Our dinner at Estro was our favorite meal in Italy.
The guys were so attentive, and sweet towards our teen and tween. Food was artfully presented and so interesting and delicious! Highly recommend. You can reserve online a week in advance. I would suggest dressing up just a little if, like us, you spent the day touring in shorts and T-shirts; we were glad we did.
Be the first to ReplyVery good, accommodating service.
I was on my own and called ahead. I was told they would be expecting me. I booked a table for 8:45 giving me plenty of times for all the twists and turns I anticipated on the way from San Marco. I arrived around 8:35 and was seated immediately. The place has a beautiful ambience. I'm not a wine drinker and ordered a glass of red with my meal; a tagliatelle with a flavorful sauce, mussels and chick peas. A very simple dish presented in the center of a large plate making it look like a very small portion. It was not a lot of food but it was very good and sufficiently filling. I would come back to try something else. I was brought a small taste of I'm not sure what, to start, It was very tasty. A nice touch. And finally the bread, some of the best I've tasted. This is a wine bar and has an extensive collection, so if that's what you want, you would do very well here. I am curious about the lack of current reviews. I'm posting because this place deserves something more recent. I was recommended the place by a local couple I met at dinner the night before. It was a good call. The service was very good, friendly and helpful in ensuring my food met my dietary needs. Highly recommended.

They brought out a complimentary amuse-bouche that I'm still thinking about nearly two weeks later. A perfect little nugget of fritto misto accompanied by a small ramekin with a delicious sauce. The fritto misto was suspended on the end of a stick which was being supported at an angle by a small hole in the plate. The whole set-up was evocative of a stick of incense burning in a dorm room. It was art. And some of the best fritto misto I had on the trip. The only thing we bumped on was I had really been looking forward to trying their extremely affordable tasting menu but we were informed that it was only possible if the entire table ordered it, which was not going to happen. So we instead built our own version of the tasting menu by ordering all of the same dishes a la carte. It was disappointing but I get it, it's their joint and I'm sure they have their reasons.

(I agree with professional reviewers). It also happens to serve excellent, traditional Venetian classics.  Its contemporary design, friendly staff, and outstanding value for the money add to the enjoyment of this 30 seat eatery. As with all good Italian eateries, the seafood, proteins, and produce are exceptionally fresh and sourced from the region.  The produce has the telltale saltiness found in everything grown in Venezia.Tip:  Order family style and share.  Portions are huge.  Straight to the food, the "traditional Venetian starter", their interpretation of cicchetti is exceptionally well done.  The scampi in saor, sweet shrimp and onions in mild vinegar.  Grilled octopus with cannellini bean foam, so tender, eaten together, the flavor mimics tuna.  The baccala mantecato with polenta chips, pungent (ie smells like the canals) but tempered by strong peppery flavor of the rich EVOO.  Massive umami finish.  All good eats.A plate of razor clams done traditionally and finished with EVOO, perfect.  Sweet, plump, tender, and juicy.  The restaurant's signature "Veal Shank Cooked at Low Temperature", a sous vide veal shank served boneless in a sauce made from the cooking jus reduction and mounted with pumpkin cream, outstanding.  It screams autumn when combined with the earthy cardoncelli mushrooms. Finally, an Italian "Pork Steak" with roasted seasonal veg from the Rialto market.  Stunning.  A double cut pork chop the size of a huge porterhouse steak in the US, cooked mid rare.  Deep porky flavor sans the sweetness usually found in US breeds.  Juicy but lacks fat marbling.  Eat the absolutely delicious fat cap for richness.  Outstanding  paired with the roasted potatoes, mushrooms, leeks and yes, bok choy.Excellent wine book (iPad sized).  Heavy emphasis on the Veneto and highlighting winemakers doing something special ie preserving the biodynamic methods of winemaking or preserving traditional grape varietals).  Use the som.  His recommendations are outstanding. As already mentioned, outstanding Italian service.  High energy and fun.One month advance reservations required for both lunch and dinner.  Fluent English.Seriously one of the best meals in the city bar none.

And the restaurant doesn't open till 12:30 though it says 12 on the door. I waited half an hour to 12pm and the staffs were eating pizza inside and wouldn't even let me wait inside. Time wasted lots of other good restaurants close by.

Our first night in Venice and what a beautiful way to start! The food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. Go here.

On our last night in Venice we wanted to try something amazing! Luckily, we stumbled upon Estro! Everything we had was mouthwatering, satisfying, and tasty! The restaurant had a prefixed menu, but I think everyone at the table has to order the prefixed menu...They serve complimentary bread and each one at the table receives a mini rice ball, bread ball, and a side of soup. Wish I knew what they each were called! So good!Anyway, we decided against it and ordered the beef brisket and the artichoke pasta between the two of us. The artichoke pasta was sooooo delicious! Very flavorful. One downside is the portion size. It is small for what you pay for.Next, the brisket. It was amazing!!!!! The meat was tender and melted right into our mouths. We didn't leave hungry despite the small portion sizes! It was the right amount of food.Service: 5/5Food: 5/5
Be the first to ReplyThe meat menu in March 2019 left much to be desired.
Negative points: couldn't taste that well the 3 y/o cheese on the passatelli and the chicken stock is pretty regular, the lamb was hard and not that tasty. Positive points: really tender veal tongue and good tiramissu. The service was very slow due to the lack of staff, only two waiters were serving all the customers. Difficult to believe that this place is recommended on the Michelin Guide. You can pay less for better food. At least, don't try the meat degustation menu.

As you enter the restaurant you are greeted by a nice wine bar.  It has tables for about 10 people and a nice area to stand at the bar.  The bottled wine selection is extensive.  It looked like there were about 12-15 open bottles to sample. We were there for dinner, so after testing a few of the local wines we sat down in the main restaurant section.  The seating area is not too large so make reservations.  Their menu selection is small but creative.  We shared a number of recommendations and we happy with each selection.  The mixed meat tray was excellent and we tried a special pasta dish that was both creative and tasty.  Service was solid.  Overall, a really excellent restaurant with reasonable prices.

My friend and I were dying to check out this place because of the reviews. However, we were quickly disappointed when we arrived. We went up to the front and asked if we could be seated. The man at the front basically looked us up and down and said no, that there was no room left. We were disappointed and proceeded to walk away when two more groups of people walked right in. They were not turned down by this man - he said nothing to them and started taking their drink order. How rude is this for anyone to do?? I guess they did not want Americans in the restaurant so we took our money elsewhere where we purchased a bottle of wine and lots of food. I do not recommend this place as it showed terrible customer service.
Be the first to ReplyEstro was a very pleasant surprise for us here in Venice.
We ordered the Tagliata steak that was succulent, and the Spaghetti alle Vongole which was heavenly. The assorted cured meat appetizer plate was also world class. The selection of wines was quite extensive, and the Chianti Classico that we had was excellent. The great September weather helped too. The restaurant is in a room behind the bar, and wasn't crowded at all. We spent a very reasonable 39 euros per person on Sept 15, 2018.

My friend and I decided to visit Estro because of its style and the amazing description of the numerous awards it had won.We ordered and shared the veal steak, ravioli, beef, and the tiramisu for dessert. Â Everything was wonderful, especially the beef and the ravioli, which I heartily recommend! To accompany our meal, we asked our server to recommend a wine from the Venetian region. Â He did, and the bottle turned out to be both incredible and the perfect pairing for our meal.I have no hesitation recommending this restaurant to everyone, and look forward to returning :-)
