After reading reviews my group went in with high hopes, however we left hungry as everyone found the food pretty much inedible. Food is not traditional Mexican, not one item was something you would typically find at a Mexican restaurant. No fajitas, corn only tortillas, black beans instead of refried beans, non traditional enchiladas that I wasn't able to stomach. Service was average. On the plus side Saturdays is drag day if you want to put on a dress. Take a very close look at the menu before going, based on others reviews some folks like their style but not my group.

The service, the food, the decor; it was all amazing! Our waitress KJ was absolutely wonderful. We are not from this area, so she took the time to walk us through the menu, point out recommendations, and was accommodating to our diet needs. If you are in Tulsa, this is a must eat. Thank you KJ for your great service and thank you Elote for the fantastic food.

This place does not disappoint. You if go, you need to get the puffy tacos because they were MIND BLOWING. The chicken was stewed perfectly, the tortilla was soft yet crisp, and the creamy sauce on top was something out of my dreams. The sweet corn tamale was delicious but I wish it had more corn. It was sweet but helped balance out the taco. For sides you absolutely have to get the elote. This was one of the best sides of had at a Mexican restaurant and the sauce on top was jaw dropping. The sweet potatoes also added a sweetness but they weren't my favorite. The queso is a cream cheese base so be warned. I'm use to a thin white queso with way less tang. If you like a tangy dip you'll probably like this but it was definitely not my favorite. I had a few bites and decided I was done which is not usually how I roll with queso. The salsa on the other hand was super juicy and flavorful. So nice and fresh.... You could tell the tomatoes were sourced freshly.

There is absolutely no seasoning on the food at all including the chips and salsa.

After going I am not too sure what to think. Lots of glowing reviews but our exp was less than stellar. Orders came out and just lot's of little things like portion size was different on every plate. We each got 1 paper napkin , no straws until asked. Shredded beef was chokingly dry. Beans and rice were ok but nothing to rave about. My wife and older daughter said their taco meat tasted "bad" mine I didn't notice and our youngest ordered the vegan option and she was happy! So forward to the next day I ended up with what I can only describe as food poisoning. 3 days of bloat ,gas and running to the restroom. Then the rest of the week was trying to recover from the dehydration. The rest of my family was OK , no problems like mine but they didn't eat really ; they said it was that bad. The service was good and attentive. front of house seemed a bit disorganized on entry but not a long wait. We ordered 3 beef puffy taco dinner plates with rice and beans and 1 vegan beef puffy taco and 1 Queso with chips and 1 house margarita. $77.89 before tip. We don't seem to have a lot of luck with trendy in Tulsa foods. Nothing seems to live up to the hype. It makes me think that Tulsa has some very active social media players?
Be the first to ReplyBlack beans were the definition of a disaster.
I don't complain much about restaurants but this was pretty bad. My empanada was the size of a big toe. nothing had any flavor. service was amazing though.
