Went last night to check it out.
The restaurant was hopping and the space has a nice buildout. We ordered the Caesar salad, meatballs, burger and mvp pizza. All were very tasty. Never had Detroit style pizza, didn't even know that was a thing but it's quite delicious. Crispy crunchy edges and focaccia like on the inside, nice contrast in textures. Only negative was the service was rough. If you can get past that, the food and the ambiance are worth it.

Stopped by for some foodz and had a great time! We had the cheese sticks, the burger and pizza. Everything was amazing, the burger really stood out the most! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area!

My go to spot in the city! Love the vodka sauce. The servers seem limited but all extremely nice.
Be the first to ReplyI've ordered two of their pizzas.
One was the VIP. It was delicious. It had a lot of sauces on it but it was not too much and I would order again. I loved the pickled hot peppers. However, the server came out and served my friend their salad and 15 or more minutes later we had to flag down the server to see what happened with my pizza. I don't know what happened but it was annoying. I was offered a free drink but I already had one and was not interested in another. I later went back and ordered the pizza with caramelized onions, sausage and smoked gouda. There was no smoked gouda. I smoke meat and love gouda so am familiar with the ingredients. I ate the left pieces over for breakfast - still no smoked gouda. I think it was just plain mozzarella. That pizza is $23 so if u ran out, just tell me and i can order another. I hate to send food back - I am usually just exhausted and don't want to argue. But honestly, if it keeps happening it is not a fluke but symptomatic of something else.

All the food was amazing, they were great at timing when the food should come up. I got the Appletini, loved it. Best part of the meal is probably the white pizza with mushroom and the BURGER. The burger is a must get and it's amazing. The appetizer are great to cut down all the carbs from the pizza, had the salad, cauliflower and the loaded fries.

If you are ever in the East Village, this is a MUST if you want to try Detroit style pizza! The pizza crust and sauce were amazing and perfect for a late night meal. What made the night really special was the bartender, Melissa! She made an amazing Old Fashioned and was very attentive to our large group at the bar.I will definitely be back to try the burger.

Recently ordered an MVP from Emmy after listening to my roommates rave about how amazing their deep dish is. While the taste was fine, it wasn't anything outstanding. Prices are oddly high for the small portion that you get, especially compared to similar options in the city.

This place had been on my list for a while before I actually got around to coming, so the expectations had been building for a bit. It did not disappoint! The crust was as crispy and greasy as I had hoped! I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more. It's not the best pizza in the city, but it does what it needs to do, and that's all you can really ask. Definitely a good place if you have a larger party or are looking for a sit down pizza place. Worth a try if you ask me.
Be the first to ReplyTurns out Detroit is right here in lower Manhattan.
Can't compliment the chicken sandwich and "Colony" pizza enough. Deep dish, crispy crust. Next time I'm around Tompkins Square, maybe you'll see me there...hopefully talking to the manager Chelsea about where to go after

The service and food here are amazing! Chelsea was so exceptional with service and making sure I had everything I needed. I came alone and the bar and wait staff were so friendly and made me feel just as if I was at home. 5 stars and will forever be a customer!

I have only dined at this spot once prior to tonight and forgot to leave a review but I have to say I was longing for Detroit style pizza and I remembered this spot hits. The colony is my favorite 'za because duh, honey and jalapeรฑos, but the margarita is a close second. I also think their sangria is just perfect. Big thanks to our server Steph for making it a truly great night!

I'm not sure if this place was over-hyped, but it did not seem to meet my somewhat high expectations. Don't get me wrong, the food was great! It just wasn't the best I ever had....Burger was super tasty (deff add bacon) and the big ang pie was good. I know this place is a spin-off of Emily, so i'm eager to compare the two once I get to try Emily's!

My review magically disappeared and they never responded after claiming they would, so I'm re-posting this one I'm still salty about 6 months later:I e-mailed Emmy directly about this (as of this writing, I've received no response), but I had arguably the worst dining experience of my life here.We went last Monday at around 8:30, and to make a very long and upsetting story short:* We were ignored for about 5 minutes upon entering the restaurant when we tried to let them know we were there for our reservation. Mind you, they were active but not packed to the brim on a Monday evening.* Once we (eventually) got seated, our waiter took our order after a bit of a hiatus. He then, over the course of 75 minutes, came out 3 more times to re-confirm our order. As a particular note, at one point during this wait, we overheard the family dining next to us that one member of their party didn't receive one of their orders (they had the same waiter). They then had to go next door to the fish n' chip spot so they didn't go home hungry.* After waiting for over an hour (during which we had been served precisely one glass of water), our waiter came up to us and apologized, saying that he hadn't yet fired the order? (Why confirm 3 times and tell us repeatedly it was on its way?). It was truly one of the most bizarre experiences I've ever had in NYC dining at over 1000+ different restaurants. As I said in my e-mail to Emmy, I actually laughed a bit as I thought we were on a game show of sorts.* After apologizing, he made no attempt to rectify or comp us anything -- just that we would have to wait another 12 minutes for our relatively simple order to come out. Luckily, we at that point had the good sense to decline, and were lucky to head on over to some other LES establishments at a very late hour that were still open and could deliver food that we had actually ordered.Who goes to a restaurant (with a reservation!) on a Monday and the place is so horribly run that they can't give you the food you ordered after almost 90 minutes of waiting? Can't go out of business fast enough.
Be the first to ReplyEmmy Squared Pizza is an amazing pizza place in the East
Emmy Squared Pizza is an amazing pizza place in the East Village of New York City. The pizza is out of this world, and the service is excellent. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Emmy Squared Pizza to anyone looking for an amazing pizza experience.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great but awful service.
Very disappointed for a first time visit. We didn't have a waiter just a bunch of people awkwardly helping but not knowing what we ordered. The entire time we didn't receive water after asking twice. We didn't have our dirty dishes cleared from the table as more arrived, it was a quick drop and go.

I came to eat At this restaurant and I was told that they have rats running around. I didn't want to believe ย it but i rodents dropping in the corner. It made me feel so uncomfortable. That me and my friends got up and left restaurant to go to different restaurants I should of called the health inspector but I was trying to be nice and hope they fix the rat problem But they didn't because recently a friend went to the restaurant and to Alittle mouse crawl from under the tableI really wish that they fix the rat problem I would try to seat at restaurant ever again I wish you luck if you eating at the restaurant
Be the first to ReplyEmmy Squared has long been on my list of pizzerias to try
Emmy Squared has long been on my list of pizzerias to try in NYC. We finally committed to ordering delivery from their East Village location. Intrigued by the combination of toppings, we selected the Big Ang pizza ($23.50), which comes with vodka sauce, ricotta, banana peppers, double pecorino, and meatballs.Although the pizza doesn't look big, it was more than enough for my husband and me. The Detroit-styled thick, square-shaped pizza were hefty in size and loaded with the rich, high-quality ingredients. Overall, the pizza was superb. I loved the mix of creamy ricotta and vodka sauce, savory meatballs, and spicy peppers. This was a home run.

Went on a cold and rainy Saturday and easily got a table for 2, although it was still very ย crowded. Based on waiters rec, I went with the red light green light for my cocktail and it was delicious. We shared the cheesy bread which had some pesto like sauce on it. Very good. The pizza we tried was the Nashville hot chicken. It was ok for me but I didn't love it. Something was off, maybe the pickle flavor was too overwhelming. My bf likes it though. The le big Matt burger was probably the absolute best burger I've ever had in life. So flavorful and juicy and delicious. I would go back just for that. Staff were very attentive and helpful. When we were leaving, they even offered us another pizza to take home for free (it was close to closing so maybe an extra order).

We just went here for the first time, and could not have asked for a better experience. The food was fantastic. Melissa, our server, was the absolute greatest, she checked in on us and made sure we were taken care of throughout our dining experience. She was incredibly kind and offered wonderful service, and her music was full of BANGERS. Will absolutely be returning.
Be the first to ReplyThis Detroit style pizza that meets NY grandma pie is one
This Detroit style pizza that meets NY grandma pie is one of our favorite NYC pizza places. We had reservations for late dinner on Saturday. The place was really busy, and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We ordered the burger with waffle fries, and opted for two of their reds - the MVP and the Deluxe with the sausage on the side. The crispy well done crust with the wonderful topping options make this place well worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyI ordered the gluten free pizza and had it delivered.
After eating two slices I noticed a very weird taste. The pizza was covered in mold and made me sick. I tried calling for a refund but no answer.
Be the first to ReplyThe pizzas were good.
But the best were the waffle fries (not pictured bc we finished to fast before I could take a picture lol). Since I couldn't have alcoholic drinks, I got the mocktail version of And Just Like That , which was so delicious! This place is good to try if you like Detroit-style pizzas, but I wouldn't come back unless it was suggested by someone else.

Ordered 2 "big game packs" for the super bowl that Emmy Squared had advertised on their website and social media for weeks. Arrived at the stated pickup time only to be told they had no history of my order. I showed them the email confirmation, order number, and credit card receipt, until finally a manager told me he would take care of it and I'd have my food 20 minutes later as he told the kitchen to prioritize the food. 2 hours sitting in the waiting area later, we finally received the food, only to get home and find multiple items missing from the order. It wasn't worth the headache at that point as the general manager said they wouldn't charge for the food, but an overall terrible experience

I booked a reservation with high expectations and left with mixed feelings. We were seated promptly on a Wednesday evening. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. We were seated in an area in the back near what I assume to be the utility room because there was an odor of a dirty mop bucket pervading the area. That set the mood for our meal. Drinks came out quickly and the cocktail was delicious. We ordered chicken crispers for appetizers which were very good. BUT. The Margherita was mediocre. There was a bit too much oil that had a stale taste to it and made it a bit unappetizing. I do like the extra oil, it reminds me of pizza hut, but it was just too much unsavory oil in my mouth. The texture of the tomato sauce was good, like blended tomatoes, but it had an overpowering flavor of oregano. It really tasted like textured oregano sauce. I had high expectations because I saw this restaurant's wburg location was packed on the weekends and a new location opening in the UES. These sub-par elements may be specific to this east-village location.
