Snobby does not begin to describe this place! I came here
Snobby does not begin to describe this place! I came here with an ex who wanted to treat me to a romantic dinner. The hostess checked us in and asked if we were in their reservation system and had we dined with them before. We answered no, and she pursed her lips, and proceeded to walk us through the gorgeous, elegant dining room, to the smallest, darkest table all the way in the back in a cramped corner. We shrugged it off and decided to try and have a nice night. We looked at the menu and we are huge seafood lovers and wanted to try one of the entrees. A lot of the whole fish and other options are the fish names but in another language (Tsipoura, Fagri, Rofos, Cherna, Loup de Mer) so I asked the waiter about it. I said I am quite familiar with different types of seafood but these names do not sound familiar to me. He replied in a sarcastic tone, "these are fish? you don't know your fish?" I was so embarrassed after that. He did not go through the different types of the menu for us like all the other reviews mentioned. Rude and curt! We ended up getting the small lobsters, similar to a langostine, and afterward, I got the worst food poisoning of my life! I was throwing up for hours and was sick for the next two days. I am never, ever returning.

Went for the prix fixe lunch and it was a ripoff.
Portions so small that I had to get a sandwich afterwards. Total cost per person for a cup of soup, some grilled veggies, a golf ball sized yogurt dessert and coffee was $77.

Pricey but very good Greek restaurant
I visited "Milos" with my family the first day of our stay in NY. We made a reservation for 800 pm. I am of Greek descent so I have a very hard time finding good Greek restaurants in the US.
The interior of "Milos" was warm and a bit noisy. The place is huge extending on 3 levels! I really appreciate the fact that I did not see any of these horrendous and distasteful Greek statue replicas that I have met in many other Greek restaurants...
We visited on a Monday and the restaurant was full! The service was a bit slower than I would like it to be, but given the fact that the place was so busy, I am not gonna take any points away for this reason.
The appetizers were:
1. An olive oil dip with freshly cut oregano. The bread was grilled in a traditional Greek way. It did remind me of Greece. Extra points for this!
2. Greek spreads, including tzatziki, taramosalata (type of fish egg sauce) and htypiti (type of cheese sauce). There was pita bread (really good). I would prefer the tzatziki to be more spicy but I understand that other palates may not be that trained, so overall I would say that spreads were very good. Tip: ask for extra pita bread from the beginning!
3. Fried calamari. It was excellent. Tip: ask for extra slices of lemon from the beginning!
4. Gigantes (a type of oversized beans). They were very good.
We ordered 3 main dishes. The halibut was one of the best we ever had. The filet mignon was great. The lamb chops were fantastic (very juicy!). French fries were hand-cut and very tasty!
I had a glass of red wine. Decent.
For desserts, we ordered yogurt with honey and karydopitta (walnut pie) with ice cream. They were above average and definitely brought us a feeling of home. I did notice that a family left baklava in the table next to us. It is never a good sign when Greeks don't finish their baklava but to be fair I did not have one. My gut feeling is that "Milos" chefs need to work more on their desserts.
We paid $400 for 3 persons. Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely come back!

Is the packed post pandemic house creating a little
Is the packed post pandemic house creating a little slippage in the legendary Greek eatery? I've been enjoying their fabulous food since they made the trek from Montreal quite a few years ago, but a recent lunch visit left me a tad disappointed. Mezze lacked flavor and was accompanied by company by jewel-like miniscule pieces of pita along with some radish and celery that looked as if they had seen better days. The small grilled Dorade did not disappoint in truth, but getting served my dessert on a light bed of table crumbs was a bit of a surprise. Hopefully now that things are rolling again they will work out a few kinks and get back to the standard that made them absolutely top of the line. I certainly hope so.
It's a New York institution in the heart of billionaires row for a good reason. There is always a great scene. The service is phenomenal and the food is delicious!

Return to office brought me back to Milos twice last week!
Return to office brought me back to Milos twice last week! Once for dinner in the wine room, and once for lunch in the downstairs dining room. Excellent service, appropriately quick at lunch and more placidly paced for dinner - and wine glasses never empty at dinner. The Milos Special thin sliced, fried eggplant and zucchini is one of the most crave-able dishes I've ever had. As a vegetarian, I would ask that they add another entree option - the grilled vegetable plate is beautifully prepared and satisfying, but it would be nice to have another option that is a bit more exciting.

Having been to the Miami location, this is, in many ways, a mirror. It feels like going home to a place I previously enjoyed, though with more table cramping, welcome to NYC, and higher ceilings. Having a reservation, I was still directed to the bar to wait, but that wait turned out to be maybe five minutes or less, which was a relief since the place seemed to be humming at full capacity. It took my brain a good while to remember everything at Milos is family style. Thus, the menu doesn't divide well into your normal courses for an evening. In fact, I needed help figuring out where to go and this is exactly where they lost the final star for a perfect review. Though the waiter help he seemed more than rushed to the point where if I didn't understand what was going on why would I ever come here in attitude. Perhaps an exaggeration to some degree, but the feeling was enough to make it the negative of the night.Moving on... For the table, sharing the MILOS SPECIAL - Paper thin zucchinis and eggplants, lightly fried, saganaki cheese and tzatziki; OCTOPUS - Sashimi quality Mediterranean octopus, charcoal broiled; FRIED CALAMARI - Rings of fresh and tender calamari, lightly fried - turned out to be the perfect combination. Everything was flawless and for me, even the octopus was great, which is usually something I never touch. Moving onto the main course, yes, where does that break occur on the menu I still don't know, I had tuna which once again was flawlessly prepared and presented. I even enjoyed the GALAKTOBOUREKO - Vanilla and lemon zest custard in layered phyllo - which dessert in general is something I typically do not partake in.Is there value for the meal? That is hard to figure out in these times. Yes, the place is packed. If you add drinks and tip, it is going to be $200 per person without trying hard. Looking around, I wonder how this spend is something that works still to pack a place on a Tuesday evening during an average work week. Yes, it is Manhattan, but...wow.

Had a group dinner here, and started at the wine bar
Had a group dinner here, and started at the wine bar downstairs for a quick drink before we walked up on the spiral staircase to the main dining room area. the dining space has a gorgeous view of the Vessel. Located on the 5th and 6th floors of the Hudson Yards mall, downstairs is the check in and smaller wine bar, and upstairs is the main dining room (including an elevator to get between the floors). Bar and main area have standard white-cloth dining, and the fish bar with ice where you can choose your own fish is quite a photo opportunity (assuming you like seeing a bunch of colorful seafood and ice).We were seated in a side room with no windows, unfortunately, but it was laid out for a big rectangular table and gave us a chance to be separate from the noise of the main area (or them from us perhaps). In warmer weather they have some outdoor space, too, based on the photos. The meal itself was designed as a family share of four courses - first course appetizers included:- Bread - pretty good, chewy and flavorful, with a big shared plate of olive oil with a little pepper and what I think was basil... wish it had been individual plates instead (not that we're germaphobes, but it would have been easier to dip in pieces and not get all over the table, etc. on the way back to your plate/mouth).- A tomato salad - Greek feta, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. Pretty unassuming but straightforward to the point of thinking I could get this anywhere.- Grilled octopus - done very well, grilled to a solid consistency but not rubbery, a little chewy while still soft enough to break apart in your mouth with little effort. While I've had better balance in the salt/olive oil flavoring, this was still quite good.- Calamari fried and with lemon and parsley, including tentacles which was a nice change (not afraid of serving the whole calamari, albeit this was all sliced up into rings and tentacle pieces). Excellent when first served, but rapidly gets cold and very fishy so eat it quickly.Second course was the most disappointing for appetizers:- Crab cakes - while a good amount of crab, also a good amount of crab shell. Unfortunately spent more time picking that chitin out of my teeth rather than eating the crab cake which left me .- Grilled shrimp was disappointing. Big shrimp but no seasoning and was overcooked. The endive salad was fine, but I didn't bother getting a photo of the dish.Third course included:Loup de Mer - also called Branzino (European sea bass) - baked in sea salt and served with capers, lemon and olive oil (they served to us instead of us breaking it down). The fish was juicy and fell apart with the fork done well. However it really did lack the sweetness of the flesh of Branzino I've had before, and the bigger issue were the bones to clean up - yes, they deboned bigger pieces but I had a set of small spines in two rows on my piece that basically removed all of the joy of eating the food as I was picking out bones from my tongue instead of the enjoying the fish. This is a very common fish to debone.. it could have been done better. One fish serves 4-5 of us, and it was brought out initially with the salt to give an idea of the cooking method (they take great pride in the salt source), but deboning happened outside our room which may have been more interesting from a presentation perspective if done inside (I assume it may be done more tableside in the main gallery).Grilled lamb chops - very pretty layout on bringing it out to us, and heavy on the fat; I cut more than half away from my lamb chop, and while cooked right, it wasn't the savory, gamey flavor from lamb I expected (oddly very mild, which might be good for some who turn away from the strong taste of lamb, but if you enjoy it, you may be disappointed like I was).Last course - dessert. This was the simplest of the four courses but not the weakest.- Greek yogurt with honey- Fruit platter.Neither outstanding, just simple desserts. Service - reasonably good, three assigned staffers, though one helping was very inexperienced, often cutting in on conversations instead of going around the outside of two people talking - I know they're trained to take from a certain direction and pour from the same side on everyone as they often forced through, but as a server previously, I know you can see who's turning to talk to each other here - and adjust to step to the outside of the conversation instead of interrupting.Wines - I had the white, and there was a red, too, solid selections that I'm sure the hosts picked out from a generous list, no issues there. Had a Greek lager beer that was cool and refreshing.Overall, I was expecting better service and though some dishes were good, I've had better Greek Mediterranean dishes. Perhaps this was an after-effect of the private room instead of being on the main dining floor, but spent more time fighting or disappointed with my food than expected.

This place is too good to care about your birthday.
Just brought our good friend here for his birthday. He's Greek and really loves this place so it made sense. Upon arriving I made a point to tell the host staff which had "3 people" at the stand to please bring a dessert over because it's our friend birthday at the end of the meal. They acted like they totally heard me and were on board to make sure something happens at dessert time...... yeah I was talking to a wall. Dessert time came. We ordered three desserts. They brought them we ate them. And still nothing for our friends birthday. My boyfriend then went up and told the staff how disappointed he was they ignored us. They were pretty whatever about it. 5-10 mins later the staff brings something after we finished all our other desserts and were completely full. Pathetic, you made it worse being late. And made it much more noticeable it was forgotten and just felt tacky. While leaving I told the hostess how upset and disappointed I was for them neglecting my request. She says. "Ok" with a blank stair. Even an Applebees three blocks over in Times Square has the brain capacity to remember a birthday. Reminder... I told this request to THREE STAFF MEMBERS. At this price point I expect better. Won't be coming back.
I loved every aspect of the meal. One of my favorite items was the Zucchini Tower. It was perfectly crispy and flaky. The fish was cooked to perfection. They give a really good estimate of how much each fish will feed. We got really good wine recommendations and overall was a 10/10.

I would've given this 4 out of 5 stars, having been here
I would've given this 4 out of 5 stars, having been here several times, but the manager sent to my table when there was an issue was so arrogant and rude and unpleasant that he sank my entire view of the place. It's atrociously expensive and does not keep in line with literally ANY other restaurant in the area that does what it does. That aside, when a customer has a problem, it should not be faced with arrogance and attitude ... It should be respected and apologized for. This was essentially a situation where it was "too bad" and the issue was not resolved and the manager (after having had the server try to address it, which should not be the case) made it WORSE with his behavior. This person has absolutely NO business in a management and public-facing position of any kind and should be reprimanded and/or fired immediately. I will be following up with whatever contact information I can find for restaurant owners, because his behavior was truly reprehensible.

I must say, milos Hudson Yards is beyond but at the end of the day you really can't go wrong at any location. My must orders: fried zucchini chips, tuna/salmon , scallops, lobster pasta, chocolate cake Appetizers:We started off with the grilled octopus ( delish and cooked well, not too squishy) , tuna and salmon sashimi (so well garnished and so fresh) , and the fried zucchini chips (I mean - so I need to explain ) , Caesar salad and Greek salad extra hummas on the side (because their homemade hummus is unreal) Sides: grilled vegetables, broccoli (I could do without) Lobster pasta and Branzino for mains And they didn't disappoint! Lobster pasta is beautifully presented with the tail and the head For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake ( not pictured ) yogurt with honey, and fruit plate. The fruit was the most divine. The secret menu hack is to order the chocolate cake with some fruit like strawberries for example and combine those two dishes. Great wine selection will be back 4.5/5

In town for quick business.
Dined here on 10/14/21 when I had no idea how off the rocker NYC had actually gone with their segregating COVID restrictions. They were very accommodating to sit us at a patio table and I quickly forgot about DeBlasio because the waitress and staff were absolutely delightful and the food followed suit. Shared the hummus which was outstanding. The whole fish was SUPERB! Craveable and delectable. And the mushrooms I could order again and again, an excellent variety cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed their extensive Greek wine list. The bottle we chose was sublime. I echo the sentiments of the other reviews that it's pricey. My portion of the bill alone for a single was nearly two hundred dollars and that's quite a bit higher than my corporate per diem! ha! All in all, a wonderful experience, would definitely return!
😍
Spectacular Greek cuisine
Milos has a very clean, pristine atmosphere. Lots of crisp white which reminds you of Santorini and the sea. Everything we tried on the menu was top-notch. The octopus was very tender, and our side of grilled veggies / halloumi cheese was wonderful. I particularly liked the roasted eggplant. I also really enjoyed my prawn entrée with orzo, feta and veggies, though I was slightly disappointed there were only two prawns. The restaurant is definitely on the pricey side (a bit overpriced in my opinion), but the food is amazing. In comparison to Avra, I think Avra has better value but the food at both are first-rate.
