DineLA week is so fun- I get to try new restaurants in the neighborhood. I ventured on PCH to Dukes, which is located on the beach and has a spectacular ocean view. Valet parking -$6- reasonable. The hostess seated us at an outdoor table at the very end of the restaurant and walking through the restaurant, there was an ocean view from each table. Ambiance- 4 stars.Special DineLA lunch menu -$25 for 2 entrees. I ordered the coconut shrimp- crispy and yummy. The Sauteed Mac Nut and Herb Crusted Halibut was delicious, served with Hawaiian macaroni salad and rice- the halibut was perfectly prepared, not over cooked. Dessert- hula pie- so large that we split it three ways and still too much ice cream ( yes I said it!). Delicious. Food -4 stars.Service -4 stars. The restaurant was very crowded and the food was delivered in 15 minutes of ordering. The server was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Duke's and look forward to returning!
😍
Service was organized and friendly.
They quoted us a time for the wait and they were exactly the quoted time. Are meals were perfectly done. The raviolis and rocket salad was amazing. My husband ordered the chicken and ribs plate and it came with amazing side dishes that were just as yummy. This place comes highly recommended service and Food were outstanding.
😍
Had a birthday brunch on Sunday with friends .
What a nice time we had. Service was excellent. we never wanted for anything. We were seated promptly without a reservation at 10:30ish with a window table. I ordered the crab wontons for appetizer , Two of us had the Dine La menu with the coconut shrimp and burger and bloody mary's for all of us. The birthday guy had the breakfast sandwich and my honey had the Avocado toast . Two of us had decaf and it's nice and strong. The bill was under $250 for 5 persons for brunch with drinks with a terrific view , no wait and didn't have to pay to park. We will be back!
🤮
The servers are kind of mean and I think slightly racists .
Food is ok but with customer service being poor food doesn't taste as great sadly .
😍
I dont write reviews often but the great service I recieved
I dont write reviews often but the great service I recieved here was amazing and the food blew my mind that ahi steak dish is pure gold I could probably eat it everyday no lie. Great view. The only negative is the wait on hot days. Server was Landon great guy great recommendations very knowledgable.
😍
Everything I had here was great! Fantastic ocean view.
Tried the dinner special. Coconut shrimp was breaded perfectly, the filet mignon was amazing and the hula pie for desert had to have been my favorite restaurant desert I've had. The POG rum cocktail is a highlight and will be my go to drink for when I come back here. Very satisfied and am looking forward to the next visit.
😍

We live down the street and come here for the generous portion of chicken nachos..great with a beer and obviously the view from barefoot bar!!

It would be really easy for this to just be an overpriced
It would be really easy for this to just be an overpriced tourist trap with really average food. But it's not. It's Malibu. It's right on the beach (actually looks like the ocean is eye level with the windows when you first walk in), it's great service, and it's amazing food. Not only is the seafood amazing but you know it's a good place when the broccolini is to die for. Everything we ordered was delicious. But the sautéed macadamia nut herb crusted fresh fish was "lick your plate" good. We've eaten fresh seafood on both coasts including down in Palm Beach and up in Boston and Maine. But this was one of the best seafood meals we've ever had. The fish was extremely fresh - no fishy taste at all. The baked Duke's fish was excellent as were the grilled fish tacos. The waiter was efficient, patient, and friendly. The front desk greeters were very friendly too. It is valet parking only unless you want to park on PCH. Valet cost $8 and even though several people tried to tip, the valet wouldn't accept it. We used Open Table to make reservations, and it was a smart move on a Friday night. There's also a cool history on the wall when you first walk in that tells Duke's story. There's a reason this place has been around a long time.
🙂
We came at lunch on a Thursday.
Parking was easy and we were seated right away. The view is great. I ordered poke tacos and they were good but small. It's expensive but you're paying for the view.
🙂
REAL NICE PLACE TO STOP ON PCH FOR LUNCH AS WE DID,VIEWS GOOD,FOOD AVERAGE TO GOOD
Pleasant enough place too eat at,has a vast surfing history, food we tried was average, clam chowder soup Luke warm, main course mistake and given wrong dish ( it was quiet) amended quickly by our waiter,as a way od apology given the Hula cake as recompense…do not miss this cake WOW and DOUBLE WOW…..good place too stop en route …
🙂
Kids and I love making the trek to Malibu to get us our fix
Kids and I love making the trek to Malibu to get us our fix of Hawaiian without traveling the 5 hour plane ride. Valet parking is $8. Or if it's not a weekend it may be easy enough to find street parking for free. Can't be the location and the view. Right off the PCH, see if you can snag a window seat to watch the waves crashing while dining. We always get the poke tacos, coconut shrimp, and sticky ribs. All tasty and great starters. For the main they have a wide array of seafood however love the ahi steak that comes with rice and bok choy. Thu/Fri they have a surf and turf menu. Do NOT miss the hula pie for dessert. An absolute MUST.

Dukes is right on the ocean
Great customer service oriented staff. Location right on the ocean. SA in bar area which was crowded but a pleasant clientele. Food is good - calimari might not be what you are used to. Reasonable pricing.
My family (2 adults and 2 children) spent a week in LA for spring break. We made a reservation for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. Duke's was his pick and it did not disappoint - great food and service and ambiance. Plus my husband received a comped slice of hula cake with a candle for his birthday. Highly recommend.
😍
Great location, very good food and perfect hospitality
We had lunch there: seared ahi bowl and sauteed fish of the day. Everything was very good, staff is very friendly and we enjoyed the seaview.
The hula pie for dessert is a must, but should be shared. It is giant!
Last but not least, we had a very nice chat with the real „Gidget“ who is the first iconic surfing women.
😍
Great View, Delicious Meal, Awesome Hula Pie
We stopped for late lunch and waited no more than 10 minutes for a table - and got a beautiful view of the ocean with the islands in the background. Wow! On a beautiful SoCal day, we enjoyed macadamia nut crusted halibut and bbq pork ribs. Big portions on both and very flavorful. We noticed everyone around us was ordering a big hunk of pie, so we left room for a piece of Hula Pie -- macadamia nut ice cream with Oreo crust with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. It was crazy good!!
Great fish and meet!
In love with the amazing view, specially during the sunset.
Try the tuna and the coconut shrimp!
We'll be back :)
😍
My 1st choice eatery when I travel to Cali a few times per year
The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection, only the freshest ingredients. Ocean front, nestled between the mountains and the ocean. Wonderful place to sit oceanside and enjoy incredible dolphin and whale sightings every time! The menu is fairly small, could expand that a bit. Never a bad experience. I've taken several people and suggested this place to numerous others. All positive feedback from them as well! Excellent hiking trails just directly across the HWY. Just go up the road a bit until you come across the trailhead.
Stopped by yesterday for lunch. Made a reservation but really didn’t need it because it wasn’t busy. The staff were all pleasant. Had a great waiter and our food was great/ I got the Huli Huli chicken and it was delish. For dessert we all shared a Hula Pie. Large portion. Fed 4 of us. Will def stopped in again when in the area. Great views as well.

Don’t order the Stake and Fries.Don’t go.
Today we had the worst stake meal ever. Firstly the restaurant is dated and the fit out has no story and no atmosphere. Only when it fills up with customers it feels ok. Otherwise it feels your eating in a old school hall,if it was not for the amazing position and the wonderful ocean views it would be so dull,a couple of pictures of Duke just is not enough. The stake was so small it was a joke we asked for it to be cooked medium it cone out well done burnt in some places, they could not even get the fry’s cooked properly over cooked oil saturated dark brown discussing, mushroom sauce tasty but no mushrooms bits, salad was the best element on plate and that was average, even the plating presentation was very pore.I understand this may be a old favourite for some but we were very disappointed with everything. The only positive was a lovely older lady that greeted us as we entered the Restaurant she might have been the owner,I’m sorry but our experience with all of it was horrible.
