You must try this place for authentic Italian food and pizza!
Great for an Italian dinner of pizza and pasta. The staff is terrific. We had gluten free options and it was one of the best we’ve had in New Zealand. The wine list was interesting and for red Italian wines drinkers like us, it made for a perfect complement to the food.

Slow service mains took over an hour to come. Food only average/ OK. Being vistors finding somewhere else not really an option. Duty manager whined they were very busy short staffed. Truth is they had over booked and couldn't deliver. Bet he wished he hadn't asked. Then got hit for 15% surcharge.

Nothing much changes which is perfect if you have always done it right! Great service, great food and great price. We have been going to Etrusco as a couple for 15 years and individually since childhood. We keep going back because it is consistently great. Well done guys!

Be the first to ReplySpecial Restaurant for Diners - Etrusco
Enjoyed a delicious Verde Penne Pasta with a glass of Vesevo Aglianico. The Owners and staff on the night were especially friendly and helpful. A great place to dine - such a lovely atmosphere; very popular. Handy place to dine before attending Concerts in the Dunedin Town Hall nearby.
Be the first to ReplyEasily the best restaurant in Dunedin
This restaurant is easily the best restaurant in Dunedin. I am shocked at any negative reviews because the food, drinks, and service are always exceptional. The atmosphere is cosy and inviting. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and great at recommendations. The food is always delicious and cooked to perfection! I always recommend this to tourists and anyone asking for a place to go for dinner in Dunedin. It is easy to see that this is a family business as customers are always received with such a warm welcome and outstanding service throughout.

Amazing food, so much so we were bursting. Great value for money. Super friendly and helpful staff who really made a difference to the evening. Wonderful place - highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat find!
What a great find! There is a reason this restaurant is so highly rated. First of all the staff were great. Super friendly, great service. We had an Antipasto Toscanini and the Savoy Pizza and we loved both these dishes. The artichokes were superb! The prosciutto was flavourful and not overwhelmingly salty. The pizza was absolutely divine. We shared a Tiramisu cake for dessert and it was also spot on. If I only had another night here I would have gone back for dinner again. Also need to mention the price.. highly affordable, though they do need to update the menu downstairs (prices are off). I understand with inflation prices must rise but the menu should be updated to reflect this. Thanks for the wonderful experience and will be back again should I pop by this great city again!
Be the first to ReplyInappropriate Customer Service
My friends and I dined at Etrusco for my birthday on the 10th of March. I found myself confused when I was seated at a 4 person table after booking for 5 people, but assumed one of my guests must have called in advance to change the booking to 4 (we have since checked the booking and it states 5). On our end, half of the table did arrive half an hour late, but my partner and I happily had entrees and drinks while we waited. When my guests arrived one went and asked for an extra seat, but was left waiting and was forgotten, so she found a spare seat- not from another table. We didn’t mind this too much because obviously it was a busy night, and we were late. It wasn’t until later on in the evening when that same guest stopped me from leaving, we waited for a while to have our dishes cleared, and we had been seen to a few times after that by the staff, but this guest didn’t order anything. After having glassware and rubbish cleared off our table, and sitting for over 15 minutes we got the hint we were being ushered to leave. To which my guest had to reveal that she had dropped off a cake earlier in the day and was told they would bring it out. I was appalled at the response of the woman behind the counter when she asked for it back, this woman scoffed and mocked the way my friend asked for it. Who I assume was the manager apologised profusely, but my friend was obviously uncomfortable with how he kept touching her arm when he would apologise. We also noticed that he said the cake was all set up and ready to go, but it clearly wasn’t as some signage she provided wasn’t open, and the note she had attached likely was not looked at. We tried to be kind as we left as we know it was a grad night, and they were busy, but I was really disappointed with the inappropriate customer service.

We had two excellent meals with really great, but simple food - no silly bits of fluff, swirls of odd coloured sauce … just really good tastes. The service was good, wine prices reasonable. There is an extremely happy atmosphere with obviously satisfied customers.

The manager informed us when we arrived that 1 or 2 staff members hadn't arrived yet so there will be a delay in taking in our order. However, we didn't have to wait too long though. the food also came out pretty quickly. This restaurant is always busy and I love the old architecture of the building and interior. We had the rosemary and salt flat bread to start, which is yum. I had the Verde pasta which was amazing. The others at my table also had pasta and loved it. The portions are very generous so the medium portion was plenty. Good family restaurant.

On entry to the restaurant it smells like Italian food. Delicious 🤤
Everything was tasty and yummy. One of the best Italian restaurant in the South Island.
Wonderful Atmosphere
Loved the beautiful original wood panelling and stained glass windows that characterise this lovely restaurant. Service was excellent and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal (especially the chocolate dessert cake, which was light and delicious) and it looked like everyone else was enjoying their meals too. Would definitely go again when we're next in Dunedin.

We come here from time to time. Etrusco is alway dependable and there is never any change to the quality or service. We will be back

Lovely place for a meal- beautiful building, great service and the food is fantastic. 3 of us had 4 different flavoured pizzas-they do half and half if you ask so you have the opportunity to try a variety. They were all very different and delicious. The fourth member of our group had pasta which she also thoroughly enjoyed. The garlic bread is to die for-loaded with garlic if you're into that!
We definitely recommend Eltruscos but be aware, because of the wooden floors and also depending upon the number of diners, it can be rather noisy.
Really Good Food & Service
Enjoyable evening for a family of four. Plenty of choice and the food was very good. Service on point and very nice setting. Would recommend.

Captivating ambience in this historical setting. Service was friendly and efficient. Food well presented and of good quality. A fine, enjoyable evening as a result. Very impressed with the bill (we had byo, which makes a difference!). will return next time we are in Dunedin.

We have moved from Dunedin after 28years coming to Etruscos but with the ‘kids’ studying down here we always get together for dinner at Etrusco. The food has always been perfect with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. As long as they make my fav Amatriciana Bianca, ill be back.

Dined at Etrusco with a friend on 17 February. We were both looking forward to another Evening at this very special Restaurant. The atmosphere is amazing, staff are warm and friendly and the food and wine so enjoyable. I can recommend the Michelangelo Pizza accompanied by a glass of Vesevo Aglianico! This time I also enjoyed a dessert of Raspberry Gelato. We also enjoyed the pleasant sounds of a musician. This Restaurant is very popular and all tables were occupied.
