My favorite restaurant in NYC.
Not sure where to begin it's all so perfect. Chrysanthemum salad, cheesy garlic bread, lasagna, steak Al Limone, the crispy pork Milanese with unique toppings, the potato side dish. It's just too good. Also the drinks are great and I don't even like drinking. Don't miss the dessert either. A true shining star but don't expect classic red gravy Italian - this is elevated and modernized so be prepared to go somewhere...NEW
It's a chill and fun atmosphere, the staff is friendly and knows their stuff, and the kitchen puts out amazing dishes. An Italian restaurant with chrysanthemum Caesar salad, fried rice, sweet potato, and mochi ice cream? Yum. Our drinks, apps, pasta, mains, and desserts were all delicious. There were 3 of us and we each ordered something different so we got to sample each other's dishes. At the end, I wanted to start the meal all over again.

Started with the Chrysanthemum Salad, Garlic Flatbread, and the BBQ Calamari. All were very good but we all agreed that the salad was the best. Then for our entree. We got the Gnocchi, the Sourdough Pasta, and obviously we had to get the Lasagna. Once again, all very tasty but the lasagna was the standout dish. Absolutely delicious and worth the hype. They have a nice wine list and we picked a bottle of red and a bottle of white. Highly recommend this place.

I managed to get a Sunday night reservation via Resy after checking the website many times. Feel so amazed by this unmatched dining experience in the city. The Village never disappoints but Don Angie is next level. The staff is super welcoming and friendly throughout the entire dinner time. The place is dimly lit and the ambiance is perfect for date night. The restaurant is small but cozy and feels like you're at your upper middle class classy Italian aunts house. For drinks we had Grandmas Little Nip- if you're looking for a light drink and you like Campari this one is def a great choice. The flavor of the Palermitano is unmatched, delicious vodka based drink.For appetizers we had:-Scallop Citrus Crudo- incredible flavor, so light and fresh and love the tanginess of the grapefruit -Prosciutto and Papaya- you HAVE TO get this dish, the olive oil and caramelized hazelnut with the creaminess of the papaya wow what an epic mix. Explosion of flavor in your mouth!!For main course:-homemade lasagna- my partner saw me tear up after taking the first bite, the pinwheel shape makes the lasagna so light, the pasta sheets are freshly made, the ragu is sweet. This lasagna is made with beschamel (which is my fav ingredient in lasagna) but also dollops of fresh ricotta all over. -Japanese sweet potatos- DO NOT PASS on these!!! Small portion but I have never tried potatoes that are so perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They melt in your mouth!!-chicken cacciatore Sourdough pasta- the staff from Don Angie offered this to us as a courtesy (we ordered the last portion of the Caramelle that were dropped in the kitchen by mistake ) the pasta shells were so incredibly chewy and the chicken sauce was so delicious!! I can't wait to get my next reservation at Don Angie!! Hands down the only Italian place in the city that truly does Italian Kitchen well!!

Unfortunately, they hired a person at the door and her name is Jennifer. Not the brightest person and certainly not good for business. When you run a business try and have the person who is client facing be nice. Jennifer is clearly unhappy and not a good person to have meeting any clients. The Michelin rating is a far stretch which you will know quickly find out. They need to bring back their old level of humility. To be clear, this was once great but some bottom of the barrel hires have ruined their reputation. It's a shame.
Was worth the hour wait to eat at the bar on a Monday night. There's a reason this place is always mobbed. Was freaking delicious. Best Italian I've ever had in the States hands down.

Out of all my dining experiences, in NYC and beyond, I have never encountered a more rude and incompetent general manager. She refused to let me sit down at my table for close to 40 minutes even when I had a reservation. I told her since we only have 90 minutes (their assigned timeframe for a full dinner because they overbook), I could probably save time by sitting down and ordering for the table. She replied "ok tell me when you are all here." While I understand restaurants' policy to prefer all guests at the table be seated at once, it is definitely not the right move to reject to offer seating and have the guest waiting standing instead of allowing him to sit down at the empty table. I then asked "I can't just sit down first?" To which she gave me the most sarcastic fake smile (looked like she could be related to Laurie Sackler, the woman who helped give this country the Opioid Epidemic?) She really needs basic hospitality training to be continuing this line of work. As someone who's dined with you over 10 times, I hope Don Angie is able to read this and reflect and take accountability, instead of expectedly jumping to her defense saying she was simply following protocol to have the guest stand around for 40 minutes because the other guest was running late. Just use a little common sense and empathy next time, if you have some in your DNA. 0/10 for the general manager. Get a new one please.

Getting a reservation here was not easy--had to set multiple reminders and alarms to book a reservation. Overall the food here was pretty good.CHRYSANTHEMUM SALAD: This one was really good. I've never had a salad like this before, and we quickly devoured it.STRACCHINO GNOCCHI: This one was pretty good, but not amazing.SOURDOUGH PASTA CACCIATORE: I personally really liked this one, since it was very zesty, but my friends both thought it was too sour. Personal preference :) OUR LASAGNA FOR TWO: This one was good, but kind of heavy.I think this place is worth a try, but for how hard it is to get a reservation + the price, there are better places in the city.

All I can say is phenomenal.
The veal was out of this world with a unique and amazing flavor profile. We loved the lasagna to share (with plenty of leftovers!) and as everyone else has said, the salad was just great with the piled high cheese and floral notes from the greens. However, the star of the show for me was the tiramisu. It had mixed reviews on here and I actually opted not to get it, but because it was my birthday they gave it to me for free and let me just say, I AM SO GLAD THEY DID. I WOULD HAVE TRULY MISSED OUT. It has a crunchy layer, a creamy layer, and thick "cake like" layer on the bottom. Extraordinary. Dont read the other reviews regarding the tiramisu. It's a must get!

After MONTHS of trying to eat here we finally got lucky & snagged a last minute cancelled reservation for 5:30PM on Thursday. We were a big group, so we ate outdoors and their parklet setup is really awesome. You basically get a private room as each booth is fully separate from one another - my only qualm was there wasn't any music playing, which would've really added to the ambiance. We ordered A LOT. Appetizers: We tried the Chrysanthemum salad which was AMAZING, easily the best salad I've ever had. Every part of it blends together perfectly and even the mountain of cheese on top isn't overpowering. We also got the stuffed garlic flatbread, which was really good and cheesy but personally I wouldn't order it again (definitely try it though!). Our curiosity was piqued by the BBQ pepperoni calamari which ended up being really good and tasted a lot like a pizza, the portion is pretty tiny though. I'd give the appetizers a 9/10. Main dishes: Of course we HAD to get the lasagna. I'd been dreaming of it for ages and was ecstatic to finally give it a try. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong it's super good and 100% worth getting, but I think my expectations were a bit too high and I can't say it blew my mind the way I was hoping for. Next up was the steak, which was perfectly cooked and very good but the lemony taste was a bit overpowering for me. Our other meat dish was the pork shoulder which was my personal favorite. It was amazingly tender and had a very straight off the outdoor charcoal grill taste, which you don't get too often at restaurants. The only dish we tried that I'd say to pass on was the smoked mussels, I'm a big seafood fan but the smokiness tasted like nothing I've ever tried before (and not in a good way). It wasn't BAD, just not worth it when there's so many other amazing options on the menu. I give the main dishes an 8/10. We were way too full for dessert, the dishes are all pretty small and for a big group they recommend you order ~10-14 dishes, but they start to fill you up fast (personally I'd say to order 8/9). Another important note: the service here is outstanding. Our server was fast, polite, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu. Our waters got refilled a ridiculous amount of times and not once did we need to ask for them to be. We were checked in on constantly, but not in a way that was disruptive to the meal. Every restaurant in the city should strive to provide service even a fraction as good as Don Angie. I will definitely be back.

A very delicious Italian meal in NYC! The service was great with very friendly and attentive staff. We started off with the cheesy bread (delicious but once tried, I would skip it the next time around because it's very filling) scallop crudo (refreshing, elegant and beautiful dish), BBQ calamari (was not expecting this dish be as good as it was, crunchy rice, perfectly cooked calamari...wow!). For the entree we only ordered two pasta dishes, gnocchi (nice twist, reminded me of ciao e pepe) but unfortunately, my dish was lukewarm :-( so I didn't enjoy it as much as I should of. The garganelli was amazing and nicely seasoned, hot, and cooked to perfection! We ended our meal with the tiramisu and although I am not a chocolate fan it was TO DIE for! would go again in a heartbeat! Deserves a 5 star rating but the lukewarm dish brought it down to a 4 star.

Reservations were super difficult to score but we were able to get two- one on Thursday and one on Saturday! The outdoor cabin seating is AMAZING! This is the fanciest parklette setup that I have ever seen. Seats were heated and each have heavy curtains to keep the cold out. Our server Shaye was the sweetest! We got almost everything on the menu between the two meals. The papaya and prosciutto salad was so good we got it twice. The chrysanthemum salad was good but we liked the papaya salad better. We also got the garlic flatbread twice. The lasagna was good but the LOBSTER IS AMAZING! The flavors are just indescribably good. The smoked mussels were really tasty too. We also got the Japanese sweet potatoes and mushroom. Def recommend the mushrooms!!! We also got the canteloupe sorbetto twice. Service was awesome, ambiance is great- we will definitely be back next time we're in NYC!

Reservations are super hard to come across so I recommend that if your in the area, stop by and ask what that days availability is like when the restaurant opens up and you may get lucky. We stopped by and they gave us a reservation for an hour in the outside seating (the area outside is heated) - it's actually quite nice and Intimate. Breadsticks were super tasty, they came with lasagne (which is one of the tastiest lasagna, the tomato sauce was perfect and the presentation of the lasagne was gorgeous. Gnocchi was delicious aswell though felt like the serving size was significantly smaller than the lasagne. Though the lasagne is made for two people and it's definitely worth it

Shaye is our server and she's amazing. We had the pleasure of meeting the manage, Alissa and she too is soooo kind and helpful. The food here looks spectacular. Were sooo happy and appreciative to have gotten a table. Update; we jus finished the Flatbread and the Citrus Hickory Salad and I don't say this lightly; they were both "perfect". Jus "perfect". Ok, our last update; Japanese Sweet Potatoes and the Gnocchi were "must haves" so let's sum up; ask for Shaye's section and you "must" order 4 dishes. 1. The Flatbread. 2. The Hickory Salad. 3. Gnocchi and Japanese Sweet Potatoes. You'll agree with my girl and myself; it'll be one of (if not the) best meal you've ever had. Yes, it's that good. We can't wait to come back.

Probably some of the best food I had at my time in New York. I can see why it's impossible to get a reservation here. When we showed up for a reservation there was the longest line out the door of people just trying to put their names in for the night, luckily I did get a reservation for three on the patio. We were seated right away once we checked in the booth we were in on the patio was super cute, very Covid friendly. We got an appetizer, salad, and shared the famous lasagna. It is probably some of the best lasagna I've ever had in my life and that's coming from an Italian. If you can somehow manage to get a reservation here, or go early to put your name in, I highly recommend making this a must stop on your trip to New York.Pros: service, food, environment Cons: none!

Shoutout to Alissa (great name right!?) who was able to get us in on a Sunday night around 8pm. She was so friendly and attentive and we only waited about 15 minutes for a table indoors. We sat at the bar and I was FINALLY able to experience Don Angie! I've been trying to snag a reservation on Thursday/Friday/Saturday for a long time but it's hard! Most people don't cancel and I can see why. Upon entering, the restaurant has a great ambiance, enough loud but not too loud. Great for dates, great for groups or even birthday dinners. The bar area is a bit tiny so be prepared to be shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor, nothing new for me. That's NYC for you!Given it was our first time, we ordered the classics: Chrysanthemum salad, veal + tuna tartare, lasagna and a side of the mushroom skewers. We also had a delicious natural wine from Sonny-boy. Everything was INCREDIBLE and complimented each other so well. I don't even know how to pick my favorite item because they were all so delicious. The lasagna was next level worth ALL the hype.. I've never been a lasagna girl but I was converted that evening. The salad was the perfect crisp element with a slight twist on a regular Caesar, a must try (I'm still thinking about it). The hardest part about it being just two of us is that there were more items we would have loved to try but clearly don't have the stomach room for so we made a note to come back! Also our bartender was really helpful, provided her recommendations and chatted with us very much like a regular server would WHILE multitasking making cocktails etc! If you do sit in the bar area, know that the bartender is doing multiple jobs (cocktails/wine making, food orders and providing friendly service) so be patient with them, it's a-lot going on! Tip generously of course :) Can't wait for round two!

I truly think it was the best meal of my life. I wish i had more words except the universe really did us a favor by randomly showing a 930 reservation for that Saturday night purely by chance. I have not stopped thinking about this since that night. Just go. It's worth the hype. Troll resy until you get a spot bc if you can do one thing in nyc, it has to be this.

Prittyyyy pritttyyyy (in my Larry David voice) good. The BBQ calamari and stuffed garlic flatbread are must have starters. The calamari isn't what you think...no bbq sauce and also not battered/deep fried but instead seasoned and probably pan seared or grilled, and then served on top of pepperoni fried rice. Also had the famous lasagna, which was very good too, and it came with this bread that somehow was even better. Tried the Veal Da Pepi as well. Think schnitzel. Didn't love it. All in all, great dining experience and IMHO better than nearby and equally (if not more) hyped Via Carota. Really loved the starters and, crazy, but that bread was my favorite part of the meal. I don't know, somethin about that bread.

Have wanted to try don Angie forever and it's difficult to get reservations so had to come when I got the chance. Reservations are released 9am EST 7 days before, and being in california at the time, I refreshed exactly at 6am and most tables were actually gone by then. I got a table through Amex's global dining access so that helped a bit. We got the stuffed garlic flatbread, the bbq calamari, lasagna, gnocchi, and sorpresine & smoked mussels. The garlic bread and calamari were a great way to start the meal though I wouldn't say they were amazing. The gnocchi was stuffed and there were only 6 pieces, but it was definitely a unique dish we tried! The lasagna is a classic and was great - definitely feeds 3-4 people rather than 2 mentioned on the menu. For me, the sorpresine and smoked mussels were the best. The pasta was nice and Al dente and chewy, and there were bread crumbs that added a bit of crisp to it. The texture and flavor were amazing. We also ended up getting a bottle of wine that our waiter recommended. It was to all our likings and paired well with the meal overall. Would definitely come back! Including the wine, it was a good price and good amount for 4 people.

I had to crowdsource this effort and me + two of my friends were at the ready, and thankfully one of us was able to secure a table for 2, outdoors on a Monday.The outdoor booth is SUPER cozy. There are privacy curtains, heated floors and even music that's piped into each booth -- so A++ for creating a great outdoor ambiance. The service? Impeccable. Our server was so much fun, she told us exactly what to order and even the server that kept our water glasses full was extremely friendly and helpful.Of all the dishes we ate (there were a lot), I have to say the lasagna was exquisite. I've had dishes in Rome, Italy and Florence, and THIS lasagna is the best lasagna that I've ever eaten. What's even more exciting (today, post dinner) is that I have one roll left in my fridge. So I get to repeat my experience at home (bliss, PURE and utter bliss).You should definitely try the Chrysanthemum salad, the BBQ calamari (which was crazy tender!) and they had that candied pasta as the daily special and it was ALSO divine. Basically there isn't a single bad dish to order. Even the Japanese sweet potato, something I'd never dream of ordering at an Italian restaurant, was memorable.Oh, and we had a really really really good bottle of red wine too.It lives up to the hype. All of the hype!!

Don Angie is probably one of the best Italian restaurants we've ever been to in New York. We visited Rezdora back in December and were sorely disappointed, so really glad Don Angie was not overhyped. Food was fantastic, ambiance was great, and we had the loveliest waiter! To start, we got the Chrysanthemum Salad and BBQ Calamari. The salad is a must! We've never had just a chrysanthemum (crown daisy for fans of hot pot) salad and it went very nicely with the parmesan cheese. For mains, we got the lasagna, gnocchi, and buffalo milk caramelle. Wow! All three dishes were amazing, but we've never quite had pasta like the buffalo milk caramelle. It was a special when we went, but hopefully it becomes a main on the menu because it was truly spectacular. Although definitely the star of the night, the gnocchi and lasagna were very delicious too. Also they gifted us Japanese Sweet Potatoes and we will definitely need to order next time we visit. We couldn't stop eating them! For dessert, we ordered the fior di latte mochi and the tiramisu. The mochi was a little salty, but really enjoyed the tiramisu. Highly recommend Don Angie! We will definitely be back! You are seriously missing out if you haven't been yet.

After literal years of having it on the list of places to try and attempting to get a reservation, we finally got a surprise reservation last minute on Resy. We thought it was a prank and honestly I wish it had been. We started with a BBQ calamari which was good in that it wasn't a chewy disaster like calamari usually is. We got the caramelle pasta and the pesce for our mains. The pasta had about five total noodles which was both annoying and fine as it wasn't good enough to want more. The fish was good but who cares it's fish. The sides of cauliflower and sweet potato were atrocious. The cauliflower was cheesy up the wazoo and the sweet potatoes were fried also up the wazoo. The vibe was cute though and the servers were all delightful. If you don't care about food, by all means, go! But if you do, run for your damn life.

Their book opens 7 days out at 9 a.m., and you better be ON IT because reservations literally disappear in a minute. That's how I ended up with a 4:30 resy with outdoor seating, but no complaints here!The outside area is actually very chic. Insulated wooden pods with their own temperature control. It was very cozy and well decorated, too. Plus, our server was awesome and I never felt "forgotten" while sitting out there.To start, I tried the Nonna's Little Nip cocktail (grapefruit, campari, prosecco). They have two sizes (one at only $5, which is literally a little nip, so perfect if you want to sample). It was delightful and refreshing. I also tried their signature drink, the Margherita (tequila, calabrian chili honey, blood orange, fennel liquer). It was tasty, but I preferred the Little Nip.As for our meal, we started with the stuffed garlic flatbread, chrysanthemum salad and the BBQ calamari. Everything was so incredibly flavorful and fresh. As our main, we shared the lasagna for two and the stracchino gnocchi (with broccoli rabe, crispy garlic and shaved parmesan). Both were delicious, but that lasagna is probably one of the best meals I've ever had.We topped things off with the black cocoa tiramisu (it was lovely, but really didn't hold a candle to the rest of the meal) and an espresso (with a lil biscotti on the side).Overall, this is a can't-miss dining experience in New York. It's no wonder they have a Michelin star!

Start to finish Perfection!
It’s rare these days to have an experience that truly takes you away for a few hours. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated like old friends. The interior is warm and cozy but definitely full of energy. We were fortunate to grab a table on New Year’s Eve and there were even NYE party favors on the table. We decided to work our way through several dishes to try a variety of what they offered. My wife is a pescatarian and it was very easy to find things that were interesting and that we could share. We tried several items on the menu and were so impressed with the layers of flavors that we honestly could not pick a favorite. With that being said, a few MUST HAVES would be the stuffed garlic flatbread, chrysanthemum salad (out of this world), Sorpresine and smoked mussels and the Steak Al Limone (had that one to myself:)). However, you really can’t go wrong here. The service was fantastic!!! Our waiter Mikey became our new best friend. And, the rest of the team was all over it! We never needed anything. It was simply wonderful!!!!!! The entire Don Angie team really seems to do everything they can to make you feel at home. And, we did!!!!!! A definite must if you’re in the city!

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
