Don Angie New York Reviews from The Last Year
Devine Lasagna, excellent food.
Reservations are hard to get (they accept only on line reservations through Resy which I did not find efficient) so I walked 40+blocks to the restaurant to reserve a table 😅 as we were in New York for a very short visit. The Restaurant is in a nice locatiion at Greenwich, worth strolling around, ambience is simple and casual, service is excellent, menu is simple and more importantly food lives up to its reputation- that is its excellent! The lasagna were truly divine- a must try.
My dear friend was on a mission to celebrate me and after
My dear friend was on a mission to celebrate me and after lining up at 4pm like a teenager for a concert, 3 hours later I was sitting in this"hip" NYC restaurant with a forever" notify me" on the reservation app. Now, is it worth all this hype ?hell no. Ambiance: small, crowded, loud and dark, poor light design Food: The stuffed flatbread which by the "influencers" is a must. Verdict: simple flatbread you can find in other places nothing special Another must by the "influencers" is the $68 lasagna. What can possibly be in the lasagna to cost that much? Verdict: good, again nothing special, not worth $68 Chrysanthemum salad: Verdict : just a voluminous salad with parmesan which you can find everywhere Garganelli Giganti:" broken meatball rags sauce" just to say bolognese really. Verdict: mine is better at home Tiramisu: Verdict" mediocre" heavy and dense Wines expensive and service expedient- will I line up for table? hell no!
We waited at 3:10 to get a walk in seat by the bar.
There were at least 50 people in line. Service and the whole experience was definitely great as they're like a well oiled machine. We even got iced juice in little Don Angie cups while waiting in line. We were able to get seated when they opened at the bar. They don't take food orders until 4pm. I liked that Nonna's Little Nip was only $6 and just enough for me for an early bird dinner. Everyone ordered the flatbread, chrysanthemum salad and lasagna. We didn't want as many carbs and chose the house salami and cheese, which came with delicious savory waffle crackers. Chrysanthemum salad was piled with parmesan, sesame crisps. Definitely the highlight for me! If you're like me and have not had chrysanthemum, it's like a lighter version of arugula, not as bitter. Finally the main dishes were delicious but both a bit on the saltier and saucier side. The shell steak was very lemony, like fully infused with lemon. The sopresine had a great al dente texture, but a bit too much sauce for us as it's a sweet and savory sauce. For the price we paid, it was a really great experience for a former Michelin star restaurant!
Don Angie is among the most coveted tables on Resy and for
Don Angie is among the most coveted tables on Resy and for good reason; if you're among the lucky people who can snag a reservation, be sure to order some of our favorites and enjoy the cozy environment. "Our Lasagna" - this dish speaks for itself, and is what Don Angie is known for. The pinwheel-style dish is as tasty as it looks, with Italian sausage bolognese and perfectly textured pasta. Sourdough Pasta Cacciatore - beautiful, slightly chewy, al dente noodles, slightly tart because of the olives Sopresine & Smoked Mussels - mussels were so tender, cilantro was a nice touch Japanese sweet potatoes - a bit out of place for the menu but one of my favorite things we ordered. Potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
Couldn't get reservations so we got on line a little before
Couldn't get reservations so we got on line a little before opening and were able to get seated right away. I wish they sat us at an actual table instead of the bar, there were tables open the whole time we were there. Otherwise great service and even better food. We ordered a bunch of menu items and they were all delicious.
Unparalleled customer service.
Delicious food. Creative drinks. We have been trying to book Don Angie's for the better part of a year on a recommendation from a server at Don Angie's sister restaurant Bad Roman, an equally good restaurant. We asked for a reservation for our anniversary. Gabrielle responded and offered us a table. We went! As first timers, Robyn, our server, guided us through the menu and suggested many of the restaurant's signature drinks and dishes. To cool down, Two Yoots and Lollo's Spritz were so refreshing on a hot NYC summer day. The Chrysanthemum Salad with a heaping serving of parmesan cheese provided a delicious introduction to Don Angie's entrees. The crispy cheese and sesame bites in the salad offered a nice contrast to the fresh chrysanthemum and dressing. Next came the Lasagna and the Veal "Da Pepi". Robyn paired the next course with a nice glass of wine. The veal cutlet was excellent and was creatively combined with Italian cured meat and salad. The Lasagna lived to the hype and met all expectations of taste, texture and presentation exactly as social media and the photos catch, except for the lemon seed in the lasagna. Once Robyn and the management team discovered the mistake in the lasagna, they moved into action and took care of the situation and brought another lasagna dish to the table. That was not the end. Dessert and after dinner drinks included Don Angie's Black Cocoa Tiramisu, The Italian Coffee Situation and the Root Beer Amaro. The Crispy Feuilletine added an unexpected crunch to the dessert. And the after dinner drinks were a nice cap to a delicious, detailed and surprising dining experience. All in all, the kitchen, the bartenders, restaurant staff and customer service from Gabrille, to Robyn to the management team provided a memorable Anniversary celebration. We will be back again (if we get a Resy ;)).
Excellent dishes and great service! I was so thankful we
Excellent dishes and great service! I was so thankful we were able to get a reservation for my birthday and really appreciated the staff's hospitality :) Every worker was very attentive to your needs and very friendly. I loved each dish and every dish was packed with a delightfully, unexpected amount of flavor. I would highly recommend the Stuffed Garlic Flatbread, Our Lasagna, and the Buffalo Milk Caramelle. The Buffalo Milk Caramelle would be the most unique dish as it's a pasta that I've never tasted before. It's a slightly sweet yet savory pasta but not heavy. The Stuffed Garlic Flatbread is very crispy on the outside and covered in sesame seeds. The inside of the Flatbread was the perfect amount of cheese with the perfect amount of seasoning. My favorite Italian dish is lasagna, so I was very excited to try this! I loved how they designed the lasagna in an untraditional way but still maintained the traditional lasagna taste. Each layer was so delicate and thin but full of flavor. It looked so good the customer next to me asked what I ordered as she was very interested in the dish. Highly recommend Don Angie if you love Italian food!
It's truly impossible to score a resy here and it's
It's truly impossible to score a resy here and it's honestly easier to just lineup. We arrived a little before 4pm on July 4th (they were open for regular weekday hours). The host came out to take everyone's preferred time slots and seating preference at 4:30. We opted for bar seating and we made the cut so we were seated immediately. The restaurant is pretty small which probably adds to the difficulty of scoring a table reservation. Apps- We LOVED the chrysanthemum salad, the herbiness of the veggie cuts through the richness of the dressing. I could skip the stuffed garlic flatbread because i didn't love the cheese filling but the dough is fluffy and flakey! Main- The lasagna is good, even for someone who is not a huge lasagna lover. Their sauce is balanced and the pasta is perfectly al dente. The meat is seasoned well too but I could only finish one lasagna roll. The foccacia it comes with is also so fluffy and buttery! Is it mind blowingly amazing? Probably not. The japanese sweet potatoes are coated in a garlicky dressing and very flavorful! This was so unique and I enjoyed it. We initially ordered the chicken as another main but were luckily able to cancel because we were stuffeddd. Dessert- The tiramisu is what won me over for sure!!! Best tiramisu I've ever had, I loved the flakey, butter cookie layer. It added a nice crunch and it wasn't just mouthfuls of cream and ladyfingers like tiramisu usually is. Overall, I enjoyed my experience but have to say Don Angie is a bit overhyped considering how difficult it is to dine here. It is definitely still worth trying!! BUT, having gone to San Sabino a month before this, I actually prefer San Sabino over Don Angie!
Visit here second time, and finally got the reservation for
Visit here second time, and finally got the reservation for an indoor dining, still recommend to book ahead to skip the long waiting line. Love the interior, classic and comfort for date or group of friends The food is good, my friend went to Italy a couple of years ago, and said it is good as most of the restaurant intaly.
Waiting on line starting at 3:45pm and was seated right
Waiting on line starting at 3:45pm and was seated right when they opened (5pm). We sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome!! The salad is a must get (and I don't usually order salad) Lasagna- really delicious but a little on the salty side. BEST THING was the Tiramisu!! Not your typical tiramisu- different types of layers and just perfect. I want it everyday.
I'm taking a lot into consideration in coming up with this
I'm taking a lot into consideration in coming up with this review. First of all, this is a near impossible reservation to get. After trying several times, I finally got a 4:30 reservation for my party. Space is crowded and busy even at that time. Our table was next to the one bathroom so it wasn't an ideal table. Service was adequate. I do wish the server told us we way over ordered when I asked bc a lot of food went to waste for a party of 5. Drinks were good. The crudo was excellent and we also enjoyed the calamari. The cheese bread was a little heavy and overrated. We were so looking forward to entrees but I was really underwhelmed. I felt like the overwhelming flavor of the evening was salt. The lasagna was salty and overpriced. I did not see what the wow was about. I also was not a fan of the texture of the chicken scarpiello. The sausage as a layer sounded interesting but I wasn't wowed. The sweet potatoes were good but heavy and would have been a nice pairing to a fish but was a heavy side next to all the pastas we got. we tried several pastas and while fine, nothing stood out as memorable. im sorry to say this bc i was really looking forward to this meal. service kind of checked out towards the end. a napkin fell on the floor after the entree, before desserts. it was picked up and not replaced. we tried the well regarded tiramisu and it was not balanced. it needed more cream and less crumbs. all in all for the price of the final bill, speed of the meal (way too short) and tough ticket to get, i will not return.
Great!
Loved the buffalo milk caramelle, and the lasagna changed my perceptions of what a good lasagna is.
Great experience
Love this restaurant. The best lasagna pinwheels available. And the chrysanthemum salad is terrific. The staff was very helpful and we had such a great time celebrating my sister's birthday (70) and first trip to NYC. I would highly recommend!
Delicious !
The lasagna was just as amazing as expected ! I got the caramelle pasta to start and it was also delicious , the pork was tender and a nice entree choice as well. We ended with the tiramisu which was a delight and different from traditional ones I’ve had , it had a little crunch to it which reminded me of an elevated Frosted Flakes mixed in.
The salad and the lobster dish were amazing!! Service was
The salad and the lobster dish were amazing!! Service was good. The ambiance is nice. I definitely will be going there often. Only problem is that it's hard to get reservations.
Don Angie definitely lives up to the hype! I was lucky
Don Angie definitely lives up to the hype! I was lucky enough to get a reservation for Saturday night and the food was incredible. We started with the stuffed garlic bread, the chrysanthemum salad and the bbq calamari which were all so flavorful! We then had the buffalo milk caramelle, the famous lasagna and the veal! All three dishes were so good! And for dessert, we had the tiramisu. The vibes were great and our waiter Cesar was awesome! It was definitely a memorable dinner and I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town!
Well executed variations on the classic Italian dishes.
Best enjoyed through family style sharing of dishes in a larger group (in my opinion). I still think about some of the dishes I had from Don Angie, and I'm looking forward to the next opportunity I get to go. I was able to try 7 dishes, with my favorite 3 being the Lasagna for Two, Japanese Sweet Potatoes, and Tiramisu. The Lasagna is a significant amount of food for two people, but tastes great and isn't as heavy or greasy as traditional lasagna. As for the Japanese Sweet Potatoes, they had a slightly crisp outside and were cooked perfectly - I could have ate the whole dish myself. I loved every bite of the Tiramisu and if I went back I would have to get it no matter what, it wasn't overly sweet or soggy. Since I ate with 4 other people we all had different preferences but everyone found a dish they enjoyed, which is why I recommend going family style so you can try a variety of dishes. We sat outside in the cabanas and in my eyes it was preferable to dining inside. There was more space in the outdoor cabanas, the outdoors seating was lighted (the inside area dimly lit since it was dinnertime), however this depends on your preferences. Lastly, we were able to snag a reservation by having our Resy set to notify and picked up a time that was dropped; I had tried getting a reservation on Resy right when they dropped but was unsuccessful multiple times.
Eating dinner while it's still daylight isn't my ideal, but
Eating dinner while it's still daylight isn't my ideal, but sometimes you gotta settle with the 5:30 PM res if dining at Don Angie is what your heart desires. It is what it is. I fancy myself somewhat of a Resy veteran, but this has been an elusive one for me. I've also heard almost nothing short of glowing reviews, so my expectations were sky high going in. I'm sorry to say my life wasn't changed today, and I probably won't be duking it out with my fellow Priority Notify folks for another res any time soon (had to flex the platty card I don't pay that yearly fee for nothin), but it was a good meal. I don't think I'm a big chrysanthemum fan, but I imagine this is probably about as good as it gets. The lasagna for two (at a whopping $68) was good but I expected better. Tiramisu was meh. Service was good! Nice atmosphere as well. Not a Don Angie stan but glad to have tried it.
10000/10.
everything was amazing!!!!!! The Lasagna lived up to the hype and was unreal. The japanese sweet potatoes were surprisingly one of my favorite things and the tiramisu is a MUST!!!!
1 star because we could not get in!! Why be on Resy when
1 star because we could not get in!! Why be on Resy when you really do not take reservations on that platform! We specifically wanted to go there. Got up early am went on line at 9 am. Boom! Nothing available for 7 days in advance. had no real opportunity to make a reservation. Showed up for dinner at 430 pm on a Sunday to give it a shot. Already committed for the evening! Host was rude and aloof! Would never give this place our money! Way too many great Italian places in nyc!!
Just the best dinning experience thus far for 2024.
Very warm yet modern space with wood finishes and brass details. The ceiling is lined with fabric panels so it gives the space a soft touch, maybe even absorb sounds so the space is lively but not loud at full capacity. Love our server as she gave expert suggestions on what to order based on our preferences and waited patiently for a moment as we are wrapping up our conversation before taking our order! I know everyone goes here for the lasagna but I really want to highlight the other pasta dishes cause they are truly unique. The Buffalo Milk Caramelle was this smooth savory nutty sweet with kumquats and sesame. The chewy and textured sourdough pasta pairs well the smokiness of the mezcal braised chicken. Gnocchi was stuffed with creamy stracciatella, balanced with a slight bitterness from the broccoli rabe and crunchy garlic. We also loved the chrysanthemum salad. While the shavings of parm look excessive or just for the gram, it actually works perfectly with all the component of the dish! An unexpected winner for my husband was the Japanese sweet potato side dish. Each piece was like a perfect tater tot, crispy on the outside and soft pillowy on the inside yet they are chunks of actual sweet potato. The sumac was the right amount to acidity for the dish. Our mind was blown. Must order! Do not skip dessert! The caramelized pear sortbetto was just so refreshing yet satisfying on a warm spring day. Caramelized wedges of pears were definitely the highlight! Pro tip: yes, do order the lasagna but to-go as it heats up almost just as well and you can have the best of both pasta world at Don Angie.
Worth the hype? like all the 'impossible to get' italian
Worth the hype? like all the 'impossible to get' italian tables in nyc, probably not. But that doesn't mean the food isn't good because it's pretty great. All the famous dishes you've read about are pretty memorable and worth trying since you'll likely never go to the effort to go back. Service is surprsingly amazing here with servers and staff being helpful and extremely professional. It's not their first rodeo. Food: 9/10 Value: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Vibe: 7/10
Tried the TikTok viral restaurant.
It used to be a Michelin one-star in 2021 and 2022. Although it has lost its Michelin star last year, I still think it's my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC so far. Had a fantastic experience here! The salad turned out to be a game-changer. As someone who typically shies away from salads, Don Angie's version won me over with its unique flavors and freshness. Each bite was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. Don Angie lived up to its viral acclaim. My friend and I walked in at 9:15 pm, and we got seated in 20 minutes!! Strongly recommend this way of dining.
By far the best lasagna and Caesar salad I've ever had in
By far the best lasagna and Caesar salad I've ever had in my life. Ambiance and service is top notch. My only request is not to make it so difficult to make a reservation.
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming ambiance. The modern yet cozy decor set the stage for a delightful evening. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and offering excellent recommendations. The food was simply exquisite. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with bold flavors that left me wanting more. The standout for me was the Lasagna for Two, a culinary masterpiece that was both visually stunning and incredibly delicious. The layers of pasta, meat, and cheese were perfectly balanced, and the crispy edges added a delightful texture. Every bite was a revelation. Another highlight was the Rigatoni, which was cooked to perfection and served with a flavorful Bolognese sauce. The combination of textures and flavors was divine, and I savored every mouthful. To top it all off, the dessert selection was equally impressive. The Olive Oil Cake was moist and flavorful, and the Tiramisu was a perfect blend of coffee and creamy goodness. Overall, Don Angie is a must-visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in New York City. The food, service, and ambiance are all top-notch, and I can't wait to return.
Might be an obsession
Great experience once again. The chrysanthemum salad and lasagna are a must have!
Best food I’ve ever had
My fiancé and I are lucky enough to say we have eaten in some of the best places in the world and I am please to say that Don Angie absolutely smashed it out of the park. The service was great. Food incredible. We shared the calamari to start and the lasagne for our main. Uttery delicious. We arrived at 4:30 to put our name on the list and were seated about an hour and a half later. GO.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
