Mediocre
Outdoor seating was a plus but the food was not good. There were three of us and we ordered many dishes and all were unfortunately disappointing. On a weekend night both indoor and outdoor tables were full so apparently it's a popular spot.

Elea has the best food, a great ambiance. The fried vegetables and the small plates were to die for. Also try the Samos white dessert wine. It was spectacular.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, with a rare service passion
Food was excellent, had my wife and 15 & 20 year old kids. A most memorable evening. I had the lamb chops which were three very large chops, not fatty cooked perfectly. My wife had the fillet, son the short ribs and daughter the chicken. All were excellent. I asked the manager Angelo for a Greek wine selection which was nebblio grape similar to italian borollo. I mentioned to him the Italian's didn't have to worry about competition and he was so kind to comp us our deserts, totally unnecessary, but a person who deeply cares about the customer experience, a more rare craft in today's age. Will definitely be going back next month.

Exceptional Greek food in an upscale and lovely venue. Probably the best Greek food in New York City, and certainly in this upscale neighborhood.
Be the first to ReplyLovely and delicious Greek night out
I can really only judge this restaurant on two things - the food and the service. We sat at an outside table on a lovely June night so I never ventured farther than the front door. The outside dining was cramped but still enjoyable. I would say that the food was out of this world but my husband had a somewhat disappointing spanakopita. We shared 3 of the dips which were just fantastic and I had their grilled octopus which was so delicious I'm still dreaming of it. It was the best I've ever had and I highly recommend it. The service could not have been better. It was a very nice dining experience. Those guys get it.
Be the first to ReplyGeneric Med cuisine, not authentic Greek
I love Greek food and was excited when Elea arrived on the Upper West Side. But no self-respecting Greek restaurant should serve a salad featuring shrimp in which the shrimp are cut up into bite-sized pieces! If you put the pieces together, the Elea salad might have 3 shrimp on it. If that. The ambiance is pleasant although generic, the live jazz is nice on weekends, but the menu is not the authentic Greek cuisine I was hoping for. Lining the rim of a Bloody Mary glass with oregano does not a Greek restaurant make!

Starting with fig martini, this place has a great bar with talented bartenders. The tables inside are comfortable and good for a group of 4. Loved everything. Pretty much every app, all the salads, the cauliflower fritters, octopus, and fresh fish. Can't wait to return.
Be the first to ReplyVery good Greek option
Ordered for takeout for a bunch of days.
Fish soup, salad, 3 main dishes, one chicken kebab with fries, one seafood, one vegetables, and side spinach. Also, bread. All food was good.
Great food, great service
we had a lovely meal, with the very nicest of servers. Especially recommend the octopus and choice of three spreads with toasted pita. Good Greek wine as well.

Warm, competent staff. Really tasty food, from the dips to the potatoes, Swiss chard & fabulous snapper. Waitress offered good guidance. Excellent hospitality & lovely room.

The service was terrific and the ambiance was lovely. The food was delicious. We loved our fish dishes! Truly a great place on the upper west side.

Simply the best Greek restaurant in New York City. The fish is beautifully prepared and the appetizers (zucchini chips, dips, etc.) are extraordinary.
Be the first to ReplyUpper West Side's Upscale Greek
After reading a review in New York Magazine, I decided to try it for a friend's birthday dinner. The staff is beyond friendly and accomodating, even with the ravenous hordes that kept growing after our arrival. Having grown up in Queens, I am more used to traditional "homestyle" Greek dishes. Elea gives a sophisticated riff on these dishes with no loss in flavour and with a very modern presentation. The only negatives were that the outdoor seating was a bit cramped and at times the noise level made it difficult to hear my dining companions.
Be the first to ReplyLamb chops heaven
The service, the food, the details, everything surpassed our expectations!!!!!!!!! Lamb chops, Tuna, Orzotto, Lemony potatoes and the chocolate mousse cake were our favorites
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Greek food on the Upper West Side
This was not the first time I ate at Elea. Following a surprise visit there a few months back I took my husband and friends recently for a meal. We sat downstairs in the cool lower level which was a quiet and super atmosphere to chat and catchup. The food is exceptional for all palates. Vegetarian, meat, fish dishes- all are catered with sophistication in the preparation and most importantly, great flavor. The service was friendly and ready to offer suggestions with wine choices. Altogether another wonderful experience. I look forward to returning on a regular basis. From the numbers of people dining there last night this is a hot spot on the Upper West Side - with good reason.

Perfect for meeting friends or a romantic dinner. Very nice inside and lots of tables outside. Upscale neighborhood with lots of people watching. The wine list is extensive with all levels of pricing. Very solid Greek food with many choices. This is a really nice spot to make a first impression.
