This dim sum place staff is very disorganized.
You write everything on a piece of paper and they will bring out your food. Couple of tables when I was there have their order messed up and you hear the staff cursing at each other in Cantonese for the mess up. Food takes a while to come out and quality of the food doesn't meet more traditional dim sum places in Chinatown.I wouldn't recommend coming here

I recently visited Dim Sum GoGo in chinatown, and I have to say that I was not impressed. While the service was decent and the atmosphere was alright, the food just didn't hit the spot for me. The dim sum itself is pretty unremarkable -- under-seasoned and just so so flavor. I tried several different items on the menu, but everything seemed to lack that extra kick that I was hoping for. On top of that, the prices were a bit steep for the quality of the food. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Dim Sum GoGo as a must-visit spot for dim sum in New York.

Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazing.
I've only ordered delivery, so I can't speak past the actual food. Definitely a go to when I don't want to cook or get groceries.
Be the first to ReplyIt is located in Chinatown between two bridges.
Their dim sum is made as you order. No carts however. They have been there since 2000.The owners were a French-American food writer and a Hong Kong chef. I always like these dumplings - my favorite is steamed shrimp dumplings! I also loved the vegetable dumplings and then soup dumplings! We did have a reservation so we were good to go! Of course, we had green tea with it as well. The food comes out very quickly - so its definitely easy to over order - soup (hot and sour is my favorite) - my lest favorite were the chicken dumplings - didn't love those. (They have gotten a Michelin star every year since 2012 which is fabulous). I eat here when I am in the mood for dim sum!!

My rating would have been higher, had there been any sauces for the dumplings. Service was great, but we were only offered soy sauce. In my opinion dumplings really do require a sauce of some kind, without that my vegetarian dumplings were quite bland. For that reason alone I wouldn't come back.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I LOVE Dim Sum Go Go and have been going
My husband and I LOVE Dim Sum Go Go and have been going there for about 20 years. We don't bother with the regular menu of rather run-of-the-mill NYC Chinese food but focus our attention on the dim sum. Our favorites are the roast duck, pork and vegetable, snow pea leaf, and chive and shrimp dumplings; duck soup (yummy!); crispy pork spring rolls; and the mango pudding for dessert. The steamed dumplings are very special; their wrappings are so thin you can see the ingredients inside. But not so thin that they fall apart on your chop sticks. You won't get any of those thick, gummy dumpling wrappers you find uptown. the duck soup is a revelation and especially nice on a cold and/or wet day. We restrict our visits to about once a month so that our weekend lunches remain special. (I personally look forward to being called for jury duty so I can walk a few block over to DSGG for a quiet lunch all on my own. No sharing!) The two story restaurant is very plain with virtually no decor. But it's clean and the wait staff is efficient if a bit harassed. It is most definitely not a highly stylized sim sum palace. Accept that sometimes there will be a wait outside for a table. All of that is easily overlooked once those towers of small steamer baskets full of delicious dim sum are delivered to your table. It was mine and some friends's birthdays, so we decided on a celebratory dinner of dim sum in China town. Dim Sum Go Go was a good choice. The line was long. Thank goodness it wasn't freezing because they ddn't have a large waiting area or bar. Once we got inside, we waited some more. Finally, we sat down and ordered. Every dim sum we shared was yummy and fresh, including the chicken feet. The hot Sake was one of the best, I have had in a long while. Ahem...if you order the large, it's large but expensive $24 but the overall bill was quite reasonable. FYI, if you're looking for fancy this is not for you. If I ever travel back to the city, I just might go go again.

Be the first to ReplyQuality of food has gone downhill.
Hadn't gone for many years and it was a real disappointment from what I remembered it to be. The shumai is so very tiny and pretty flavorless. Also ordered lunch special chicken/broccoli- also terrible tasting. There are so many other places to go for dim sum, so don't go to GO GO.

Tl;dr: pricey for mediocre dim sum, oh and a surprise tea charge for black tea dregsWe should've known that it was mediocre by the fact that there was no line at 11:30am on a Saturday, but we decided to ignore our instincts. We ordered the tripe and the seafood/meat sample platter. The sample platter was unfortunately all over steamed and the peels were all falling off, and the tripe was extremely greasy. And the tea that they charged us for was some of the worst tea I've had. Save your money and go to literally any other dim sum place around here

This place is such a great place for dim sum! We went righ around lunchtime on a Saturday and were able to get seated right away. Our food also came out soonafter we ordered. My personal favorites here were the rice roll with beef, the roast pork bun, and the sticky rice with pork. It is a little shabbier than other dim sum places like Dim Sum Palance, but I honestly think that it gives a more authentic feel to the place. I also really loved their egg tart!

Delicious and super fresh! Pork dumplings are juicy and crispy, sauces are tart and have a zing of spice. So delicious! The sesame balls are crispy and so delicious I ordered another set to go. And soup dumplings? Arguably the best I've had. They have the handmade look about them and the soup is to die for. Dim Sum a do it!

I've known about this place for ages but it was always so crowded with tourists and the like that I hadn't ever been. Well, cut to this new age of traveling into the city just for take out and finally I got to scratch two itches -- my burning desire for dim sum and checking this place out. Food wise, it's all pretty delicious. I appreciate their more interesting variations on your classic NY dim sum fare (Nothing that's unheard of, but it's all stuff that's harder to find), from the outstanding duck dumplings to the intriguing shrimp stuffed tofu squares to the welcome chicken and mushroom shumai. Like others have pointed out, the physical size of the food is smaller than average unfortunately BUT it tastes great so I can't really complain. Will be happy to come back and dine indoors once I feel comfortable doing that anywhere.

The weather this past weekend was gorgeous which means one thing, dim sum waits were out of control. We tried a few of our usual places and were told 45 min plus. That's when we decided to head to this place after seeing it on the Michelin mention list. Surprisingly we were quoted a short 10 min wait though it probably needed up being closer to 20. The seating is pretty right inside. You're given a piece of paper to mark items. We decided to go with some traditional dim sum dishes. The service was fast and all the steamed dishes came out at once which was nice. Highlights for me were beef pastry, Siu mai, har gow. The other stuff we ordered tofu skins, shrimp rice rolls, bamboo dumplings were just ok and on the bland side. The soup dumplings are not legit at all, skip and go elsewhere. Overall it was an average experience. I liked that they have white tablecloths but our table was pretty stained from the previous parties and they didn't bother to change it. They also seated a group of 5 next to us which meant the 5th guys chair and coat on the back of his chair was basically on our table. The portions are on the smaller side but that's not really a negative, it lets you try more things.

I was in search for the place to go for dim sum, and this was definitely the place to go! Everything was easy to understand for someone who does not speak Chinese (thank you pictures!), and the food was excellent! We eliminated our wait time by sitting with another group (20 min. Wait otherwise). While it did not have the carts that I'm used to, I can't recommend this enough for some great food! One issue we had that was immediately resolved: while paying, I was informed by the waiter he accidentally charged the wrong total on my card. He apologized and brought a receipt that showed the first transaction had been voided. I confirmed it on my bank app this morning.

Take out review only: Food was average and pretty sure they forgot about our order until we arrived to pick up so we ended up waiting over an hour for our carry out. We ordered like.. 5small plates and dimsum does not take THIS long. Also staff made no efforts to speed up our order nor were they apologetic.
Be the first to ReplyDim sum go go is a must.
After schlepping into the city for dim sum my sister and I ate shitty dim sum at another place and needed somewhere to get our fix. Great service and even gave my sister a charger. Duck dumplings and baked pork buns were my favorite.

Honestly one of the best dim sum places I have tried in the city!Steamed pork buns were perfect and I have had a hard time finding good ones. Cold sesame noodles are a must order. Duck & scallion rice roll was the best out of the three rice rolls we ordered (shrimp, beef & duck). Also ordered shrimp & chive dumplings and the soup dumplings! My vegetarian friend liked both of her dumplings! This restaurant is on the Michelin guide and totally worth the stop!
Be the first to ReplyThe food were good enough if you crave dim sum.
Service is below average if that is important to you. For me, that is very typical of asian service. Place is clean, they are good at catering your needs, and dim sums are good.
