Eight Tables by George Chen San Francisco Reviews from The Last 180 Days
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Eight Tables a few weeks ago. It was an incredible experience. Located above, and tucked away inside China Live in China Town. The restaurant has the same hostess, but a separate entrance. You go up an elevator, through hallways and your dining is opened just past a walls of wine, and a baby photo of Chef George Chen. The ambiance is exquisite with lightly stained tables tucked away for privacy. The mirrors tilted just so you can see the tables of other diners but not infringing on their privacy. The cuisine satisfies all of your senses. Without going into the details of every dish, I'll just say that this experience will leave you appreciating all of those little tastebuds in your mouth. You will enjoy and be surprised with every sensation your experience in each bite. We opted for the wagyu in addition to the regular menu which was more than enough, but worth the extra full stomachs afterwards. I recommend this place for a small party of friends or a special meal. Great experience overall.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant and I have to say the experience was pretty interesting. I was in SF with my bf and decided to try this chef tasting menu that everyone recommended. Got to this restaurant located in the heart of San Francisco and got a ressy through open table. I recommend booking in advance because the finer restaurants in SF are ore difficult to get a reservation. When we got there we were greeted by one of friendliest host who walked us up stairs to a different section. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and elegant. I kept telling my bf to take all these boomerangs. So the name of the restaurant gave away its presentation as there were exactly eight tables on the Premises. The chef tasting menu were presented with 15 high end Chinese foods which included a variety of different ingredients and preparation. My favorite were the sea bass, ducks and 9 different appetizers. I personally like our server he was so nice and super attentive. At the end they gave us a free breakfast item along with the menu. The experience was great but I was hoping for a better selection for the food, given how expensive it was for two people :)
We went to eight tables for dinner on 2/4/2022 to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The service (from front desk to all servers) are very professional, warming welcome, nicely introduce all courses..great service as good as Michelle's 3 stars restaurants. The review 2 stars for service only. But we were very disappointed the food tastes & quality. The first course -jiu gong he is good and special & 2nd course-Caviar"Dan Dan" is good. But from 3rd courses, the taste decrease one by one, especially the last main course whole braised branzino. Too badly, only fried , very fishy, fish meat is very woody, no taste, Pea shoots is bitter's. Service was nice to exchange to pork . But pork was very dry and hard to bite, the pea shoots is bitter also.sorry for my English. Below is my experience in Chinese. Just honestly to write what my experience , personal opinion, nothing else.很容易订位置,订好会收到:"this is Azura from Eight Tables. Our current address is at 644 Broadway through China Live, where the host at street level will escort your party to Eight Tables. Thank you."
Our incredible experience left us certain that this restaurant is Michelin Star bound! Eight Tables did not only excel in quality of food, but blew us away with the ambiance, service, and decor. We opted to do the 10 course food and wine pairing, and interestingly enough, the fine chinese dishes were paired with all French wines. We felt the pairings were exquisite. Each dish was better than the next. Ensure you aren't driving if you do the pairing because the food portions are small and the wine pours are heavy. Needless to say, we had an absolute blast! Our server was super knowledgeable and passionate about the cuisine (we can't remember his name, from Austria). We especially enjoyed the caviar selection (Dan Ta) and the Tea Smoked Squab. Also to be mentioned, before the meal got started we enjoyed the house Old Fashioned. It is our favorite cocktail, so we review them all over the world. This one had the essence of Pecking Duck and was actually one of our all time favorites. Just unique enough while maintaining the perfect balance this cocktail is known for.All in all, we highly recommend you experience this unique restaurant in China Town!
My Chinese stomach didn't really like it.Ambience and decoration was great. Service was goodWine pairing was disappointing.I would have given maybe three stars but unfortunately I found a bug in my dumpling which was absolutely gross. The server did take care of the wine pairing (for one person) and the add on for truffle After every accommodation it's still over 300 per person with tax and fee and I expect better quality food and wine
Went there with family and friends recently for my birthday. All courses were amazing and inventive. Loved the opening degustation course; nine bites with a different flavor for each. My favorite was "numb". I have never tasted anything like it before. Service staff was impeccable and always prompt. Wine pairings were top notch. Would go again.
Listen and believe all those ONE star review it is true and honest I believe and now the questions is about the five stars review then you say which one is true but I can tell you TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIND OUT WITH UR HARD EARN MONEY STAY AWAY THE BEST CHOICE
First of all, the restaurant itself is modern, yet classy and each one of their 8 tables feels pretty private. I think there were about 9 courses, but this was more than enough food. The food itself stayed true to its Chinese roots and everything was delicious. One of my favorites was the caviar with silken tofu. So innovative, and it wasn't with creme fraiche! They also have a excellent selection of high quality teas. Service was outstanding, everyone was friendly and attentive, and it didn't feel pretentious at all. The plates for each course were the most beautiful I've ever seen, by a French company called Legle. They even send you home with a goodie bag of their yuzu morning cake and menu.
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
