A great disappointment visiting this location yesterday.
I ordered braises beef noodle soup, Shanghai rice cake, crab & pork Xiao lom bao, and DW ordered minced pork & pepper noodles. Both the noodle and rice cake were undercooked. The beef in braised beef noodle soup was still firm with little flavor. A rule of thumb for this dish is to cook the beef to very soft, literally break up in your mouth. To be fair, the broth was good.Xiao lom bao did not taste good like I recalled. The meat tasted dry, maybe they've been refrigerated too long. This store is located in Century City Mall, known for fancy decor and expensive prices. I've been to same restaurant in Singapore and in San Gabriel Valley, each time they left me fond memories wanted to go back for more. NOT THIS STORE. Maybe they've been catering to the "gringo" client's taste for too long and lost that ethnic authenticity along the way.We will not be going back.
😍
Wow, food tasted amazing.
Make sure to reserve a table before coming in! The cucumber salad was so delicious and the chicken wonton soup was my favorite. For the drink, the lychee martini was to die for!
The wait time however is the worst. You lose the appetite waiting for a table and their online reservation is not the best at all. Once you get seated rest all falls in place with the food and service. Eat anything of their menu you can't go wrong . My fav is vegan dumplings in spicy sauce which I just keep eating. String beans , garlic broccoli are amazing.

I love din tai fung it's literally perfect I just hope that all the workers are happy since they're always so busy I worry about them Its rated in the top ten restaurants of the world for a reason. We are so lucky to have a taste of modern China in California!

We really recommend it and hope you try it.

Steamed Cod Dumplings (10 each), Vegan Green dumplings with Spicy Sauce , Shrimp Fried Noodles, Soy Noodle SaladKurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao (10 each)We order a bunch of items and ate 'family style' the food arrives pretty quickly after placing an order. The vegan green dumplings were recommended and did not disappoint!!! 'cod dumplings' were just 'ok' - 4 starts due to having more chicken broth than cod Overall I would definitely return and would recommend having a reservation. We waited an hour and 20 minutes which was totally fine while we shopped. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean as well.

Wonderful service and everything I tried was absolutely delicious great drinks as well!
Delicious food. Miss the slushies though. Slushies were my fave. Fried rice is a little bland.
🤮
Table next to us complained we used a swear word.
We were told by management we couldn't be served alcohol when no one was drunk. We spent hundreds of dollars and ended up leaving the establishment. I have been coming here for years and have never been treated like this. I'm disgusted.

I was really looking forward to eating here because
I was really looking forward to eating here because everyone hypes it up so much but I left a little disappointed. We got the pork spicy wontons ($15.50), crab and pork shao mai ($14), garlic broccoli ($8), pork buns ($11), and chocolate buns ($8). All were pretty good. The stand out was the spicy wontons. The chili oil balanced out the savory dumpling so well. But all in all, the food wasn't mindblowingly good. I often am wary about saying Chinese food is too expensive or not worth it because there is an unfair idea that Chinese food needs to be cheap, but if I was giving my honest review, I didn't think how good the food was was worth the price of what we paid. I've been to many many places (like Dumpling Kitchen in SF) with dumplings priced lower but tasted far better. I would gladly pay $15-$20 for those dumplings. Some positive things: great service and great atmosphere. I would also highly recommend you make a reservation if you can get one.
This a Great restaurant. Everything about it is first class the food, service and atmosphere. The dishes were prepared with high quality and fresh ingredients. We tried so many different items. Since small plates let yourself go and order some things you don't know what they are. You will not be disappointed.

Din Tai Fung is definitely over hyped but if you want to go
Din Tai Fung is definitely over hyped but if you want to go to a dimsum place with nice atmosphere this is it but for good quality dimsum? not so much. I was especially disappointed with the crab dumplings? It tasted fishy...I only had one bite. I would say the best thing about this place are the salads. I can eat two plates of the cucumber salad and the mungbean sweaweed salad. Everything else is just decent. Nothing special I would say. But even with everything said, I still enjoy coming here time to time.
😍
I absolutely love this place.
I'm not the biggest dim sum person, but DTF never lets me down. I absolutely love the cucumbers, string beans, & pork chop fried rice! My absolute go to every time I visit DTF. The wait is usually crazy so I recommend making reservations or planning to wait at least an hour.
😍
Awesome! Love it every time.
So well executed, from food to service to follow up...wow! Go DTF!
😍
Wow wow wow ! I had never tried Taiwanese food before this
Wow wow wow ! I had never tried Taiwanese food before this experience . Loved the Entire menu. Everything is family style. Top two dishes are the spicy pork wontons and the shrimp fried rice . But anything you choose will be yummy . Wish this place was in sonoma county , closest location is in San Jose area. Took my aunt who is super picky here and she loved everything !
😍
Love DTF! I'm a huge fan of the ever-growing vegan options.
Make sure you make a reservation in advance, although the walk in time is too bad if you plan on spending an hour or 2 walking around the mall.

My sisters and I decided to try this place one day during the week while we were in town. For a weekday they were pretty busy. We did not make reservations which of course we regretted once we found out they weren't taking any more guest unless you wanted to wait for a bar table. We ended up waiting for a bar table, the wait ended up being about 1 hour which wasn't bad considering we did not have reservations. We knew what we were having soon as we sat down so all we had to do was give the server the paper that had everything that we wanted written down. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time even though they were busy. They brought out dishes in sections so not all at once. If you want them all at once you can ask for that to be done. Bringing the dishes out in sections makes it easier so that everyone can try and enjoy the dishes together and the table isn't crowded either. All of the dishes were amazing especially the garlic green beans. I enjoyed everything that we ordered. From the meal to the service 10/10 would recommend if in the area.
Really not much more to say. The food is the best of the best. The service is attentive and reasonably fast given how busy the place can get. I've had excellent dine-in experiences as well as excellent take out experiences. If you want to know what Chinese-inspired Taiwanese food really tastes like, come here!

Grabbed takeout, lived up to hype and far exceeded expectations. Will try to dine-in next time. Try good food. Highly recommend.

Great food, excellent service.
However, we were waiting for two hoursI hope they open one near Valencia!!!

Hmmm I don't know if the food is worth the wait if it's more than a 3hr wait. I've only been here once so I would say the food/dumplings were great, but we'll see the next time I come if they're consistent.

Listen, this place has amazing food, no doubt! Also, our waitress Marian was SO sweet! My issue with this place is the wait time and rude hosts. I got there at 6pm knowing it'll be a wait and I was told 60-90 minutes by the host. I brought my brother and two sisters for their first time because I talked the F up outta this place to them. We ended up waiting a little over 2 hours for our table and that long wait was enough to ruin their entire experience. Every time I checked in with the hostess, she kept adding more time to our wait and wasn't even empathetic about it. Couldn't even look me in the eyes So we have a lovely meal even though it took a while because the kitchen was so backed up. And at the end we asked for parking validation and they told us they don't validate. So, not only did you have us wait for over 2 hours but you DON'T validate parking! Because we all drove separately we each paid $18 for parking If you're going to ask people to wait that long at least, AT LEAST, provide free parking. And if you're not going to validate parking you should have your RUDE hosts tell people to move their cars at least once

I filled out a survey from an automated email and someone called me about it - i ended up calling back because of a mix up and rep answered the phone and was SO nice. First he apologized (wasn't his fault whatsoever) and then helped me soooo thoroughly and nicely. I asked for his name bc he was SOOOO nice and took my minor issue so seriously, which i really appreciated. Wow. So impressed haha i was blown away - his name is Matt A :) what great customer service!

Can we give more than 5 stars? Great job to our server Erin
Can we give more than 5 stars? Great job to our server Erin and crew. Everyone was so friendly. We were told that wait time was about 1 to 1.5 hours but seated in about 25 mins. Text messaging system was great since we had time relax our tired legs outside. Clean interiors and the bathroom was constantly being cleaned and checked for supplies. Food was soooo good and we appreciated that there were a lot of vegetarian options for one of us. I had fresh squeezed orange green tea... so refreshing. We were also given the option to cancel some of our orders towards the end when it was obvious that we were getting so fulll already. I wasn't able to take a picture of all the food items we ordered since we were so hungry after the LA marathon. All items were fresh, light and not salty. A fun and worthwhile dining experience.
😍
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO START THIS REVIEW! Don't come here
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO START THIS REVIEW! Don't come here hungry coz you'll end up spending a fortune, lol! This place is a bomb! Anything you order here will hit the spot, even water! Service was fast, "JOSE" was super nice, attentive and very professional. He would explain how to order to keep the food warm. A very courteous man. We came here to celebrate my daughter finishing the marathon run and a was delicious. Prices were little bit in the high side but I think it was worth spending. No wonder this place was packed because the food is so good. No need to mention what we ordered coz anything you order I'm pretty sure it will be so good. We waited at the lounge for along time but it was worth the wait. Ambience is great, lighting is just right, you can see your food, lol! Joint is clean and there's plenty of elbow room to get busy. Noise level is moderate and the smell of the food want to make you order more. I would recommend this place for special occasions and to impress someone. A good place to learn to use chopsticks fast because if you don't learn, you'll run out of food, haha! I would come back in a heartbeat anytime although it took us an hour to get here. Come early to make reservations although I think they don't take reservations. It gives them an idea how big your group is and what time they could tell you the avail of your table. Meanwhile, while waiting, you have time time go shopping or have a beer!

My friends were in town from Texas and we have all seen the hype around Din Tai Fung so of course, coming to california we had to finally try it. We went on a weekend, so the wait was 1.5-2 hours, but we just played tourist for the time being and it's also in a mall, so if there's a wait you can shop and wait. The nice thing about dining here and their wait list is that they seat until last call, which I have never seen done before and added a lot of relief putting our names down around 6:30 and a close time of 9:30. The staff was all super friendly and every member that we passed on our way to the table greeted us and it was just a great environment and even though it was busy, everyone was still high energy & friendly. The food also made it very worth the wait. I forgot what all we ordered, but it was all SO good and left us wanting more even though we were all stuffed. If you go though, the #1 thing that I would recommend is their Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. I honestly would go just to order those again. Will definitely be going back, bringing more people and recommending to everyone.
😍
So jelly that LA has multiple locations.
We had tried to go put our names in at the Glendale location, but after waiting in line for about 15min, it seems that the location was not going to open that day... I'm sure it was a combo staffing/covid situation, but there wasn't even a sign on the door (which is totally understandable in these times). In order to scratch our DTF "itch" we tried this Century City location the next day. There was a bit of a wait (since we were a large group) but we walked around the mall to kill time until a table opened up. The hostess checks vaccination cards at the door. Our server was so great and I feel for them as people that are "less understanding" will come in and see an empty section and ask "why was there a wait?" I think in this day and age, there's a lot to be gained with a little patience and compassion. If there aren't enough servers/staff to serve people, it doesn't matter if you get seated or not (and "those" people will more or less complain how "slow" service is).ANYWAY.... we ordered all of our favorites... maybe over-ordered, but we were able to take home a ton. We did however finish all of our Xiao Long Bao.... those normally don't survive the trip home/reheating. THEY ARE SO DELICIOUS. I have dreams about them.I always love DTF with a large group since you can share the dishes (easily) and there are no bad dishes. My only complaint is the limitation of my stomach and how full I get, when I just want more.
🙂
Very good food but sometimes service slow.
But definitely will recommend as food always taste real mandarin food.

Our family went to Din Tai Fung restaurant in Century City
Our family went to Din Tai Fung restaurant in Century City on Saturday for dinner. The restaurant was crowded. We were able to have our name on the waiting list which we didn't mine. Finally, we got in after two hours walking around the mall. It was worth it because the food was delicious and the service was excellent! Staff at the restaurant was very professional. We were hungry by the time we ordered the food and it was brought to our table in a timely manner. We really enjoyed the food very much and had such a fantastic time there!
🙂
Great place and convenient location.
It's clean and the tables are spread out. Note to self... be ready for a 2 hour wait for a Saturday afternoon. The staff is super nice, the food good, the pepper tenderloin is excellent.
I got the spicy wontons and they are amazing. Heard of this place from social media and it did not disappoint. I recommend the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. 1000000/10.
🤮
The WORST recipient ever.
We asked the recipient how long we had to wait. They said 1hrs. But we ended up waiting for 2 hrs, and they still can't guarantee a table of 3 for us. By the time the other restaurants are all closed. They should just tell us they have sold out instead of keeping us waiting.
😍

Literally a favorite spot, a real "wish I could give it six stars" type of spot. The soup dumplings are so packed with flavor and it feels like I could eat an infinite amount of them. Standout appetizers are the green beans and the shortrib, but if anything on the menu looks good to you, you're probably right. The service is swift and polite. They're especially kind to people who are eating there for the first time, explaining the menu and laying out popular dishes. I always feel taken care of at Din Tai Fung, and then I leave with this unique feeling of fullness without being stuffed. The worst part is that because it's so good, the wait can be so long. Reservations for peak times can be full for literally a MONTH in advance, and last time I went the wait was 90 minutes. Luckily, the century city mall is a fun spot to walk around, so you can go get a cocktail at Zinque or just go window shopping for a while. It's 100 percent worth the wait if you've got the time!
🤮

I ordered my food ahead of time 45 min later and getting notification that my order was ready for pick up and was told they were too busy and I had to wait another 15 min. Feels like someone drop the ball and did not care

After seeing so many reviews of Din Tai Fung on different
After seeing so many reviews of Din Tai Fung on different platforms, I had to make a reservation to try during my visit to Los Angeles - it was literally my first stop right after landing! We were greeted by a friendly hostess who asked us for our vaccination cards and we were seated right by big glass windows, the shades were pulled down when it became too sunny. The ambience of the restaurant was nice, you can see the staff making dumplings which I thought was fun. Our server, and the server in training that was following him around, were very friendly and they were able to give helpful information when we asked about the menu and for recommendations. Everyone who does to Din Tai Fung raves about the cucumber salad, so I had to order it. It was a 3/5 for me, it was quite bland, it just tasted like sliced cucumbers with some sauce (didn't even taste like it was marinated if it's supposed to). Of course Xiao Long Baos were ordered, we ordered the truffle and kurobuta pork Xiao Long Bao (2/5) and the crab and kurobuta pork Xiao Long Bao (4/5). Honestly, the crab and kurobuta pork ones tasted better than the truffle ones, when there were only half the portion for the truffle ones (5 instead of 10). There was no taste of truffle, it did not have a wow factor at all. The crab and kurobuta pork ones were juicy, but there was nothing special about them compared to other soup dumplings I've had at other well-known soup dumpling restaurants. The shrimp and kurobuta pork dumplings were tasty (4/5), I personally liked them more than the Xiao Long Baos. Bok Choy with scallion-infused oil (4/5) were tasty, but nothing special about them. Shrimp and Kurobuta pork spicy wontons (4/5) and noodles with spicy sauce (5/5). I LOVED that spicy sauce, I literally used it to dip my dumplings in. I wanted to ask for it on the side, but there was a charge, so why not just use the leftover sauce from the noodles/wontons. The kurobuta pork buns (4.5/5) were good, it only comes with two though, so order more portions if you have a lot of people! Overall, the food was good, but it wasn't amazing like I expected it to be. I sort of feel disappointed after seeing so many people speak so highly of the food, maybe it's the location/day. I will come back to give it another try though! The biggest issue for me that day was the wait. We literally waited 10-15 minutes in between EACH dish. I wish that more dishes came out at the same time, because maybe they would compliment each other. We would finish the entire dish, wait 10-15 minutes for the next one to come, and finish that within minutes when it comes out. I definitely would like to have a full table of food rather than a "tasting menu" type of vibe.
🙂

I have been following this establishment since their beginning at small place in Arcadia. They have expanded throughout souther California, unfortunately quality control have failed to maintain high standard for their food, along with their prices! I guess high prices comes with high rent storefronts like Century City mall and others like it. Quality must remain even with high prices. $100 tab for lunch is normal!

Sure... Place is good. But I don't really know what to compare it to, but pricing is a bit steep for dumplings. Be prepaid to pay roughly $60 a person.

I came for the food but I stayed for Emma She's awesome.
That is all I wanted to say but apparently I got 27 characters to go. But yeah, the food was really good but Emma is extremely hilarious. Will come back when I'm in the area

Bombbbb, my favorite were the crab and pork bao which is surprisingly a good mix. The mango slushie had an amazing consistency, it was so smooth and fluffy. Don't even get me started on the string beans because I seriously wouldn't be mad if I can only choose one item on the menu the next time and this was it. Shrimp rice was good, not the best but it's also kind of hard to ruin rice. Shrimp wontons were also fire
🙂
4 stars because it is so hard to get a table here.
However, the food and service are immaculate and never disappoints. Make sure you try the Pork XLB and for dessert, chocolate mochi xiao long bao.
🤢
I love the food here, but they need to get their act
I love the food here, but they need to get their act together. We put our name in at 5:30... we were told it would be 2.5 to 3 hours. We came back at 8:10 and asked how much longer it would be. They told us at least 40 minutes. Totally unacceptable. If the wait is out of their estimate, they should make calls to allow people to make a choice.
😍
I have nothing to say except that the food was amazing.
The dumpling were very good (pork and chicken). This place is impossible to get in but if you do im sure you'll have the best food experience m my.
🤮
I would give zero stars if possible, we wrote our names
I would give zero stars if possible, we wrote our names down for 5:40 PM and were told that we would be seated in 2 hours. It's 8:58 PM and we still don't have a table. They have no seats available but they made us stand out in the cold for over 4hours. Every time we go and ask if we will get a table, we are told to wait another 30 minutes to an hour. It is chaos and huge crowds are waiting. This is terrible management and very poorly organized. Their seating plan and reservation system needs a serious re haul. This particular location gives a bad rep to an otherwise popular brand. Very disappointed and will not return
😍
Nice Taiwanese restaurant for my Americanized palate.
When it comes to Chinese food, I like to eat rice and dumplings (Pekín duck once in a while). If you are like me, this is paradise. The broth inside the dumplings is perfectly cooked so you can eat each piece in a single bite (not too hot, just perfectly hot).
