Delicious, yum, great are a few words I'd use to describe my experience at doi moi. We had STELLA (shoutout) as our waitress - best waitress ever! Will definitely be back. Their daiquiris ($8 before 8!) taste like a popsicle. Yum!

Be the first to ReplyLove this place! Really creative and flavorful dishes.
The interior is bright, welcoming and open. I tried a fried rice variation with basil and added fried chicken. The cocktail, Doctor's Orders, was one of the best whiskey cocktails I've ever had.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance and drinks.
While food was great, would recommend going for the fun vibe and drinks.
Be the first to ReplyWe first enjoyed Doi Moi via delivery.
Everything would be tasty and we were always happy that the 5 spice frites would still be crispy and delicious even after traveling across town. So, we put it on our list as places to go in person. I love the vibe, the patio is great for people watching and the retro rock playlist is always on point. Notably we visited on New Years Eve and were pleasantly surprised by the great service on such a busy night. Our favorite dishes are the fried beef jerky, 5 spice frites, cabbage and chicken salad, the salmon fillet and the noodle dishes. We love spicy food and we always comment that their dishes have a nice kick but aren't overwhelming. We went for lunch recently and the service wasn't bad, just a bit slow and clunky. We requested a seat in the lower area so we could see the kitchen action and the host seemed inconvenienced even though there were other diners in that area. I ordered the Thai Iced Tea to start and waited a long time only to be told that they are out of it. So I ordered a bittersweet slow drip instead, and waited. When the server reappeared he seemed surprised that no one had dropped off the coffee in the time he was gone. So, we waited another 5 minutes or so for him to go get it. We ordered dumplings to start (right now they are offering free dumplings, which is great!) and an order of the Viet-Lo noodles and the shredded cabbage and chicken salad. After a while, I realized that there was only one server for the entire restaurant and I felt bad that he had to run around so much. The noodles came first and the dumplings and salad followed a good while afterwards. This made it a bit awkward because we weren't sharing our entrees. Everything was delicious as usual. We would definitely go back, every spot has an off day!

Be the first to ReplyDelicious Viet food! The sauce that came on the dumplings
Delicious Viet food! The sauce that came on the dumplings was sweet and tangy. The drinks are also really good and they have an $8 happy hour for daiquiris. The service is fast and they can handle large parties. The portions are large, so most of us took some dishes to go, especially the noodle dishes. I would definitely recommend for a celebration.
Be the first to ReplyHappy hr was a great price and super yummy.
Loved the drinks, I got the cranberry daiquiri and split the vegetarian sampler with friends. Cute place, the service was a little slow but nothing crazy.
Be the first to ReplyMy friend and I had a really great experience at doi moi.
It's been added to my list of DC favorites. Our waitress, Stella, provided great recommendations and service. She really went above and beyond. We had he chrysanthemum tea, island breeze, brussel sprouts, chicken dumplings, chicken wings, spring rolls and Viet Lo. The brussel sprouts were the star of the meal, followed very closely by the Viet Lo. Can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyI love doi moi.
I come here all the time. It's a great atmosphere for any occasion. I've had dates, take out, family dinner. The food and the drinks are both to die for. And let me not even talk about the portions! Though they are large, it's so good that you will be so happy to take it home and probably eat it before morning comes! My favorite is the drunken noodles yummmm

Great service, refreshing cocktails, delicious food that stays authentic to its Vietnamese name, and awesome happy hour deals. This is a restaurant that I am always excited to recommend and bring new friends to. I also appreciate their effort to clearly communicate allergens. My only problem with this restaurant is how far out you need to make a reservation!

Welcoming service / fun and delicious food / excellent cocktails. Will be returning! Started off having a cocktail at the bar - they have a hybrid indoor & outdoor bar - very cool. Cocktails: Worth the trip. We tried 'Coco B', 'Out of Office' and our favorite 'Matcha Made in Heaven - recommend trying this one. Dinner: Steamed dumplings, Drunken Noodles, Blistered Shishito Peppers, Shaken Beef. Highly recommend the Shaken Beef and add jasmine rice. The rice recommendation was provided by the bartender prior to sitting down to dinner. We will be returning for shaken beef - incredible.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my favorite place in DC.
I've tried the Obama's bun cha and pho. The ingredients tasted fresh. The bun cha is amazing, lots of flavor there! The pho is skippable in my opinion. It's lacking tripe and tendon.

The Good:THE SERVERS are terrific and just genuinely friendly. And quick. Keira (spelling?), our waitress, was a great example, and especially attentive to our toddler, but everyone we interacted with was just NICE and doing a great job.My drunken chicken banh mi sandwich was good: the taste was right, but a bit dry, and not very large. The brussel sprouts were terrific. We were also happy to be seated right away, without a reservation, at about 8pm on a Thursday, at one of their outdoor tables. The Bad:My wife said the broth for her pho was "tasteless", and looking at the other reviews, it seems that at least 30% point out that the pho was NOT very good. I don't think it's asking much for a Vietnamese-inspired place to make decent pho.The 8-8-8 daiquiris were delicious BUT so devoid of alcohol that after two of them I didn't feel even the slightest buzz. So what was a great deal for an alcoholic drink turned out to be very expensive fruit juice.

Went while on a quick trip to DC and I was blown away by how amazing this food was. It was truffle week in DC so they had an amazing special menu to correlate and it lived up to the hype. I will recommend Doi Moi to everyone I ever meet!

Visiting from Southern California and so many locals were raving about this place so I had to check it out. So very disappointing a overpriced, no flavor, and horrible customer service. I don't know what the attraction is. They also have a speakeasy downstairs with decent drinks but be ready to pay $20 a drink lol. Bottom line - don't waste your time or money here.

I was slightly hesitant to eat here as I am not that aware of Vietnamese cultural dishes, but my friends really wanted to try it, so I joined them. First, we had a party of 8 and they sat us down super quick outdoors under a cute little patio area. It was Sunday, and brunch was still being served til 3pm so I tried their Good Morning Vietnam dish and Watermelon Rush drink.I was completely blown away by the dish, it was absolutely delicious with so many fantastic flavors and textures! Our waitress handled our table and many others quickly and with excellent service. Highly recommend!

I came back for the fourth time! After my lackluster visit in my last review, I ordered the fried rice and the beef jerky. Now that's the rice I remember from the first visit and the jerky was spicy but so flavorful! The last visit, I opted in for the drunken noodles and the fried chicken wings. The noodles were alright the first night but it didn't taste good the next - maybe one of those dishes best served warm. The fried chicken wings were bombbbbbbb - had some sweet heat to it and the sauces were perfection. So now I'm 3 for 4 and I think it will be added to my Must Go locations
Be the first to ReplyWe decided to stop at Doi Moi after an afternoon of walking
We decided to stop at Doi Moi after an afternoon of walking around DC. For a party of 2 at 6:30 on Saturday we only waited about 25 minutes for a table on the patio (which had overhead heaters!). My husband ordered the pho and I got the citrus chicken platter. Both dishes were super flavorful, and the chicken was extremely tender. The one downside was that my husbands order came out about 10 minutes before mine so he was almost done eating by time my food arrived. Otherwise, service was friendly and welcoming. So glad we stopped in!
Be the first to ReplyI have never thought about coming to this place for brunch.
When my friend made the reservation I was confused. But coming here for the bottomless coupled with the killer food (get the lemongrass chicken) was so worth it. On top of that incredible service Mariah was incredible and so on top of it. DONT sleep on Doi Moi brunch.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, prices aren't too bad.
Fun atmosphere as well, and it's not too far from a metro stop
