The salad and the lobster dish were amazing!! Service was good. The ambiance is nice. I definitely will be going there often. Only problem is that it's hard to get reservations.

Don Angie definitely lives up to the hype! I was lucky enough to get a reservation for Saturday night and the food was incredible. We started with the stuffed garlic bread, the chrysanthemum salad and the bbq calamari which were all so flavorful! We then had the buffalo milk caramelle, the famous lasagna and the veal! All three dishes were so good! And for dessert, we had the tiramisu. The vibes were great and our waiter Cesar was awesome! It was definitely a memorable dinner and I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town!
Be the first to ReplyWell executed variations on the classic Italian dishes.
Best enjoyed through family style sharing of dishes in a larger group (in my opinion). I still think about some of the dishes I had from Don Angie, and I'm looking forward to the next opportunity I get to go. I was able to try 7 dishes, with my favorite 3 being the Lasagna for Two, Japanese Sweet Potatoes, and Tiramisu. The Lasagna is a significant amount of food for two people, but tastes great and isn't as heavy or greasy as traditional lasagna. As for the Japanese Sweet Potatoes, they had a slightly crisp outside and were cooked perfectly - I could have ate the whole dish myself. I loved every bite of the Tiramisu and if I went back I would have to get it no matter what, it wasn't overly sweet or soggy. Since I ate with 4 other people we all had different preferences but everyone found a dish they enjoyed, which is why I recommend going family style so you can try a variety of dishes. We sat outside in the cabanas and in my eyes it was preferable to dining inside. There was more space in the outdoor cabanas, the outdoors seating was lighted (the inside area dimly lit since it was dinnertime), however this depends on your preferences. Lastly, we were able to snag a reservation by having our Resy set to notify and picked up a time that was dropped; I had tried getting a reservation on Resy right when they dropped but was unsuccessful multiple times.

Eating dinner while it's still daylight isn't my ideal, but sometimes you gotta settle with the 5:30 PM res if dining at Don Angie is what your heart desires. It is what it is. I fancy myself somewhat of a Resy veteran, but this has been an elusive one for me. I've also heard almost nothing short of glowing reviews, so my expectations were sky high going in. I'm sorry to say my life wasn't changed today, and I probably won't be duking it out with my fellow Priority Notify folks for another res any time soon (had to flex the platty card I don't pay that yearly fee for nothin), but it was a good meal. I don't think I'm a big chrysanthemum fan, but I imagine this is probably about as good as it gets. The lasagna for two (at a whopping $68) was good but I expected better. Tiramisu was meh. Service was good! Nice atmosphere as well. Not a Don Angie stan but glad to have tried it.

everything was amazing!!!!!! The Lasagna lived up to the hype and was unreal. The japanese sweet potatoes were surprisingly one of my favorite things and the tiramisu is a MUST!!!!

1 star because we could not get in!! Why be on Resy when you really do not take reservations on that platform! We specifically wanted to go there. Got up early am went on line at 9 am. Boom! Nothing available for 7 days in advance. had no real opportunity to make a reservation. Showed up for dinner at 430 pm on a Sunday to give it a shot. Already committed for the evening! Host was rude and aloof! Would never give this place our money! Way too many great Italian places in nyc!!
Be the first to ReplyJust the best dinning experience thus far for 2024.
Very warm yet modern space with wood finishes and brass details. The ceiling is lined with fabric panels so it gives the space a soft touch, maybe even absorb sounds so the space is lively but not loud at full capacity. Love our server as she gave expert suggestions on what to order based on our preferences and waited patiently for a moment as we are wrapping up our conversation before taking our order! I know everyone goes here for the lasagna but I really want to highlight the other pasta dishes cause they are truly unique. The Buffalo Milk Caramelle was this smooth savory nutty sweet with kumquats and sesame. The chewy and textured sourdough pasta pairs well the smokiness of the mezcal braised chicken. Gnocchi was stuffed with creamy stracciatella, balanced with a slight bitterness from the broccoli rabe and crunchy garlic. We also loved the chrysanthemum salad. While the shavings of parm look excessive or just for the gram, it actually works perfectly with all the component of the dish! An unexpected winner for my husband was the Japanese sweet potato side dish. Each piece was like a perfect tater tot, crispy on the outside and soft pillowy on the inside yet they are chunks of actual sweet potato. The sumac was the right amount to acidity for the dish. Our mind was blown. Must order! Do not skip dessert! The caramelized pear sortbetto was just so refreshing yet satisfying on a warm spring day. Caramelized wedges of pears were definitely the highlight! Pro tip: yes, do order the lasagna but to-go as it heats up almost just as well and you can have the best of both pasta world at Don Angie.

Worth the hype? like all the 'impossible to get' italian tables in nyc, probably not. But that doesn't mean the food isn't good because it's pretty great. All the famous dishes you've read about are pretty memorable and worth trying since you'll likely never go to the effort to go back. Service is surprsingly amazing here with servers and staff being helpful and extremely professional. It's not their first rodeo. Food: 9/10 Value: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Vibe: 7/10
Be the first to ReplyTried the TikTok viral restaurant.
It used to be a Michelin one-star in 2021 and 2022. Although it has lost its Michelin star last year, I still think it's my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC so far. Had a fantastic experience here! The salad turned out to be a game-changer. As someone who typically shies away from salads, Don Angie's version won me over with its unique flavors and freshness. Each bite was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. Don Angie lived up to its viral acclaim. My friend and I walked in at 9:15 pm, and we got seated in 20 minutes!! Strongly recommend this way of dining.

By far the best lasagna and Caesar salad I've ever had in my life. Ambiance and service is top notch. My only request is not to make it so difficult to make a reservation.

From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming ambiance. The modern yet cozy decor set the stage for a delightful evening. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and offering excellent recommendations. The food was simply exquisite. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with bold flavors that left me wanting more. The standout for me was the Lasagna for Two, a culinary masterpiece that was both visually stunning and incredibly delicious. The layers of pasta, meat, and cheese were perfectly balanced, and the crispy edges added a delightful texture. Every bite was a revelation. Another highlight was the Rigatoni, which was cooked to perfection and served with a flavorful Bolognese sauce. The combination of textures and flavors was divine, and I savored every mouthful. To top it all off, the dessert selection was equally impressive. The Olive Oil Cake was moist and flavorful, and the Tiramisu was a perfect blend of coffee and creamy goodness. Overall, Don Angie is a must-visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in New York City. The food, service, and ambiance are all top-notch, and I can't wait to return.

Like many of you I have been trying to come to Don Angie for a very long time. And like many of you I could not get a reservation. Luckily I planned it out and walked in at 4:30 for bar seating (bar seating is first come first serve, very limited spots available, starts 3:30 on Friday and weekend nights and 4:30 Monday through Friday).Because I was at the bar, the ambiance and a two hour meal was not what I had top of mind. Although the meal was over an hour, and the bar seating was nice, those chairs are uncomfortable! But enough of that, we're all here for the food reviews.Deconstructed Lasagna: 9/10Yes, it was as delicious as it looks. This is definitely one of the best lasagnas I have had.... But it's still just lasagna. I'm not obsessed with lasagna or pasta, so I wouldn't give an arm and a leg to come back here for this dish. BBQ Calamari: 10/10Yes and yes! This dish is slept on! Pepperoni fried rice?? It's an innovative dish that tastes delicious! This is what really blew my mind. The calamari was nicely cooked. It wasn't too chewy but soft and tender. The fried rice was a big oily but crispy and tasted fabulous. I highly recommend this dish if you want a fun appetizer.Tiramisu: 8/10I love tiramisu but I don't even know if this qualifies as tiramisu. There is a THICK layer of cocoa powder - I actually inhaled it and was choking - and then a thin layer of cream before you hit a mountain of crunchy butterscotch chips and then a layer of chocolate cake. There are too many dry ingredients and this is not tiramisu. They also serve it up in a small cocktail glass to make it look fancy but it's so impractical when it comes to eating it! You dip your spoon in and everything is falling off the edge... why are we trying so hard here. The flavor itself is delicious! I think it's incredibly sweet though. If you're expecting tiramisu you will probably be overwhelmed by how sweet this is. For this to be better I would say serve it on a plate PLEASE and then add more cream and please don't choke me with cocoa powder.

Best lasagna of my life and has lived up to that moniker every time ive gone back. That is not to say the remainder of the offerings arent great in their own light, those would be the star of the show at any other restaurant.

Have you ever been in love with someone? Have you ever had a woman fulfill all your needs and desires? Your match, you're perfect somebody,or as some would say, your puzzle piece. All this stuff becomes sub par and irrelevant once you sit down here and have the first bite of lasagna. You start to realize the true meaning of life is not about finding your soul mate and reproducing; it's really just about the lasagna rolls at Don Angie. And here's the best part, you can take them home with you and eat them in your bed, and if you don't finish them, you just stuff them in your fridge.

Everything seasoned and flavored so beautifully!!!! The pasta had a nice chewy texture and the lasagna was just the right amount of cheesy. The pesce alla griglia might be the best cooked fish dish I've had so far! I also loved all the desserts. The tiramisu was super strong coffee flavor and had a good balance of mascarpone. The mochi was surprisingly delightful! Loved the use of olive oil and salt to heighten bring out the flavor of the ice cream. Our waiter was also absolutely amazing with recommending menu items and provided a wonderful dining experience!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent from start to finish.
Every staff member from the minute you walk in is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Ambiance is quiet and classy but also a homey feel. Got three appetizers, with the chrysanthemum salad being the best. 4 entrees which were all delicious. The lasagna definitely lives up to the hype. Got all three desserts. Tiramisu also lives up to the hype. 5/5 stars will be back if I'm lucky enough to get a reservation.

Overall, it was a great meal with a few standout dishes and a couple of misses.I highly recommend the Japanese Sweet Potatoes. They were simply amazing - perfectly sauced, and paired surprisingly well with pasta. This side stole the show! The lasagna was also quite good and would be a perfect choice for a group of three people to share, with two rolled lasagnas per person. Presentation was perfection. You can't go to Don Angie's and not try this dish! Moving on to the sides, the garlic bread was fine, but it's more dense and less garlicky than I hoped. The salad was not particularly memorable. In retrospect, I wish I ordered a Bloody Mary. We were definitely jealous of the people who were served theirs as we were leaving. If you're having a hard time getting a reservation, try going at 11:30 when they open! You'll get the place to yourself and the best service, before it gets busy + loud.

What can I say about DonAngie that hasn't already been said??? Get the Lasagna??? LOLI'll try a different angle.....We were greeted warmly on a cold Tuesday night by the host asking if were ok with sitting at the bar - walking in and getting seated at one of the toughest spots to snag a reservation - Yes we are more than ok with that!! The host came back and chatted with us several times, the bartenders were outstanding and friendly, a waiter warmly jumped into our conversation when he heard my daughter is attending his Alma Mata. It felt like we were dinning in a local neighborhood restaurant where we were "part of the family"!!!Oh yeah - the food is amazing too!!!!

Be the first to ReplyHonestly best meal of my life.
Perfect date night or special occasion vibes. The hostess and our waitress were so kind and helpful. Truly after biting into the lasagna, I had to stop for a moment because it was just that good. Also, the steak with lemon blew me away!! Who knew those two things go together so well?! It was a great quality piece of meat with so much flavor and tenderness. I would come back any day. My only regret is not buying the cookbook there.
Be the first to ReplyLooooooove Don Angie's.
I had a table of six, and we ordered several of the dishes. It's a couple weeks later, and i'm still thinking about the lasagna and the salad. The reservation is hard to get, but even if you can go at 9pm it's worth it! The service wasn't as astounding as I would expect for this level of restaurant. We didn't see much of our server, but the food was so delicious it didn't matter. I hope I can go again, but it's so hard to get a reservation. Go if you get the opportunity and order the lasagna!

My favorite spot in the city!! I've loved everything from here but their sourdough pasta is my fave. I could order two of these and leave happy. Their lasagna is a close second for me. Service is great, the girl that hosts on the weekends (I think her name is Alyssa?) is even better! She was really sweet to provide me with comedy club recommendations last time I was there. Need to make reservations of arrive thirty minutes before opening to nab a table but it's so worth it!

Long story short I discovered there were 5-10 Italian restaurants in the city that had very difficult reservations to get. As silly as this sounds, this exclusivity factor is what made me embark on a quest to try as many of these restaurants as possible.Comparing with restaurants like via carota, misi, L'artusi, and I sodi, this was by far the most average of the bunch. The restaurant is a simple room with a bar, and a handful of tables. Service was extremely fast. We started with the flatbread, fried rice, and the salad. I will say the salad was good, and the fried rice was a fun twist, but everything was extremely salty and the flavors one dimensional. Following this we went with the lasagna, of course, and the sourdough pasta, which we got by accident? Accompanying this we got the sweet potatoes. The lasagna is beautiful, and it is good, however I would say it's something you could definitely try just once solely to say you had it. It is just lasagna after all, and it certainly was not anything mind blowing. The sourdough pasta I'd skip. Potatoes were tasty though. The ambience is heavily lacking, as you feel you could be in any restaurant, both in terms of service and environment. That was honestly my biggest gripe with the restaurant amongst the other issues. Is it worth a try once, sure, but please don't jump through any hoops to go to this place.
