We used to come to Dio Deka 15-16 years ago, and it was quite good. But after we moved away from the area, we found other places. In the last year or so we've been hearing great things about the food from friends who live in the Los Gatos / Saratoga area, but dismissed them as exaggeration. And then, a couple of days ago, I found out that Chef Nikos Moulinos had moved to Dio Deka a couple of years ago. The next day we were there. And, oh boy, was it good. Every dish we had was outstanding: the moussaka with duck meat (who other than Chef Nikos would have thought to combine two of my favorite tastes?), the lobster pasta, the octopus, the thalassomezes (seafood sampler), the spanakopita, everything was mouthwatering. And the desserts? Forget about it: the loukoumades (donut beignets drenched in Greek honey), the ekmek (kataifi with an amazing cream topping), and the sokolatina (chocolate cheesecake) are all in my Top 10 all-time dessert list. My only regret: That I didn't know about Chef Nikos being there earlier; I missed a couple of years of enjoying this wonderful food. And last, but not least, I should add that our dinner was made even better by the excellent service we received from everyone, but especially Darrin, who took great care of us at our table, and Sakis, who made us feel very welcome as we came in. All in all, a wonderful experience worth the long drive.
