were very helpful with pointing out eveything. Dim Sum was tasty-tasty, better than our experience in NYC ChinaTown. Happy to return here for another "happy ending" hot fresh custard bau!

Husband and I had a dim sum lunch here. This used to be called a different name so maybe there was a change in management.
We were very pleased that the dim sum was very good- better than before. The shrimp dumplings were juicy and hot as was the sui mai pork dumplings. Chicken buns were steamed perfectly. What was really good was that the food was not fatty or greasy. Other dishes were good as well. The glutinous rice with Chinese sausage and pork wrapped in lotus leaves is a good pick too.
Will return to try their dinner menu. Overall, very good place.
Good dim sum and nice dinner
I've been there couple times for dim sum lunches. Dim sum is good. Better than some of those in NY Chinatown. I a
So been there once for dinner. They do serve a variety of very nice Cantonese dishes. You have to try it for yourself.
Pig's Trotters in Black Vinegar is excellent!
It used to be the Royal Seafood Restaurant (which I had never patronized) and in its reincarnation, bears the amusing name of Dim Sum Seafood Restaurant. No prizes for guessing what's on the menu here!
We were there for a late lunch on a Sunday.
The dim sum carts were in operation, delivering their hot and tasty little dishes to hungry customers. I'm told that the carts only appear on Sundays. During the week, you'll have to pencil in your dim sum order on the little white slips.
Overall, the dim sum was pretty ok, nothing to complain about.
Oh the glutinous rice, steamed pork ribs and the yam cake could do with more flavor though.
Service was pleasant and efficient.
However, the star of the meal was the Chee Keok Chou - Pig's Trotters in Black Vinegar. It hit all the right notes - sweet, vinegary and gingery. Super appetizing stuff.
In fact, it was so good, we had a second bowl then decided to take some home as well.
If I do go back (we're from New York, so the restaurant isn't on our daily route), this is the must-have dish!
Dim Sum prices start from $2.50. Noodles from $11.
Parking is free, and the restrooms are fairly decent.
Familiar venue under new management offering ultra fresh dim sum
My family and I have been going to this location for Chinese food for years. Prior iterations include "Route 1-9 Seafood" and "Royal Seafood". The current restaurant is under new management and offers -- by far -- the best, most delicious and fresh meals, including dim sum. As always, the restaurant is handicap accessible: my dad, who is wheelchair bound, and his aide, had no problem navigating from the handicapped parking spot to the ramp and into the restaurant to a table near the entrance. The friendly waiters spoke a variety of dialects and some English, so we had no problem ordering exactly the dishes we wanted. Since we came for lunch in the middle of the week, we placed our dim sum orders with the waiter; I am guessing on a weekend, the dim sum would be served from carts. Prices are a bit higher than in other authentic Chinese restaurants in the area, but the outstanding dishes served here are worth it. If you pay with cash, ask if they will offer a small discount off your check.

This is a traditional cart dim sum place that gets very very crowded on weekends. They do take, and try to honor reservations. The dim sum, especially the shrimp dumplings are amazing. Also, they bring around a lot of large plates- their duck is to die for.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
